Firstgear Women's Contour Mesh Jacket

The Firstgear Contour Mesh Jacket for women looks hot while keeping you cool. Once the waterproof liner is zipped out, you'll feel the airflow that identifies this jacket. The tail of the Contour Mesh is slightly dropped, keeping you completely covered, no matter your style of riding. CE approved shoulder and elbow armor, comfort collar and adjustable waist straps round out the list of desirable features no woman rider should pass by.

Features:

  • Women's fit: Tapered to fit a woman's shape
  • Zip-out waterproof liner
  • CE-approved armor at shoulders and elbows
  • One-hand adjustable waist belts
  • Secured pockets throughout

Note: Contour Mesh jackets are designed for a tight fit; you may need to get a size larger than you would normally expect, depending on your body type.

Perfect for warm weather riding
I live in south Texas where it's warm (no, hot) pretty much all year 'round. I will sometimes go without a jacket because it's just too darned hot, but always feel unprotected and vulnerable. I recently purchased this jacket in an XS White to wear when I ride my little Honda Rebel. I'm 4'11" and 105 lbs with curves (2P-4P). At first, I was concerned it would be too small, but my husband reminded me that sometimes a larger size catches the air and puffs up like the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man. So, I took it for a test drive this weekend. It was fantastic. Very comfortable. The liner was a great windbreaker for the very early morning chill, but pulled right out and stored away nicely for the mid-morning heat. Amazing air flow. I was plenty cool, well protected, and highly visible. Also, it has plenty of pockets both in the liner and in the jacket. I love it. The only con I can find is that being petite, the sleeves are a little long when your arms are at your side. However, when you're riding, the sleeve length is great to go over your gloves. I also like that the back is slightly longer to give you some added privacy. :) Nothing can stop you from sweating at the stop lights in 90-100 degree weather. Well, maybe an air conditioned jacket! But until that comes along, I'm sure that this jacket will provide enough air flow that I'll not be tempted to forgo all-day protection to ease a few minutes of heat discomfort.

Good Women's Cut & Fit
I ride daily in Los Angeles and needed a new mesh jacket for the heat. It has good air flow and keeps me cool. The liner easily zips in and out for when it cools off at night and it has kept me warm at 68 degrees so far. We're still in hot weather here. I think the protection is pretty good for a mesh jacket and the air flow works very well. I'm hot sitting at lights but who isn't? Soon as I go, air flow picks right up and does its job. I bought the hi viz neon yellow and I noticed "being noticed" right away. I can see drivers "SEE" me and sometimes alter what they are about to do, like NOT bolt a turn in front of me. I also have a grey & black mesh jacket and a white leather and this hi viz jacket I can really see the difference of being seen by drivers. I'm 5'6" and range from 132 to 136 lbs. with a 36" chest. I bought the Medium. It fits my arm length correctly and the shoulder & elbow armor sits right. It has room in the chest and belly & arms for more but the jacket doesn't feel too loose. It is generous with space so I think it will fit many different shape/sized women. I specifically bought this one for the hi viz, the tapered cut around the chest and the extra back lower lip to hide low rise jeans crack. I also like the reflective strip along the chest. I'm pleased with the fit and the cut is more flattering to women and more comfortable. I haven't upgraded the back armor but I like that this new jacket has that capability and I probably will do that soon.

Good jacker for warm days
This jacket has been great for these hot summer days. Great airflow when moving down the road. I picked the bright teal which I thought would be more visible but not gaudy. I like it, it's a good mix with my all black Ninja 300. All in all I really like it, but just as a heads up to others, I generally wear size medium (I'm 5'7", 140lbs). I tried this on in a store before making my purchase and they only had a medium, it was too small, too tight and sleeves too short. When I ordered on RevZilla I got a large and it fits well, I tightened it up a little bit with the cinch straps on each size. Good purchase, feminine fit.

Nice Enough, But Very Short
I returned this jacket shortly after receiving it in the mail. It fit well enough and seemed like a decent jacket, hence all of the average ratings, but it has a really short waist. Since I'm on the tall side (5'9") it barely met the waist of my pants. Any normal shirt I wore hung out the bottom of the jacket. I don't like the hassle of returning stuff (packaging it up, taking it to shipper, etc.), but I just didn't see myself ever feeling comfortable with it. So I decided to suck-it-up and send the jacket back. The return process was simple enough even if I did still have to put it back into its box and take it to the shipper. LOL.

If you're a small person or have a short torso, it might be fine for you. It definitely didn't work for me.

Crop top jacket
I love the color of the high viz yellow but unfortunatley this jacket has to go right back. I am 5'2, 155, 34DD. This jacket was soo short. It didnt even go past my hips. Maybe for the ladies that arent so busty, this jacket will be perfect. For me it was way too short.

