Olympia X-Moto Pants

Designed to coordinate with Olympia's X-Moto and GT jackets, this style can be worn as a stand alone riding pant or as full over pant. It’s “Mega Vent Panel System” allows it to transition from solid body, to adjustable airflow construction in seconds, while front thigh vent panels lay flat when placed into self storage pockets. An authentic Cordura® shell with 2000 denier Cordura® reinforcement insures maximum abrasion resistance. Two front zipper pockets and two rear snap pockets offer extra storage for personal items. Foul weather rides are never a problem as these pants are also equipped with a waterproof / breathable liner that can be worn as  wearable stand alone pants. Adjustable knee armor positions, stretch waist panels and EZ hem bottoms help riders achieve a customized fit.

Comfortable and versatile, knee/shin armor placement just doesn't feel right though I bought this along with the matching XMoto jacket and have used both in conjunction with each other for about 9 months now. The pants get used as overpants typically for commuting and have been great so far. Not too hot for most days and if the temps warrant it, you just unzip the panels on the thighs and let the air flow through. A great feature to have when you're in a climate where the temps fluctuate quite a bit. The pants came very long as described in other reviews so definitely helps to have someone who can sew (and a machine that can handle it) before you can wear this, unless you're very, very tall. I liked the fact that I could have them hemmed and set at a custom length for me but also that it could be reversed should I decide to sell these to someone who towers over me. My only grip is the knee/shin-armor pockets. It always feels as if the knee armor is shifted towards the inside of my legs and I have to adjust them outwards in order to be centered on my knees and legs. It's a bit concerning for sure but once I've adjusted it on the bike they feel like they don't shift much beyond that, but it's always something I'll have to do once I'm on the bike in a riding position. Fit well, comfortable, best pants I have owned to date after 35 years of riding Been using these for a few months now and I am very happy. The fit for me is close to perfect, but if I wanted to wear jeans underneath with the waterproof liner, I would need the next size up. I sometimes have to wear a knee brace which is quite bulky and that is a challenge and I find my movement is restricted, BUT, that is not the fault of these pants. They fit over Alpinstar Tech 3's comfortably. They are long in the leg. I have longish legs and can get by without needing to have them shortened, but if you have short or maybe close to average legs, you may want to take a couple of inches off. Good news is that these pants are designed with that in mind. The waterproof liner works very well. I have the same jacket and that works really well too, not got wet yet despite hitting some heavy rain a few times, one time for a few hours. If it is a chilly day, I either use the liner and/or some light pants/thermals underneath or some windproof pants over the top until it warms up as these are really a spring/summer/autumn pant, not a winter. Ventilation is great when it's hot. Quality good so far, no complaints July 7, 2014
Questionable armor pockets and have a tailor ready I bought these pants to match my X-Moto jacket. They look great and the material and craftsmanship is solid. The main issue with these pants is that I have very little confidence in the knee armor providing any protection. The pockets holding the knee armor in place shift around far too much. I will likely purchase a separate set of knee guards to wear under them. Annoying and really I would expect more out of mid-range gear like this. Another minor complaint is the pant length requires a tailor. Fortunately they accordion enough once my boots are on that I can wear them until I have them tailored. The waist is sized true, or maybe slightly small. They are snug on me. NO size adjustment is included or available, so buy the size you need and don't eat too many cheeseburgers! June 25, 2014
Great compliment for the jacket I have worn this at 40 degrees and 90 degrees with no comfort issues. The armor is very flexiable. May 19, 2014
Good pants I bought these knowing that I would need to shorten them as I have a very short inseam .I made the mistake of having them cut to where they were comfortably long while standing in my boots. Trouble is that when on the bike they ride very high and can be drafty. Not the fault of the pants. I recently did a 1200 mile trip in them and was very pleased at their performance in hot weather as I visited Death Valley .With the vents fully open they were quite comfortable in 100 degree temps. I use them as a stand alone pant but in weather below 55 degrees they do need something underneath or maybe if I had not cut them so short???? April 29, 2014
a great product designed for tall skinny guys..so if you are heavy check by phone..but wonderful features.and obviously very well made and thought out..this coming from a guy in the northwest (cool temp) mountains/rain etc..soon to be 71..gives me a sense of comfort, knowing that skidding across pavement or riding in the wet or cold, presents no problems..put on almost 1000 miles during January/Feb and March..including sub zero riding. 2 wheels down! Nice match to the jacket Most important thing to know is that these pants will need to be hemmed (the sizing chart says so) unless you are rather tall. I was about tho have the hemming done at a local tailor for $35 which included both the liner and the outer pant, as well as relocating the velcro tabs. YMMV on the hemming costs. As with the jacket, rode in 19F and my legs stayed warm. No experience yet in the rain or hot weather. April 15, 2014
Knee pads are useless. I've had the pants about 6 months now and put about 4,000 miles on them. I really love the pants fit and comfort and they work great in the rain. However, the knee pads are useless. When standing around they cover the knee nicely, but when you go and sit on your bike the knee pads shift inward and only cover the inside of your knee, leaving the front side and outside that your going to fall on unprotected. I had to unstich the knee pad pockets and move them over so they cover correctly. As for sizing I use them as over pants when I commute. I'm 5'10" 220lb and wear a 36x32 jean. I had to get a size 40 for them to fit comfortably over my pants. Also when you get them hemmed ($65) make sure your tailor/dry cleaner measures you sitting on the bike or sitting in a similar fashion. This being my first pair of motorcycle pants I didn't know that so they measured with me standing up, now when I ride my pants are about 4" too short. Sucks a lot in the winter and rain but I'll live. April 8, 2014

