Icon Stryker Battlescar Vest
Icon Stryker Battlescar Vest is a closeout steal!
I really like Icon and Icon 1000 gear and accessories. One of my favorites along with Alpinestars and AGV. I have an Icon Alliance Dark helmet, & Icon Overlord Resistance textile jacket. I have a big noggin so wear an XL helmet but for the vest and jacket, they run large, but are kind of "slim fitting" if you get what I mean. I am short (5'5") but stocky/athleltic/muscular at 165-170 lbs. I can wear the small jacket over am undershirt, t-shirt, & light sweatshirt or sweater. On top of that, I wear the small Stryker Battlescar. The side straps have plenty of velcro space for adjusting. The Icon jacket has elbow, shoulder, and back armor built in and still the vest fits over it, so I am getting armor all around. The vest is well built and as an Army veteran I love the military styling and military style color. Given that I wear a black jacket and helmet on my black bike, this vest is very visible which helps aid in being seen by those lackadaisical drivers out there. You don't not feel encumbered or bulky in it either and it provides a high degree of protection. Would recommend especially at the closeout price. It is a steal!

Form over function
If you're looking for protective gear that's probably gonna last for more than 1 crash then think again. I had a nasty tumble while wearing the vest. It served its purpose because I landed on a rocky area on my back however two rivets holding the back plates came off. I was expecting the rivets to be made of metal or at least beefier plastic but it's actually rather flimsy. I would recommend this vest if only it was cheaper. I think it would be perfect if the price sat around the sub 100 dollar mark because the only CE certified protection is the back protector, the chest plate is not CE rated and only covers a small part of your chest. It looks awesome though. So, if you prefer style over substantial protection then by all means get this vest. I just think its way too pricey for what you get.

Not as much protection as I was expecting
Don't get me wrong, this is a good vest and I wear it almost every time I ride. The thing that I don't like is that only the back protector and the center of the chest are hard armor... the rest is all soft. I was hoping for some clavicle protection, but it's not good enough. I always wear this under my jacket, so I might add some shoulder and kidney protection to this vest. Also, the front of the vest seems much smaller than the back, only coming halfway down my belly... nowhere near my belt.

Breathes well and comfy.
The Hydra-Dry liner is very nice and doesn't make you sweaty and uncomfortable. This is basically to only protect your back and sternum on your chest when it is super hot out. It does fit well under a 1 piece suit though. I have very good confidence in that it will protect my spine. It has a nice foam that hardens under impact and all the plastic is very good quality. I am very happy with this product.
I am a 41 inch chest and 5'11, I got the small to medium. It is very comfy and it can actually go a bit larger so if you are on the fence like I am go for the small to medium. The back portion ends perfectly at the bottom of my back.
I think this is a great bang for the buck product because It can be used underneath a jacket or 1 piece suit for when you want to go into the canyons for extra back protection if you already don't have an insert, also it can be worn on it own.
