Great year round alternative Just bought the X-Moto jacket and pants for a planned ride through a couple of climate changes. I was tired of having to plan on compromising -- either layer and layer with my summer gear on or sweat like crazy with my winter gear on. I'm an ATGATT rider. When I saw the X-Moto outfit, I jumped on it. The folding pockets and panels are ingenious and work well. The pants are nice and long and the legs are generously cut for bigger boots/calves/etc. Plus, the long side zipper is great for gear on/gear off. For rides with climate changes, this is the stuff. For pure 80+ degree rides, use your summer pants but when you will be riding from 50 degrees to 85+ degrees, use these pants and you will be glad you did. May 6, 2013
Great buy I am a skinny 6" person and I thought I'll try the olympia gear before I try on the euro stuff. To my surprise, the 32 inch xmoto fits me almost perfectly. The pant is very comfortable, and reasonably water resistant without the liner. I haven't used the venting yet, but there is enough anecdotal evidence to suggest that they work in summers. Overall, great buy except for a minor nag. The leg armour needs more adjustability. It's in the right place, but positioned towards the outside. It should hold on during a crash, but it's annoying while doing long distances. March 11, 2013
Gives up too much for versatility Money no object, you are better suited to buy a pair of mesh pants and a pair of winter pants. The liner is very nice, as it is in all Olympia gear, but it isn't like you are going to get off and put it on under your pants if you get caught in the rain. Just get waterproof pants for the winter. The liner is also the thermal liner, so you will hate life if you need it in the summer time. The mesh panels are a neat idea, but the zippers are located right in the bend of your hips while seated or walking. So, you have the zipped fly, and two more zippers on each thigh for the vents that run right up to your waist. In a sitting position it is a bit much to have bunched up, and it makes walking a little awkward. Having said that: if you were to stand all day in these, and needed something winter/fall/spring-ish, these are awesome pants that fit true to size. December 24, 2012
High Quality, with Great Features. Great Product, a little pricey, but I think they will be worth the money. Happy I made the purchase. Revzilla is the best company to do business with, could not be better. Products are well described and lightning fast service. October 15, 2012
Best pants so far I would recommend these riding pants to anyone who needs a great pair of pants for many different riding styles. I went on a 3 week trip and encountered rain for most of it. The pants kept me warm and dry. The waterproof lining only let a miniscule amount of water in after 4 hours of solid rain. The ventilation openings were more than adequate to keep you cool, but you have to be moving to for full effectiveness. When paired with the matching jacket they fit flawlessly. June 30, 2012
Plan on Tailoring Very well made comfortable pant. Bought to go with my Olympia mesh jacket. Sizing is spot on - bought one size larger to provide room to use as over-pant. If you do so, plan on wearing a belt, or better yet, suspenders (more comfortable on long trips). Pants are long in the leg unless you're a stick figure, so plan on having them hemmed. Since the leather on the inner thighs goes all the way to the bottom, your seamstress will need to use a leather needle and good commercial machine with nylon thread. Will cost a bit more than usual because you also have to shorten the liner and move the lower velcro tab up. The good news is that the zipper doesn't go all the way to the bottom so the whole job should cost you $30-50. June 25, 2012
well thought out Well thought out system. Easy on/off. Carry waterproof inners in a jacket pocket. If needed, whip off outer, put on liner, outer back on, voila - rainsuit in under 5 minutes. June 12, 2012
Been riding for over 40 years this is the best gear I've owned !!! Got my X-Moto jacket and pants in the Sand color today!! After adjusting my gear how I wanted, I set off on a nice 150 mile mid-afternoon (73 deg. and no rain ride on my '08 BMW K1200S, including city streets, freeways and 50 mph. plus not gonna say what the plus was...LOL) two laners in the country. I am an athletic 5' 11" and 181 lbs. I ordered a LG. jacket and 34" waist pants. They fit like a glove!! The jacket is just a tad tight with both liners in but very liveable for me. Any way I took both liners out of the jacket and liners from the pants and was very comfortable. The waist size in the pants is "true" so if you want these as an over pant you'll need to go a size or two larger depending on your preference. I didn't give it an excellent rating for "Protection and durability" category cuz I only had a sunny day to ride. I love the use of snaps and zippers all around. I would much rather have those features than velcro but I'm just knit pickin'. My only real complaint is that I would like for all pockets on the front of the jacket to be larger. They're supposed to be cargo pockets but really don't hold that much and the pants ventilate well however you get no ventilation in the seat/crotch area and that's where it's crucial. My other complaint would be that Olympia raised the price this year and made no improvements over last year which is why I didn't give it the top rating in the "Bang for the buck" category, but this gear is still a good value for the money. For a first ride I can only say good things about this gear. It's comfortable, ventilates well, it's built to last and fit and finish is excellent and it looks great!! I definitely recomend both the jacket and pants. Those who know me know I do my homework before spending and I don't like wasting money!! You absolutely cannot go wrong with this gear for the money spent!! Great value. The service I got from the folks at RevZilla was top rate. I had questions...they answered and made sure I was happy with my purchase!! The shipping was quick and the product was packed neatly. I'll definitely be a repeat customer!! May 30, 2012

Answer:
Thanks for sharing that link. I have seen that suit, and it's close, but the combination of features that really attract me to the X-Moto pants is:

1) large mesh panels (think off road in 100+ degree weather). I also like the idea of the leather on the inside, but it's not a deal maker/breaker.
2) the mesh can be closed off from the outside (I'm probably, errr, unique, but I've never found using a liner works as well as simply closing the mesh from the outside, so for me, other mesh items simply won't work. I would likely have the mesh closed most of the time, (except for situation number 1, so I like the option of the better abrasion protection when having them closed, too.)
3) Full length leg zip - quick and easy commuting pant!

That being said, I do like the Rev'it gear, because it's smaller, and I do like the option of full-c zipper.
The Rev'it jacket looks nice - mesh that you can cover up from the outside! Yay!, (not to mention what seems like better abrasion protection overall). If I was in the market, I'd definitely be looking at that...

And, solely for purposes of discussion: I don't really understand the concept of having the waterproof liner on the inside of gear. In rain, you might be dry, but your jacket is heavy, cold, clammy and going to take a while to dry, depending. Plus who wants to stand in the rain, take off the jacket, insert the liner... blah blah? I'll take my outer rain suit any day.

Just putting my thoughts out there. Can't be heard if you don't speak! And yes, I'll admit I'm picky. Hard to part with good money on something that doesn't quite suit your needs.
Thanks for doing what you do - I think your videos are a great tool!

Jacket Size Guidelines
We suggest you use these size charts as a general guide. Variables in weight distribution and height may alter the appropriate size range indicated. As a general rule Olympia Jackets are designed in America, with an "American" body in mind. As such, you will find that Olympia tend to fit more generously then European brands (such as REV'IT!, Dainese, Alpinestars and Spidi). If you are in between sizes, we recommend to you to err on the smaller side.

Pant Sizing Guidelines
Olympia pants fit true to size. If you intend on using them as over pants, please go one size up.

Inseam Lengths
Olympia pants are cut with generous inseams to accommodate various riding positions. Olympia EZ hem bottoms (can be hemmed up to six inches) and adjustable knee armor help riders achieve a custom fit

Olympia pants tend to run true to your jean size. Olympia Pants and 1 Piece Suits do not come in "Short" sizes, however the knee armor is adjustable and the bottoms are made to be easy to hem.
