Nexx XR1R Carbon Helmet
I had this helmet for a year. Initially loved it, not so much now.
The good: the helmet is very light, with a huge field of vision. You can wear it for hours and not even feel it. With some other brands, removing even a good-fitting lid after a couple hours' ride gives a sense of relief and liberation. With Nexx, you simply don't notice the lid.
The plastic clip-ons for visor quick-release mechanism are flimsy and will eventually wear out: there's a tiny internal detent that needs to be pushed in to change a visor; if not pushed it, it simply rotates with the shield allowing you to open / close it at will. Being made of cheap plastic, with repeated usage it will wear out and your windshield will pop off when you simply want to open it up. There is an inexpensive replacement kit available, but once that mechanism was replaced, my helmet became terribly noisy, without apparent cause. We inspected and reinstalled the kit several times; it is a pretty foolproof operation and everything fits perfectly, yet the helmet noise and whistle are terrible. We went to great lengths trying to eliminate it, but to no avail.
It is a fairly expensive lid, and requires Pinlock lens for optimal operation, and now, a set of earplugs. I still like it, but I think there are better values out there now.

Expensive, but in my opinion worth it!
So my Dad always says "Cheap head, Cheap helmet" and I definitely agree.
This thing is INSANELY light. Which for me, was the main reason for getting it. I have neck problems and having even the next lightest helmet is too much. I was worried about noise level and protection but the noise level is really pretty amazing for such a light helmet. Super happy with that part.
The airflow is WONDERFUL.
The visibility is awesome. I can literally see all the way to the left and right of me without having to turn my head too much.
Aerodynamics are stellar. No real drag or having to push my neck forward. Also when checking lanes it doesn't drag or pull.
Overall incredibly impressed and I well should be for spending this much money!!! I've had several comments on "wow, cool helmet" already when getting coffee etc. The styling is pretty rad and mean looking!

Light, expensive, comfortable, and loud
Punchline: Once the helmet was broken in, I stopped feeling it on my head. For my head shape, the helmet is simply that comfortable.
The XR1-R C is amazingly comfortable, with great padding and a very wide viewport. It can use more ventilation in the summer, but once the temperature drops below 80 it is cool enough without any tendency to build up funk due to perspiration. I used it down to single digits and it was warm enough for a half hour highway commute. The chin curtain and neck roll are somehow perfect at both temperature extremes.
I got the helmet with the early version of the quick release visor and the visor quick released itself once too often. NEXX was great to deal with, replacing the visor and the locks, with the new lock resulting in a quieter visor, but no obvious detent for the "barely cracked" position. The new lock works perfectly with no tendency to work itself loose.
The visor fogs with much too little provocation (think gnat flatulence on a windy day) , with the pinlock visor mostly fixing the problem at the expense of extremely poor night visibility and a reduced field of view :( Without the pinlock, the visor is nigh invisible - for the five seconds it takes for the condensation to appear.
The aerodynamics are great, with no tendency to shift at speed, no matter how the helmet is turned.
The finish (I have black) is easily marked, and the second x (from the nexx logo on the back) is peeling off. I cannot bring myself to care.
Bottom line: absolutely no regrets!

Awesome First Helmet
Amazing design, very light and comfortable. Love the design on NEXX helmets, it's worth the money, get it and you won't regret it.

Light, comfortable- great field of view.
Would be perfect if a little more airflow and more shield choices-

My wife has neck problems and after a few hours ride her neck hurts and has to be rested. Since buying this helmet she hasn't complained about her neck hurting at all. One day we rode over 400 miles and at the end of the ride she said that she was doing fine. Even though I don't have any neck problems I will be buying one also, worth the extra money.

I bought a medium based on the sizing. It was a little snug at first but has worn in perfectly. This is my first helmet as I am a new commute rider. I ride a sport classic triumph. I love how light the helmet is. Old time riders are blown away when I show them the helmet. People have said its the coolest helmet they have seen. I got the black with silver accent. The vision too is as advertised. Extremely wide view. I also bought the medium visor. So easy now to snap off the clear and snap on the light smoke visor. I use it day and night. Great purchase. Extremely happy with it.

Take your money elsewhere
So. We will also keep this short. I've had THREE of these helmets, all junk. The tabs of the visor mount constantly fall off while riding creating a serious hazard. Numerous visors have flown off and broken. Company has replaced some, told me to buzz of others. They came up with a fix it kit that too is garbage. The new fix it kit once installed causes a seal failure and makes this helmet even louder. I mean obnoxiously loud. It has a crazy whistle now. My entire review of this helmet is elsewhere as I don't have an hour to sit and write it. Please, Revzilla sells great Arai's and Shoei's. Buy them, or anything else. Three helmets later I now have a loud junk helmet. I'd like Nexx to refund me but they refuse. It took numerous emails to even get a response from their customer service.
