What's this?

Arai Signet-Q Helmet

The Arai Signet-Q (the long-oval shaped cousin to the RX-Q) is the product of a racing lineage going back to the late 1970’s. Since Arai’s inception, their RX Line of helmets has set an international standard for rider comfort and safety. The Signet-Q is perfection incarnate, blending modern materials and safety features with decades of knowledge and racing heritage. The result are features like an eyeport designed to maximize peripheral vision, an aerodynamically tuned outer shell and a beautifully crafted and ultra comfortable liner. All these features, combined with industry-leading protection, provide riders with an unmatched level of safety and comfort.

A longer shell shape on the Arai Signet-Q Helmet gives 5mm more space front to back allowing for a larger number of heads to fit comfortably. The shape of the Arai Signet-Q Helmet releases forehead pressures and eliminate hot spots for a more comfortable fit every time.  This shape works best for riders with a long oval headshape.

Features:

  • Both the top vent set and side exhaust cowls are direct carryovers from the RX-Q
  • Brow vent ducting redirects to flow air across the temples
  • DDL-4 exhaust vent to the 10mm wider eye port (5mm on each side)
  • Long Oval Fit
  • SAI MAX-Vision Brow Vent shield
  • Clear Pinlock Max-Vision Brow Vent Pinlock lens included
  • Elongated shell adds 5mm from front to back
  • Long-oval shape helps prevent hot spots
  • Multi-density single piece EPS liner
  • Removable, replaceable, washable interior
  • Dry-Cool surface material for rapid displacement of heat and moisture away from your head and into the ventilation airflow for added comfort while riding and a quick dry between rides
  • 5mm peel-away temple pads adds another level of customization, giving the helmet interior a little extra width when needed
  • Enhanced for customizable micro fitment interior without the need to purchase extra interior components
  • FCS (Facial Contour Support) cheek pad design
  • Innovative and exclusive spring support adds just the right amount of pressure when needed while being worn
  • Snell M2015 and DOT

D-ring strap too short
When you try this helmet on [preferably at a fitting dealer who stocks all shapes and sizes] be conscious of where the D-ring is when you cinch up the strap. Since there is some padding for it I didn't notice initially how the D-ring was being levered against my jawbone. After two 250 mile rides I became PAINFULLY aware of this. The helmet was of no use to me if this couldn't be fixed. To their credit, Arai customer service said they could install a 1 inch longer strap for $30 so I spent $15 sending it to them and after a month [they had to order the strap from Japan] I got it back and it will now be usable but this should never have been necessary. All other helmets I've looked at have longer D-ring straps that place the D-ring under the chin, not riding on the jawbone.

Amazing Helmet with Small Issues
Bought this in diamond white to replace the rf-1100 that I crashed in. Love the look of the diamond white, it really pops, and the overall look of the helmet has really grown on me. It is definitely lighter than my old shoei and the vents are much more functional. I like that they put scoops over the holes so they actually catch air and direct it into the helmet. It also fits a lot better which I guess goes to show I should have gotten an arai a long time ago. If you're looking at shoei vs arai, note that among many differences is the fact that they are made to fit different head shapes. I highly recommend going to try some on before purchasing.

The visor really had me frustrated at first because its not as easy to remove as the shoei was but after watching the video on how to remove and install it, and with a lot of practice, I've gotten the hang of it. I do like the way it detents into the open position and it seems to be a more solid design than the shoei, although I'm not sure I like that the mechanism is hidden. The pinlock insert is great because it will not fog but it also makes everything look a bit funny when it catches the light. I was excited about it but ended up not using it for that reason.

The liner is more comfortable but the cheekpads are a pain to take in and out. I also haven't quite figured out how to install my sena smh10r without causing the cheekpads to be pushed further into my face making it pretty uncomfortable. There isn't an earhole like in the shoei and with the speaker between the shell and cheekpad the pads are pushed out, eliminating the little space where my glasses usually sit so nicely.

