Arai Signet-Q Helmet - Solid Colors

The Signet-Q takes all the favorite features of the RX-Q and create a whole new series based on all the successes. On the outside, the Arai Signet-Q Helmet looks very similar to it's namesake, the RX-Q, but on the inside you can see and feel the difference. A longer shell shape on the Arai Signet-Q Helmet gives 5mm more space front to back allowing for a larger number of heads to fit comfortably. The shape of the Arai Signet-Q Helmet releases forehead pressures and eliminate hot spots for a more comfortable fit every time.  This shape works best for riders with a long oval headshape.

Additional Features of the Arai Signet-Q Helmet

  • Both the top vent set and side exhaust cowls are direct carryovers from the RX-Q
  • Brow vent ducting redirects to flow air across the temples
  • DDL-4 exhaust vent to the 10mm wider eye port (5mm on each side)
  • Long Oval Fit
  • SAI "MAX-Vision Brow Vent" shield
  • Clear Pin Lock Max-Vision Brow Vent face shield Included with the helmet
  • Elongated shell adds 5mm from front to back
  • Long-Oval shape helps prevent “Hot-Spot”
  • Multi-Density Single piece EPS liner
  • Removable, replaceable, washable interior
  • Dry-Cool Surface material for rapid displacement of heat and moisture away from your head and into the ventilation airflow for added comfort while riding and a quick dry between rides
  • 5mm peel-away temple pads adds another level of customization, giving the helmet interior a little extra width when needed
  • Enhanced for customizable micro fitment interior without the need to purchase extra interior components
  • New FCS (Facial Contour Support) cheek pad design
  • Innovative and exclusive spring support adds just the right amount of pressure when needed while being worn
  • Meets or exceeds Snell and D.O.T. standards

Don't get me wrong, I think the Signet-Q is a great helmet with wonderful features. I just must have the world's most odd shaped head that no helmet could ever fit perfectly. For the most part, it's comfortable and it's a million times better than my old HJC, but even this marvelous long oval helmet still begins to bug my forehead after a long ride. I couldn't go a size larger, then the rest of the helmet would be too big, so I just have to rub some anti-chafe stuff on my giant forehead and hope it will break in a little more over time.

I have a long oval head shape, and my head measures just a hair over 57 cm in circumference. That should put me in a medium, but the size small fits much better. (My head is such a long oval that I wish it was longer and narrower.)
If you have a long oval, then your circumference measurement is sort of deceptive. The width of my head must be fairly small, because there is far too much play side-to-side in any medium I've tried on. That includes Bell RS-1, Shoei RF-1100 and Icon Airframe.
The medium Arai Signet-Q has that extra width as well, presumably because it's a simply a stretched RX-Q. In order to get a good fit side-to-side I had to drop down to a small. In any other helmet this would create a terrible hot spot on my forehead. But the Signet-Q was nearly perfect.
Just something to consider. Gave it 4/5 because it's just a little overweight and overpriced. But it's the only game in town for long ovals.

Researched many helmets before this purchase and waited a month before this review was penned. The Scorpion EXO 700 it replaced was a solid value and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone on a budget or buy another for myself. I was sceptical that the jump in price for a premium helmet would be worth the price. Having admitted my reservations about the spend, here is my perception.
The Signet Q is like jumping from a Toyota to a Lexus. The features and refinements are appreciated more with every use. If you ride every day or for long periods, there will be little issue justifying this helmet. The attention to detail and purpose engineering become apparent through the variations in riding conditions. The noise level are higher than I would like but this is the only real negative.
My size was between a MD and a LG. The sales rep suggested down sizing to the MD and using the removable padding to customize the fit. This was an excellent recommendation athough none of the modifications were required. The helmet is great and my Sena SMH-10 fits into the helmet comfortably without any modification.
Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase though I was concerned the expense would only buy minimal improvements. The Scorpion is a great lid with no complaints. The Signet Q is simply that much better and worth the spend.

