Shark Evoline 3 ST Helmet - Solids

Shark’s masterpiece continues on its evolution. Never has a helmet given you such options between street/road riding, open or full face.

Improvements to the Series 3 include:

  • Easier manipulation of the chinbar thanks to the Auto-Up system. The unique motion of the Evoline remains unchanged and has become even more natural with the Series3.
  • The Auto-Up system has been simplified - chinbar and main shield are now united in a single movement.
  • Fabrics, finish and style. The interior of the Evoline Series 3 has been totally redesigned and is softer, better and more comfortable.
  • Brand new ventilation design fore and aft.
  • Overall lower weight has been decreased by approximately 200 grams.

Features:

  • Lexan Polycarbonate shell
  • Shark Easy Fit system for comfortable use with glasses
  • Sharktooth ready
  • Integrated drop down sun shield
  • Removable and washable CoolMax liner
  • ECE 2205 approved with chinbar in both open and closed position
  • ECE 2205 and DOT approved

2nd Helmet I've owned I needed something for her as her eyes would water on the back of my wing. I looked for several weeks and was unindated with helmet info. I came across Anthony's review of the Shark Helment so I bought two, one for me and one for her. The modular design was "new" to me. I like to versatility of open or closed w/the chin bar. Bar up there is good airflow, chin bar and visor down it is very warm inside when it is cool outside...that was awesome..kept my head warm for the trip home. This is not inexpensive but I believe is a good value. I do recommend this product April 18, 2014
Great Modular Helmet $350 is expensive but certainly fro the price you get an excellent product that is as good or better than $500-$600 helmets. Fit was good for me because my head is more round than oval. When in open-face position it tends to press on your forehead which can become uncomfortable but not severely. I imagine this is an aerodynamic impact, it only happens when you approach 50mph. I wear it in open-face below 50mph and full-face over 50mph, this seems to allow the most comfortable airflow all around. I can see all the way to the edges of my peripheral vision and the vertical range is great too. I bought the gloss black and put a chrome finish visor on it, it looks great but when in open-face I do look a bit like Robo Cop. March 17, 2014
Not bad Nice features, love the chin guard swinging backwards. Its a bit heavy, most modulars are. Shell is large compared to others. Air flow could be improved. February 24, 2014
the flip back chin guard is the reason i bought it i really like this helmet,your team is right on about this product.my only small complaint is that when the clear shield is in the up position it makes a slight rattle noise.thank u.. mike k. February 10, 2014
Flip up very nice, but TERRIBLY LOUD This helmet is nicely featured but way too loud. I ride a Goldwing and a CBR1000. On the GoldWing it is okay because I have some of the best wind protection on the street . . . but never again on the CBR1000. The design near the shield hinges makes so much noise I was deafened EVEN WITH 33dB EARPLUGS. Quieter with the chinbar up and away. Replacement face shields are $60+ which is not very reasonable either. when I first got the helmet, the internal shield slider was rattling like crazy. Revzilla helped me to get it fixed but I had to push to do it myself as they wanted me to ship back the unit. Apparently, even the maker or distributor did not know how easy it was to fix and were telling me that I needed to solder something. I fixed it with only a small screwdriver in 15 minutes all told. Looks like a part that will wear out easily as well. Replacement came in a retail like package which might indicate a common replacement part..... Unless you have a huge windshield like I do, this is not the helmet for you. I WISH THIS WAS BETTER as the FLIP UP FEATURE IS GREAT!!!! February 7, 2014
Great year round helmet The ability to ride open faced in hot-humid weather is a very welcome attribute. When the rain or cold comes, being able to close up is a welcome feature. Before I had to carry a separate face shield to protect myself from the rain or wind when it was freezing. Now just have to flip the chin bar and shield. January 27, 2014
Great helmet with one caveat I ordered the Evoline 3 based on the look and unique design features. This well-built modular goes from a full face to a 3/4 quickly with one hand. My local stores don't carry it so fit was a gamble, especially because most reviews I found describe a "long oval" fit and say that it runs a bit large. I wear a 7 5/8" hat size and ordered the XL. The head fit is fine, but the cheek pads in the Evoline 3 made it uncomfortably tight on the jaw. Easily removed, however, I snapped the pads out and the helmet now fits great. Everything else about this product is exactly as described, and I'm very happy with it so far. December 28, 2013
Nice design but large shell A friend has mine has the EVO 2 and loves it, I like the design. The option of full face or 3/4. Im a small guy 5'7" and using the chart I ordered a medium(just less than 23"). Helmet was way to tight. but the deal killer was the size of the shell. It was huge makeing me look like a mushroom. Sending it back and Im going to try the Scorpion EXO 900 instead. December 5, 2013

