Good product for the price.
Overall a good product. The protector slips down during a ride and is difficult to readjust without unzipping your jacket.

Why not have more protection?
Seriously, if you have a Dainese jacket with the pocket for the protector why not put it in? Fits in the pocket, you don't even know its there. My only grip is that when you take off the jacket, it falls out. The pocket should have a type of fastening system to hold it in. I will make something myself. I switch it from my textile jacket to my leather so I can't permanantly attach it. But it does not move or fall out when the jackets are on. Just when you take the jacket off.

Another good dainese product
I have the Dainese Frazer Pelle jacket. After I realized what the pocket was for on the inside, I decided I should buy a chest protector for added protection. The pocket was labeled for a "thorax" chest protector which is no longer in production. I bought the L2 instead and am happy to report that it fits perfect. The chest protector does add a little bulk to the jacket but its not that bad. And, above all, its very comfortable. You dont even notice it after a few minutes. Given that this product adds another layer, it felt rather breathable and wasn't stifling.

Dainese: Split Chest Protector coming soon!
I ware size Dainese 52 Jackets and U.S. Large T-Shirts and Italian Dainese XL T-Shirts. The L2 in Size: SMALL fits me perfect! It gives way more upper body mobility then the sugested size Med. I sized down and voilà!

I would feel naked riding without the Small - Dainese: L2 Chest Protector.

Dainese: Split Chest Protector coming soon!
Double Chest Protector is a great idea, about time! So the dam thing does not fall out of your jacket when you need to open it while walking around.

Dress for the crash not the ride!

Works fine
It is a bit of a pain getting it in and out of the half pocket in my jacket every time I put it on or take it off, but other than that it stays fine while I'm zipped up. I bought a jacket one size larger to accommodate for the L1 and the G2 back protector, and everything fits well and is comfortable. If you have a Dianese jacket with the insert pocket, this is the way to go.

Sizing information is critical
Ordered a Large protector for my size 54 Racing D1 Jacket prior to the sizing information being published on this site. It does fit a little big and you can see the sides of the jacket bulge a little when it is inserted. Other than that there is no issue with the item and ventilation is good. I haven't had the opportunity to crash test it (fingers crossed).

Good protection at the expense of comfort
This chest protector is very easy to install and remove from the Dainese jacket. It offers good protection and it is lightweight. It is not that comfortable however and does not conform to your body that well. The feel is a bit odd since it "bulges" out quite a bit. I'm using a Medium size in my 52 Dainese Avro. I can only compare it to what Alpinestars offer. I like how Alpinestars chest protector is actually two pieces and feels more comfortable, but I think this Dainese chest protector would offer more protection of your sternum. I wouldn't ride without it, but I wish Dainese had a more comfortable option.

had a problem with this item...
I ordered the chest protector along with a new helmet. The package arrived just as I was loading up my gear and bike for a trip to watch the AMA races at Road America and then a couple of track days there afterwards. Delivery was just as I was leaving so I threw the box in the back of the van and got on the road.

Arriving at my campsite, the first thing I did (naturally) was to crack open a beer and start the campfire. After another beer, I remembered the package and opened it up. I pulled out the helmet and noticed that it was very well packed with a lot of paper and peanuts in an over-sized carton. I tried it on, and it fit great. Then I took it off, opened another beer, and threw the over-sized carton on the fire.

I will never know how the chest protector might have worked, but it burned nicely.

Fit my Alpinestars Andes Jacket
I admit I had to heavily modify these to fit my jacket but it worked. Had to cut these in half and trim the entire outside fabric. Only left the hard plastic and backing intact. Wasn't impressed with the Alpinestars chest protectors so went with these CE level rated ones instead.

Stylish and great protection
This chest protector is awesome! Typical Dainese style and the best protection. I have the thorax as well and wanted this one for track days as I thought it would have more movement and flex. I was right!! Definitely recommend the L1 for the track. Plus the quality materials and comfort was more than I was expecting.

