Schuberth SR1 Helmet

The Schuberth SR-1 helmet is one of the most technologically advanced helmets available. The Schuberth SR1 is a super-sport helmet which has been developed for optimum performance on the racetrack, and is both ECE and DOT certified. Thanks to its advanced aerodynamics the helmet is at all times stable in the wind and even at high speeds creates no upward lift.

Outer Shell:

  • The outer shell of the SR1 is offered in three shell sizes and combines an aerodynamically optimal shape suitable for racing with excellent protection
  • Shell material: S.T.R.O.N.G. fiber and carbon
  • Special glass fiber reinforced special duroplast matrix with an additional carbon layer to ensure extremely low weight
  • The glass fiber-carbon compound is compressed in a vacuum at a pressure of 4.5 bar to form a helmet shell which is exceptionally sturdy

Inner Shell:

  • Made of specially optimized EPS foam
  • Used exclusively by Schuberth
  • Complex multizone foaming allows optimal shock absorption

Inner Lining:

  • In addition to its excellent fit, the pad system of the SR1 also stands out on account of the complex ventilation and extraction system
  • Double-coated Coolmax suspension, skin-friendly with very good warming properties, transports moisture
  • Variable for effective ventilation
  • Fully removable and washable
  • Ergonomic design for maximum wear comfort
  • Antiallergenic / antibacterial material

Faceshield Mechanism:

  • Extremely quick replacement of the visor shield with Schuberth's push-release system
  • Simple and convenient handling
  • Visor shield is installed and removed without tools
  • Faceshield is Pinlock-ready
  • Pinlock is guaranteed condensation-free thanks to its double glazing technology

Schuberth A.R.O.S.:

The Anti-Roll-Off System (A.R.O.S.) especially developed by Schuberth is provided as a safety feature in every Schuberth motorcycle helmet. It ensures that provided the chinstrap is closed and correctly adjusted:

  • The helmet cannot pivot off the head from behind
  • The risk of contact between the chin section of the helmet and the chin or neck of the rider is minimized due to the small angle of tilt
  • The consequences of the helmet coming into contact with the chest as the result of an accident are reduced
  • Race-proven double-D fastener system enables the chinstrap length to be set easily and precisely

  • Aerodynamic shape
  • Upward lift = 0!
  • Directionally stable
  • No oscillatory tendency
  • No buffeting
  • The D-Force spoiler enables the SR1 to be adjusted to the riding posture in such a manner that ideal behavior of the helmet in the air flow is guaranteed at all times

  • Schuberth motorcycle and racing helmets are developed and optimized under scientific conditions in the Schuberth wind tunnel
  • Installation of a wind deflector enables the aeroacoustics and consequently the noise level to be improved still further
  • Approximately 88dB(A) at 100 km per hour (with closed machines)

  • Visor vent to reduce faceshield fogging
  • 2 head ventilation inlets (adjustable)
  • 2-way chin vent for targeted distribution of the incoming air in the helmet
  • 3-way chin vent
  • Variable pad system
  • Visor vent
  • Head vent
  • Ventilation and cooling of the cheek pads
  • Active air extraction system

DOT and ECE-R 22.05 certified.

