Icon Sanctuary Jacket

The Icon Sanctuary Jacket blurs the line when it comes to hot-weather performance. The lightweight mix of 1.2-1.4mm Brazilian cowhide leather, Dynax nylon and unit-fused mesh delivers outstanding protection while maintaining steady airflow to keep you nice and cool. When leather gets too hot and heavy for those 80+ degree days of rigorous riding, the Sanctuary will save your sweaty soul.

Features:

  • Multiple panels of unit-fused mesh, chest perforations, and unique cuff venting to keep you running cooler, longer
  • 1.2 - 1.4mm Brazilian leather used in all the primary impact zones
  • Dynax nylon utilized in secondary tumble zones to provide coverage without unnecessary bulk
  • Articulated flex zones in the shoulders and elbows
  • D3O impact protection in the shoulders, elbows, and back

Good, roomy jacket
6'5", 325 lbs, 46" waist, 37" sleeve, 53" chest (yep, big guy!)

Ordered a 4XL Hypersport, which had most of the features I was looking for (actually wanted the prime, but none available) and was supposed to fit. Not a chance. 4" gap on closing the front.

Revzilla suggested the Sanctuary, since it has a roomier cut and was available in a 5XL.

Highs:

Quality is very good. Really like the 3DO armor. Lot's of pockets, roomy, comfortable. Liner is effective, very warm at 50F on the first ride. I pulled the liner at about 70F and it hit about 85F that day, jacket was comfortable. Was expecting a bit more airflow without the liner, will be interesting to see how it does on 90+ days.

The 2 way zipper on the cuff is a nice touch that allows for noticable airflow. Given that most of the synthetic doesn't flow as much as mesh, it might be nice to have a few more zippered inlets on the body.

The neck is comfortable and interferes less with the helmet in the back than other jackets I own, but doesn't come up very high. At 50F, I was wondering a bit if I should have brought a neck piece for coverage.

Lows:

I *think* I could try a 4XL, it is a much bigger cut than the Hypersport. However, even then I think the arms would still be too large for me, which means the elbow armor moves more than I'd like for safety.

The cuff is very large diameter, to the point where it's bulky and awkward to stuff into the gauntlet of my glove.

I bought this because I wanted the protection of leather, which this has. I would like to see a bit more leather, and more open mesh for airflow, as well as a better cuff and snugger arms - which would be the Hypersport/Hypersport Prime. This was a good compromise though, and I believe its a good choice

Good First Impression
Just had this jacket shipped to me in the grey/red combo in the size small. I am 5'8" and have a slight build, about 135-140 lbs usually, 38-40" chest. I wanted a nice breathable leather jacket, good protection, and I wanted it to be pretty fitted, not a race jacket but nothing baggy so the armor stayed put and the jacked didn't flap in the wind. After a couple rides this jacket seems to meet all of my needs. The small is nice and snug with the liner or a light sweatshirt on under, and comfortable with just a t-shirt, doesn't flap around at freeway speeds. Nice heavy weight to the jacket and seems to soften up the more I wear it. Feels great in the full or 3/4 tuck. Also stays pretty cool without the liner. I rode in ~80 degree weather and wasn't overly hot, and also ~50 degree weather w/o the liner and stayed comfortably warm.

No regrets
I was between this and the Scorpion Clutch jacket for $200 more; I wanted to save some money so I went with the Sanctuary. I am 6'1" 200 lbs (with long arms) and the L fits like a dream. With the liner removed you get a ton of airflow in the armpits and back. Not an overly aggressive jacket; it is a relaxed fit and super comfortable.

This jacket is an overall greatly balanced product.
I absolutely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for an inexpensive jacket but still needs all the functionality, protection, and style that a more expensive jacket would have.

The jacket runs pretty true to size with a little extra so that you you are super comfortable even in the tuck position. I recommend it to all the big dudes out there who find it difficult to find a jacket their size. I am 6'2" about 260 pounds with that larger football athletic frame, 47"Inch chest, and fairly broad arms. I wear XL shirts and sweaters as long as they aren't those super tight fitting brands. Sure enough, the XL Sanctuary Jacket fits right on point and looks great. I own the Black and Green one like the video shows, which goes great with my Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R.

I love that this jacket feels thick, sturdy, with premium leather exactly where it needs to be. The D30 back shoulder and arm protectors are minimalistic in size but offer great protection for the daily commuter. I am a student at UCLA and often ride 2 hours from Los Angeles to my hometown in San Diego on the weekends and I can tell you that the air flow in the jacket is great! I've ridden in 95 degree weather without the liner and was extremely pleased with how cool I kept and with the amount of air flow to the chest, arms, and underarms. Once the temperature hits around 65 degrees its time to start thinking about putting that liner on and you will be pleased with how warm it keeps you, even with just a t-shirt under. Once the the temperature hits about 55 degrees you're going to need to wear something warmer underneath. This Jacket is absolutely perfect for that SoCal weather, you won't be disappointed.

