Arai Signet-Q Pro Tour Helmet

The Signet-Q Pro-Tour takes all the favorite features of the RX-Q and Signet-Q helmets to create a whole new series based on Arai's many innovations, including the radical new Pro Shade System which operates as both a peak and as a sun shade. The Pro Shade System is a small peak that is locked in position. Unlocking is easy; just pull the Pro Shade System forward, then it can be flipped down with a flick of the hand to act as an effective sun-visor.

On the outside, the Arai Signet-Q Pro-Tour Helmet looks very similar to it's namesake, the Signet-Q, but features several innovations on both the inside and outside. A longer shell shape on the Arai Signet-Q Helmet gives 5mm more space front to back allowing for a larger number of heads to fit comfortably. The shape of the Arai Signet-Q Pro-Tour Helmet releases forehead pressures and eliminate hot spots for a more comfortable fit every time.  This shape works best for riders with a long oval headshape.

Additional Features of the Arai Signet-Q Helmet

  • Pro Shade System for dual sun-blocking capabilities
  • Eco-Pure Liner is anti-microbial
  • Ear pockets have been redesigned to better accept communication speakers for a more comfortable fit
  • Both the top vent set and side exhaust cowls are direct carryovers from the RX-Q Helmet
  • Brow vent ducting redirects to flow air across the temples
  • DDL-4 exhaust vent to the 10mm wider eye port (5mm on each side)
  • Long Oval Fit
  • SAI "MAX-Vision Brow Vent" shield
  • Clear Pinlock Max-Vision Brow Vent Pinlock lens included
  • Elongated shell adds 5mm from front to back
  • Long-Oval shape helps prevent “Hot-Spot”
  • Multi-Density Single piece EPS liner
  • Removable, replaceable, washable interior
  • Dry-Cool Surface material for rapid displacement of heat and moisture away from your head and into the ventilation airflow for added comfort while riding and a quick dry between rides
  • 5mm peel-away temple pads adds another level of customization, giving the helmet interior a little extra width when needed
  • Enhanced for customizable micro fitment interior without the need to purchase extra interior components
  • FCS (Facial Contour Support) cheek pad design
  • Innovative and exclusive spring support adds just the right amount of pressure when needed while being worn
  • Meets or exceeds Snell and DOT standards

Finally a helmet that fits
I have a long oval head. Frankly I never knew I did utilize I was talking to a local dealer that sold Arai. The Signet Q fit my head so well. I had a neotec and while it was a good helmet I never use the modular feature and so that was wasted. This Arai is super comfortable, quiet and I finally have a helmet that fits my head really well. Great customer service by Revzilla as always.

Pros and Cons
Well, first let me say that I love this helmet. I'll do my best to explain why I like it so much and some reasons why it might not be for everybody.

The shape fits my head really well. Most of my riding time has been spent in Shoei RF helmets, most recently the RF1200. The signet has more of that "shoei" long oval shape. The padding on the inside is not as plush as I thought it would be, but after some breaking in the helmet has sunk perfectly onto my head. Now it's like a glove. I'm a shoei medium, but with this helmet I am a small. Just as a reference.

With regards to the pro-shade system. Its extremely simple. Those who have it continually coming down at speed must not have any mechanical inclination. You simple press it in very lightly and it locks. No problem. Really. No problem. The fact that it doesn't completely cover the main visor is something you get over in a couple of minutes. It also allows you to look down at your controls without a tint. My only issue with the pro-shade system is that the outer tinted visor leaves a very light rash on the main visor. At speed, the outer visor likely rubs *ever so slightly* on the main visor. It's unnoticeable to me, but could be bothersome. It's a design flaw, but like I said, no biggie.

Airflow is great. No problems there. But I will say one thing. And maybe because I'm coming from an RF1200...but hot dang is this helmet loud! Earplugs are always good when riding but this helmet will likely require them. Just sayin...

Overall, I think the helmet is awesome. Good weight, excellent fit and finish, and that Arai philosophy of no compromises in what they hold to be the most protective helmet. I hope to never use my helmet, but should that time come I do believe I have one of the best.

great helmet for long oval head shape
This was my first Arai helmet ever and I am pleased with it. I took it on a 2500 mile trip this summer just after purchasing it and I would say that no break in period was even needed for me to see positive results. I have a long oval head shape, and other helmets have been miserable, putting too much pressure on various head pressure points. I can comfortably ride 100+ mile stretches without needing to constantly adjust the helmet to relieve pressure like on other helmets. If you have a long oval head, this is worth the investment.

