Icon Airmada Stack Hi Viz Helmet
Love the Style, Dissappointed By Defect
I got my orange Icon Airmada Stack in 2012. I had a hard time finding a helmet for a woman that didn't have flowers or pink and purple scrollwork all over it, until I stumbled on Icons many unisex graphics. The Airmada stack instantly stuck out to me, and I'm a big fan of orange. Plus, it was reasonably priced and had all the safety certifications I was looking for.
I need to start off by mentioning that I love this helmet. I truly do, and I'd be very sad to replace it. I've never seen anyone else wearing it and get a lot of compliments on the graphic. I would even recommend the Airmada to others (and have), however there are a few things I would warn people about when buying it, including a recent defect.
I've got my motorcycle certification, but I'm typically a passenger. If we make a lot of stops, it isn't long before sides of my face get red and a little raw from putting it on and taking it off. It's just the padding on the bottom that curves in around your jaw that you have to push through. Over the past two years I've broken it in, but it's still a tight squeeze. Once my head is in the helmet, though, it fits and feels great.
My other serious beef with this helmet is the metal pin you have to pull the visor down over to lock it in place. It can be VERY difficult to release to open the visor. It's borderline painful to do this without gloves on, unless you have really callused thumbs. If I know we'll be stopping at multiple intersections, I won't pull the visor all the way down so I don't have to keep struggling with it to open it. I can get it okay with my leather gloves on, but if I have thick winter gloves on, it's dang-near impossible to get enough grip on the little tab to to push it open.
For me the fit of the helmet is perfect when it's on, but there's a lot of road noise and frequent whistling depending on which way I turn my head. Since this is the only helmet I've ever had, I got used to it pretty quick and love the helmet too much to let it bother me, but more seasoned riders might find it irritating.
Now onto the recent defect you should be able to see in the pictures. The rubbery lining along the bottom that creates part of great styling of the helmet has come free from the helmet itself. It's like the glue just gave up, and I can't think of any reason why this would happen.
During my motorcycle safety course, I spent a few solid hours getting rained on wearing this helmet, but otherwise it's only been worn in dry conditions. It sat in a car for a few days at one time or another, but otherwise has been in an air-conditioned space when not being used. It can get pretty hot in TN in the summer, but I don't see how that would cause the glue to fail unless it was cheaply made.
Since I've had the helmet for two years I don't think there's anything I can do about it being defective. I'm way past my return date. I'll probably even consider getting another Airmada to replace it if I can't glue it back in place, but I'm concerned about that happening with any other Icon helmet. I'd love to hear if anyone else has had this problem with an Icon helmet in the comments section, or if I just have a lemon. I think they have the coolest graphics and styling for the price you pay, but I don't want to have to replace my helmets every two years unless it's for safety reason.

Im new to riding and bought this helmet to start wearing once I get a bike. I wanted it for the graphics to be honest the safety value seemed pretty high and overall its a good looking helmet. Air flow is nice at higher speeds would recommend cracking the visor up slightly to get more. Living in florida full face is always hot. I bought the glory edition and must say it was a great decision. While I love this helmet I would recommend someone new to riding to buy something like hjc for the weight. Icon airmadas are heavier as ive talked to other riders who agree with me. Once you wear it a few times the weight lessons and you become use to it. Overall id give it a 10 for looks and quality there isnt a stitch out of place.

Worst Icon Yet
I have been happy with the last two generations of Icon helmets and ASSumed that this would be an improvement over the last, well I was wrong.
Fit is extremely tight getting on and off and while you would think this would lessen noise, it doesn't.
Shield whistles, it's not a tight seal.
Ear pockets are so small that my very thin scala rider speakers touch my ears, which do not fit into the ear pockets and are normally scrunched.
And the biggest complaint, there is no thought, not even a consideration towards a glasses slot. You will destroy your glasses trying to get them behind your ears with this helmet.
I wouldn't even sell this secondhand to someone, it would be cruel.

After 2 weeks of use
I've been using this helmet every day for my 50 mile commute for two weeks. 50% of this has been in rain. The helmet is exactly what I was expecting and did not let me down. Airflow is pretty good, fit is leaning towards a race fit. Visor was not as complicated to use as other reviews have mentioned. Over all great product from Icon.

Thought it was too small at first...
The helmet arrived in exceptional packaging. When I first tried to put it on, I thought "NO WAY" was this going to fit on my head. Well, push it down hard and your head will pop in. I was wearing an HJC Medium for two seasons, and I ordered this in a medium, after measuring my head. I realized that this helmet was superior in protection to the HJC, once I got it on. I feel like I finally have a proper fitting helmet, even though the initial putting it on/taking it off was TIGHT. But once its on, it fits nice and snug and I feel like it will actually protect my head. I love the styling. There are plenty of vents. I just wish it had a quick release, like the HJC.

this is my first full face, and I'm super happy with it. it vents great and is a no frills lid. like others have said it does have a tight opening but like the cheek pads the neck roll loosens up with use. I highly recommend this lid as I use it as a daily commuter in the Deep South.

I've had several icon helmets before mostly alliance line. The airmada has a "tailored" fit to me and is much lighter due to the shell size matching your size fit. Super nice, great venting for an economically priced helmet!!
