Great helmet for the money! Fast shipping is plus with this company. They have a wharehouse in New Jersey, so this helmet arrived at my house in Maryland the next day-nice! First the downside-it runs about a size small. I wear a Shoei medium and a large in the Airmada. No problems returning the helmet. I was impressed how wide the vision was in this helmet. I have the yellow hi-viz and it is very bright, but not to the point where you look like a giant pumpkin riding down the road. The black and white graphics set it off nice. The helmet is very comfortable to wear, the shield is no hassle to use. I didn't really notice the helmet being too tight going on, but it is kind of tight initially and then when it sits where it is supposed to it drops right in and fits like a glove. The noise seemed a little loud, but that all depends on the bike you ride etc. It flows air adequately. I liked it so much, my son just bought the same helmet. I ride a 2009 Concours and just did a 6 hour trip-very comfortable and the water rolls right off in the rain. Nice job Icon! May 21, 2013
excellent fit once you break it in Great styling and fit from icon. Chose the hi viz stack and receive compliments everywhere I go. Fitment is great although you do have to stretch straps to squeeze your head into the helmet, just take a bit to get used to. Pretty loud since has many vents but flows really great. Also there is a slight whistling so I started wearing ear plugs. Finally I really like this helmet, I feel like it will do great in the hot summer weather of new England, and would like to thank revzilla for the best customer service around. It couldn't be brighter if it was on fire!!! HiViz is an understatement. Brightest orange you have ever seen!!!. Fit is firm and comfortable with a well designed padding layout and construction. HydraDry lining is soft,smooth,moisture wicking material that is both cool and comfortable. Airflow is unmatched in anything I have worn in 25 yrs.This is a summer helmet. Optics are superb in both the clear and dark smoke shields and changes are easy. 3rd Icon helmet,but this one is a whole other level. I would put this up against helmets twice the price. May 9, 2013
Really really hi-viz. Really. This review is for the hi-viz yellow version of this helmet. When I saw the color online, I wasn't convinced it was going to be the "right" yellow. It seemed pretty subdued in the photos. However, the actual color is the industrial-accident, cover-your-eyes, tinge-of-green hi-viz yellow. Yowza. Beyond the color, there are a few things to say. First, the shape is not as long-oval as advertised. It fits about the same as my Scorpion EXO-700, which is sold as a medium-oval lid. Cheekpads and liner can be replaced, which may help. But know that if you have a rhinoceros head like I do, the Arai Signet line may be the better choice. Second, the locking pin for the shield is a bit weird. I'll probably get used to it with practice, but for now it feels like I'm trapped in the helmet as I fight with it. Third, there is all kinds of ventilation. Maybe too much. This is going to be a great summer helmet. Winter, maybe not so great. Unfortunately, all this ventilation probably leads to the higher-than-I-expected noise level. Fourth, the shield optics are fantastic. No distortion even at the edges. I haven't tried a shield change yet, so can't comment on how easy or difficult it is. I recommend this helmet, but am not completely happy with the noise level or the fit. Thanks! May 8, 2013
Great helmet This is only my second road helmet. My other is an RF-1100 medium. I wanted a Hi Viz helmet and this was recommended to my by Kat in the store. I only have a few rides on it but like it a lot. I got the medium. It is a snug fit and fits close around the bottom, but I wouldn't call it tight. I think the comfort is on par with the Shoei, but a slightly different fit. Airflow is better than the RF. There is wider vision than the Shoei. Noise level low, probably about same. The Icon feels more aerodynamic, especially with a head turn. The shield lock down is a little different on the Icon, consisting of the shield engaging a pin which is a little stiff to release, at least now when new, but seems to be efficient and work well. The graphics are OK, they don't excite me that much, but the helmet is bright, which is what I wanted. Overall I'm very impressed. At $260, I feel I got a good deal. April 10, 2013
Awesome helmet-fits tight! Helmet fits great. It's definitely a little tight to squeeze on the head but after a minute or two I don't notice at all. Haven't had the chance to ride with it yet but the venting seems pretty good. Colors are awesome! Definitely will get noticed!! March 20, 2013
So bright in person no pictures does it justice!!!!!!!! First, of all its so bright! I stood on my porch with the helmet in my hand, my porch is about 100feet from the road and everyone driving by turned and looked. Defiantly be seen! the graphics on the helmet are amazing. I highly recommend the dark smoke visor looks good without it, but it makes the yellow pop even more with it. I also purchased extra side plates. That way you don't have to swap them when changing shields. The helmet fits super tight. Not easy on and off, but once its on fits true to size. I also ordered the SB1 Icon Sportbike jacket with it in the blue to match my 2011 zx6r, also got the Joe Rocket 2.0 gloves. Check out the pictures if your thinking about getting any of these products go for it you wont be disappointed. March 7, 2013
Great helmet value - runs small Kudos to RevZilla for the exchange and refund program they have. I'm a new rider, so getting gear fit exactly to my needs is difficult on-line. After watching all the helmet videos, I was pretty set on this ICON helmet as a hi-viz option. My head size fell right on the bubble of Md/Large sizing, so I ordered the medium. Well the medium is too small - it'll fit with effort and getting it off is more like imitating a Pez dispenser, but it will fit. The large gives you just that little extra room to put on and take off the helmet. It still fits snug. Keep this in mind if you order this helmet, and maybe you won't have to do a size exchange. Sight visibility is great with a excellent field of view. Ventilation is great, although a bit noisy. I wear glasses as well, they fog up a little at first, but cracking the visor a little until I get out of the neighborhood does the trick, by then I can close the visor the whole way and have no problems the rest of the ride. I have an Airframe from 2009 (?), how does this new Airmada compare in terms of weight and overall shell size? The shield and venting look like a step up, and the overall look is very similar. I wear an XS, so I was thinking the Airmada would look and feel a little less bulky on my head. Do you know if the Airframe will be updated at all? If not, seems like the Airmada is a better helmet at a lower price point....

In regards to the sizing, you are right. The Airmada does what higher end manufacturers (Arai, Shoei) do by making the shell for the size rather than using one shell size and different inserts.

The main difference is in the actual shell material (thus the lower price point). The Airmada is a polymer (plastic for lack of a better term) shell. The Airframe is a composite shell (fiberglass, carbon fiber, dyneema) which is stronger.

As for the ventilation, the Airmada has a nice forehead vent that the Airframe does not. But, from what I understand, they both have great airflow so it's not much of a factor.

One other thing that this helmet does not have, which was a must for me as a commuter, is a chin curtain. They do not and, having contacted Icon directly, will not manufacture a chin curtain for the Airmada as the helmet's design does not accept one.
