Good hybrid helmet with cool look This helmet is lightweight, has really good vision, and has a pretty tough shell, but the only problem i have with it, is that the visor only has a fully open or fully closed capability. The only thing i would change on this helmet. Great look though, Silver Visor will be a great addition and make me look like master chief from Halo. Lol. but overall pretty good helmet. Just wish the visor could lock halfway. But with that being said, there is very little fog effect if i even get any, very breathable helmet, and very very lightweight. October 27, 2014
Good value, needs some revisions Overall, this helmet is nice. It's well made and has very good fit and finish. I use it for local riding but have a full street helmet for long distance. The good: Well made. Sized correctly (I'm righ between L and XL and the XL fits perfectly,) More oval than round. No pressure on forehead. Vents well. Love the quick-disconnect. Every helmet should have this feature. Snap-in liner pieces. Great feature. No more puzzle-pieces to confound the mind. Just snap in and out. The not-as-good. The visor doesn't firmly snap closed. This causes leaks and unnecessary noise. The liner pieces are too close together between the cheek pads and upper section. It's very difficult to get glasses in the space. Once you do, they sit high on your face. In my opinion, these two not-so-good issues keep this from being a perfect helmet in this genre. Fix these things and I'll buy more. Until then, I still have my Arai XD. A perfect helmet with a perfectly ridiculous price. This S&S helmet is close to being as good as the XD. October 13, 2014
Nice graphics (my first), nice craftsmenship, tight in front, but love this helmet I love this helmet. I normally buy a simple white helmet (Thor dirt bike helmets are the norm) but the high viz green graphics took my fancy, plus at Revzilla the helmet was on sale. What is good: 1) very light, lightest helmet I own although its a dual sport helmet 2) Fine craftsmanship (seems like should be in $$$ range). 3) good clarity with wind screen and beveled wind screen is very easy to move up and down. In fact, I once started to move screen down and found screen was already gone. 4) great graphics (and I like simple normally) 5) Really love the ?? strap don't know what it is called, but I think its a rachet. Just snap on the helmet strap without taking of gloves. 6) Easy to take padding out say for cleaning 7) Ok on noise with screen down 8) Very comfortable padding and fix on top of head. --------------- One serious flaw. The chin guard area or cheek area is very tight. I took out the chin pads and placed under some weights for a week but still very tight in chin pad area. Note, my cheeks get sore so starting taking pads out. Even without cheek/chin pads there's no much room there. Unlike, say my brand new Thor helmet where cheek pads no problem. Hence the 3 star rating. But I will buy another. If the cheek pads thin out maybe I can rewrite August 27, 2014
First helmet This is my first helmet so I didnt know what to expect. Its comfortable and I love the look. But at high speeds if you look left or right the pressure from the air sometimes pulls up the face shield which can get annoying but other than that, the helmet hasnt given me any trouble. SS2500 it is too Small I always wore a Medium size in most of the Helmets. But in this model I had to returned and take the Large. September 4, 2014
Nice Helmet for the price The ss2500 has been a good overall helmet. Nice construction materials for the price. I lost a screw less than a month into it but Speed and Strength replaced it quickly. The cheek pads are very tight when first put on but break in quickly. It is a loud helmet and I do get some tug on the visor going interstate speeds but both those are expected with a hybrid helmet like this one. Overall its a pretty good helmet. August 4, 2014
Loved it, except for one thing... I love this helmet. Looks great, has a great fit once broken in, and the finish is good as well. Favorite part of this helmet was the quick release strap by far. I wish every helmet had that feature. My ONLY gripe with the helmet was that due to the shape of the face shield, when the sun would hit you at the right angle, I'd get a glare on the inside of the face shield. It was annoying for me as I could see my own face on the face shield while I was just walking around in my backyard with the helmet on. I believe this was only caused by the mirror face shield however, so if you get the Smoked face shield or stick with the clear, you'll be fine. July 15, 2014
Not bad but could be better I have been using this helmet for over a year now and here are some of things that I noticed. Pros: -The fit was good but a little tight around the cheeks -Graphics were amazing -Field of vision is fantastic -The quick release chin strap makes it a breeze to put on and off with gloves on -Price point -Light weight Cons: -The face shield cracks open at speed allowing air to come in, not so good at colder temps -Reflective patch at the nape of the neck has worn off -Replacing the face shield is a pain in the but -The visor catches a lot of air at speed (above 70 MPH) -My face shield developed cracks around mounting holes -Front vent is useless, open or closed the same amount of air came through -The top vents do an ok job but could use more venting. Gets extremely hot when stopped in 80+ temps -The front vent broke with in the first month and I had to glue it back on -The cheek pads are starting to wear with putting the helmet on and off. The material is starting to pill July 9, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Eduardo A: bang for the buck and style Nov 24, 2014
Thomas F: I wanted a visor/beak to shade the sun. I had to fashion an extension for extra visor length.
High vis paint faded within nine months; this helmet is never left unworn in the sun.

