Speed and Strength Dogs Of War Textile Jacket
Not really a winter jacket, but otherwise quite good
My ride: 2014 Yamaha FZ-09
I ride year-round on the Colorado Front Range. Temperatures in November through April vary wildly, and while the snow tends to clear quickly, the shorter days mean that median daytime temps are fairly low more of the time. After the sun goes down, it gets particularly chilly. My two "review" rides for this jacket occurred with outdoor temps in the 35F to 40F range. If I recall correctly, this jacket gets listed under 3 or 4 season riding, so I feel it's relevant to describe how it has done for me thus far during the winter of 2015/2016.
On the whole, this jacket does not offer a great deal of wind protection. However, if I layer it with a windstopper fleece underneath, it does fairly well, as long as the ride is under 5 miles. For rides longer than this at true winter temps, I'd recommend a different jacket. However, once ambient temps hit 40F +, it comes into its own as being a reasonably priced jacket which will keep you from going full-hypothermia during your commute. My impression is that this will be an excellent Fall and Spring riding jacket.
I have no sense of its water resistance yet, but I doubt it will do well in the rain.
Overall, I'm going to check it as "Recommended" because it is a pretty good jacket for the money; just not a true four-season jacket.

i own a few speed and strength products and i think this one is probably my favorite. the only downside to the jacket is that i found it was a little snug, i have 2 of the armored shirts in the same size and they are both a looser. other than that, its great, you could easily take out the pads and wear the jacket casually, the styling is great. the green color it basically military drab/olive green and looks like it has just come out of a surplus store which is what i wanted. the sip pockets and belt loops are great as well. and all in all its comfortable, in both riding (cruising) and standing position. i dont think the jacket will offer as much abrasion resistance as a thick denim but it will definitely offer more than the speed and strength shirts. but i think this is reflected in the price.that being said i would would feel comfortable wearing this out on the motorway etc. highly recommend the jacket

Perfect discrete motorcycle jacket
This is the perfect jacket if you want some armor/protection when you ARE ridding but don't want to be screaming "I RIDE A MOTORCYCLE" every time you aren't on the bike. Lets face it, most people don't care that you ride a bike. Fit and finish is awesome, clasps, zippers, buttons, material, mesh on the inside all have good quality feel. I like this jacket so much I plan on removing the armor late fall and using it as an everyday jacket.
Only downside, don't expect it to keep you dry if it starts to drizzle. you'll need a different solution for that.

I wear mine with the Speed and Strength Tough as Nails Leather Vest over it, and I love it. When it gets hot I pop open the sleeves, crack the zipper on my vest and it breathes quite nicely. I've been riding with mine on a daily commute for something like 6 months and still haven't washed it, it's not stinky or even very dirty, maybe some exhaust grime on the arms. I'm not sure what it's treated with but it must be pretty good.
I like the combo with the vest because it keeps the jacket from flapping at higher speeds, and it makes bug removal a sinch. Bugs always bounce off the sleeves so it's no problem.
Style is nice, and I always get older riders asking me what the patch on the shoulder is.
The protection is placed very well and you actually don't notice that they are there.

Really nice and comfortable
Just bought this jacket and took it for a rip. Very comfortable and stylish.. the fit is perfect. I'm 5'8" 185lbs. I bought a medium. Feels comfy and flexible when riding. Love the look. I have a few riding jackets and vests and my wife likes this one the best. BUY THIS JACKET!

Green not Khaki
The Jacket does fit large. It's a relaxed fit, but I knew that from the reviews and a Medium on a 180 lbs frame at 5'11" fits perfectly. The only issue is that the green jacket on the website does not even closely resemble then color of the actual jacket. The green is actually a deep bright forest green rather than a rugged khaki green.
It was put to the test in a slide at 30mph ambulance showed on the scene, and said what the heck is this jacket made of! The plates and materials are durable and flexible hard foam. Good in a bounce or low speed slides. Was wearing sneakers instead of boots, and got a broken ankle like a squid. Any slide over 30 the jacket might need to be replaced. The jacket survived I told them not to cut it off during the ambulance ride. And so my jacket can easily be used again
Last, the jacket is pretty hot. Not alot of airflow especially if wearing a messenger bag or back pack. A few vents would've been a good addition. But the sweat dries nicely on a hanger, because the lining is mesh so it won't get rank, and if it does you can hand wash it. Lot of green in the wash water.
Not good for a long ride because of the heat even in moderate heat or sun. Below 70 or riding at night this jacket is perfect! For the money it's hard to get anything better looking with better protection.

Great mix of style, fit, utility, and protection.
Found this Dogs of War jacket to fit perfectly (I normally wear an XL and ordered an XL). Looks great and the price is nice for a jacket with included elbow, shoulder, and back armor. Plenty of pockets and a removable hood if that's your style. Free next day shipping from Philly to DC is a big plus too! Two thumbs up!

Great fit, and great look!
I really like the way this jacket fits, and the way it looks. The protection seems adequate, hopefully I won't have to test it. The only things I don't like are the way it bunches in the chest while riding, and the lack of inside pockets. Oh well.
