Olympia MotoQuest Pants 4.3 5 39 39
Good but with room for improvement Fit was good. Lots of room to hem the bottoms if you need to. My only criticism is I wish the rain liners came up higher on my waist. I realize the liners were designed to wear either inside or out but guess most riders will wear them on the outside so you have dry gear to wear when the rain stops. I have the Olympia Expedition jack (bomber style) so there is not enough overlap on the rain gear if you wear it on the outside IMo (should come up above the belly button at a minimum). Fold down flaps are so so - I find they bunch up when tucked inside but nice to have the extra venting. The leather insides are nice and one of the reasons I chose these pants over others (ride standing up alot). A pouch (to throw in you saddle bags) to store the rain pants and jacket would be nice touch. I would also like a bit more adjustment on the waistline (sliding velcro strap) - the two clip options on the snap are not enough when you look at all the various scenarios you can wear these pants (with, without jeans, rain pants in or out etc) - can probably increase/decrease the waist size by 3" or 4" easy -a velcro strap is needed to provide this kind of adjustability combined with a bit of an elasticized waist band. A solid protective pant overall. I am a large guy, 6' 3" and almost 300lbs, I got the size 44, and they fit fine. They are long, but with the velcro fastener at the ankle, they can easily be hemmed for a perfect length without messing with changing the zipper. The cordera fabric is thick, and appears that it would hold up well in a slide. The rain pants are a nice bonus. I bought the matching Olympia rain jacket, and the pair makes a nice rainsuit which lives in my saddlebag at all times. There are a few caveats to my recommendation though. First is the hip padding, it's basically just foam, and not very thick nor sturdy. I ripped one almost in half the first time I pulled them out to wash the pants. I bought the Forcefield 4-Layer Replacement Hip Armor from Revzilla, they fit right into the pockets, and provide much better protection. Next, the knee armor is height adjustable with velcro tabes inside the pocket, so I get the right height, however, being overpants, the legs are slightly baggy, and the knee armor seems to slip around to the side instead of being right over the kneecap. I find myself reaching down to move it over sometimes. The last point is with the air vent, it zips open, and the flap tucks down inside. This works ok, but when you are sitting on the bike, it doesn't provide a lot of airflow, so these pants can get quite warm in high temps. I wish that there was another smaller vent in the shin area. Overall, a tough, protective pant, and worth buying, just go ahead and get the replacement hip armor. August 6, 2016
good fit and finish...all as expected I have had many riding jackets over many years, the features ,fit and quality of this jacket are excellent. Time will tell as to the longevity of jacket. It is a very well thought out jacket. Use of materials, velcro, zippers etc all appropriate for securing the fit. Pockets are a bit lacking ..but its minor. I have now ridden in pouring rain ,near freezing cold, and up to 100 degrees all very comfortable in this jacket. Friends recommended the Olympia product to me . June 14, 2016
Excellent overpants! I ordered these a size large and they're great overpants. I wear them without the rain liner and they easily go over work pants and jeans when needed (pulled over boots) with their full length zippers. The armor seem alright (I have other pants that are better) but for ease of use the armor they come with is adequate. The rain liner easily pulls over my boots in the side of the road and handles a heavy rain. The pants themselves do well in a light rain and in cold and cool temps. I haven't had them out above 70 degrees yet, but I'm guessing with the vents he'll be okay up into the high 80s March 2, 2016
Best value in riding pants, period These do it all, and very well: thighs have full-length zippered ventilation panels, easy to get on an off, and the included rain pant is brilliantly designed: easy on and off, velcro just where it's needed, and do it all with gloves on at the roadside. I have many times, and it keeps you dry. I bought the rain-proof upper separately, but right there you have a $100 item included. Highly recommended! November 30, 2015
Bought pants for winter riding, preform above expectations. You need to take boots off before putting on or off. Initially I wanted pants with a thermal layer. I was pleasantly surprised that it was not needed while riding in 38-45˚. My legs were the warmest part of my body during that 2 hour ride. Product must be hemmed for shorter riders. Overall a good pant, Knee protection could be better. I would say overall I am satisfied with these pants. My only complaint is the knee protection. I crashed at about 55mph and the knee pad shifted because it is just a loose fitting piece of armor. The front/side of my knee took a pretty substantial impact. The pad took the initial hit which saved my kneecap, but immediately after it shifted to the side leaving my knee unprotected. Luckily I will make a full recovery, just wish the padding had provided more protection. After the crash I noticed a tiny tear in the pants, where they first made contact with the road, other than that you can't tell they were in a crash. The other padding in the pants performed very well. Overall good pair of pants, however for the price I wish they were just a little bit better. October 15, 2015
Full length zipper is a lie The full length zipper is only on the main layer. This makes wearing them as overpants no better than just buying oversized pants, unless you take the liner out. It also has velcro at the very bottom, which will likely get caught on your socks. (Not sure whether the velcro is common in overpants, as I haven't purchased a pair in the past) The liner has no zippers at all. Not even at the top of the crotch. So if you need to go to the bathroom, you have to take your pants off completely. Really, this defeats the entire point of buying overpants. I don't have any idea how they could have overlooked this in the design. As a final design note, I wasn't impressed with the armor. The design was kind of cool, since it was flexible, but it didn't feel like it would last long in a skid. October 5, 2015