As far as the other features go, it comes with good sized pockets both on the outside and inside. If you ride with earphones on and your cell phone, then this jacket is perfect for you as it has the earphone port coming out of the inside left portion that allows you to run them up into your helmet with ease. Even the zippers are cool as they sort of "lock" closer to your jacket and stay out of the way when your putting on your gloves and other gear. There are small details that Icon payed attention to and I am pleased with their efforts.

If this jacket is about your price range, GET IT. You won't be disappointed.

Really Awesome Jacket
Ordered this jacket due to the fact that it came with spinal reinforcement. Seemed silly to me to drop $300 on a jacket just to have to buy back armor, when I could pick up this jacket for $300 with it already there.

Showed up in just a couple of days, and when I took it out of the box I was surprised to see how great it really looked. Immediately started to play with the zippers to make sure that they were of decent quality. So far so good. Threw it on, and it fit absolutely perfectly based on the size chart included by RevZilla.

The zip out thermal lining was of very nice quality, and the zipper was easy to use. The wrist/lower arm zippers are a great touch for being able to really seal down my gloves. The only problem I could see is if you are short but have thick arms. I'm a pretty small guy and when the zipper is sealed to the wrist it is pretty tight.

Last but not least, the only real con I could find on the jacket was the way the shoulder and elbow inserts sit in the jacket. The shoulder one always seems to slip backwards a bit, and the elbow one will NOT stay put. They slide around an awful lot in their respective pockets. I haven't done a ton of playing around with it, and there may be a way to solidify their position and I'm just an idiot.

All in all, a really, really great jacket. I'm glad I purchased it, and I highly recommend that you do to.

Awesome look!
I'm 6'0 and 190lbs I purchased a Large

I bought the blacked out one. I love the look of it and the removable liner is a great plus for when it gets hot or cold. The jacket does fit a little big, its nice for the colder days so a sweatshirt fits easily under it. But if you want a snug fit I would go a size down. I also have the ICON Hypersport Prime Hero in a large and it fits snug and there is no way I could fit a sweatshirt under it. Crazy how these jackets can differ in the same size so much.

Phenomenal job
First time I put this on I knew I bought a great jacket. The removable liner makes this jacket a guaranteed 3 season jacket. In Washington state I can use it with liner in on a 45 degree day and just a T-shirt on. 75 degree day in the sun I am in T-shirt with liner removed and feel great.

not what i thought it was but good enough
the jacket is a good jacket durable good comfort . I wear a 2x but it was to small with the inner lining so i got a 3x with the lining fits perfect if your getting it for spring with lining out get your size. if your getting it for winter With lining get 1 size up The price is about right for this style of jacket with leather . the only problem i have is when i ride i feel cold air coming in the jacket from around the neck there is no strap or button around the collar so air comes right in the jacket specialy at high speeds . So i have to find away to stop this from happening . Because i bought the jacket to wear in the winter months when i ride . but over all i like the jacket . And i love the inner lining perfect for the winter months .

Big Boy Jacket
I'm 6'4-6'5 280lbs. I'm sometimes on the heavier side. I first thought about ordering the 5XL after trying on Deinse and Alipine stuff but the awesome guys at Revzilla told me I was smoking crack.

I briefly told them my dimensions which are about 6'5, 280lbs, 37 sleeve, 56/57 inch chest, not fat nor flabby or disproportionate I'm chubby but not athletic at all and they suggested to go with a 4XL but even then they suggested the 3XL.

I went ahead ordered the 4XL with expedited shipping trying to get it into for a long weekend ride but unfortunately it was too large! REVZILLA WENT AHEAD AND SENT ME A RETURN SHIPPMENT LABLE 100% at no charge to me!

I then received the my 3XL Brand new Icon Sanctuary Matte Black Jacket! GUYS, this is an awesome jacket! The elbow pad are perfect, length of sleeve is just right and exactly where you want it. Back pad is 100% in the right place and the leather looks GREAT! I thought at first the jacket was gong to be all show and no go but this jacket is perfect for the EVERYDAY rider or RYDER!

Leather feels awesome, pads are great the S.T. Joseph Charm is a great touch, phone pockets are grey zippers are excellent and easy to use, quilted inner lining is fantastically made and totally functional! The waist ratcheting adjuster are awesome!

With all these positives the only NEGATIVE I can say I do have is that after 2XL Icon only offers Matte Black in these jackets I would have loved to use this jacket in the matte black and green!

I use this jacket for street bike and sportster use.