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Dennis T: this is the perfect all weather and all type riding helmet for Georgia - fully enclosed with chin guard for freeway safety and cold, rainy weather and then completely open for warm sunny days around town! Apr 10, 2014
James B: I watched the video and read the reviews and decided to go with this helmet. Apr 2, 2014
SOPHIA L: Reviews, video from revzilla had my boyfriend and I sold! Mar 18, 2014
Dan S: Needed new helmets, seen the modular helmet then the video that anthony put on. I am sold on the idea however we shall see how they perform Mar 9, 2014
Brad W: I liked the versatility of being able to use the helmet as either a 3/4 or a full face. I did a long trip with the helmet (2200 miles) and found the helmet to work Very well. The only problem I had with it was in the rain, which we only had to deal with luckily for about 20 mins., and the visor did not shed the water away very well. Being a new helmet and my lack of experience with it, may be a factor. Otherwise, I found it comfortable and worked well with the audio and comm system I was using. Mar 7, 2014
Edward W: I live in an extreme hot climate and the ability to ride with this helmet in the open position is what sold me on it. Feb 19, 2014
Steven O: Wanted a Modular helmet so I can flip up chinbar and get more air in hot summer months and support for visor since my other helmets visors vibrate too much at highway speeds. Feb 5, 2014
Robert M: Your youtube video. Jan 21, 2014
michael k: because its a full face and 3/4 face helmet in one! also it has a new shape for the head (oblong) Jan 20, 2014
ANDREW B: The awesome features w/o sacrificing protection, bluetooth upgrade capability and good price. Jan 8, 2014
Jeffrey O: Great looks, cool flip feature, high customer and safety ratings. Jan 3, 2014
Russell L: I always ride with a modular helmet and like many, when making a stop at a store....raising the front leaves it hanging heavy on the head...and when i want some fresh air riding with it open is a pain.
Hopefully this will make a difference with this issuel

Gregory G: Always look so weird with the modular helmets when you lift up the lower part . And it creates wind turbulence on your helmet. In this case the elegant part is achieved and the comfort when riding with the open face option Dec 23, 2013
Joshua A: I wanted a modular helmet with the ability to lock the chin bar at the rear of the helmet. I don't like the look of the chin bar in the vertical position. The helmet fits perfectly and is incredibly comfortable with both chin bar down or in 3/4 open face position. This is a great helmet! Dec 17, 2013
Stacey M: My husband has the Shark evoline 2 helmet and really liked all the features and fit. For Christmas, I'm upgrading him to the 3. Dec 4, 2013
William B: Have had this helmet almost 1 year & Love IT >>>> Dec 2, 2013
patrick n: A friend at work has one and I liked it. Dec 2, 2013
Wally M: Based on reviews and video. Nov 18, 2013
Michael S: A friend has one. Hope it fits right. Nov 12, 2013
Paul A: Great design, excellent features. I have been through the world of sub-$2-300.00 helmets. The only one that I still use (in the summer) is my Scorpion EXO-100. Once one goes to a more complex system, e.g. modular, the materials, and engineering become paramount. For the sake of a lb., I didn't want to max spend on a Schuberth C3 or Shoei. The Shark Evoline is top-reated and the only one beyond Scorpion's EXO-900 that allowis you to legitimately ride with it in 3/4ths mode/open-face. Nov 3, 2013
David Lee V: I wanted the ability to convert to a full face helmet when the weather changes without having to stop and snap on or remove a shield. This helmet meets my expectations. Oct 15, 2013
Steven G: to replace evoline 3 that I purchased 10/6 and that arrived with a broken sunvisor mechanism and which I have returned Oct 12, 2013
Kenneth W: Great reviews Sep 30, 2013
Harry S: Recommended by a friend. I like the idea that you can flip the whole chin bar clear to the back of the helmet for riding around in town at low speed without the buffeting that would be encountered if you tried riding with the chin bar up with other brands. Price was also a factor. Sep 17, 2013
Mr W: Not sure until I try it Sep 16, 2013
Ian D: Matches my Suziki BOSS , meant to be the best convertible helmet on the market - I'll find out! Sep 15, 2013
R O: I had a Shark Evoline I purchased back in 2009. I used it for 3 years. Great helmet. Then I decided to upgrade to Evoline 3 ST. Even better. I'm very satisfied. Sep 13, 2013
Malcolm F: I need a full face helmet for the express ways in Japan, but would like an open face helmet for commuting in the blistering summer heat in Tokyo, in winter I need a sun visor for the low sun in the early morning, so this helmet seems to be the best all rounder. Aug 25, 2013
A shopper asked: I noticed that this helmet is not Pinlock compatible. What other fog management accessories would work? I 'm thinking about a stick-on insert like Fog City or ProGrip. I used it in my previous helmet, but it rubbed on the gasket while opening and closing the shield and eventually got too scratched. Does anyone have an experience using stick-on inserts on Evoline 3? Jeffrey G: I've not had any fogging issues and I have not used any products. I just rode from NJ to Lake George Ny, 200 miles in 36-40 degree temps without any issues. Don't know if this helps you or not. Hope it does. Jeff Mar 31, 2014