Simply the best! Just buy it! No words can describe this helmet,,, was considering to buy AGV pista go but I am extremely happy with my SR1. January 20, 2015
A Professional Break Down For You! Bang For The Buck - This helmet is exactly what it's suppose to be and everything it's not suppose to be. You are paying $1000.00 bucks for leading technology, leading aerodynamics, functional features, lightweight, efficiency and style. This helemt is designed for speed but looks freaky fast also at slow speeds. Comfort - Its definitely race fit tight. Requires break in time to become comfortable. Of course, it depends on your head shape. Protection and Durability - Just about Perfect. Lots of moving parts. Seems like it would have to have something break somewhere, but so far so good. Levels and latches seem solid. Air Flow - Insane air flow when all four vents are open. I only required the face shield vent underneath the chin guard for sufficient airflow. But it hasn't been hot out yet. Features - Excellent thought went into the features. To many to mention. But to give you the idea, the helmet has doors you can easily open or close for better hearing. You can tune he hearing with the patches inside the helmet. Crazy awesome stuff. Fit - I normally wear a medium, so I ordered a medium. Oh so tight. But I know this helmet will break in perfectly. It took two hours before I started feeling it right out of the box. But it's definitely "race fit". Very snug. Noise Level - With all the vents closed and the available chin skirt (curtain) installed, with the ear gates closed, it's noisy. Not crazy noisy, but noisy. But that is totally expected with a lightweight, racing helmet made out of premium materials. Ear plugs made it hum beautifully. And I have a loud exhaust. Weight - I have more helmets then I care to share with you. This helmet just feels incredible. You feel virtually no wind resistance and when you turn your head, you basically don't even know it's on. After five minutes of riding, you forget you even have the helmet on. It's that light. Shape - Not round, but not narrow. More narrow then round but definitely intermediate to narrow. It's absolutely impossible to get a helmet that fits perfectly without breaking them in. Unless you're extremely lucky. Everyone's head is different. Just know it's snug, and slightly more narrow then round. Vision - Optically perfect. You don't know good vision until you have this quality of shield. I purchased the iridium 80% shield, and it just makes this helmet look kick a**. I didn't need or use the (gross yellow) anti-fog shield. Plus it was extremely cloudy. I think it was old. Not sure. Couldn't quite figure that out, but absolutely is not needed with such good air flow in this helmet. BOTTOM LINE - All things considered, I dropped $1100.00 on this helmet and Iridium face shield. I have a big a** smile on my face and could not be happier. I feel this helmet is worth it. December 7, 2014
Track day/sport rider hat I own Schuberth C3 I use when touring and over 3 years and 25,000 miles of touring have come to appreciate the uncompromising quality, fit, and finish of the brand. I got to use a Schuberth SR-1 for two days at the California Superbike School camp so I knew what I was buying when I ordered mine from Revzilla. The Large fit me perfect at CSS with their broken in helmet but I was a 'tweener size between a L and an XL in a new hat. The XL fit me comfortably but my head bottomed out in it (not good). The Large (59) fit my head perfectly but squashed my fat cheeks. I ordered the Large and after a week of my own accelerated break in, it fit's perfectly. It flows an incredible amount of air compared to any other high end helmet I've owned and yet is as quiet as any of my touring helmets. It's even got little vents in the back to let in MORE sound for riding in traffic. I couldn't be happier and even though this is one of the most expensive track day helmets you can buy, I feel like I got a great value because of the exceptional quality of the helmet. Its loud I can barely hear my bike What a shame, I was expecting a lot more of this helmet when talking about noise. Expensive helmet! Its loud I can barely hear my bike, at speeds over 120 kph its to much, all I hear is wind noise. And why would Michael Schumacher add noise vents nerve the ear to open and close, Jesus Crist.. I have filled the holes in attempt to make it more quiet, but its just to much wind noise I’m overall really disappointed in this helmet, I really like it, fir is great, comfort is great, but the noise is to much, im still looking for a better helmet, I use it on and off, but my favorite is still my cheap Thai Bimola helmet, the most quit helmet so far I have tried, unbelievable. But im not sure Bimola lives up to international standards in safty and stuff :( so really like to find a better helmet. August 25, 2014
Another QC Fail...From Germany of All Places! I didn't get to ride test this helmet for reasons which shall become clear so the following comments are based on my findings after trying it on at home. I was looking forward to experiencing the legendary German build quality in this helmet but was surprised to find a loose and wobbly vent switch on the top straight out of the box so never got to ride in it. Revzilla customer service were quick to take it back and refund it as usual - thanks guys. That aside it felt comfortable, well built and not too heavy. The shell size was about the same as my AGV Pista Carbon and it's just a smidge heavier which is no mean feat against the stripped down Italian. The chin bar seems to protrude more than other brands which makes it appear larger than it actually is. The visor ratchet was quite notchy and the changing system a bit more fiddly than the AGV but it is definitely an improvement over the Arai visor replacement lottery. There is a visor lock slider which seems a bit of overkill and I found it to be too stiff to operate reliably. Good eye port and visibility but the Pista beats all comers in that respect for me, especially in the tuck position. I really wanted to give it a try as my Pista Carbon is not designed for inclement or cold weather sports touring and I need something great for the fall and winter riding season. It just really puts me off when I find obvious manufacturing flaws being missed by quality control when it comes to a safety product (especially an expensive one). August 8, 2014
Best Helmet Feature Wise, Painful After 30 Mins. The hot spot ruined it for me. Did 2 track days and I assume the 20 minute sessions was not enough time to really feel the pressure point right in the middle of my forehead. Decided to use the helmet on a street ride this last weekend and after 30-40 minutes I couldn't wait to get the thing off. Hot spot right in the middle of the forehead that becomes nagging and sore. Helmet fits perfect otherwise. It really is a shame because this helmet is fantastic with ventilation, field of vision, weight and noise. Hope I don't have to sell this at a huge loss now. June 25, 2014
Disapointing & Overrated After 5 years with my Shoei X-11 thought it was time for a new helmet. I guess it's my bald head but I'm getting the forehead hotspot just after a couple of hours. I can't wait to pull over & get this thing off and that's not fun. This thing is a Pain to put on and take off. I don't think the liner is anything special. Going back to my X-11 which I can wear all day in comfort. PS: Shipping was poor. The box was all busted up & taped back together. May 26, 2014
Spend the money it's only your head Helmets are such a subjective item. What works for one person won't for another. Try them on before you buy. I waited until I found an SR1 to try on and I am glad I did. There were none to be found here in MN. Only the SR2 and C3 which are good helmets in their own right, but this SR1 is an amazing helmet for me. The lack of weight, field of vision, ventilation and construction are superior to anything out there. I have owned Arai and Shoei which are nice helmets too. If you use the noise reduction piece that fits under the chin, it can make the helmet a little tight to get off. I tried it, didn't like it and use earplugs anyway. If you can swing the dough make the investment. The fact that you are reading this review and others shows you are concerned about your safety May 28, 2014