Great Jacket for the money!
Great all around jacket for my GF. She is petite 5'3" with small hips and ladylike curves. The jacket fits her well, the style looks very reasonable, the features of the pockets, reflectors, lining, and textile/mesh are quality.

I would recommend to others.

Better than expected!
After sweating through a ride in 90+ degree temperatures, I ordered this jacket in desperation! I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived.

I have been waiting for a women's jacket that is colorful and visible without being pink, so I ordered the blue and white. Great color! I found the fit to be generous even with the liner in. The cut (high in the front, low in the back) is very functional in that it allows for freedom of movement and coverage in case you're wearing lower jeans. The only thing I can say is that I wish the shoulders were rounded a bit more, but it's a motorcycle jacket with armor so I suppose I can't complain. Overall, a great value!

Firstgear Women's Contour Mesh Jacket
I bought this jacket in white because light colors seem to work best for me in the summer heat. This jacket lets in maximum air flow something the other jackets that have partial mesh and partial textile don't. The liner works well to block some of the wind if it drops a bit cooler at night but it's great for hot days. I have found no jacket that feels cool sitting in traffic in hot humid temps but this one is certainly the coolest and perfect once you get moving. I am 5'2 138lbs and ordered a large. I have a little room in it which i like but it fits snug enough where it needs to. Favorite summer jacket

great fit for hour glass shape
This jacket has great airflow... I bought the hi-vis yellow one and it keeps me visible and protected in hot weather. Because isn't this why we buy a mesh jacket - we want more protection than a t-shirt but we don't want to roast? Fortunately, I ordered it just before the big west coast heat wave and it kept me protected & comfortable in the 90+ degree weather. The revzilla video reviews of this jacket and also the first gear mesh tex were very helpful for selecting fit. I'm 5'3" and hourglass shaped, so appreciated the fit of the contour mesh jacket. Being petite with broad shoulders, it is easy to look ridiculously boxy in armour, but with the nipped in waist and the clever cut of the curved hi vis yellow panels with the contrasting black side panels, I can still look like a petite woman while being protected in armour. the back pad is a little flimsy...really just 3/8" waffled foam. I put the back armour from my cold weather jacket in the pocket instead and it fit nicely. I haven't used the inner liner yet, but i appreciated that the inner pockets are mirrored in the liner, so there still is accessible storage with or without the liner. FYI the yellow is a hi-vis yellow even though in the revzilla photo looks more like flat regular yellow. the color is more like the yellow that is represented in the revzilla photos of the hi vis yellow mesh tex jacket photo.

Great Mesh Jacket for the Ladies
This was described in the video as the jacket for hour glass shaped women, as compared to a different mesh jacket. I fall into hour glass category, broad shoulders and hips. With that said, I usually have trouble finding womens cut jackets that actually fit by hips, this jacket does. This jacket fits great. I wear a 16, got the XL and I'm very happy with the cut and fit.

Many appealing features: zip out lining, good airflow ,light color with just enough black to make it look sharp, longer in the back for coverage, my husband has a Firstgear jacket that he's really happy with. It looks like a nice jacket, with nice lines. Can't wait to get it. Price is really reasonable.

I really like the feminine look that this jacket has. Plus it had several colors to choose from. I love the lip on the back of this jacket giving me extra coverage. It should be fantastic for summer weather considering I live in 100 degree weather all the time. So excited to get it!!!

Trusted brand name and good reviews. Purchased for my girlfriend. She chose this model over others in Sil/Blk. Available in silver without black on chest and shoulders. Decided this would aid more in less sun heat absorbtion. Most other brands/models had black areas we didnt want.

Sahaja C on Dec 22, 2013
I purchased this for a female friend who is very petite and athletic yet still has a distinctly feminine shape. Due to her small size, she has been very hard to fit (with the last jacket purchase being way too large even though it was a size XS - different brand). After e-mail correspondence with Firstgear and reading Revzilla reviews saying that the Contour line runs a little tight/small, I decided to give this purchase a try. Plus Dainese gear in smallest sizes was unavailable. Oh well.

I was looking for a mesh jacket because I was wanting some protection while riding my motorcycle. I also wanted one that looked good and not boxy. Color was also a big factor. If this jacket didn't come in the color I liked, I would have kept on looking.
Melva M on Aug 17, 2013
I previously tried the WM size in this same jacket, so I think the large will fit better with more room to add another base layer when needed. I will have to have the sleeve length shortened, but that seems like my only option since MC jackets aren't made with short sleeve lengths. This jacket has a very nice fit!

