Shark Evoline 3 ST Helmet - Solids

The Shark Evoline 3 ST breaks new ground, picking up where previous Evoline helmets have left off and continuing to lead the way in modular helmet design. Shark's innovative Auto-Up system allows riders to rotate the chinbar of the Evoline 3 ST completely around to the back of the helmet and lock it in place, transforming from full face helmet to DOT/ECE 22.05 approved open-face helmet in just seconds.

An integrated drop-down internal sun visor, Sharktooth integration and Shark's Easy Fit system for eyeglasses just add to the Evoline 3 ST's already stellar reputation for being a bear in the modular helmet market.  Great for long distance riding, inner city commuting and anything in between, the Shark Evoline 3 ST offers riders an unrivaled level of comfort, protection and freedom.

Improvements to the Series 3 include:

  • Easier manipulation of the chinbar thanks to the Auto-Up system. The unique motion of the Evoline remains unchanged and has become even more natural with the Series3.
  • The Auto-Up system has been simplified - chinbar and main shield are now united in a single movement.
  • Fabrics, finish and style. The interior of the Evoline Series 3 has been totally redesigned and is softer, better and more comfortable.
  • Brand new ventilation design fore and aft.
  • Overall lower weight has been decreased by approximately 200 grams.

Features:

  • Lexan Polycarbonate shell
  • Shark Easy Fit system for comfortable use with glasses
  • Sharktooth ready
  • Integrated drop down sun shield
  • Removable and washable CoolMax liner
  • ECE 2205 approved with chinbar in both open and closed position
  • ECE 2205 and DOT approved

