... for first few days. It goes perfectly with my flat green HyperS, but at 55+, the visor catches so much air, my neck wasn't used to working that hard going down the highway. And checking lanes, BIG adjustment. I was afraid I'd made a costly mistake. Having given it a couple weeks, the wind doesn't seem to be as much of an issue anymore. Not sure if I've modified my head position or if my neck is just stronger because of it, but I no longer feel I've made a performance sacrifice for an aesthetic advantage. If you're on the edge of the sizing chart, definitely go with the smaller size. This helmet is so affected by the wind, that you don't want even more movement by a too-large fit. The look of the helmet is amazing. I'd certainly recommend it, but it takes a little getting used to.

Coming from a Arai XD dual-sport helmet to the, to me, unknown Icon Variant was taking a chance. But the interesting graphics and shield design (think fighter pilot style) made me give the Variant Battlescar an enthusiastic try. I love the looks of the Battlescar with it's dark shield. The fit is perfect around the top of the head (I chose a XXL) but tight on my fat cheeks. When pulling the helmet off, it feels like my ears will be torn off -- BUT, that could just be due to my head shape. The noise level is unbelievably low and I don't think I'll need earplugs in the future. Ventilation is refreshingly (pun) effective and I could certainly feel the air move into my face and onto the top of my head (something I never experienced with the old Arai). Fog-free shield works very well now and I hope it will in the future after repeated cleanings. The little insert provided to keep cold air from entering is yet another bonus I had not even expected. Nice touch. No Snell rating - if that means anything to anyone.

If you like the way this helmet looks, then buy one. All the features are well represented in the marketing. The visor is great for the sun, I've only had it up to about 135mph so far with no noticable lift. Negative aspects are that the shield should raise higher than it does (no big deal for me), Chin strap could be an inch longer. Great helmet so far!