Andrew S: Chose to complement my Oly Nomad jacket, with an eye to buying an X-Moto jacket for cooler temps & touring. These are very long..unless you have supermodel legs plan on hemming. They tout "adjustable fit" but it's a business decision not to mfg/inventory tall sizes IMO which leaves most people paying for alterations. Not a big deal I guess. Pants seem very sturdy & versatile. Venting works pretty well and would be great with a vent below the knee. I found the knee armor very hot above 85F. Aug 9, 2013
A shopper asked: Is it possible to replace the EVA foam in the hips with actual armor? If so, what fits in the pocket? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Feb 19, 2014

Frederick E W: Yes, the hip memory foam is replaceable, but I am not sure what fits. It is a large pad, about the size of a knee pad, so almost anything should be fine Feb 19, 2014

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Frederick E W: Yes, all Olympia gear uses the same connection zipper. However, be warned that these pants are not very warm. I have both these and the Ranger pants, and the Rangers are a much better compliment to the AST Jan 16, 2014

Frank G: Both come with a zipper but I haven 't used it. I really like this set up for long distance and cold weather. I just haven't felt the need to zip them together as the coat is long enough and the pants big enough to overlap enough. Jan 16, 2014

Paula R: Thanks for sharing that link. I have seen that suit, and it's close, but the combination of features that really attract me to the X-Moto pants is:

1) large mesh panels (think off road in 100+ degree weather). I also like the idea of the leather on the inside, but it's not a deal maker/breaker.
2) the mesh can be closed off from the outside (I'm probably, errr, unique, but I've never found using a liner works as well as simply closing the mesh from the outside, so for me, other mesh items simply won't work. I would likely have the mesh closed most of the time, (except for situation number 1, so I like the option of the better abrasion protection when having them closed, too.)
3) Full length leg zip - quick and easy commuting pant!

That being said, I do like the Rev'it gear, because it's smaller, and I do like the option of full-c zipper.
The Rev'it jacket looks nice - mesh that you can cover up from the outside! Yay!, (not to mention what seems like better abrasion protection overall). If I was in the market, I'd definitely be looking at that...

And, solely for purposes of discussion: I don't really understand the concept of having the waterproof liner on the inside of gear. In rain, you might be dry, but your jacket is heavy, cold, clammy and going to take a while to dry, depending. Plus who wants to stand in the rain, take off the jacket, insert the liner... blah blah? I'll take my outer rain suit any day.

Just putting my thoughts out there. Can't be heard if you don't speak! And yes, I'll admit I'm picky. Hard to part with good money on something that doesn't quite suit your needs.
Thanks for doing what you do - I think your videos are a great tool!

Jacket Size Guidelines
We suggest you use these size charts as a general guide. Variables in weight distribution and height may alter the appropriate size range indicated. As a general rule Olympia Jackets are designed in America, with an "American" body in mind. As such, you will find that Olympia tend to fit more generously than European brands (such as REV'IT!, Dainese, Alpinestars and Spidi). If you are in between sizes, we recommend to you to err on the smaller side.

Pant Sizing Guidelines
Olympia pants fit true to size. If you intend on using them as over pants, please go one size up.

Inseam Lengths
Olympia pants are cut with generous inseams to accommodate various riding positions. Olympia EZ hem bottoms (can be hemmed up to six inches) and adjustable knee armor help riders achieve a custom fit