Leon C: I used to ride Fulmer, Bell and Shoei. I wanted to try a different helmet so I was shopping for an Arai when a friend told me about Schuberth. I looked into the product and found a local dealer who had one (not the correct size for me) I could see. I was very impressed with the quality. I decided that Schuberth would be my next helmet. Aytac i asked: Hi guys!

I'm wondering how this helmet would fair if I was commuting to and from work everyday and if I wore it for the occasional 2-6 hour long distance ride? I'm just looking for the best helmet I can get in terms of comfort and safety.

Stephan A H: I've owned this helmet for about 6 months and have to say that this is the most comfortable helmet I have ever owned. Good thing too as it sure costs a fair bit of coin.

All kidding aside, I have commuted with this helmet in NYC traffic and ridden all day. It has two locations where I cane feel the helmet pushing or pinching, my forehead and the back of my head. The strange thing is that with this helmet these pressure points NEVER develop into hot points as I've experienced with Shoei or Arai products. If the helmet fits your head the. Go for it.

FWIW. The other Schuberth offerings did not work and the pressure points those helmets created created a burning sensation within 10 minutes that I test wore the helmet.

As for safety I have no first hand experience but comfort and light weight add to less fatigue and this safety.

Elizabeth H: I wear this helmet 2-3 times a week commuting to work and occasionally 200-300 mile days on the weekends and love this helmet. Fit is snug, very quite, very little wind noise. I would buy it again.

Thomas D: Aytac - I wear mine during commutes/tours all the time. It's breaking in nicely, and IMHO is fine for any type or riding - I have no complaints. Nov 11, 2013

Leonard L: I would say yes, it's definitely suited for both commuting and distance. This is by far the best helmet I've owned. I also own the C3 which I bought for distance and I would choose the SR1 just for the lighter weight and the tinted outer shield alone. I recently went on a 6 hr distance ride with the SR1 and it preformed awesome. I even switched out the shields on the road side without dismounting the bike or removing the helmet or my gloves. It is pricy, but if you want the best helmet money can buy then this is it. Nov 11, 2013

