Icon Variant Battlescar Helmet

Gazing down the barrel reveals a clarity of purpose. A single-minded mission devoid of right or wrong. The Variant Battlescar understands this unequivocally. The raw shell, tinted in variegated shades of dark earth and covert green, it is truly unique amongst its contemporaries. It is both unrefined and elegant. A natural beauty with a penchant for three-round bursts.

Amazing Air Flow I live and ride in Las Vegas. I was looking for a full face for the protection but i needed the visibility of a half helmet so i could see whats going on around me. (in Vegas EVERYONE is actively trying to kill you) The field of view in this thing is awesome. On top of the visibility i needed something that kept me cool as my older Bell Arrow is quite warm in 100+ degree temps. The Icons visor does an amazing job of pushing air into the top vents and i can really feel the air keeping me cool as we've already had a few 90 deg days. There is some buffeting in the higher winds of LV and turning to check your blind spots at highway speed is a little wobbly. Lastly i have a rather large head and it was a really snug (I got the XL per measurements) but i pulled the cheek pads and just sat on them for an evening to help and after a few weeks the tightness is gone. Pros: Airflow, airflow, airflow! Visibility. Style. Cost. Comes with smoked visor. Cons: Buffeting at higher speed, fit takes a little bit to wear in. If its a little tight don't sweat it and return it. just sit on the cheek pads and give a couple wears. April 14, 2014
Awesome. I have been eyeballin this helmet for over a year and I finally pulled the trigger. Although I have not ridden with it yet..darn you winter...I feel very secure in the fit. It has the look I wanted and the quality of the materials and the liner is the best I have ever tried on. I had to exchange since I am a borderline medium/large and I went with a large at first. I needed to exchange for the medium and the fit is superb. I never had to exchange an online purchased item before and I must say Revzilla made it painless. Couldnt be happier with the customer service and quick turn around. Overall this is a great helmet. One complaint is the visor change....could have been made a little more robust and easy to change, but no biggie. Note when changing the lens...The plastic detent that holds the lens into the housing is a little tough to get it inside the track. I had to open the detent a little bit so that it would go inside. this part is crucial to getting the lens to seal properly, so please take your time and make sure you aren't too rough cause you will bend that detent and ruin the lens ability to stay tight. I got the Gold on the black BattleScar and all I can say is awesome. Out-freakin-standard service from Revzilla. You guys will certainly be getting my business from here on out. March 4, 2014
Great helmet... definitely turns heads I love this helmet! Let me just get the negatives out of the way as there are very few, and all are minor... 1) this is not the most quiet helmet I have ridden in, but it isn't deafening by any means. 2) You will notice some buffeting at speed during shoulder checks, however individual results may vary (personally, with my tree trunk neck, it's little more than an annoying tug... but for those with smaller/weaker necks, it can be awkward at first) 3) While not the worst, changing out the face shield is not super quick.... Now on to what I love about this helmet... 1) It just looks freaking awesome.... there isn't a day of riding that goes by where I don't have people gawking as I roll by. 2) For its overall size, it is actually pretty lightweight 3) Seeing as I use this helmet while commuting, the peak really helps cut down on the early morning/ late afternoon glare from the sun. 4) It is super comfy and great ventilation, no hot spots on my head, no pinching, and plenty of airflow to keep your head from baking February 24, 2014
Love this helmet! First, I love this helmet! It is awesome looking, pretty quiet compared to other helmets I have had in the past, and very comfortable on long trips, even with earbuds in. The fit was fine, I read some reviews where they had issues with the seal, but mine sealed up just like the original face shield, maybe I got lucky. I bought the Charcoal Battlescar which came with the dark smoke face shield and a clear shield. The dark smoke is optically clear and I get very little reflection on the inside when looking out. I screwed up and must have used something abrasive and scratched the inside pretty bad when cleaning it. I ordered the silver face shield because I thought it would look cool, which it does, but it is as though the mirror is on the inside and you are staring at your face when looking through. The optical clarity is not as good as the original dark smoke either, but it is not that noticeable unless you look for it. I rode at all times of day and positions of the sun, but only found clarity and little reflection when the sun was at my back. I can't recommend the silver face shield, maybe it's better with the gold, but the dark smoke is not only clearer, it's also quite a bit darker for sunny days. February 17, 2014
Comfortable fit, lots of airflow and looks sick! I love this helmet! I've wanted it for a while. It's looks awesome especially with the mohawk. I got a gold shield on the black Battlescar. It's super sick looking! Really comfortable and not very heavy. Simple features..nothing spectacular like my previous helmet (Scorpion Exo-1000). Vision parameters are awesome..I can see a lot more around me. Airflow is absolutely awesome and without the chin guard, you get twice as much air. It's great for the hotter climates. When I first got this helmet it looked reddish brown. Then outside it was black and grey (like I expected). Under the lights in my bathroom it's purple. It is kind of a cool feature I wasn't expecting. The texture is really an awesome design. It's had a khaki padding interior too. Overall, I love this helmet and would recommend it to any rider. Great helmet This is a great helmet, I live in subtropical part of Australia and cruise at 90mph plus so I was looking for a helmet with good ventilation with the visor down, the icon puts a pleasant movement of air down across the face . The visor will catch at high speed but only if you lift or turn your head which is not recommended anyway at the ton and up with no fairing lol December 29, 2013
Great if specialized helmet I've ridden with the helmet for almost two weeks to date. Mostly I've been in town & one day, rode the bike to a novice day on the track about an hour away. I have absolutely no complaints for in-town riding. It looks cool, is comforatable, vents very well, and noice at in-town speeds is not an issue. On the interstate, it is very noisy (a common complaint I have I guess for being a round oval). What is worse, the scoop/visor definitely buffets, especially when driving around cagers. On the track & back roads, the buffeting is less (fewer vehicles). The profile is narrower than the signet q, but not a problem. I had minimal fogging while riding through fog & in a warm rain. I haven't used the hemlet in the cold (yet). October 22, 2013
would by again great helmet. it offers great looks and protection. it flows alot of air to keep you cool and when it gets cold they even provided a chin thing to seal up the helmet and it doesnt fog up only issue i had is one of the guide stubs on the visor broke from normal operation and is not covered under warrenty October 3, 2013