Anyone have the actual height and width dimensions of the L2? I have a 52 jacket but am concerned about width of L2 affecting mobility. One reviewer similar in size to me said he used the small, but I want to be sure of correct size for maximum protection without compromising mobility. Thank you.
Anthony C on Dec 2, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hello Anthony, I am 5'11" , 172 pounds, thin build. My dianese textile size 54 is just a slight big bigger than the almost perfectly sized 52 in debated on getting. Since I wanted to add a hard Back protector and a chest protector, I went slightly larger with the 54. It worked out well. My L2 fits well and is comfortable. The dimensions are 10" across the top and 15", on the arc, at the bottom (14" linear from side to side. The bottom width is approx 5.5" in height with the overall vertical height being approx. 11" at the most and 9.5" in the center. Remember, you can return it if your concerned about size.
Enjoy the purchase and good luck,
Pat
Will this fit into the Dainese Super Speed C2 Perforated Leather Jacket?
A shopper on Jun 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi mate. I think so.
I got a Dainese Super Speed Textile Jacket and bought this L2 Chest protector.
I would think these 2 jackets have the same cut. Having said this:
Positives:
- It fits nice.
- Does not feel bulky on your chest.
- It protects the upper part of your chest and ribs.
Negatives:
- The Dainese Super Speed Textile Jacket does not lock in place the protector, meaning that every single time you open your jacket, the protector will fall off.
- Extra item to carry.

Hope this helps.
ps. You are choosing a nice jacket.
Can these fit the dainese air frame jacket?
Justin L on Aug 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I don't think the Air Frame jacket has a chest pocket for a chest protector. However, a lot of people will wear the L2 chest protector in jackets without a pocket for it because if the jacket fits right, the L2 chest protector won't move around much (because of how light it is).
Hi, isn't this the same for suits too ? So, we can insert it to suits as well ?
Can we ?

Dainese Laguna Seca One piece, I use.
Soumendra J on Mar 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: If someone's race suit fits properly, they are able to place this on their chest and the suit will hold it in place.
How thick is this chest protector?

Thanks
Karl C on May 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hey Karl:

The chest protector without measuring it, because I'm at work currently is about a half of inch thick. Hope this helps!
Does this fit Dainese Super Speed Textile jacket?
A shopper on Mar 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Technically it will work with any jacket as long as there is room. This is designed not to require a pocket with race suits. It just conforms to your chest and stays in place as long as what you wear over it fits well.
Is the L1 Chest Protector replacing the Thorax Chest protector?
A shopper on Mar 4, 2013
BEST ANSWER: No. Just 2 different designs. The L1 I think is more focused on track riders. Less protection but more movement for the rider. I have only seen racers use the L1, for years. Like Rossi and Guy Martin. I have never seen pro riders use the thorax. I think the thorax is more focused on sit up road riding although I have both and have used the thorax on track no problem
Does it fit into Thorax pockets of Dainese Jackets?
A shopper on Nov 28, 2012
BEST ANSWER: The Dainese L1 Chest Protector is actually a little smaller than the Thorax. However, Dainese designed the L1 to fit the Thorax pockets in their jackets. So you will be able to easily fit the L1 into a Thorax pocket.
does this fit with Dainese Laguna EVO Leather Jacket ?
A shopper on Jul 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't know, I've got the Frazer and it has a pocket for it. Seems like a detailed write-up on the Laguna would say this, or Revzilla Rep could simply grab one and look at it.... On mine, a zipper along the outer zipper track reveals the pocket...
Will this fit into the Dainese Super Speed C2 Perforated Leather Jacket?
Garret S on Jun 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Does your jacket have a chest protector pocket? If so, does it have chest protector pockets on both sides of the front or just one side. If you answered yes, and one side, then it will likely fit as long as you choose the size recommended for your jacket size.

This type of question is probably best for the gear geeks at revzilla.
