Awesome Helmet, Money well spent
I have read several reviews on this helmet that are less than honest, maybe trolls from other companies with intentions of driving buyers their way. I have ridden with this helmet for 6 months enduring almost any type weather imaginable. From searing hot to bone chilling cold and it has by far handled the weather amicably. I have ridden for over 30 years and have gone through several "lids" of all flavers and brands and the Variant Battle Scar has become my favorite. It was a little tight out of the box but it broke in nicely and is very comfortable. Air flow is exceptional and can easily be controlled by simply using the vent adjustors. I have used it in the cold with all controllable vents shut off and it was very warm, a mild amount of breath condensation at the very bottom of the lense but that is to be expected, but not in my field of view. The head buffeting is very over exagerated by many reviewers as it is a minimal. Tilting slightly down before looking back eliminates any head snatching caused by the visor. The visor itself doesn't really cause any excessive air noise as over exagerated by some reviewers. Some people would'nt be satisfied if the helmet was free. I find the helmet is over all more quiet than most others I have used even when not listening to music through my UClear bluetooth unit which reminds me, the huge speakers of the UClear fit perfectly in the helmet with enough space to adjust them to your liking. You really can't go wrong with this "lid" even though it's a little more costly than others. But keep in mind, what's your most important piece of equipment when you're headed face down towards the asphault? I would definately bet my life on this one! Last but not least, the lense screws, yeah, they can be a PITA and I did purchase the mirrored gold lense, (totally rocks this helmet), I have found the trick to not screwing up the threads is to not over tighten the screws, I have changed my lense back and forth between the gold and clear depending on what time of day I'm riding and have yet to have any issues. Quit thinking about it, quit beeing a CA and get this helmet, you won't regret it!

dissapointed
Although I have a VARIANT solid Rubatone the problems fit all the Variant models.
I fell in love with this helmet from the first time I've lay eyes on the image.
Being in Romania I've waited almost 3 weeks to arrive and the look was very impressive.
However the shield doesn't fit perfect on the gasket creating a draft on the left side.
I had to fill with sponge the spaces left between the straps and cheekpads to reduce noise.
And the cherry on top was that without any shock to the helmet some plastic rail elements that fix the Supervent cracked and fell off by themselves after 2400 Km made in the city.
So with a heavy heart I say pay attention to detail before buying.

Saved my life
This helmet saved my life. Wrecked when I hit gravel on an S curve in rural farm lands. Was knocked unconscious and slammed the living heck out of my head. Had I been wearing an inferior helmet I would have died that day. Already ordered another one to replace it as I loved the look but more importantly I loved that it more than did its job. When you look at the way it absorbed the impact its quite incredible, I regret not taking a picture to share.

On impact it spread the damage across the entire helmet instead of cracking it open where my head hit the pavement,

The visor is nice in summertime, along with excellent airflow.

These helmets also offer quite a bit of cusomization as you can change the guts, shield, and add a breathguard and/or chin guard.

Never fogged on me the entire time I had it, my only gripe is the sticker on the under side of the visor started peeling off almost immediately.

All in all a great helmet, my only thing is this is a very oval shaped helmet, so if you are a rounder head person you may need to go up a size but since Revzilla offers free returns for sizing I would not stress it too much.

Great helmet!
I purchased the Battlescar helmet while on closeout, and I'm very happy I did. The day I got it, I took it right out and did a 150 mile ride through the mountains to really see what I got into.

Pros: Awesome design! I was getting compliments from someone every time I stopped for gas about the helmet. It's really a unique look! It's also light and very comfortable. I rode for about 6 straight hours with no problem. Other helmets I own will start to hurt after a couple hours, but this Icon was comfortable all day. Next, visibility is great! Much better than a standard street helmet, and finally the airflow is just fantastic, and probably the best thing about it! I rode on a very hot/humid day, and while cruising with all the vents/slots open, it honestly feels like sticking your face out a car window. There is so much airflow into, and out of the helmet that when moving I didn't sweat at all. You can easily control how much air you want into/out of the helmet as well because Icon made the vents big enough that you can operate them easily with gloves on.

Cons: The helmet is a little loud, but not more than my other full face HJC or Scorpions. The visor does cause lift when turning your head. I will hand it to Icon, when facing into the wind, there is almost no lift at all, and I can even look up without discomfort, but once you turn your head you can definitely feel the visor act like a sail as it pulls with the wind. I noticed that after doing over the shoulder checks for traffic, I'd have to slightly readjust the helmet by pulling it back down. It's not terrible, but definitely a bit of a nuisance. Finally the visor is not quick change, so you basically need to chose what you're going to wear for the day. For me, I generally ride day only, so the smoke visor is a permanent fixture for me, but for those who commute and need a clear lens for early mornings or evenings, making the switch requires a tool (Included in the box) and a few minutes of your time.

Overall I'd definitely recommend this helmet to a friend. It's light, comfortable, great airflow and looks great. I ride a motard so I think this helmet is a perfect accessory for it!