Shark Evoline 3 ST Helmet - Solid Colors 4.4 5 284 284
I like it I've been looking for a modular with a chinbar that goes all the way to the rear, completely out of the wind, for years. This is it. It's fairly quiet, but you can get quieter. It's fairly comfortable, but it's a little shorter front to back and looser side to side than' I'd like. Ventilation is adequate, no complaints as long as I'm moving. If I'm on city streets with frequent stop lights, the chin bar goes to the back, and I wear it 3/4. The cheek pads are a little obtrusive, and I can't get the helmet on without taking my glasses off. Might take the cheek pads out if I can't get used to them. They're removable, so that's a plus. But regardless of these things, there is not a whole lot of choice when it comes to a fully convertible 3/4 to full face. If that's what you're looking for, don't let perfection stand in the way of "good enough". June 15, 2015
Two helmets for the price of one. I like the way this helmet can be used as a full face and 3/4 helmet. I love it. The integrated sun visor keeps me from having to fumble with sun glasses, and makes it easy to ride on paths with shade and sun. June 1, 2015
The one; the ONLY I usually don't write reviews but this helmet is worth taking the time. The first thing is that this is the *only* helmet of it's kind as far as I can tell. I searched long and hard and this was all I saw. It is more of an transformer (Autobots rolls out!) than a "modular" but either way nothing compares. The unique qualities make it kind of exotic really. I love being able to basically have one helmet to cover me in situations where I would normally have 3-4 helmets. In fact I no longer need 3 of the helmets that I own thanks to the Hakka. The design is nice. Not too flashy and the white keeps you that much cooler on a hot day. That touch of red is pretty sexy too. The lines are great and even just the shape is sexy when you look at it. The helmet isn't as heavy as my full face HJC so add another point there I suppose. The clear face shield with the smoke visor separate is excellent! You can use them in whichever way you want depending on your needs. The chin bar is way more solid than you could ever imagine/want. It literally has locking lugs to it. When you open the helmet and flip it back it is so light and easy you can do it while riding and when you bring that bad boy down you push back on the chin bar and hear a *click* and know it is secure on BOTH sides. When you do flip it up and you have clear visor down it is definitely great to have the one movement/motion and you get it right out of the way. Do keep in mind that if you bring the chin up and then back down you want that clear visor in the UP position. It won't break it but you'll get a nasty oil/film from the rubber gasket on the top 1/4" of the visor for sure. I guess with enough stupidity/force you could cause real damage. TL;DR: Don't have the visor down when you bring the chin-bar down. Now you have a full face helmet, a 3/4 helmet, and then both of those with a clear visor and a sunshade smoke visor which quite honestly is *dark* and awesome! I have a couple that aren't as dark and believe me this one is the best I have seen. Also it covers your peripheral with shade which is AWESOME! Can not tell you how aggravating it is to have 80% or less coverage on the sides. This drops low and is definitely covering you from any side-sun-blindness as well! Best sunshade I have ever had. Also more than enough room if you wear glasses like I do. I spent the weekend riding in 90 degree humid heat and the helmet handled it. In fact I could close the visor and still have plenty of airflow and not get overheated. It doesn't look like much but the venting definitely does the job. I have a commute of about 60 miles and then a joyriding habit on the weekends that can take me much further. Speeds ranging from curvy back-road 20's to interstate 90's and everything in between. I have seen some people mention noise with modular helms. My experience with full face helmets is all I have to compare this to. Both of the ones I have (HJC & Arai) are just as loud as the Hakka if not louder with the HJC. For the Arai I would actually call it a tie. I have seen/heard some people saying noise is an issue still and I did notice that with the chin bar up, and the clear visor up as well you do get a good amount of wind noise at higher speed. Know what makes it dead silent? Put the clear visor down. Easy solution to me. I would give it 9/10 on noise level. Especially the silence at high speeds with full-face mode engaged and visor down. Serenity now! Another thing that is definitely worth mentioning is the anti-fog ACTUALLY WORKS! When I say "works" I mean like professional pro-grade-epic-victory works! I didn't get even a hint of fog up at all. Temp changes, rain drops, breathing heavily, coughing, even *purposely* trying to make it fog ... all of that not even a tiny bit. Let's talk about sizes! Pay attention to the size of your noggin. I have had a bunch of helmets and the sizes always vary but the Shark is the only one I have worn that truly sticks to their numbers. If you measure your head and you are above the XL do not bother even trying. My dome is exactly 24" and they said 24-24.4". Gotta be honest here: When I got it the first day it was so tight I thought my head was going to cave in. I had to double check the tag and make sure it was the right size. I actually called RevZilla and was going to send it back when the guy suggested trying to sit on the couch for about 30 mins and see what happens. I'm not sure if any of you know exactly how ridiculous a large bearded man looks while sitting on a couch for hours on end with a full / 3/4 helm on watching Game of Thrones and playing XBox is but I assure you ... it is 100% ridiculous looking and 100% worth it. About 20 minutes in I felt better. After a couple of days this thing is 100% broken in. The absolute perfect fit for me. The padding is amazingly tight at first but also very VERY molding when worn. After more than a few weeks there is nothing that I do not love about this helmet. Everyone who sees it loves it and I am pretty sure this is the best helmet I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Review TL;DR: This helmet is awesome and you should buy it and thank me later. July 6, 2015
Love the convertible! This helmet is very comfortable and sizing is accurate. I love the ability to fully open the helmet for riding around town and at slower speeds. I have not tried any of the shark bluetooth products in the helmet, but I like that it is set up to handle. I also like the removable pads at the temples to allow for glasses. Great features! May 11, 2015
Great helmet I purchased the EVO3 because a friend let me try his. The older models seem to run on the small side but the new EVO3 fits closer to normal. I wear a XL and i nwas able to wear his large, it was too tight, but I expected that. I ride about 20,000 miles a year and this helmet, with the light weight and added features I think I am going to be extreamly pleased. Simply having the chin bar out of the wind when not in use should help with neck strain. May 11, 2015
Great Features with a few problems! I bought this helmet since the chin bar rotated back. I didn't want to buy 2 different helmets for riding. This is the same helmet as the Harley FXRG at a better price. I have the J&M 787 Elite wired head set installed. I would give it 5 stars if the chin went to place easier and face shied didn't leak. Pros: Easy to convert to open face, Little wind noise Cons: Bring the chin bar back and locking into place is a choir, I ride in rainy conditions and it leaks down the inside of face shield. It will fog up and in cooler weather so I have to ride with it cracked open. No pin lock system made for it. April 28, 2015
Best feature is converting from full face to 3/4! This is a very comfortable helmet. The key selling point for me was the chin bar fully rotating to make a full face into a 3/4 helmet! Having ridden for 20+ years in a half helmet it was hard to commit to a full face again, but this works well with communication system and light weight enough to be comfortable riding all day. I mostly ride in the 3/4 position, but when the temp drops it is nice to close it down to cut the wind. I would recommend this helmet! March 24, 2015
This SHARK can swim with the best of them! I have used the Evoline Series 2 since 2010 with a large touring motorcycle and I continue to enjoy it. I am in the process of getting a smaller touring motorcycle and I wanted another SHARK for the new bike. The Evoline Series 3 helmet had the features that I got accustomed to on the older model and the new helmet had the colors that I wanted so I bought it. I also got the SHARKTOOTH feature accessory so I can connect wirelessly into a bluetooth device. I like the SHARK helmet designs and they work well for me. If you want to investigate a convertible helmet for touring use or sport touring then I would recommend investigating the SHARK as a good possibility. May 4, 2015

