Speed and Strength Lunatic Fringe Mesh Jersey
Great alternative to full jacket
Just received this product from a separate carrier. This review is from a new out of the box standpoint and has not yet been field tested. First impressions this thing looks amazing, it's even better looking in person. I was caught of guard by the weight but in a good way. It's heavier than it looks due to the padded protection that feels high quality. It doesn't feel as safe as a normal full jacket but as a lighter alternative with less protection it's perfect. As far as fit goes it runs a tad large. I typically wear a size large shirt and such and that's what I ordered. I'm a skinny guy so it's a bit baggy but regardless but it just feels a little long. I'm 6" and 135lb. But awesome product looks great and offers decent protection. If your considering it just buy it because you won't be disappointed.

I live in Florida (hot most of the year) so I need protection that's not too hot. This pullover does the trick. It's cool but still has a lot of protection. I use it every time I ride.

Speed and Strength Lunatic Fringe Mesh Jersey
Great jacket, no zips. Bought red and black but the white sleeve doesn't really suit it. Should have bought silver. Would be a great seller with good colour schemes. Good air flow but still have to take it off stopped as it is heavier than you think. Reasonable armour for light duty.

Good Jersey, some upgrades, make it great
I have always like the stuff Speed and Strength have put out. I waited to review until I used it, and really test it out. It is a well made jersey. Good quality stitching and its better than the regular mesh jackets. Its a woven mesh, and really allows air to move very well. The sleeves are a little smaller than the average jacket, that may be a surprise to some or feel odd the first time you put it on, but it works out good. When the jersey is on it fits great. BUT the process of getting it on and off is the only downside that I think can be improved some. Putting the jersey on is like getting ready to dive into a pool. Arms and head have to go through all at the same time. Taking it off can be a little uncomfortable and awkward too. Its kind of the reverse as diving in. There is no stretch. A few areas with stretch panels would help a lot. This could be a negative for someone with a bigger build or if you go on short trips and take in on and off a lot, it could get annoying. Quality, comfort, and purpose all hit the mark. I think the intention of the jersey, S&S did good. Just a few modifications would make it better.

would be better with some upgrades
First off I cannot base my review on the functionality of this jersey because I returned it before I was able to ride with it. I am 6' 180 lbs athletic build.
-Looks sick , even better in person
-material is high quality, very durable
-seems like it would flow alot of air
-not best or most comfortable but adaquate armor.
-fitting is weird, reason I returned it was the arms were way to short making arm movement very restrictive. stretchy material in back of shoulders should have been added. couldnt even reach for my bars or even touch my face it was so tight. that said at the same time it was already baggy in the abdomen, so if I went with a XL arms would be good but abdomain would have far to much extra material.
- the wide collar was a bit to wide and was not the most comfortable
- lastly since theres no zipper which is cool it is kind of hard to take on n off, so you definitely wont look smooth putting this on or taking it off on the fly at your destination. kinda like trying to escape from a straight jacket. lol
mind you all of these fitting issuse that apply to me might not apply to you. every body type is different. but I would say theis would fit better on someone with shorter arms. Very disappointed that this didnt work out , I was hyped up for this one. oh well im still sticking with S&S for their decent prices and quality gear.
lastly gotta thank revzilla for being the best in the biz with customer service making my return/exchange as effortless as possible, your stupid if you buy gear from anyone else. thanks

Great idea, not so great execution
i was seeking a lightweight, high air flow, garment for dual sporting and off road riding; that was one self contained unit, not multiple garments like a chest protector and jersey, or pressure suit, wicking t-shirt, and jersey. Did some research and found nothing in the way of personal reviews on this jersey, but decided to give it a shot (because I knew I could return it if it wasn't what I was looking for). It arrived 2 days later, Revzilla really has excellent service. I should add that I also asked a series of questions about it on their "Q&A" section under the product description and they were answered quite quickly.
It is essentially a mesh jacket but without the convenience of a zipper, or pockets, or a liner. It is heavy, as heavy as a mesh jacket. The material is not thin and wicking like a jersey but is the rough and very loose weave of... a mesh jacket. The collar is a "V" neck like a jersey but is only slightly stretchy, so it is a bit cumbersome to don. Sizing seems accurate. I was right on the sizing chart's waist size cusp of XL to XXL and the XL was a good fit. The armor in the shoulders and back fit me well but the elbow padding was all jacked up. If I wore the thumb cuffs as you are supposed to do, the padding was forced to rotate away from my elbow. If I didn't wear the thumb cuffs, I could rotate the padding into the correct position, but it would soon rotate back to it's default (wrong) orientation. Additionally, the back armor, while good armor and well placed, would most likely ride up and off your body in a crash, since the waist of the jersey is loose, like a jersey. It has the option to tie it down to your pants to prevent this, but the tie downs are feeble looking, inconvenient to snap on and off, and I doubt most people would use them, anyway. There is no chest armor even though, with a zipperless front, it would have been perfect for SS to install a one piece plastic armor panel up front to give this a bit more "off road protection". It did flow a good bit of air, but no more than a mesh jacket; and again, it was less convenient overall than a mesh jacket. There are adjusters to take up some slack in the arms and the underarms / torso, but they only offer 2 narrow positions and didn't really impress me. I also dislike the graphics. I fail to understand why products like this always seem to have been designed by a person with the fashion sense of a toddler.
It definitely is a poor choice for off road use and it is less convenient than a mesh jacket for on road use, It appears to be a crossover product that didn't get the memo.
Bottom line on the product; I do not recommend it. I returned it to Revzilla same day. Seamless return, thanks ZLA.
I'll stick with a pressure suit under a jersey for dual sport / off road; and a true mesh jacket for hot weather street riding.

Great Jacket for the price
I was looking for lightweight, breathable, and protective option for my short rides to school and work, and after a couple weeks of owning the Lunatic Fringe Jersey, I'd say I'm very pleased with my purchase. Living in SoCal, the weather is pretty consistent and tends to stay between 75 and 85. This jacket keeps me cool even in temperatures into the 90s; it flows a TON of air! I really like the low profile fit and asymmetrical design. I bought the silver jersey in small and it fits perfect. My only nitpicks are that there is only one was to successfully get the jersey on, which involves putting your arms in then your head and letting gravity with a little bit of wiggling around do the rest. At first it was difficult, but I've got the hang of it now. Also, the thumb hole in the sleeve intended to keep the sleeve from riding up kinda bugs me, so I don't use it. By not using it, the airflow increases up the sleeve which is nice. Overall, Speed and Strength has made an original jacket that's a blend of motocross and street, and is perfect for Supermoto, which is what I use it for.