Good budget jacket. Durable. Pockets are hard to reach.
I was looking for a reasonably priced leather jacket with impact protection. The Sanctuary is a good mix of function and style.
Sizing is just about right. I ordered the XL since I was on the borderline between sizes, and found I was swimming in it. Revzilla return was easy and the L is definitely the right size for me. 6'1" 215lbs.
Some of the stitching where the leather meets the textile chassis is a bit rough. The perforations do a great job of venting. Unfortunately, the transition from leather to textile is sometimes right through a line of perforation since the patterns are clearly cut from an entire sheet of perforated leather which does not take those lines into account.
Venting with the liner removed is excellent. Riding in the southern heat at the peak of summer is comfortable over a t-shirt even with the black model.
The D3O padding is located at the elbows, shoulders, and back. The slits in the liner to access and remove the padding can sometimes catch your hand as you put the jacket on, but once you get used to the locations it's easy to avoid. With the liner in this is not a problem.
The liner is good to keep you comfortable down into the low 50's, possibly into the high 40's. Below that it is necessary to wear some sort of additional base layer. This is partly because the venting through the chest is still present even with the liner in place.
Zippers are sturdy and easy to operate.
My biggest complaint about the jacket is the location of the pockets. The pre-curve of the arms is great for riding position, but makes it extremely awkward to reach the pockets when standing. If the pockets were tilted forward more it would be easier to reach the zipper, and easier to put your hand into the pocket. As it currently stands the pockets are placed too far to the rear to make access comfortable.
Overall, I have been happy with the jacket. In black the Icon branding is present, but relatively subtle. The durability seems good. I haven't had the misfortune of testing the impact and abrasion protection, but the padding is D3O quality, and the leather seems adequate to the job.

Tried on a black one at my local dealer. Fit me well, but I wasn't going for the black-on-black-on-black styling. Tried to have them order a green one, but I would have been waiting until July. I don't have that kind of time. Also, full-on leather doesn't breathe.

Does this jacket have any connections in the back for clipping or zipping onto pants? Many jackets have a strap that can clip onto a belt loop...wondering whether or not this jacket has this strip

BEST ANSWER: No, there isn't any zippers or straps to attach to pants.
are there any reflective things on the stealth jacket?
A shopper on Apr 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Nope, although I guess if you know any chicks you could always have them "bedazzle" it (lol). If you want something that'll make you more visible I'd stay away from anything with 'stealth' in the description. You also might want to get a really loud set of pipes for your ride. I feel that a loud exhaust is more effective than a bright jacket for making your presence known. Ride safe.
Does this jacket run big or true to size? I don't know which size to get because I have a chest size of 40 but have longer than normal arms. Also will the white version provide as much visibility as the hi viz?

BEST ANSWER: I also have a 40" chest (my arms measured 33-34") and the LG fits me perfectly. The sleeves hang a little past my wrists while standing but they sit right where they're supposed to when I'm in 3/4 or tuck. It's a little baggy around the shoulders but once the leather breaks in it should conform to them a little better. Can't speak to the visibility as I got the stealth black jacket (looks badass) but nothing will make sure you're seen as well as hi-viz yellow.
Any reflection feature ??

BEST ANSWER: Hello
I bought the Hi-Viz Yellow version. So the whole jacket is quite reflective. But there are no special reflective pieces on the jacket.

Hi, if I'm looking for a good winter jacket in a sport bike style would this be a good choice? Would the leather overlord be better? I live in NC so winters are mild and I have a mesh jacket so breath-ability for summer is not an issue. Thanks.

BEST ANSWER: I love my sanctuary jacket, but I don't think any perforated jacket would be my first choice in winter. With the lining in you don't really notice a breeze through the vents, but there is a noticeable amount of wind coming down around the collar.

This is a great 3 season jacket, but I'd go with something else as a dedicated winter jacket. With the lining in, I can wear mine down to about 40°F with a tee shirt and sweatshirt underneath.
Hello, I'm looking for a winter jacket and was wondering how this one would handle a NC winter 30-50 degrees? I ride a gsxr so I want to stay with a sport style jacket. I already have a mesh one so breath ability for summer is not an issue. Thanks for your help.

BEST ANSWER: I live in Hampton Roads area of Virginia and it holds up pretty well in the 30s-50s. it has the full quiled liner which is nice. I usually throw a light sweater underneath it just to play safe. I've also gone down with this jacket and it held up beautifully. Some scuffs but saved my arm and shoulder and it's still useable
I've got the icon striker back/chest protector. Is the coat designed to accommodate this, or should I buy a size larger?
Tim S on May 12, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi. This kacket is designed to accomodate the icon striker back/chest protector. I did not need to buy a size up.

Be aware that the new icon jacket sleeves seem extra bulky loose after 2012. My torso fit fine, but my shoulders and sleeves seem to be ao out of place, and I had a small! This jacket is too bulky for me to the point that if I go down, my elbows and my shoulders aee toast!

I woiluld not recommand this jacket, unless your body build looks like the bulky model in the revzilla video.
Is this a waterproof jacket??
A shopper on Feb 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No it has perforated leather
If it doesn't fit can I return it and get my moeny back?
A shopper on Jun 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It didn't work for me on the size part but they definitely take it back and return ur money and it's an awesome jacket I think I'll loose sum more weight and try it again later