Brad W: I liked the versatility of being able to use the helmet as either a 3/4 or a full face. I did a long trip with the helmet (2200 miles) and found the helmet to work Very well. The only problem I had with it was in the rain, which we only had to deal with luckily for about 20 mins., and the visor did not shed the water away very well. Being a new helmet and my lack of experience with it, may be a factor. Otherwise, I found it comfortable and worked well with the audio and comm system I was using. Mar 7, 2014

Gregory G: Always look so weird with the modular helmets when you lift up the lower part . And it creates wind turbulence on your helmet. In this case the elegant part is achieved and the comfort when riding with the open face option Dec 23, 2013
Joshua A: I wanted a modular helmet with the ability to lock the chin bar at the rear of the helmet. I don't like the look of the chin bar in the vertical position. The helmet fits perfectly and is incredibly comfortable with both chin bar down or in 3/4 open face position. This is a great helmet! Dec 17, 2013
Stacey M: My husband has the Shark evoline 2 helmet and really liked all the features and fit. For Christmas, I'm upgrading him to the 3. Dec 4, 2013

Wally M: Based on reviews and video. Nov 18, 2013
Michael S: A friend has one. Hope it fits right. Nov 12, 2013
Paul A: Great design, excellent features. I have been through the world of sub-$2-300.00 helmets. The only one that I still use (in the summer) is my Scorpion EXO-100. Once one goes to a more complex system, e.g. modular, the materials, and engineering become paramount. For the sake of a lb., I didn't want to max spend on a Schuberth C3 or Shoei. The Shark Evoline is top-reated and the only one beyond Scorpion's EXO-900 that allowis you to legitimately ride with it in 3/4ths mode/open-face. Nov 3, 2013
David Lee V: I wanted the ability to convert to a full face helmet when the weather changes without having to stop and snap on or remove a shield. This helmet meets my expectations. Oct 15, 2013
Steven G: to replace evoline 3 that I purchased 10/6 and that arrived with a broken sunvisor mechanism and which I have returned Oct 12, 2013
Kenneth W: Great reviews Sep 30, 2013
Harry S: Recommended by a friend. I like the idea that you can flip the whole chin bar clear to the back of the helmet for riding around in town at low speed without the buffeting that would be encountered if you tried riding with the chin bar up with other brands. Price was also a factor. Sep 17, 2013
Mr W: Not sure until I try it Sep 16, 2013
Ian D: Matches my Suziki BOSS , meant to be the best convertible helmet on the market - I'll find out! Sep 15, 2013
R O: I had a Shark Evoline I purchased back in 2009. I used it for 3 years. Great helmet. Then I decided to upgrade to Evoline 3 ST. Even better. I'm very satisfied. Sep 13, 2013
Malcolm F: I need a full face helmet for the express ways in Japan, but would like an open face helmet for commuting in the blistering summer heat in Tokyo, in winter I need a sun visor for the low sun in the early morning, so this helmet seems to be the best all rounder. Aug 25, 2013

A shopper asked: I noticed that this helmet is not Pinlock compatible. What other fog management accessories would work? I 'm thinking about a stick-on insert like Fog City or ProGrip. I used it in my previous helmet, but it rubbed on the gasket while opening and closing the shield and eventually got too scratched. Does anyone have an experience using stick-on inserts on Evoline 3? Joshua G: It does not come with bluetooth. It is built to accept the Sharktooth system (sold separately) with a battery pocket and headphone speaker. Darcy M: I mostly ride with it open so Im usually wearing sunglasses with it. It's perfectly comfortable for me. My wife sometimes wears sunglasses in hers and she had a pinching problem with one pair so she bought another pair of sunglasses that are a slightly different shape and they're great. In other words as long as you have the proper frames it's great Nov 17, 2013

Thomas F: I used a Sena bluetooth system on my Evoline 3 helmet. Needed communication with other riders that did not have CB.