The chin strap has no padding on the part that goes under your chin and gets uncomfortable after awhile.

Overall I'm really happy with this helmet. The lighter weight really makes a huge difference over the course of a long ride and the vents flow a good amount of air. Put some padding on the chin strap and add an ear cutout in the cheekpad and you've got a no contest over shoei.

No Surprises from Arai
Purchased this helmet for my wife. She has had several 'starter' level helmets but with the purchase of her new Ducati Scrambler it was time to move up to something of higher quality.

The quality of components and their fit and finish is consistent with other Arai helmets that I have owned. She is very happy with the fit of the shell, how easy it is to clean the inside, and how quiet is is compared to her previous helmets. She also said she experiences less buffeting and the vents work great!

First class fit and finish
This was my second helmet in less than two years. My first, an Arai Vector-2, just never fit right. Had problems with one side only. Many cheek pads later plus cutting away material by my left ear, I decided I have a longer oval head shape and needed the Signet-Q. The material inside is better and fit is excellent. I did notice that I seem to have more noise with this helmet than my previous two helmets. I have yet to take a longer ride than two hours at a time so I don't quite know how I will feel after 8 hours. Good ventilation from all the openings. Mounted my Sena without any issues. I have yet to try this helmet in real summer heat. There is a new helmet glue type smell. Hopefully this will go away over time.

All you would want in a helmet and more!!
I have to say that this helmet is by FAR the best fitting helmet I have ever had. I was leary, due to the fact I havent been able to find a helmet that would not rub on my forehead. This helmet works!! I road 800 miles on my first trip and didnt even feel the burn Im use to having on my knoggin! The vents for airflow are amazing. Vents like no other helmet I have had in the last 40 years. Your video on this helmet explains this helmet well and your cutomer service dept was very helpful. Thanks again for everything! Ed

Only brand that fits well
This is the second one of these helmets I've purchased. I have a long head front to back, and the extra length of this helmet is the only thing out there that I can wear without creating pressure points on the top of my forehead. Changing out visors is a bit trickier than other brands, and it is one of the more expensive helmets out there, but worth it for the fit. Would definitely recommend this product if you've been having problems with a pressure point on the forehead.

Great Helmet Fit
I've had a lot of trouble getting a helmet to fit. My previous HJC was far too round; I would always get an awful pressure point at the top of my forehead after only about 30 minutes of riding. After about an hour, I had to stop and take the helmet off for a while. Not great for an adventure-touring rider.

I first tried the Shoei RF-1100. Unfortunately it too gave me a pressure point in the same place. It took more like an hour, but it was still there. Thankfully, the Revzilla team is amazing about returns and on the phone, they advised me to try the Signet-Q instead.

Thank god I did. No more pressure points, even after two hours continuous use. Amazing airflow, and I love the extendable chin spoiler. The included pinlock shield is a nice touch.

All in all, a great new helmet. For those of us with "long oval" head shapes, it's worth the price. It has a five year warranty so the total cost per year isn't as bad as it seems.

Comfortable and quality, but need to replace lame pinlock shield.
Expensive but great helmet for the long oval heads. Finally a helmet that doesn't create a hot spot in the forehead region after 10 minutes of riding. I like everything about the helmet except for the pinlock shield. I wish it came with a standard quality shield. The pinlock shield doesn't work well and with or without the insert there's always vision distortion around the edges of the shield messing with peripheral vision. Once I dump the pinlock and replace it with a decent shield the helmet will be just right.

Narrow fit? Look no further!
I had tried on countless helmets- but all created a bad pressure point on my forehead. I had the chance to compare this to a Shoei X12. I was recommended to the x12 because its a narrower fit in the Shoei line. But I still had a pretty bad pressure point at the front of my head.

I finally went for this Arai and it really is made out of great materials- something is read about many times over. I think the only helmet brand that exceeds the interior materials is Schuberth ($$$$)

Now the first one I ordered was a medium. And I should technically have been fairly well into the size range for it. But it seemed loose to me. I'd seen a video online with this really great Arai tech fitting a guy and he demonstrated what a great fit Arai is if you ignore the labeling and shoot a little smaller than you think you need.

