Arai Defiant Pro-Cruise Helmet
You Get What You Pay For!
I've owned Arai helmets for over 20 years.
When I found Revzilla, I thought I'd try to find a comparable helmet to Arai for less money. Also, I was curious about other brands.
This is the 3rd helmet I purchased from Revzilla in 6 months!
I bought 1) Shark Speed-R; 2) Bell Bullitt; 3) Arai Defiant Pro-Cruise.
I've ridden with all three helmets now what have I learned after spending over $1450 in helmets in just 6 months? I will only buy Arai Helmets for the rest of my life!
While the Shark has a nifty drop down sun-visor, and it's shape fit me fine, the interior padding does not feel all encompassing like Arais. The venting also doesn't work very well. I do like the 3mm main visor and that it comes with a pinlock lens. The Shark suit me fine but the cheek pads never did break in and the inside corners would press against my sinus cavities causing discomfort. I tried different cheek pads and it only changed the way the helmet fit on my face.
The Bell Bullitt seemed great. Nice retro-styling and the interior is advertised as "super premium". Wrong. It feels crunchy, thin, and cheap inside. The material is abrasive and rough. The helmet is also more of a "long oval" fit, while I'm more of a "round neutral" head. I would've loved to return it but alas I took it for a test ride and Revzilla does not accept helmets that have been ridden with for returns. Sure I could've lied but that would've made me a schmuck! Luckily enough, Revzilla was kind enough to give me a token of appreciation in the form of Zilla dollars and turns out, my wife's head fits in the Bell just fine! Yay!
This helmet is everything Arai is. Light, safe, super comfortable, and has a few new gadgets like the external sun-visor.
Very superlative used to describe Arai Helmets is TRUE! I've learned the very expensive, time consuming, hard way! If you find a helmet that fits well and you enjoy riding in it, stick to it! For me, Arai Helmets are worth EVERY PENNY and I will never stray again. The interior is actually super plush and feels great. The venting is what I remember with my old helmets, you can really feel the air flowing!
My ONLY grip was covered by Anthony in the video. The lower corners of the sun-visor, when down, are cut a little high. It would've been really nice if the sun-visor covered the entire shield or was cut just a 1/4" longer in the corners!
With this helmet I also purchased a Sena SMH10R Bluetooth kit. Though easy to install, in theory, it took me a while because I wanted to get everything in just right. Great combo btw!

Best Helmet I own
I have several helmets in my closet: Shoei RF1000, RF1100 and a J-Cruise. I also have a Bell Rogue and an RS-1. Mostly I use the J-Cruise as it is my favorite helmet lately.
I've been riding for over a decade and have had many different type of bikes from nakeds to sport bikes and now a Harley. Obviously different bikes lend themselves to different patterns of air flowing over them.
What I like most about this helmet is how it works perfectly for bikes without fairings or windscreens. On my Harley I dont have a windscreen. Obviously, when you reach certain speeds the air just wallops you and your helmet goes anywhere it wants. This helmet seems unaffected by any air coming at it. So much so, that on one of my first rides with it, there was a considerable gust of wind coming from my side while on the highway. My bike kept getting pushed over with each gust but my helmet never swayed one bit. I also noticed being able to go faster without feeling like my helmet was getting pushed back. This was a situation where I thought I was going fast but realized I was going about 10-15mph faster than I normally would have at that point but didnt feel like I was.
The airflow is just amazing like I just said. I knew this helmet was designed for bikes with more of an upright seating position but never realized how much a difference it could make. The other great thing about this helmet is how much airflow inside the helmet it allows. It really feels like a fan is sitting inside the helmet blowing on your face and over your head. This brings to one caveat though, its either a decent amount of airflow or none at all. I cant recommend this helmet for cold weather riding as it does feel like a freezer inside. If you close all the vents then it gets very stuffy.
The other caveat because of all the venting is there is a slight ability to get more wind noise inside the helmet. I wear earplugs so its not much of a concern but its a bit more noticeable than my other full face helmets. For me its a fair tradeoff.
The visor on this works great. It closes with a confident click and locks into position. The shaded visor on top really works well when flipped down however there might be some times when you can see the lower part of it. When flipped up though it has no effect on airflow over the helmet and clicks positively out of the way.
Ultimately, I really like the design of this helmet, Everything was done with all types of riding in mind. The fit and finish is absolutely top notch. I even accidentally dropped the helmet on my first ride and cracked the rear air vent cover. I got that easily replaced through Arai and installed it in a couple minutes. I really like that features like this are on the helmet.
I can only recommend this helmet with full confidence. This is my favorite helmet now and I hope others discover it for themselves.

So glad I went with the Defiant
I had a difficult time deciding between the Signet and Defiant. I was just at the end of the 5-7 year life with my Quantum 2.
RevZilla Staff: A+++ I'm impressed with their passion and product knowledge. They pushed me in the Defiant direction after chatting about my riding style.
Helmet: Noise is about the same as all my Arai's. I always wear earplugs so not really an issue with me. P.S. Earplugs safe your hearing later in life. I work in and around helicopters all day and ride a motorcycle daily. I need my hearing.
The pin-lock system is outstanding.
Pro-Shield- Have to get use to it, as it' s a little awkward at first since you have light below. That said it's nice to have a that shade on the outside. I have found the inside helmet shades to be poor quality. I hope the transition pin-lock comes out soon as i want to pare the both of them together as I ride into the sun on my morning commute.
Venting- Best I have ever had. I kept the vents closed for about an hour in 60 degree weather. Opened them up and WOW... had to close them because my head was getting cold.
I attached a Sena communicator on it in about 6 minutes. Pockets work perfect for the speakers.
Now I have only put about 200 miles on this helmet so I will make an update if needed in a few thousand miles.....

This product is very comfortable
So far the 2 times I used it this helmet meets all my expectation. It's comfortable, light weight and it looks good compare to my Hjc-16. This helmet is perfect for a upright position motorcycle. I ride the 2015 Yamaha FZ-07.