A shopper asked: How comfortable is this helmet for those of you who wear glasses? Nov 16, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Darcy M: I mostly ride with it open so Im usually wearing sunglasses with it. It's perfectly comfortable for me. My wife sometimes wears sunglasses in hers and she had a pinching problem with one pair so she bought another pair of sunglasses that are a slightly different shape and they're great. In other words as long as you have the proper frames it's great Nov 17, 2013

Arnold H: The helmet has two removable pads at the top of the cheek pads that can be removed for my glasses. This has been one of the better helmets I have used when I wear my glasses. Nov 17, 2013

Michael T: I wore it with glasses on a longer ride and it got a bit painful. That being said, the helmet is a rather snug fit as it is and the glasses have pretty chunky frames. Nov 17, 2013

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kenneth C: I don't think you can get a different color extern visor. Why would you want one? Double smoke visors? Mine has been good on both the original and now the 3 ST. Dec 28, 2013

Safi: Yes. I think I remember seeing in a video a while back that all revzilla-sold helmets are at least DOT approved. Regardless, this one has a DOT sticker on the back of it. It's also ece 22-05 as well. Jul 31, 2012

57Driver: Yes. I just received my Evo 3 about a week ago and it does have the DOT sticker on the back and the ECE/22-5 rating which is the European testing approval. Aug 13, 2012

Cody M asked: I have an EVO2 and considering a new helmet mostly because of noise from the EVO2. I am considering a Nolan 104, but wanted to ask if anybody can comment on how noisy the EVO3 is in comparison to other modular or better yet the EVO2 if anybody has owned them both. ?

Thanks

stuart h: This is a fine helmet
Except the slider in top ripped apart when flip up was put back
This exposed a steel strip which sliced my hand open
I have photos of the cut
Revsilla refused replace
Said it was makers problem
I say it wqs the sellers problem
I am very diappointed with Revzilla

Dawson Blackmore J: I have both, after an accident I got a 3 and like it better than the old one, a #1. Even though it's not as quiet as a full the ability to just flip the chin up is worth it. Jan 15, 2014

Alex S: I sent mine back because I was disappointed in how flimsy the plastic and the closure of the chin protector is. A good looking helmet though and fit well. I ordered a Shuberth instead looking for better quality, and the quality does indeed appear sturdier but had to send that back because the Shuberth requires a long German forehead. Short american foreheads have the helmet land in the middle of the eyebrows or lower. Feb 28, 2014

A shopper asked: will it accomodate the Scala Cardo Q2? Aug 25, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
KewlBreeze: Don't know about the Q2 but G4 I think is similar in size and I got it to fit but I had to tear apart the sides a bit to do so. In short, it wasn't made to fit it easily but you can make it happen with a little persistence. Aug 26, 2012

A shopper asked: How forgiving is the size chart? The XL Evoline maxes out at 24.4, but my head measures 24.5-6. Aug 24, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
MotorMonkey: I, too, have a big cranium. The XL works for me, but I definitely notice some hotspots on longer rides. I've seen videos where there's a foam pad under the liner you can remove for a bit more comfort, so I'm looking into that. I'm commuter though, and XL definitely works fine for me. Aug 27, 2012
Reply to MotorMonkey Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
KewlBreeze: You should be okay with XL. This helmet is slightly on the larger side anyway when compared to some other brands (from reviews I've read). Also, the pads wear in a bit over time. I had a large Shoei and the Medium Shark Evo fit me perfectly. Aug 26, 2012
Reply to KewlBreeze Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
shadowrider121: I have a large head too. My previous helmet was an HJC in an XXL. I ordered the XL and I can almost guarantee you that you will fit it. Also, the padding loosens up a bit over time. Nov 6, 2012

A shopper asked: do these helmets have the AUS/NZS 1698: 2006 compliance stickers Aug 6, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
57Driver: I have not seen that on my Evo 3, it does have the DOT and the ECE/22-5 sticker which is the US and the European testing standards. Aug 13, 2012

RevZilla: Helmets purchased from RevZilla (or any other US dealer) are US DOT certified, they will NOT include an AUS standards sticker. Aug 8, 2012

A shopper asked: How does this helmet fit compared when compared to a Nolan N103? Apr 20, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Nolan N103 had a fairly round interior fit. The new, Nolan N104 now actually has a more elongated interior. They increased the space in the front and back, around the crown of your head, while making it a bit more narrow on the sides.

It may still work for you, but if you are worried, you could also take a look at the LaZer Monaco Helmet. The LaZer has a round interior, more similar to the N103.

A shopper asked: Weight difference between Shark Evoline 3 and a Schubert C3 Pro Mar 4, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: As far as the Shark Evoline 3 ST:

Medium = 1855 g
Large = 1905g
XL = 1875g
The original C3:

Medium = 1655g
Large = 1595g
XL = 1785g
At this time, the only C3 Pro which we were able to weigh was a size Medium that was equipped with the SRC system. It weighed 1754g.

The reasons for the variations between sizes are due to the differences between shell size, EPS liner size, and padding size.