I would like to purchase a back protector for this jacket. The video mentioned a D30 Viper "medium". I didn't notice size options on the Klim D30 Viper, when looking online. I also noticed other "D30" back protectors. Which should I purchase for this size Small jacket?
A shopper on May 6, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I got a small Countour Mesh for my wife but I also wanted to upgrade the armor to D30. The ones sold here under the Icon name fit. The Icon D30 shoulder and elbow pads, which are A coverage level 1 rated, were a snug fit in the movable pockets. The Icon D30 man's back pad is a medium level 1 and fit perfectly. Strange that a man's back pad would be the right fit for a woman's small jacket. Do not try to use the Klim Pro series D30 pads, they are B coverage level 2 pads and too large for the pockets. The Klim D30 back pad is a large level 2 and way too big. Now my Firstgear Adventure Mesh is fully equipped with good fitting level 2 D30 pads(Klim) and my wife's Firstgear Countour Mesh with level 1 D30 pads.
Am ready to order but wondering about washing them. Are they machine washable?
I would love a color but worried about it getting dirty...yeah I know...I'm on a bike
But that's me...I am always washing stuff:-)
A shopper on Dec 24, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The tag inside says the following:

Hand Wash Cold
Dry Clean Only
Cool Iron
Do Not Tumble Dry
Do Not Bleach

Therefore, I wouldn't suggest Machine Washing it. With that said, my wife owns this exact Jacket in All White and it has held up REALLY well. She's used it probably 30+ rides and hasn't had to wash it yet. For that kinda durability, I'll just pay the fee to dry clean it twice a year and be happy. She also loves how comfortable it is, and with the liner it can really be used as a Summer and Winter jacket here in So Cal.
I see the material is polyester - is this as protective as some other mesh jackets made of tougher material? Thinking safety...
A shopper on May 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I think the general rule when it comes to protective capabilities is, in order of most protective, 1. Leather 2. Textile 3. Mesh. Even if the mesh is made from a dense material, by its nature it is more porous and feasibly less protective. Especially on the lower end jackets (which this is, compared to the $600+ higher end stuff). So to answer your question directly, from my understanding, textile is automatically more protective than mesh.
Hi! I'm looking for a breathable and affordable jacket, but I want to find one where I can upgrade the back protector without cutting the back protector. Is there any back protector insert that will fit into this jacket without having to be cut down to size? Thank you!

BEST ANSWER: I use the back armor from my Corazzo 5.0 jacket, which fits perfectly in the insert pocket, no cutting required The Corazzo site says the 5.0 uses Knox Armor, so perhaps the Knox Women's TP2 Advance X CE Back Protector would work? The pocket opening is narrow, so you have to kind of roll the armor vertically a bit to get it in the opening, but it does fit nicely once you get it through the zipper opening. I tried putting my Dianese Wave G back protector in & it wouldn't fit through the zipper opening
After reading the reviews and from the look and price this jacket looks like the perfect fit for my fiance. My only question is what the rating for temperature is for this jacket? We live in Denver, Co and usually ride from March thru October and a few nice days in the winter. I want to make sure this is warm enough for about 40 degree temps for up to about 1.5 to 2 hours of riding. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Also, how many pockets and are they big enough for a phone/small women's wallet?

Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: I would consider this a 1.5 season jacket, for warm weather only. I personally wouldn't wear it down to the 40 degrees, if you paired it with thermals you MIGHT be okay, but the jacket and it's liner really don't do much as far as insulation.

The two side pockets are big enough for like an iphone and/or a small wallet, but I wouldn't plan on fitting a clutch purse inside of it.
Would this product size be the same as a Joe Rocket jacket. also can the waist be adjusted. ?

BEST ANSWER: Don't know about J Rocket jacket. I always fit in ladies size 6 (5'4" 125) and this jacket in small fits perfectly. Bottom sides have Velcro straps which hit at hip bones not waist they adjust smaller to take up slack but don't make jacket larger. Sleeves hit at knuckles but are the right length when you're riding with hands on handlebars. There is no extra room in front arm holes of jacket which is okay with me - hot weather jacket doesn't need room for layering and wouldn't want any extra bulk. I have a cooling vest for 100 plus temps and the jacket fits fine over the vest. Except for low front pockets jacket is all mesh which facilitates more air flow in sleeves and core body. Very well made & good quality materials. I would highly recommend this jacket. Final word on size - probably need to order & put it on for a final decision
Is the blue/white color actually more of an aqua/turquoise? Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: Yes maybe teal blue would be a better description. It is a very vibrant sharp color on that jacket. It is a very fun sporty look!
I wear at least a 3x in a blouse. Should I order a 3x in this jacket?

I have the prior version of this jacket which I've been happy with but need to replace. Does anyone know how the new version compares in fit to the old one?