This helmet lives up to everything that is said about it
For myself, I have always had to due minor surgery on every helmet I ever had. I did so, to get a fit that that I could live with as far as comfort. I absolutely love this helmet. The fit is excellent. It is quiet. You can see out of it very good, and it looks great. I purchased the Black Diamond color and it matches my black Limited Harley as was expected. Black is Black. The only negative is not the helmet, the free freight took almost ten days to arrive. I can live with that. Revzilla seems to be a excellent store to purchase from. Head size is 24 In. Extra Large fits fine.

Arai Quality
I use Arai helmets for one reason: they fit my head shape. I also trust Arai's research and development in how the helmet performs in a crash. Saying that, I HATE the SAI face shield. It is flimsy, the little locking tab to lock the shield closed is a joke, it has no intermediate position (full closed or full open only), and the Pinlock does not fit properly without considerable adjustment. I had to file the plastic retainers to make the pinlock insert fit flush against the shield. Why doesnt Arai use the pinlock mounts that everyone else uses??? My other complaint is that the helmet is fairly loud, but thats due to the excellent ventilation... its a trade off.

Saying all that, I trust my life to Arai. And if you have a long oval head shape, definitely try one on! They do fit slightly large. I have a 23" head diameter, and the medium is ALMOST too big...

This is not a 5 star helmet
It is in most categories but you're going to buy it for that shade visor right? DON'T. It flips down when wind catches it the wrong way and can be alarming if not dangerous depending on the situation. Plus with it being on the outside vs inside like most other manufactures, you have to clean 2 visors and the shade visor is not easy to clean as it gets debris on the underside. It's a shame Arai spent so little time engineering and testing this new feature. It's a fail! I ripped mine off mid ride after the 4th time it flipped down in less that 3 hours.

Wife is Happy...Great Customer Service!!
My wife and I both ordered a Signet Q Pro, hers a medium that fit perfect, mine was an extra large and I couldnt close my mouth (fish lips)...just tooooo small....I measured myself again and found me to be a 2X Large....I called the next day and Brittany was awesome..apologized and sent me an email for the return...since it was my first they waived the return shipping of $7.95.

I trie to order it in a 2XL but they didnt have the same Black to match the wife's Signet so I did some research and went with the Defiant Pro Cruise, that was on a Thursday and tracking says it will be here on Monday...GREAT Customer Service all round and look forward to purchasing more in the future...$1200.00 for two helemts and wife didnt blink an eye...

Excellent design
I purchased the Signet-Q 4 months ago and have worn it commuting and all day rides since then. It fits my oval head perfectly with no hot spots and ALL of the features of the helmet work exactly as designed. It is one of very few products that I've purchased that I am not at least a little disappointed with.

I read that another reviewer had trouble with the tinted visor not staying up. After you raise the external, tinted visor you have to push it rearward and it locks into position. When you want to lower it you have to pull the tinted visor forward out of its detents then slide it down. The only time mine has come down was before I knew I had to snap it back into its detents.

Ventilation is as described. It is easy to get a comfortable gentle breeze through the helmet when it is hot (I've ridden from 55 to 104 degrees.) and to close the vents and lower the chin guard while riding in cooler weather.

Removal and reinstallation of the cheek pieces is a little tricky the first time, but easy to do if you repeat it a few times. (I watched an online video.) I've removed and washed all of the internals several times.

If it fits your head, the Signet-Q is a first rate product.

Exceptionally Comfortable!
I purchased this helmet to replace an 8 year old Arai Profile. I ride almost every day so comfort is important. When searching for the replacement I was open to other brands, I just wanted a flat black helmet that would look good with a dark smoke visor.

I had first purchased an AGV AX-8 Evo Naked for the looks. That helmet fit horribly and I ended up returning it within the hour I opened the box (thanks Revzilla!) and buying this Signet-Q Pro Tour; mostly because it has the long-oval shape that I needed.