arai's just fit me well and i have been buying them ever since i got serious about riding, safety and comfort. i typically get a light smoke visor but decided to tryout the pin-lock system with a light smoke insert. my only pet-peeve is that the insert does not fit 100% of the viewable area and is a bit distracting at first. over time i have adjusted to the thin boarder which has better coverage than other pin-lock helmet brands i have seen. there is also a very slight optical distortion created by the 2 layer system but i think can be corrected by adjusting the insert. non of these issues would discourage me from buying the helmet again

the comfort level from the signet-q is amazing for long oval shape heads. the fitment is just like the profile but with more room with the entry point. no hot spots, comfort lining and cheekpads. the profile, i felt like it needed more time for the cheekpads to break in, but with the signet-q, it was comfortable from day one. wider face shield makes a difference while doing head checks and ventilation is pretty good with the brow vents. overall great quality for the money you put in. don't cheap out on a helmet!

This is my first "street" style helmet. I've been riding my vintage HD's with 3/4 helmets for a while now but just picked up a Dyna for daily commute and needed to get a good helmet. I have what is commonly referred to as a "big" head. I did the measurements the way Revzilla and Arai suggested and it recommended the Large. I thought this was crazy, I was sure I was an XL. I got the L instead and figured I could exchange it if needed. I got the helmet and it was tight so I removed the 5mm cheek pads and it fit perfect. Still snug, I took it for a 300mi round-trip to Big Sur. After about 20 miles at a stop for b-fast, I realized my lower neck/upper back was EXTREMELY sore. Honestly, I think my body wasn't ready for the helmet. I popped 2 aspirin and continued. I haven't had a problem since then. The helmet isn't heavy, I think my body was just used to the '70's 3/4 helmets. I've used the helmet daily for a month with the dark visor and I absolutely LOVE this helmet. This helmet is longer front/back than the Profile and fits my large melon just perfect. Trust your measurements and go with what they suggest. I LOVE THIS HELMET!!!

I ordered this helmet to augment the modular one I already have. They tend to be heavier than standard full face helmets. The Arai fit better out of the box then any helmet I have put on in recent memory. Becuase of the shape I did not need to go one size larger on my already oversized noggin (as I have done with other brands) so I'm pleased about that as well. Fit and finish are excellent as is the interior comfort. Time will tell regarding durability. The reason why I ordered through this site is that there is an excellent return policy so I did not feel I would be "stuck" with a helmet I was not going to enjoy. Last time around I ordered two helmets in different sizes, tried them both on and returned one in the same condition it was sent to me in. Defintely recommend the Arai for people with larger heads or more prominent foreheads (mutants like me) and also this store for its fast shipping and customer service.

I've got a huge, narrow head. (Thanks mom and dad!) I have tried on countless helmets and none seemed to fit. Giving up on trying them on in the store, I turned to the internet for help. My research led me to this helmet (or the Arai Profile, which they don't appear to make anymore). After watching a video of the features on this site, I was sold. I followed the instructions on how to measure my fat head for size, and determined that I fell right between L and XL. I purchased the XL and it fits! I've been able to ride for hours with no discomfort.
My only complaint would be the pin-lock visor insert. It's a great feature, but installing that was...not the least frustrating thing I've ever done. The small screws that hold the insert in place are soft plastic, and it's a tight fit. Expect the screws to strip. I ended up having to use pliers to grab the screw and twist it into place. Once I got it in, though, it's been great! This is good, because I don't see it ever coming back out...
The visor provides very good field of view, is light and comfortable. Most importantly, it actually fits my "long oval" head.

I currently own an Arai Signet GTR, size Medium, purchased in 2003, along with a set of smaller replacement cheek pads. I am looking to purchase an Aria Signet Q. My head measurement is 23 inches, which falls between the Medium and Large measurements on the size chart. Any thoughts on which way I should go, M or L?

Answer:
If you do in fact have a long oval headshape, you should size down to a medium. If you do not have a long oval headshape, we recommend the RX-Q or Vector 2.

It's dependent upon your head shape; If you have a long oval headshape, you should size down to a medium. If you do not have a long oval headshape, we would recommend instead looking at the RX-Q or Vector 2.