I did use the HD stereo headset on the Evoline 2 series helmet that I had before I purchased the 3. It worked great for me. I think the construction of the two versions is close enough that it should work on the series 3.

Hope this helps.

Cody M asked: I have an EVO2 and considering a new helmet mostly because of noise from the EVO2. I am considering a Nolan 104, but wanted to ask if anybody can comment on how noisy the EVO3 is in comparison to other modular or better yet the EVO2 if anybody has owned them both. ?

Thanks

Dawson Blackmore J: I have both, after an accident I got a 3 and like it better than the old one, a #1. Even though it's not as quiet as a full the ability to just flip the chin up is worth it. Jan 15, 2014

Alex S: I sent mine back because I was disappointed in how flimsy the plastic and the closure of the chin protector is. A good looking helmet though and fit well. I ordered a Shuberth instead looking for better quality, and the quality does indeed appear sturdier but had to send that back because the Shuberth requires a long German forehead. Short american foreheads have the helmet land in the middle of the eyebrows or lower. Feb 28, 2014

stuart h: This is a fine helmet
Except the slider in top ripped apart when flip up was put back
This exposed a steel strip which sliced my hand open
I have photos of the cut
Revsilla refused replace
Said it was makers problem
I say it wqs the sellers problem
I am very diappointed with Revzilla

A shopper asked: will it accomodate the Scala Cardo Q2? Aug 25, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
KewlBreeze: Don't know about the Q2 but G4 I think is similar in size and I got it to fit but I had to tear apart the sides a bit to do so. In short, it wasn't made to fit it easily but you can make it happen with a little persistence. Aug 26, 2012

A shopper asked: How forgiving is the size chart? The XL Evoline maxes out at 24.4, but my head measures 24.5-6. Aug 24, 2012

MotorMonkey: I, too, have a big cranium. The XL works for me, but I definitely notice some hotspots on longer rides. I've seen videos where there's a foam pad under the liner you can remove for a bit more comfort, so I'm looking into that. I'm commuter though, and XL definitely works fine for me. Aug 27, 2012

KewlBreeze: You should be okay with XL. This helmet is slightly on the larger side anyway when compared to some other brands (from reviews I've read). Also, the pads wear in a bit over time. I had a large Shoei and the Medium Shark Evo fit me perfectly. Aug 26, 2012

shadowrider121: I have a large head too. My previous helmet was an HJC in an XXL. I ordered the XL and I can almost guarantee you that you will fit it. Also, the padding loosens up a bit over time. Nov 6, 2012

A shopper asked: I've been loving my Shark Evoline Series 3 for a year or two and want another. They have 'ST' in the name now and I don't recall that. Is the 'ST' different and if so how? Oct 14, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Thomas F: I believe 'ST' says that the helmet is compatible with Shark's bluetooth kit call Sharktooth. Oct 27, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi all,

I'm looking for replacement torx screws on the side of this helmet, during some cleaning and maintenance lets just say they sprouted legs and walked. I know I could goto the hardware store but I like to keep it factory if possible. Anyone can help?
Jun 9, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Jeffrey G: Well, you could write to Shark in France but I would probably hit up a hardware store and look for black screws. The stock are the "star" screws. I would probably go for black Allen screws. Cheap and easy fix that only you will see.
Just my thoughts.....

A shopper asked: How does this helmet fit compared when compared to a Nolan N103? Apr 20, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Nolan N103 had a fairly round interior fit. The new, Nolan N104 now actually has a more elongated interior. They increased the space in the front and back, around the crown of your head, while making it a bit more narrow on the sides.

It may still work for you, but if you are worried, you could also take a look at the LaZer Monaco Helmet. The LaZer has a round interior, more similar to the N103.

A shopper asked: Weight difference between Shark Evoline 3 and a Schubert C3 Pro Mar 4, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: As far as the Shark Evoline 3 ST:

Medium = 1855 g
Large = 1905g
XL = 1875g
The original C3:

Medium = 1655g
Large = 1595g
XL = 1785g
At this time, the only C3 Pro which we were able to weigh was a size Medium that was equipped with the SRC system. It weighed 1754g.

The reasons for the variations between sizes are due to the differences between shell size, EPS liner size, and padding size.
