Alpinestars Nucleon Back Protector Insert
The back pad which came with my A* jacket was quite sad compared to this insert. This insert is extremely strong and protective while maintaining comfort through its flexibility. For less than 50 dollars I made my jacket much more confidence inspiring. Recently I also went camping with this back protector in my jacket and I was easily able to roll my jacket up and slip it in my bag.

Nice Price and Fits Well
I am 6'0". I bought this back protector in large to fit in my large Alpinestars Megaton Drystar jacket. It fits perfectly, is light and seems like it could take a good hit. Compared to the foam that comes in the jacket, it is stiffer, but once I wear it for a few minutes I don't even notice it's there.
It's hard to beat class 2 performance for the price.

not best for Older A* jackets
I have 2011 the Alpinestars GP-R Perforated Leather Jacket. At the time it was made, the back protector section was to support a larger piece of armor. The smaller, Nucleon back protector moves around significantly in the larger channel. Nothing some Velcro couldn't fix, but just an FYI for those with older jackets.

Wow! Simpler design, more protection, and less expensive than previous models? Yes Please!
I have a bionic air insert in a leather jacket that I was planning to use in a new Adventure style jacket I purchased recently. However, the bionic air insert was too large. So, I shopped around for what was new on the market and found this. It turns out it's the same CE2 armor that's used in my Adventure jacket for the shoulder and elbow armor. It's extremely lightweight and conforms to your body so it's very comfortable and it breathes great too. I can't comment on how well it does to protect my back, and I hope I never have to find out, but it does seem to absorb impact very well with the few silly tests I tried with it. You can't go wrong with buying this to replace the foam that comes with most jackets. At this price, it's a no-brainer.

Feels very safe, but rigid
I'm happy with this back pad - it fits nicely in my Alpinestars Stella jacket, the only drawback is how stiff the pad is. It doesn't really conform to my body at all. Overall it makes me feel safe though and I'm glad to have purchased it.

Size Large perfect fit for Scout Touring Drystar in medium
I ordered the Nucleon so that my AlpineStars Scout Touring Drystar jacket would have some actual protection for my back.
Relative to the Klim D30 Viper T5 that I cut down to fit the long narrow back protector pocket in my First Gear Rush jacket, the Nucleon is lighter and initially feels stiffer, but that feeling seems to go away after a few minutes. I've worn my Ogio Mach 5 backpack with the Nucleon installed, and not noticed any comfort issues with the weight of the backpack pressing against it. Airflow doesn't seem noticeably different from before I had the back protector installed, but the Scout is my Spring/Fall jacket and I rarely ride during the hottest parts of the day, so that issue may not come up for me.
For sizing, I strongly recommend measuring the existing back protector that comes with your particular jacket and comparing it to the measurements that can be found in the Revzilla Q&A section. Medium was recommended for medium sized AlpineStars jackets like mine, but it's back protector pocket was properly sized for the large Nucleon back protector
