Spidi Marathon H2Out Jacket

The new Marathon jacket and pant combination was designed for the most extreme and adventurous journeys. The Marathon line was in fact conceived and developed for the "CAPO" humanitarian fund-raising trip which traversed the world from the North Cape of Norway to Cape Town, South Africa - from north to south of the world in all weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from -22°F (-30°C) to 122°F (+50°C).

To ensure maximum versatility and total comfort, the Marathon jacket consists of three layers. The outer shell is made from extremely strong and abrasion resistant 220g Tenax Polyamide with areas of Tenax Flex stretch for added comfort; perforated mesh lining for improved breathability; reflective zones for visibility while night riding; dynamic air intakes on the sleeves, shoulders and rear for breathability; five external pockets (including two waterproof) and rear pocket for use of an optional Hydroback hydrating system. CE-approved Force-Tech protective pads on shoulders and elbows are included, while Spidi’s optional Warrior Evo (CE level 2) back protector or Warrior back and chest protector (CE level 1) may be purchased separately.

The second layer, which can be used as an independent jacket, is a waterproof breathable H2OUT jacket, with a high collar for additional protection against the elements. The third layer is an insulated lining. The aluminized fabric absorbs body heat and makes for an extremely warm inner layer, perfect for even the coldest of conditions.

Versatile and High Quality I have owned this jacket with the matching pants for 3 years now. It has been with me through searing desert heat and freezing cold. Most recently on a trip from Phoenix to the coast of California and up it again proved to me how versatile a jacket it is. Starting in 107 degree heat for the better part of 6 hours I wore the outer shell with all vents open, unzipped but with a few snaps done and a hydration pack inserted in the back. A heat-out base layer from Cycle Gear underneath and the pant with no liner all vents open. Next day through the mountains north of San Bernadino, I closed some vents, zipped the jacket. Later that day across the Mojave, unzipped and open vents. By the time we reached Oregon we had rain, fog and mid 50's - I inserted the full liners with most vents closed - never felt the cold. I love this jacket. Best features - white colour very visible without being hi-vis yellow; the chest vents are so clever - when open the design actually pushes open the vent to accept more air; the neck snap is on a piece of velcro so it can move easily; leg straps keep jacket from riding up. However it is a complicated arrangement. You need some time to insert the layers and snap them into place. And the inner shells take up a lot of storage room. That being said I wouldn't want to take a tour without it. June 29, 2016
Awesome jacket, good features. Just got a new (to me) bike and was replacing my old riding gear. I learned last time just to go ahead and spend the money to get good gear the first time. I did happen to catch this on clearance but I got a good jacket...I've worn it in 95* heat, in the rain, and with temps down into the high 30s and have been pretty impressed so far (35-45 minute ride into work). I have had a button come out and a couple of the straps break but that was me being rough taking it off. I would like to see zippers or snaps instead of the loops/straps, but It's still a good system. Highly recommend this jacket! November 9, 2015
Great jacket...lots of features. This jacket is super versatile, has a lot of great features and is a really great value. July 27, 2015
Comfortable and dry. I've ridden 1,100 plus miles in San Francisco Bay Area weather, I am very comfortable with just the outer layer. I have all the vents open, and I always feel dry. The mesh really helps with air circulation, even during stop and go traffic. I have a good wind shield, so I only start to feel cold with vent open when temperature drops to 55°F and in foggy condition 65°F. I'm 5'-8" with 38.5" chest and weighting 182 lbs and I perspire a lot. With just the outer layer, it is a loses fit. I bought the black/orange to match my KTM 1190A, and for the quality in design of the neck collar. I never notice any discomfort during my rides. October 31, 2014
Use size chart Great jacket with many features. Really nice styling. Very tight fit with both liners in. Order the next size up. Jacket fit perfect with no liners and seemed like it would vent well in that trim. Unable to zip up with both liners or even move arms. I really wanted this jacket to work, however I exchanged it with no hassles. August 13, 2014
High quality, beautiful jacket, but not worth the money This is an all weather, high quality jacket, apparent as soon as you put it on; spring snaps, the different materials used in the construction of the shell, etc. but... What I didn't like is; - the two liners, the thermal liner attaches to the waterproof liner, which then attaches to the inside of the shell. But you can't leave out the WP liner (which is very rubbery & am sure doesn't breath) to just attach the thermal liner for cold, dry days, which are frequent in SF bay area in winter. - it doesn't come with any back protector, which is another $60-$110 & the back protectors from my other jackets are too small for the large pocket in the Spidi. For this price range jacket, it should be included. I wore it around the house for about a wk debating, as it is a really stylish, beautiful jacket. But returned & exchanged for another brand jacket, that has all the features including the two nits mentioned above for $120 less not counting the extra expense for a back protector that came with the less expensive jacket. I am very happy with the alternate jacket I ended up choosing, which is just as high quality and much better value. March 28, 2013
Great style, convienent pockets Used this jacket on a recent 4000 mile trip from Texas to Canada and back, 500miles in rain, temps from 40 to over 100. The jacket performed well, but putting the liner in the jacket was a small hassle not a real problem. The liner is not breathable like the goretex one in my other jacket so I will be swapping that one, but I do have to say it kept me dry. The armor is good, but does not come with a back protector.