I called RevzillA and they were awesome. They said for someone with a truly narrow head id probably want the snaller one- but i wouldnt know until i could try it on. I received a small to try on and compare it to the medium and it fit SO much better. The eye port is now situated back further so my peripheral vision is enhanced too. In fact it's so perfectly snug I can kiss the chin bar. This seemed worrisome at first until I realized the helmet is unlikely to crush there and because it fits so well my chin has little chance of contacting it via a sloppy overall fit.

I ride a SPORT-tourer (emphasis on SPORT-Honda VFR800). I find this helmet really does prefer a little more forward lean to get the most circulation. That may be simply a function of the negative air pressure at the back of the helmet being situated more at the bottom/opening when tilted forward, but thought I should mention it.

That said, it vents well! I've yet to bother installing the fog shield as it does have a slide feature in the closure tab that keeps an 1/8" vent around the shield/helmet gasket. This is in addition to the brow vents which I especially like. Cool air hitting your face and eyes is important for alertness- and it also reduces build up of oil/sweat on the back of my eyeglasses. Speaking of which they slide on/off no problem.

As for detaching the face shield- shoei is much easier but I'm already used to the Arai. Once you understand how it works it really only takes a few seconds. I still cringe a little fearing breaking the plastic levers but so far it's been totally fine and I've had the helmet 6 months and removed the shield at least 6x. I believe rebuild kits are available as well.

I LOVE ARAI HELMETS FOR THEIR GREAT FIT
roadking666 on Apr 19, 2016
After years, and I mean years, of wearing helmets from every top manufacturer, I happened to be in Philly and decided to visit the Revzilla store. I was glad I did. The salesman was one of the most knowledgeable riders I ever met. He explained to me why I was never satisfied with the fit of all my other helmets. He furthermore showed me that in the Signet-Q I was actually a large, and not an extra-large, which is always the size helmet I purchased. He was 100% right, and I will only wear a Sig-Q

I bought this helmet quite some time ago and have found it to be the best helmet I have ever owned. A very comfortable fit for anyone needing a long oval shape. I wished they made half-helmets as well.

I owned an Arai Vector helmet and I liked the quality and features. But the fit was never quite right. I gave me a hotspot on my forehead after a few hours of riding. After researching the shell shapes of various brands I decided to try the Signet . After removing the extra internal padding it was a perfect fit. Definitely the most comfortable helmet I have owned. The quality is excellent as is the finish. I'm really pleased with the choice.

Come to find out I have a longer oval head. Spoke to a gear geek asking about a sore forehead from my intermediate oval Scorpion exo-1100. I'm a returning rider and I loved my Aria back when I rode so ultimately I knew I wanted another Arai.
Tony S on May 5, 2015
The (somewhat) oval shape fits my wife's head much better than other brands

Perfect for my head shape.

After trying on a dozen helmets, this one fit me the best and it remains comfortable through long rides. I am confident in its ability to protect me.

I have a long egg-shaped head and this is the only helmet that fits perfectly. I LOVE IT!!!!!
Jay B on Apr 18, 2015
Tried on some helmets at a local bike shop. They all hurt my forehead. I finally tried on the salesperson's personal large Signet-Q helmet and it fit perfect. I guess I have a long oval head.
Profversys on Apr 17, 2015
Best fitting helmet for me. Have to wait and see how Revzilla performs as this is my first purchase from them.

Replacing Arai Profile. Love that helmet, but it's overdue for replacement (7 years).
Steven M on Feb 24, 2015
I am looking for a helmet that doesn't burn my forehead after an hour and am hoping that the Signet-Q is the answer. Plus Arai has a reputation for making one of the best helmets in the industry.

Arai is the best and I have a long oval head.