Love this helmet!
First, I love this helmet! It is awesome looking, pretty quiet compared to other helmets I have had in the past, and very comfortable on long trips, even with earbuds in. The fit was fine, I read some reviews where they had issues with the seal, but mine sealed up just like the original face shield, maybe I got lucky. I bought the Charcoal Battlescar which came with the dark smoke face shield and a clear shield. The dark smoke is optically clear and I get very little reflection on the inside when looking out. I screwed up and must have used something abrasive and scratched the inside pretty bad when cleaning it. I ordered the silver face shield because I thought it would look cool, which it does, but it is as though the mirror is on the inside and you are staring at your face when looking through. The optical clarity is not as good as the original dark smoke either, but it is not that noticeable unless you look for it. I rode at all times of day and positions of the sun, but only found clarity and little reflection when the sun was at my back. I can't recommend the silver face shield, maybe it's better with the gold, but the dark smoke is not only clearer, it's also quite a bit darker for sunny days.

Real head turner.
First I'll start with the bad. This helmet has an odd shape to the fit. I manage to get my head in no problem, but almost tore my ears off trying to remove it. It was incredible painful. After a couple months of use and getting the helmet broken in this is no longer an issue. The stitching on the chin curtain began to unravel the first time I used it. I redid the stitching myself and that seems to have fixed that problem. The biggest issue I have had is with the shields. I have three and two of them do not fit like they should. They bulge out slightly on the bottom left near the thumb tab so they do not seal properly. Not an issue yet due to Louisiana summer heat. The extra air it provides is nice, but I will have to get another now that winter is here.

The helmet itself is incredible though. Always get compliments on it. It will pull some at high speeds, but lets face it you're not going to be turning your head enough for it to pull at triple digits and you're tucked in.

Great all around helmet
I bought this helmet as a nice helmet to wear for street riding and to use my old helmet for dirt. I am very pleased with it. One of the things I like most it the face shield! I bought the mirrored visor and it looks awesome, is soo clear, and has the best field of view I've ever seem on a full face helmet.

Great features and great look.
I am a beginning rider and this is my first helmet so take that into account when reading the review. I chose this helmet after trying on every helmet in town that I could. I wear glasses and besides a very expensive helmet, it was pretty much the only one I could get my glasses in. I could also get them on with the other Icon helmets I tried on. I am wearing a large, although the measurement chart said I should be in a medium, it was just too tight though. It has been comfortable so far with the riding I am doing and am very pleased with it. I did get it on a sale price so that was another deciding factor. I would recommend trying on if you wear glasses.

Amazing Air Flow
I live and ride in Las Vegas. I was looking for a full face for the protection but i needed the visibility of a half helmet so i could see whats going on around me. (in Vegas EVERYONE is actively trying to kill you) The field of view in this thing is awesome. On top of the visibility i needed something that kept me cool as my older Bell Arrow is quite warm in 100+ degree temps. The Icons visor does an amazing job of pushing air into the top vents and i can really feel the air keeping me cool as we've already had a few 90 deg days.

There is some buffeting in the higher winds of LV and turning to check your blind spots at highway speed is a little wobbly.

Lastly i have a rather large head and it was a really snug (I got the XL per measurements) but i pulled the cheek pads and just sat on them for an evening to help and after a few weeks the tightness is gone.

Pros: Airflow, airflow, airflow! Visibility. Style. Cost. Comes with smoked visor.
Cons: Buffeting at higher speed, fit takes a little bit to wear in. If its a little tight don't sweat it and return it. just sit on the cheek pads and give a couple wears.

Great helmet with a few flaws
I love the design of the helmet, for me the visor on the dual sport design helps when riding into the sun. The airflow is superb on this helmet, not overly noisy but I do wear ear plugs. Came with dark and clear shield plus a chin skirt. I went with the Icon due to it being more of a true street helmet as I am not going to be using goggles with it.
My only real complaint with this helmet is changing the shield. More than likely most people who purchase this helmet might not have to change the shield twice a day like I do during my commute. But Icon really came up short with not having a quick release system for this helmet. My Airframe I replaced this one with could be changed with my eyes shut or in the dark. This is the fist helmet that I have had that uses screws to retain the shield in over 8 years. But overall I like the helmet.

Love this helmet! Wear it daily for commute to work riding a Buell Lightning XB12SS. Some buffeting at speeds above 70mph but just till your head down a little and it clears up. It has good ventilation and airflow with minimal fogging at stoplights that clears out once moving again. Add a gold visor and you look like "Master Chief" my nephew says!

This helmet looks really interesting and has excellent reviews. I'm currently riding an ADV bike and this looks like something that matches its 85/15 tar/dirt future, and looks to bridge the gap nicely between purely road and purely off-road helmets I've already owned.

Good helmet,
very good looking, so much comfortable but a little bit tight. noisy as a result of the airflow/speed (otherwise I can't heard to my motorcycle's engine). As fast as you ride the same pressure you'll feel into your head... never try to turn your head if you're riding more than 100 kmph Awesome price even buying it with Mexican pesos....