Erin S asked: Does this helmet have cutouts for speakers/com setup? My current helmet doesn't have any provision for UClear speakers so I'd like to make sure my next helmet does. Aug 18, 2014

Jeff G: No cut outs for speakers. I have the Sena SMH 10 and I just stick the speakers on the material in the helmet using the velcro on the speakers. The material in the helmet doesn't offer a very good mounting surface for the velcro. I find myself having to re adjust them due to them moving around a bit. Aug 18, 2014

Thomas F: I have the SENA FM 5 in my helmet. I had to move the speakers forward (where they are part way under the foam padding) so my ears wouldn't touch. I've been on a thirteen hour ride one day and my ears didn't have an issue with speaker interference. Aug 18, 2014

oswaldo l: Hi thomas, I just got the helmet and want to instal the sena and don't know where, Can you tell me if you pasted it on the hard material of the helmet ? under the little foam? is there a way that you can send a picture? thanks brother Sep 26, 2014
Thomas F: I placed the velcro sticker on the 'hard foam' located under the soft foam of the liner. I'd send photos, but I can figure out how to attach them on this site. Sep 26, 2014
Eric J: It does have some room for placing speakers. I would think you could alter it a bit to work. Here's a pic of mine. I use speakers for my Zumo 550 and it works fine. Aug 18, 2014

Travis K: No cut-outs. Removable pads allow for install of speakers. Fit gets closer to ears when speakers are installed but become better over time.
I really like the helmet and it's fit and features. Durability is not great. I've had to re glue trim pieces and color has faded from sun. For its price it's good. I might spend more on next helmet.

Tim D: There was no extra space provided in the shell near the ears so the empty space in the cheek pads would be the only available space. The cheek pads have a little open space (can see on the pictures of the cheek pads) where a speaker could fit, but there isn't a whole lot of room. Aug 18, 2014

A shopper asked: Does the picture of the Hi-Viz correctly represent the hue of the orange? Is it a blazing "Safety Orange" or is it closer to the picture? I am only worried about the color because the Hi Viz color really clashes with my bike. Oct 16, 2013

WILSON S: The color is the same like the picture, really great combination with gray and black. The shield is clear so you need to include the dark. This helmet is a good option in dual category. Best regards

Tristram M: I have the green one and the green is hi viz for sure. I prefer the bright color so that I get seen riding. I know that bright hi viz helmets have saved me a few times. Oct 17, 2013

Charlie B: I have the green Hi-Viz helmet. It the pictures do seem to give an accurate account for the color. Its not ourageously bright but it will get others riders attention. Oct 17, 2013

Eric J: The color is exactly like in the picture. More of a creamy orange that a Hi-Viz. I hope this helps. Oct 18, 2013

A shopper asked: I want to oder this helmet but I'm worried about size. I currently wear an XL in the Corsair line. Would an XL fit me in this helmet? Mar 14, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Eddy99: Depends on the shape of your head. This helmet fits VERY narrow. I normally wear an Arai RX-7 Corsair in 2XL and it fits me well, if not a bit loose, but I can't even get this 2XL vortex helmet on my head! I even tried taking out the cheek pads and headlines, but it's the shell of the helmet thats too small. I would try either getting a size larger, it definitely fits smaller than Arai. Mar 14, 2013

A shopper asked: I wear an XS/S helmet and prefer not to look like a lego man or lug around the weight of a huge shell stuffed full of padding to make it fit a smaller head (like the Nolan Trilogy). Nov 23, 2012
