Icon Airframe Ghost Helmet

The tactical advantage requires equipment and experience that are up to the challenge. Enter the Ghost Carbon Airframe. The Airframe chassis, hand-laid carbon fiber shell, translucent supervents, endurance yellow tinted Optics shield - finished with Icon's exclusive Rubatone tactile coating. The Ghost Carbon is prepared to drop into a scenario and leave no trace upon its exit.

The Icon Airframe Ghost Carbon is equipped with multiple safety and comfort features, developed through exhaustive lab research and real world testing. When fitted properly, the precisely engineered Fiberglass/Dyneema/Carbon Fiber composite shell and energy absorbing dual-density EPS liner greatly reduce the possibility of head injuries in the event of an accident. To keep you focused on what's ahead of you the Icon Airframe is fitted with Icon's new Proshield. Not only is the Proshield available in a variety of tinted styles with side plates for more graphic real estate, it features the Prolock shield lock system to keep your shield locked down. Even during those 150mph head-checks.  Additionally, the HydraDry moisture wicking material used throughout the interior comfort liner and extensive venting system combine to produce the industry's most ventilated and comfortable helmet.

Features:

  • Fiberglass/Dyneema/Carbon Fiber shell
  • Medium oval headform
  • Wind tunnel tested and refined
  • Multiple oversized intake and exhaust ports
  • Removable molded breather deflector reduces shield fogging

excellent helmet I am using my Icon helmet for track days and find it a nice quiet helmet. I would suggest a dark visor instead of the yellow one though April 14, 2014
Lacks quality but looks nice Ive had my airframe for awhile now and it is a very very noisy helmet. The big shell size makes me look like a big bobble head. The graphics do look cool but just not worth the trade off in quality. I wear a medium and it felt a bit loose compared to the medium in my new helmet. Ive switched helmets to a shoei gt-air and the difference in quality and noise is huge. March 31, 2014
Great!! Great qualinty worth every penny! The carbon fiber is great quality and fitment is right on. February 10, 2014
Excellent venting and very light helmet I live in a very hot and wet climate country/city (~30°C), I use this helmet everyday commuting to work. I usally leave all the intakes opend and for very few times I found myself sweating inside the helmet. This helmet vents really well! Another pro of this helmet is its light weight which makes is very comfortable to use. Also, it is a awesome looking helmet just like the pictures show. On the downside, I would say the yellow shield is a con. When it is sunny, it does not protect too much against the sun and when it is night, it reduces visibility considerably (Icon advert it thought). The shield does a better job when it is cloudy. So, a dark shield for the day and a clear shield for the night would be more recommendable. The locking system is a bit of pain as well if you try to open it with one hand only, it is just too hard compared to other helmets systems. December 16, 2013
Great Helmet to Crash In We never want to consider crashing in our gear, especially when you pay a premium cost for it. That said, if you're on the fence about this helmet and whether it is worth the money, take my advice and buy it. I owned this amazing looking helmet for a week. Yes, one week before I laid down my bike doing about 40 mph. In the process, the helmet was damaged on top and on the face shield. I suffered no head trauma of any kind. No dizziness, no headaches. It protected my head very well and because of that I'll be buying a second one. The helmet does flow a good amount of air, has great visibility and is very light weight. You hardly notice it on your head once it is on. Very little to no fatigue over long rides. No issues with air resistance when turning your head. Only issue I had was it wasn't quite as easy to change face shields the first time out. Not nearly as hard as some other helmets, but it isn't the 10 second change setup like some other helmets. Overall, no issue if you need to swap visors. If you value your head and have some extra cash to spend, buy this helmet. November 24, 2013
Very Good Helmet! I love this helmet, I was surprised by how the yellow visor feels like at night. Had to check more than once to make sure its really there! flawless feel. Very light helmet, only thing that annoys me a bit is the wind noise that still makes it into the helmet. I still recommend it and adore it November 21, 2013
Cool factor makes up for loudness Obviously, if you're reading this, you know the ICON brand; this product does not disappoint in terms of style and visual impact. The helmet is surprisingly light and extremely comfortable, with excellent airflow (although it is likely going to need some additional insulation during the winter). The tactical yellow lens provides unbelievable contrast, good under most lighting conditions although I found that in full sunlight it was almost too much light. The aerodynamics were excellent; head checks resulted in no appreciable drag. As with the other reviewers, I found the Ghost to be very noisy, so earplugs or earphone would be appreciated on extended trips. Overall, a beautiful helmet and one where the minor disadvantages are more than compensated for by the benefits. November 19, 2013
super light helmet this helmet is sick looking and is very very light. I wear a medium in Shoei helmets, I have the Shoei GT Air Wanderer helmet and it fits beautifully. This helmet in medium runs a bit big so I probably should've gone with the small but it doesn't move around very much unless I'm really grabbing it. Ive been complimented by a lot of girls on the helmet. The carbon fiber look with the yellow shield really stands out in a cool mil spec way. the yellow shield also helps everything around you pop to help you see everything around you. The one thing I really like about this helmet is when I'm at a stop the yellow shield doesn't fog up, like my Shoei helmet I can't see at all. November 18, 2013

James M: I would do xL, I allways wore xL, but now I am where ing a M , after it breaks in. You want it alittle tight then it breaks in and does not move at any speed. You can allways send it back rev is the best co. For that. It is also a very light helmet. So you will need ear plugs. It's a very good helmet , you will love it. Ride save enjoy!! Jm Mar 18, 2014

Brian S: If most XL helmets fit you then this one probably will as well. It's a very comfortable helmet to wear and I haven't noticed any pressure areas while wearing it. Mar 18, 2014

A shopper asked: Does this helmet make a lot of noise and if so then how loud is it and is it annoying when riding? Dec 2, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
scott l: Its loud. I don't carry a decibel meter ...so I can't tell you for sure. I don't like the wind noise. So I wear headphones or ear buds and can still hear the wind... I am very happy with the rest of the helmet. Its by far the best helmet I have ever used. Dec 2, 2013

James M: It's alittle noises , but it's light and if you ride long hours then buy it. All you need is some ear plugs. Most light helmets are loud . I would buy it again. But you will need some ear plugs. Dec 2, 2013

A shopper asked: Are there speaker pockets in the liner for aftermarket Bluetooth system? Dec 27, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Magnus M: I haven't tested it yet, but I did check it out for you now and it does look like there's pockets to slip speakers into (not like my Shohei where you remove part of the padding to mount adhesive speakers).

I would add a picturelink, but seems it's not allowed.

A shopper asked: Is this helmet AS/NZS 1698 certified? does it have the sticker? Aug 28, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Nathan L: I would say no. The US helmets are DOT approved and we here in Aus are required to carry the AS/NZ 1698 approval. Check your state legislation though because they are starting to change the ruling and you might find that your state will allow differ approval helmets such as Euro and DOT as they are basically the exact same helmet. Hope this helps Sep 3, 2013