Steve P asked: Much has been written about how good the ventilation is. My question is how are the top vents in particular. How close to "wind in the hair" does it get? How do the top vents compare to other Scuberths like the S2 or C3 Pro? Mar 17, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kevin J: This is my first Schuberth. I've had a series of the Corsairs from Arai over the last decade, so I'm not going to be any help making comparisons to the other Schuberths. That said, I won't be going back to the Arai. The SR1 is stunningly light, acoustically very quiet (better than the Corsair) and the ventilation is very good. I don't think any helmet is going to give you "wind in the hair" - "Wind in the hair" ain't gonna protect your grey matter... but, I certainly feel a good draft through my hair when I've got the vents open. Enough, that on cool nights, I shut the vents. Mar 17, 2015

Peter J: Steve I have owned many other lids and this one is by far the best one I have owned. The ventilation is fantastic. You can actually feel the air circulating through the top vents (I shave my head so I can feel it). The chin vent works well too. I ride in Arizona during the winter, so we are always seeking the most ventilation possible.

I cannot give you a comparison with the S2 or C3 because I have never used either one.

Albert S: The ventilation system on the top vent is very good. I can't compare it to other Schubeths, since I have not tried them. But compared to my old Bell full face,it is a big difference. You do feel the air through your hair as you ride. They do however run a bit on the small side. I usually wear a large and that is what I bought. In retrospect, I should have gone with an XL.

Best of luck.

A S asked: What would you recommend for daily commuting (and short trips on weekends): SR1 or C3Pro? C3Pro has a more convenient modular form-factor, sunshield and allows to integrate some bluetooth headsets while SR1 is lighter and safer (4 points in Sharp Test against 3 for C3Pro). Any other considerations? Apr 27, 2014

Peter J: Sorry to take so long getting back to you on this, but I hadn't had a chance to use the helmet because of our late spring here in MN. After putting some miles on this helmet I give it 5 stars. It fits me well, it's light and the optics on the shield are great. I bought the 80% shield as well and use it most of the time.

The C3 Pro is a great helmet and I'll buy one of those for my girlfriend.

It works of for trips of all lengths as long as you don't use the chin piece for noise reduction. The helmet with that piece installed becomes a bit aggravating to get off. The helmet is pricey, but worth the bucks. After all it's only your head!

Jorge G: I own the SR1 and nothing but great reviews overall great helmet. I use it for short trips on my ducati sportclassic and it's a very quiet helmet and great ventilation as well. It's going to be more of a snug fit than C3 pro it just depends if you are looking for a flip up helmet or more of race inspired helmet. Apr 29, 2014

Stephan A H: Try them on. The only Schuberth that fit my head was the SR1. Personally I don't trust flip ups but I would love the convenience they offer and the bells and the blue tooth option. Apr 29, 2014

Miljan B: I know Schuberth it self does have that color scheme but as far as revzilla having it I am not sure. I personally think the best design of this helmet is in the Technology matt black or glossy white, but email revzilla directly to see if they can get their hands on that color scheme. Dec 3, 2013

Waleed N: Aside for the colors here, Schuberth has for the US model of the helmet the Technology Color Scheme at an additional cost, Revzilla also has this helmet available. Unfortunately Schuberth has yet to release any further SR1 colors yet, however more may become available in the future. Dec 3, 2013

A shopper asked: I believe you get the clear shield with a pinlock. In europe they also included a light smoke face shield for a limited run when they first came out.Is a smoke face shield also included here in the states? Sep 22, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Schuberth SR1 comes with a clear Pinlock ready faceshield, as well as a clear Pinlock insert. The Pinlock insert is included in the box but not installed on the faceshield.

The only other parts included in the box which are not installed are the breath deflector and the chin spoiler neck curtain.

A shopper asked: Is there room to install the SMH10 on the SR1? Sep 8, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (1)
RevZilla: The SR1 is not a helmet that would easily accept the SMH10, or any other Bluetooth for that matter. There are no cut outs in the ears to hold the speakers, and the space between the helmet shell and the EPS is very tight and does not leave much space for any kind of clamp to slide in. With the SMH10, you could still use the adhesive mount for the side of the helmet, but the speakers would likely be touching your ears since there is no recess for them. The other issues with this is that the Noise Reduction System is located behind the ear area, and if you placed a speaker here it would likely cause the N.R.S. to be less effective. The SR1 is a helmet purpose built for racing, and thus it was not designed with Bluetooth systems in mind. Sep 11, 2012
