Great for the money
Very comfortable helmet with a wide vision range, great ventilation, and easy-to-access visor features. I ride a naked bike, and at speeds under 60mph this is a fantastic helmet. At speeds over 60mph this catches ALL of the wind and it becomes a struggle for me to stay stable on the bike with my head acting as a sail.
I highly recommend this for "around town" riding. I commute to work on backroads, and this is my everyday commuting helmet. If I'm riding on the highway, however, I'll wear my Shoei GT Air.

Love the look!
I love the look of this helmet, it goes perfect with my flat black Iron 883, but.... it is a little loud, a little heavy and it's pretty hard to see below you.
I will start by saying it's really comfy inside! The air vents really do work and keeps you cool inside. It's very snug, so putting in earphones has been a little challenging, but not that bad. They style is hot, I love it!
So now for the not so great. The loudness of the wind coming up from below the helmet is a little much. Wearing earplugs is recommended.
The helmet is heavy, at least for me. My neck and shoulders start to hurt after wearing it for a while, but on that note, I am a girl, I do work out regularly but it may take some getting used to. This is my first helmet and I wish I would have gone carbon. Next time!
Looking down is a challenge. With the nose/mouth piece, it does cover up a good portion of your view and I find myself over exaggerating to look where I'm going or trying to see beneath me. Add the heaviness and it's a little uncomfortable.
These are things that are not super horrible and I will continue to wear the helmet and hopefully over time I will get used to the not so great things. For the price, I think it's great :)

Worth it on sale
My Biltwell Gringo wasn't doing much good for me in the winter months, so I needed an upgrade in the helmet department. For the amount of features this helmet has, it's great!
I haven't yet been able to fog up the visor, even in the rain.
The sun shield is a really awesome feature, but like others have mentioned, it would be much better if it came down further.
For whatever reason, the wind collar comes out of the helmet FAR too easily. It makes even carrying the Vision-R a bit awkward.
The noise level is far reduced from my Gringo, which I love. The gasket system around the visor works like a charm. Got caught in a downpour yesterday and not a drop got through the visor. I don't expect much noise reduction when it comes to straddling a piece of steel at +/-70mph, so I'm pretty content with the noise level this helmet provides.
Venting system seems adequate enough to me, although it's super difficult to find/operate the induction vent levers on the top of the head with gloves.
By far the best feature of this helmet is it's moniker: the field of vision it provides is awesome
As you can see, the cheek pads haven't really given way quite yet, adding a little bit of chipmunk to my face. If this doesn't give way in time, I'll have to replace the cheek pads with some narrower ones.
Comparable to similar helmets that are 2x the price, therefore: worth it!

Good helmet, but LOUD
I would've given this helmet a 4 or 5 if it were not for one thing. It's just too loud. The air intake on the chin is obnoxiously loud. Even if I close it, I frequently get a slight whistle that I can hear on the sides. Air flow overall on this thing isn't very good. All vents open and it struggles to keep fog off the visor when cold... even over 30 mph.
It does have some things going for it. It looks great. I love the drop down sun visor. It has a satisfying clunk sound when you drop the visor down. The seal on the visor is great, as well. It's a slightly narrow helmet, so keep that in mind.
Overall, I can't recommend it if your doing riding over 30-40mph. The wind noise is just too much.

excellent replacement for Arai RX-Q
I had always worn Arai helmets which are great but expensive. The reason for that was that the Arai helmets felt comfortable for my head shape. This shark helmet has the no pressure point for my head shape but at an unbelievable value price. Also, its quieter than my RX-Q and blocks a lot of wind that enters the helmet from chin. This is a huge advantage in the winter as I ride down to 30 degree weather.
I love the drop down sun shade; with Arai, I had to change out the shield which is major PITA to carry.
Overall I'm very pleased to have found this helmet and for me there's no going back to Arai. Even if this helmet was double the price, I'd still prefer it over Arai RX-Q.

Great quality and stylish
Most of this helmet's characteristics have already been covered here. These are first impressions as I just got mine this week. I have usually gotten 'economy' helmets and my current ones are a Scorpion EXO-400 and a Bell Vortex. I ride mostly for commuting and occasional sport riding. The field of vision on the new helmet is great and makes everything safer, and urban parking much easier. I can't even see the edge of my peripheral vision. I got the Syntic version. I'm not usually one for helmet graphics, but this one is really tasteful and cool. I hope the finish lasts. The lever to crack the shield is a little small but the effect is fantastic, and the lever for the sun shield seems to be of great quality. I concur with others that the sun shade could come down a little farther and be a bit darker but still, it is a great feature that I use almost every day. Maybe they have tested on riders with noses or glasses which would get hit if it came down farther. It's true that it fogs way more than the visor. We have a tropical storm coming up next week so that should be a good test. I can ride with the visor on the lowest detent around town, but it will snap shut occasionally. It's OK but I wish the detent were stronger, as I do with pretty much every helmet I've owned. The slot in the padding for glasses works perfectly and really makes wearing them more comfortable. I was happy to find that the drawstring for the chin roll tucks up neatly into the lining so I am never aware of it unless I need it. The helmet is very quiet when closed. I've only ridden on the freeway once so far but got some weird "popping" when I did, which I have not heard with other helmets. I will experiment with the vents (and maybe the windscreen on the bike) to see if it can be eliminated. Overall, this is definitely the best helmet I've owned and I'm looking forward to years of riding with it.