I wanted a helmet that gives full face protection for flying gyrocopters that has a wide range of vision and has enough space inside to fit communications gear. The chin protection will save me from being hit in the chin or mouth by the occasional high-flying locust.

I intend to take the sun-visor off to reduce any tendency of the visor peak to catch the wind at speeds above 70mph.

The gnarly battlescar "Mad Max" look will create a lot of interest

This helmet is awesome! I bought the charcoal color and it changes color with different lighting. I added the Gold Mirror shield and even rode with it and night and the visibility was fine. The wind noise is minimal but the visor does catch in the wind with high speed but its not that bad. I wear a size 7 1/8 hat and ordered the helmet in medium. Its a bit tight but eventually it will break in but for now my ears feel like they are going to rip off every time I take the helmet off.

I want to get a third party Bluetooth but the guys at my motorcycle shop told me that the visor will collect a lot of wind and create a lot of wind/road noise and so I should go with something different. Is that true? How does the helmet do with wind and road noise in terms of bluetooth communications and etc.?
A shopper on Nov 17, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The main idea of this helmet was to bring a lot of air into the helmet. But each air vent has a close switch. As far as a Bluetooth goes. The padding inside does not separate from the shell like most so you have to make sure you can crunch the padding enough for the mounting bracket. I have a scala rider q2. It took some engineering by using longer bolts w nuts to crunch the padding so I could use the bolts that came w the unit. The combo is great and the headset has a noise filter. My wife hasn't complained when we talk on the phone so I think you'll be ok. Good luck. And ride safe.
does it have an inner shield?
A shopper on Nov 15, 2013
BEST ANSWER: If i understood your question so is it about 2 visor? An no it doesent i only has one. I live and drive in norway in europe and whne the sun gets really low in late summer and early autum u need an extra pair of sunglasses. (I have the golden visor) btw i love this helmet.
I currently measure at a 22in (rounded) at the circumference of my head (my forehead). It says 22in maxes out at a small, though once the helmet is broken in, would it be pretty snug?
I wore a sevenzeroseven (707) helmet, at a medium- which is about the same measurement at 22in for a medium, but the helmet is broken in for a good 4-5 months and the fit is starting to get ugly (it IS a cheaper helmet).
How are your sizing compared to other helmets like the shoei and arai? (I tried shoei and arai at my local MC store and they all seem to fit really good, but I'm just a bit skeptical on once it is broken in.

BEST ANSWER: In my opinion icon does not fit the same as shoei or arai. Otherwise I would have one of their adventure style helmets. The icon is snug at first but loosens some with wear. I have 2 variant helmets and the older still fits snug but the padding is obviously broken in. Hope this helps
I am wondering if anyone has worn glasses in this helmet? i have tried on some different helmets and I can't always get my glasses on, because there is no "room" for them to fit.

BEST ANSWER: Same here i take off my glasses put on the helmet and then put my glasses back on.. I can honestly say that wearing glasses in a variant is more comfortable than any other helmet that i've owned up to now.
Can you remove the visor from the helmet?
A shopper on Apr 16, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Yes, very easily removed and Icon provide a little "key" to do it with (Although a penny will do the job, or the side of the key!).
I'm looking into buying one of these and the size chart recommends to take a XL. I have one street bike HJC helmet and on dirtbike HJC helmet and they're both XXL. So I wonder if the size between the ICON and the HJC are the same?

BEST ANSWER: I had an old Arai helmet it was a Large. I stuck to Large even though I was really tempted to go XL. And I didn't regret it, the first couple of rides the helmet was more than snug, but did fit. After a week of daily drive, everything squished into place and the Large is perfect for me.

I don't know about HJC, never had one. But in your case I'd recommend going XL, try it out, (without riding) if it's really too small, you can exchange it, Revzilla is great for that...

my 2 cents.
I wear a Large Shoei Signet Q, will I likely be a large in this helmet as well?
Brett H on Jan 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: possibly. apparently i have a long face, i wear a med hjc and nexx. An xl variant is snug on my cheeks and just a little loose everywhere else (after break in), i should have bought the large. everybody else that puts the thing on think it's huge. hope this doesn't confuse you more, it is a real nice bucket.
How hard would it be to fit a Scala Rider to this helmet? Its like a clamp system. And, is there space for a microphone between the front guard and the mouth?
Looking forward to a reply!

BEST ANSWER: There shouldn't be any complications when mounting a G9 to the Icon Variant Battlescar Helmet. There is more than enough space to fit the clamp and microphone.

amI would like to order the matte black version of this helmet, and have the same face shield as the construct helmet

BEST ANSWER: The Icon Variant Battlescar Helmet is shown with the dark smoke Icon Variant Face Shield. You can order the helmet through this page or by calling CS @877.792.4955.
Can you wear goggles with this?
A shopper on Apr 28, 2012
BEST ANSWER: The Icon Variant is not compatible with goggles. The eye-port has tapered corners which are not wide enough to accommodate/fit them.