I have read the reviews on the signet Q pertaining to adding speakers. Some say there is room for speakers with no specific speaker pocket & some say it has speaker pockets. I just want to make sure I can install my Speakers that are included with a HD Ultra & they are not pushing on my ears?
A shopper on Feb 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I bought a Signet Q last year and have installed a bluetooth headset with speakers (Cardo Q3 system). My helmet does not have speaker pockets, but it does have an indentation where your ears go (I guess all helmets have this). The speakers for my headset came with velcro backing so they would stick to the inside of my helmet. There is plenty of space in the helmet for this. At first I even added extra backing to the speakers to make sure they pressed directly against my ears, but later removed the extra backing. The trick is to get the speakers attached RIGHT next to your ears. You need to play around with it a little, but once you've got the right spot it works great. Good luck. --Tom
My head size is a 56.5 should i get the small or the medium ?
A shopper on Mar 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: My head measures 59 cm and I have a large. I got the extra padding for the cheeks and it now it fits really well. I have a narrow face but long forehead front-to-back. The medium was a little snug across the forehead for me. I hope this helps. I think it depends on the shape of your head as well as the measurement. If it doesn't feel comfortable, save all the wrapping and don't remove the stickers. RevZilla is good about accepting exchanges if you return it the way it arrived!
In the video review, Anthony states that the fit of the Signet=Q is 5mm longer than the Profile, but Arai's website makes this comparison with the RX-Q instead. Also I have heard from other sources that the Signet-Q has more of an intermediate oval fit despite that Arai calls it long oval. Is this true?
A shopper on Jan 31, 2012
BEST ANSWER: The Signet is 5mm longer than the Profile. I tried on every model of Arai possible, and here are my thoughts. The RX-Q I felt an immediate pressure front and back of my head. The Corsair I could not get on, it was very round. The profile was comfortable, but still had a little of the front back pressure. The Signet, however, fit dead on off the shelf. The weird part is, since it doesn't crush your head, it almost feels loose. The Signet is definitely long oval.

Super quiet compared to my EXO-700. No boom from the air stacks, if I had to complain about anything it would be that my glasses fog up and since there is no direct eye blasting of air like most other helmets, I may need to contact it up or figure something out. This was only an issue at stops for more than 30 seconds on a 38* day too, so factor that in.

The pinlock insert works very well, does not fog even with direct breath trying to make it fog (just remember to pull the protective layer off the inseert or you will be pulling your shield off again ;)

Maybe I will just do a review heh
Trying to choose between the arai signet q and the schuberth s2. Can anyone help with which they would recommend?
A shopper on Sep 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I've never worn a Schuberth although I trust the journalistic sources I read that say they are a technologically advanced helmet. I would say despite some brands pushing technology more than others you can't deny Arai is a high quality product and that of the more high end brands helmet choice still comes down to fit and compatibility the most important factors in delivering function, longevity, and in the end safety as well. I would say choose which one fits your head the best first, then of that particular brand (of the higher end brands) worry about general aesthetics and technology second.
Is there a shaded visor available for this product?
Bruce B C on Mar 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes. This helmet is equipped with the Pinlock visor system, which is a separate insert that fits inside the visor and prevents the inside of the visor from fogging. You can purchase visor inserts in various colors including both light and dark gray, as well as some other colors. I personally use a light gray insert. Hope this helps!

..as above. is the black frost color a matte/nonreflective finish, or does it have a normal clearcoat on it? the pearl black is obviously a standard gloss black helmet but that black frost looks pretty sexy. until you get bugs on it. so im having second thoughts, for all the obvious reasons. anyone got some input who knows for sure?
A shopper on Jan 27, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The Black Frost colorways is definitely not a traditional clearcoat finish. If anything, it's more of a Satin/Eggshell finish. Not Flat. Not Matte. Not quite Semi-Gloss, and definitely not Gloss.

It would probably take the paint department at your local home improvement store a solid 3 hours to try and replicate the Frost finish.

And always remember, Bugs can be sexy....if you're into that sorta thing.
