This is the first time I’ve used a back protector. In terms of sizing I’m 6’2” so I ordered the 13 LG according to the Dainese sizing guide. On me the protector runs level with the top of my shoulders and extends down to my tailbone (Coccyx). It fits nicely under both my Revit Airwave jacket and CoolPro Mesh Jacket. When moving, there is adequate airflow around and down the back when riding in 95 degree weather. However, we'll see how it feels when the 110 degree temps arrive. For the most part it's not noticeable, but occasionally it gives me the feeling of wearing a back pack. I bought this back protector because I wanted the maximum protection possible. It gives me a feeling of security to the point that I won't ride without it…should have had one on sooner. I think I got my moneys worth. Hopefully, I'll never find out.
Other Thoughts: I think it would have been better to use a non-elastic shoulder strap, as these will eventually wear and stretch out, especially with the extreme heat.

This once again a product I have not yet ridden with, but as with all the Dainese products I have owned whether it be gloves, boots, one piece, two piece leather suits, or back protectors, I have never had an issue.
This one is a replacement for my old Dainese Back Space (which came with my Sukhoi one piece suit back in 2005). Since I bought a new Dainese Laguna one piece with the big venturi extractor back hump, I figured lets take full advantage of this thing and maximize venting by updating the back protector. I actually ordered the Thorax Wave back protector, but unfortunately the chest protector piece did not fit in the suit. I proceeded to return that one and went with just the Wave w/scapula. It feels comfortable, and honestly I can hardly notice it's there (mind you my suit is not even broken in yet which speaks volumes for the comfort and fit of Dainese products). It has scapula protection, shoulder straps, as well as a second trap system, which really allows for this fine tuning at the waist and adds a bit of bracing (all nice upgrades from my previous back protector). I went with the hi-viz yellow just to jazz it up a little even though it sits inside the suit. Just a nice option.
In terms of sizing, I'm a regular 12, but the 12 in yellow was going to be a back order, so I decided to go to an 11. To be honest, there really is a minimal difference (we're talking an inch if that from what I can tell). The scapula protection still sits over my scapula, and the height of the back protector is still appropriate. Standard size is 12 but an 11 works for me.
I anticipate it to flow a ton of air and to be as comfortable if not more than it is currently in an unbroken in state. Just another great piece of gear from Dainese.

This back protector fits well and the shoulder straps means it stays in place. It is one of the few back protectors I've seen that covers your scapula (shoulder blade) which is why I bought it. It fits snugly with my body contours and isn't a problem under my leathers. Another superb product from Dainese. I just hope I don't have to test it!

I measured from belly button to the top of the shoulder. Remember, the average person or "normal torso" will be a size 12. I measured for a 12, but just decided to go with an 11 because that one was available in hi-viz yellow. To be honest it really did not make much difference. I've tried on a 12 and the difference is negligible. Put it this way, you're better off going slightly smaller than slightly bigger. And this applies even more if you're putting this in a race suit (one or two piece). If you're wearing this with just a jacket you can't really go wrong with either.

We highly recommend finding a cloth tape measure and taking the time to take these measurements. Dainese sizes will not necessarily correlate with fitment in other brands.
