Excellent Jacket! I'm 5' 11'', 42'' chest, 32'' waist, and I bought a size 42. Fit is great throughout and there's plenty of room for chest armor and upgraded back armor. I live in central Wisconsin and I'm usually very comfortable wearing this without the liner during summer and early fall. Haven't had a fall yet so I can't say how protective this will be but it sure seems to mean well in this department. July 13, 2014
great value for the price Needed a medium weight jacket for So. Cal. weather. Comfort range so far is 45-85 degrees. Liner out above 70 degrees and air-flow was good. Jacket is comfortable and the elbow and shoulder pads are not obtrusive. All around good deal for the bucks. June 10, 2014
Love this Jacket I gave this jacket 5 stars across the board. I really tried not to but this jacket does what it's supposed to do really well and I'm very happy with it after wearing it every day for almost two months. Bang for the buck, there's no other jacket on the market that is a leather/textile hybrid that provides this kind of protection at this price point. As far as style goes, I think it's a great looking jacket. The branding is subtle and the leather/textile placement gives it a stylish look so it more than just functional. There is a version of this jacket that has the speed hump on the back, which I'm not a fan of so I'm glad the "Radar Dark" comes sans hump. This is a moto jacket so the comfort level is very good when used as intended. The jacket fits the body in a natural riding position. I bought a size smaller than my normal jacket size as I wanted a tighter fit and I don't regret it at all. For protection, the leather is placed everywhere you need it and nowhere it's not needed, making acceptable concessions for textile placement for a cooler ride. There is CE rated elbow protection with straps on the outside of the jack that hold them in place. The back protector is just foam so I upgraded to a Klim D3O Viper T5 Pro Back Protector that is level 2 CE rated. With this jacket, I feel I am protected as I need to be and don't really think safety is compromised in any way. There are mesh jackets that move more air, but I'm relatively happy with the amount of airflow allowed in this jacket design. I live in Los Angeles so I'm always riding in warm weather. In stop and go traffic and at red lights it gets a little warm (obviously) but when I'm moving, even at just 35mph, there is enough airflow through the jacket to keep it comfortable. Great value hybrid jacket I had an aging textile Joe Rocket jacket that I had inherited when I purchased my first street bike back in 2006 (which at that time the Joe Rocket was used and beat up) so I decided to look for an upgrade. Since I was looking at buying a new jacket, I expanded my search to leather jackets. For me, I am used to the fit and finish of the Joe Rocket jackets. I have not yet gone down, so I can not speak for the durability and protection in the event of an accident (but I hope it is good & that I never have to test it). I was looking at new textile jackets and decided to check out if there were any leather jackets in my price range. Since it can get hot in the Northern VA, DC, MD area, I decided to look at perforated leather jackets and hybrid leather jackets. It came down between the Joe Rocket Sonic Perforated and the Joe Rocket Radar Dark. I went with the Radar Dark because it has the airflow panels and belt loop straps that I could use on a longer ride. So far it has been great. It fits well, has a great extent of adjustability, and feels very solid. I'll have to see how well it does when it i sa little cooler outsid (using the liner). I would highly recommend since it is an affordable option. July 29, 2013
Good jacket Nicely made jacket keeps you cool even on hot days fit is nice rode in 80 degree weather with no problem, it has good protection so far no complaints would recommend to anyone June 2, 2013
Great Hybrid! I live in Louisiana so even our winters are warm sometimes. I was looking for a jacket to offer protection, comfort and air flow. I really like this jacket. My other leather jackets are very stiff and not as comfortable as a textile or mesh product. This jacket makes me feel very safe with the leather over most of the jacket, but the addition of the mesh on the front of the arms and shoulders really makes this jacket much more flexible and comfortable in my opinion compared to a solid leather jacket. The fit and finish is great as with almost all of Joe Rocket's products. Definitely happy with my choice. November 12, 2012
A great jacket for a great price This jacket was a lot better than I thought it would be considering the price. It worked well on the freeway (70mph) keeping me warm and feeling protected and kept me cool as well on the freeway. The jacket itself is one of the heavier jackets I have looked at giving me a little more peace of mind and this jacket also is loaded with features. So all in all I would definitively recommend this jacket. October 8, 2012
My new favorite jacket I bought this jacket and have been using it for ~2 weeks, and I have to say I love it. I've ridden in 38 degree nights on my bike with no wind screen and have ridden it up to 75 degree sunny days (still hasn't gotten too warm yet) with the full liner in and have been thrilled with how well it works. I was cold at 38 degrees, but it did a more than adequate job of keeping me warm enough to be safe but I have a fairly high tolerance for cold. At 75 it still did great and was more than cool enough. I would assume that once the liner is out, it will handle hot weather just as well as it does cold. The fit is great,I measured my chest to be ~39 with a deep breath and ordered a 42, which fits great and has room for a hoodie under it (though it does get fairly snug with something that thick). I'm ~5'10" ~170 lbs and the length and arms are spot on. The only negatives would be that the outside pockets are pretty tight and I have a hard time getting my hands in/out of them, so I don't use them. Also if the coat isn't sitting right, the neck piece can dig into my throat some. But with some adjusting the problem goes away. All in all, I would recommend this coat highly. Very sharp looking, feels very solid, and handles a wide range of temperatures well. April 9, 2012

A shopper asked: How is this jacket in 45-55 degF weather? Jun 6, 2014

Seth J: Yeah, you're not going to be comfortable much under 50 degrees, even with layering.

The only thing that might help is adding a windproof layer (re: wind breaker) with a hoodie, but that's likely a lot of bulk.

DENNIS D: The Joe Rocket Radar has the hump the Joe Rocket Radar Dark does not have the hump. May 16, 2014

Anthony S: There are two different models with and without the hump. I've had mine for a year (no hump) and used it extensively in mixed seasons. Not the best for rain and cold; great for summer riding.
The hump is designed more for track days and faster riding, where the air pressure behind your helmet at speeds of 120+ can become a drag. The hump connects the air stream over your helmet and around your back, making you more "slippery" when cutting through the air while crouched in a full tuck on the bike.
I got the no hump model because it is already a very overtly styled jacket anyway. Didn't want to look like a wannabe motogp guy in a restaurant having dinner with my girl.