In the video review, Anthony states that the fit of the Signet=Q is 5mm longer than the Profile, but Arai's website makes this comparison with the RX-Q instead. Also I have heard from other sources that the Signet-Q has more of an intermediate oval fit despite that Arai calls it long oval. Is this true?

Answer:
The Arai Signet-Q is considered a long oval as it is a replacement for the famous Profile. Arai states that the Signet-Q is 5mm longer front to back than its predecessor.

The Signet Q from my experience is indeed 5 mm longer than the RX-Q, however as stated in many reviews, this helmet is a step away from the extreme long oval of the profile and towards a more generic middle of the road fit. Don't get me wrong, this is definitely still a long oval shape, but it is not as extreme as the profiles long oval.

Likely if the profile fit you well this will work for you. I found that the profile fit my head better than the signet q and that I could feel some pressure on my forehead with the signet q, but not the profile.

Unless a new helmet comes out I will likely go with this as my next purchase (just bought a 2011 profile before they ran out!)

Answer:
The Signet is 5mm longer than the Profile. I tried on every model of Arai possible, and here are my thoughts. The RX-Q I felt an immediate pressure front and back of my head. The Corsair I could not get on, it was very round. The profile was comfortable, but still had a little of the front back pressure. The Signet, however, fit dead on off the shelf. The weird part is, since it doesn't crush your head, it almost feels loose. The Signet is definitely long oval.

Super quiet compared to my EXO-700. No boom from the air stacks, if I had to complain about anything it would be that my glasses fog up and since there is no direct eye blasting of air like most other helmets, I may need to contact it up or figure something out. This was only an issue at stops for more than 30 seconds on a 38* day too, so factor that in.

The pinlock insert works very well, does not fog even with direct breath trying to make it fog (just remember to pull the protective layer off the inseert or you will be pulling your shield off again ;)

Maybe I will just do a review heh

I have been wearing Shoei large size helmets for the last few years. The Multitec feels too big and the standard full face Large Shoei feels just right. What size Signet would fit? Large or Meduim?

Answer:
I was wearing XL Shoei and had excessive forehead pressure. Sides had room, though. Based on Arai helmet sizing, my size was on upper end of Large, but not quite XL. I ordered Signet Q in Large. It felt snug but more comfortable than the Shoei. (The difference between long oval and round oval.) I am pleased with the Large size Signet, though I ended up removing the 5mm peel offs from temple and sides. I suggest going down a size IF your sizing is between one size and another. I measured my head per Arai instructions several times. Do not order until you have done this.

Yes, there is a cutout for slim-line speakers. Cardo or Sena should fit without a problem.

Unless I overlooked something in the new Signet-Q color offerings, I do not see a high visibility Yellow. Please tell ARAI to include hi-viz yellow as a standard solid color for ALL their helmets, thanks.

Unfortunately, not yet. We expect Arai to include High-Viz in 2012 for the Signet, but no official word yet.

Answer:
I also wanted yellow, but after I wore the signet around the Revzilla showroom long enough I knew the comfort level was to great to pass up this helmet waiting for Yellow so I went with Diamond White.

White is right up there on the list of viability colors along with yellow.

I was just fitted at a local store for a Profile. Then they told me it was going to be discontinued and replaced with the Signet Q. Will the fit be the same or will I need to start over again? Also, can you tell me what size pads come in a medium. I was fitted with 25mm and it was perfect. Can you specify different size pads when ordering? Thanks!

The fit is 5mm longer (if not, it sure feels like it) than the Profile. The Medium comes with 30mm pads which have the 5mm tear aways.

Answer:
I was ready to buy the profile until I tried the Signet Q. The Signet Q feels like it has more room in front of my mouth and nose then the profile. No more hitting my nose on the rubber flap below the visor :)

Not sure about the pad sizes, but the Signet does have a removable pad system you can take a piece out to make the helmet fit better. I have not had my liner out yet, but I understand it is a (5mm?) pad you can remove one time. take it out and you can't put it back in.
also keep in mind the padding will "relax" in a short while and helmet will seem to loosen up.