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Timothy L: The looks are awesome and when it comes to head protection you can't skimp. Apr 6, 2014
Y U: Looks very different from everything else in the market, reviews are mostly positive. First purchase at revizilla and I'm pretty confident it will turn up quickly. Heard only good things about the revi team customer service. Keep it up guys :) Mar 29, 2014
David P: This helmet is awesome! I bought the charcoal color and it changes color with different lighting. I added the Gold Mirror shield and even rode with it and night and the visibility was fine. The wind noise is minimal but the visor does catch in the wind with high speed but its not that bad. I wear a size 7 1/8 hat and ordered the helmet in medium. Its a bit tight but eventually it will break in but for now my ears feel like they are going to rip off every time I take the helmet off. Mar 21, 2014

A shopper asked: I want to get a third party Bluetooth but the guys at my motorcycle shop told me that the visor will collect a lot of wind and create a lot of wind/road noise and so I should go with something different. Is that true? How does the helmet do with wind and road noise in terms of bluetooth communications and etc.? Nov 17, 2013

Kyle C: The main idea of this helmet was to bring a lot of air into the helmet. But each air vent has a close switch. As far as a Bluetooth goes. The padding inside does not separate from the shell like most so you have to make sure you can crunch the padding enough for the mounting bracket. I have a scala rider q2. It took some engineering by using longer bolts w nuts to crunch the padding so I could use the bolts that came w the unit. The combo is great and the headset has a noise filter. My wife hasn't complained when we talk on the phone so I think you'll be ok. Good luck. And ride safe. Nov 17, 2013

Shane D: I have the Scala rider G9 which works really well even at 70mph+ speeds while on phone calls. Audio is also great for listening to music and the corded option is great for saving battery on a longer trip.

However you cant mount the unit on with the screw compression backing. You are left with the stick on option which given the shape of the helmet requires adding new adhesive strips even few months!

Great looking helmet! with the dark visor you will get lots of looks stopped at the traffic lights

Payam S: The Icon Variant Battlescar Helmet is a fairly quiet helmet. I would compare it to the noise level of a shoei Qwest. It is very comfortable and well built. The Visor surprisingly does not catch too much air. I ride a sport bike and I commute around 1 hour to work and back at highway speeds. My only issue with the helmet is that the face shield does not go far back enough so it obstructs my field of vision when riding with face shield up.
Overall great helmet, with great looks.

Alain J: I shoud say that the wind shield install on your bike will make the difference. I have the Givi Airflow (2 parts windshield) on my Tiger 800 XC and the wind is no more a problem at any speed. Nov 18, 2013

Steve J: I use a Sena with my variant everyday. Never had a problem. It's probably not the quietest helmet I've had, but definitely not the loudest. Nov 18, 2013

Peter A: If i understood your question so is it about 2 visor? An no it doesent i only has one. I live and drive in norway in europe and whne the sun gets really low in late summer and early autum u need an extra pair of sunglasses. (I have the golden visor) btw i love this helmet. Nov 16, 2013

Ulrich B: An inner shield? Not sure what you mean. It has a great shield, and you can use the clear or the the dark one. I have been using the dark one for about a year now, mostly off road, and other than sticky vent controls it's been a great helmet for me. Nov 15, 2013
Reply to Ulrich Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Jason R: It does not. The only sun protection you'll get is by replacing the whole shield with a tinted one. This takes a few minutes. Nov 15, 2013

Joshua R: I don't know what you mean by inner shield. It's just like a normal helmet. Nov 17, 2013

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Zamfield: Yes, very easily removed and Icon provide a little "key" to do it with (Although a penny will do the job, or the side of the key!). Mar 25, 2013

Rustbucket: It's not designed to be easily removable - the vent switches are built into it. May 14, 2012

A shopper asked: How hard would it be to fit a Scala Rider to this helmet? Its like a clamp system. And, is there space for a microphone between the front guard and the mouth?
Looking forward to a reply!

RevZilla: There shouldn't be any complications when mounting a G9 to the Icon Variant Battlescar Helmet. There is more than enough space to fit the clamp and microphone.

If you run into any trouble, give our Gear Geeks a call at 877.792.9455.

kylcldwll: If you have the Scala Rider 2, it mounts to any and all full helmets. Mine bolts right in, ofcourse i had to run the speakers and position the mic but it fits pretty well. Apr 29, 2013

Zamfield: I've just fitted the low profile SMH10R from Sena... great price and a great piece of kit.

A shopper asked: Can you wear goggles with this? Apr 28, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Icon Variant is not compatible with goggles. The eye-port has tapered corners which are not wide enough to accommodate/fit them. May 14, 2012

Rustbucket: Goggles won't fit with the visor on. I think they would if you took the visor off, but I've never tried. May 14, 2012

Zamfield: You could wear goggles, but you'd need to take the visor off. You can't use both. Mar 25, 2013