The Signet-Q provides a VERY comfortable fit. My first ride with it was about 8 hours and I had no issues with fit or comfort. My head circumference measures 58.5, so I went with a large and it fits nice and snug.

With the helmet, I also purchased a dark smoke pinlock visor along with a regular SAI dark smoke face shield. The SAI face shield looks much better on the helmet. The only problem is that when removing the pinlock face shield, the Pro Shade comes off with it as it is attached to the face shield.

The black frost helmet has the 'murdered-out' look to include minimal decals and all of the decals are black. I am very happy with the purchase and Revzilla had the best price that I could find.

Long Oval shape. Most helmets I've tried, including the one I've used for years get a "hot spot" on my forehead
Ryan M on Jul 26, 2016
Past experience with Arai and it's comfort for a long-oval head shape like mine. I'm hoping the visor/sun shade will be a benefit heading into the sun or in dappled light on twisty tree-lined roads. Debated going with the dual-sport helmet but concerned it would be noisier on highway trips. We'll see how it works out. My experiences with Revzilla have all been good and its website and videos are extremely helpful.

I wanted a long oval shape....Arai is a quality helmet, and their Signet-Q is long oval.
Gary C on Jun 28, 2016
Choose the Signet-Q because it is one of the few high-end quality helmets that come in a true long oval fit. Choose the Pro-Tour variant because of the flip down sun visor.

Really like the helmet and visor. Did upgrade visor to the "long" version for more coverage and mirror finish.

Vernon C on May 30, 2016
Extremely comfortable fit for my (oblong) head shape. Other helmets put more pressure on the front and back of my head. The ventilation is excellent without blasting you with air. The sun visor/shade does stay in place at highway speeds. After you raise it up, you have to push it back toward the helmet into a locked position. To lower it, you pull it out (away from the helmet) then, pivot it down. The brow vents are excellent. So far I have been very comfortable in weather from 55 - 97 degrees.
Miker J on May 26, 2016
First Arai helmet I bought. Definitely, the quality and built is way different that the helmet's under $200 category. I'm digging the visor with built-in shade. No need for additional sunglasses like I used to. I read a review about not enough shade coverage from the sides, I didn't even notice it. Maybe because my vision is always looking straight when riding and if needed to look from either side, normal reaction is just turning my head.
Abriel L on May 16, 2016
Tried this helmet on in a local store and it is the best fitting, most comfortable helmet I have ever put on. For me, drop down shades are a must and I like that Arai put theirs on the outside of the helmet so that it can keep its Snell safety rating. While the price is steep, this helmet has nothing but benefits over its competition.

BEST ANSWER: These helmets are all Snell M2015 per the Arai press release you can find online.
Is the smoke visor removable? I am concerned about the wind noise it may cause.

I wear glasses, I've been wearing modular helmets for quite a long time. Typically they weigh a bit to a lot more than regular full face helmets. Is there anyone out there that own this helmet wear glasses with it?
Motoman on Jan 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I ride with glasses all the time and this helmet gives me no issues. No hot spots behind the ears with all the original inserts remaining. This is only slightly heavier the other top tier helmet I've worn but I am very happy with the comfort and visibility.

The pinlock works excellent and only started to fog at -10deg C. Yes, it was cold. My only gripe is on my Vstrom the tinted shield can sometimes snap down from the buffeting caused by the bikes wind screen. At 6'1" I seem to sit in that no mans land for turbulence.

I would buy again, no regrets.
Which com systems are people using with this helmet?
Brett H on Oct 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The only experience I have is with the Harley Ultra Limited wired communication which has worked great for the last 6,500 miles. The Arai Signet-Q Pro Tour is the best helmet I've ever owned and the fit for a long oval head shape is fantastic. I will tell you that in extremely bright sunlight you'll want to wear sunglasses as the tint of the tinted visor is mid-range.
The helmet comes with a yellow pinlock. Is it ok to use with the proshade system? I thought you should only use a clear pinlock not sure why it comes with yellow
A S on Jun 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I do believe you are looking at the protective film on the clear visor. It is clear, with the UV dark shade visor that pulls down, or stays up locked in place. A great system, no need at all for sunglasses any longer. Absolutely no fog too.

Peel off the protective film and see the light....
Do the current Pro-tour helmets come with the larger pro shade visors?
