Nice bag, horrible zippers I really wanted to like this backpack. So much in fact that I've purchased two of them. I originally bought the red version. I liked that I could fit quite a bit in it, it was lightweight, pretty comfortable, and the bottle holders, but the adjustable chest strap would frequently come loose from the shoulder strap and both zippers for the main compartment failed after a couple months. (Not at the same time.) I tried to make it work awhile longer (zipping it slowly would usually get the teeth to catch enough for it to stay closed), but had an off while wearing the backpack that put the final nail in the coffin. I then purchased the green one back in March (six months ago). I have to say I prefer the colour of that one even though it has fewer accents then the red. About three months in, the first zipper came completely off the track in the main compartment. Keep in mind I don't usually stuff my backpack so I don't think it was caused by excessive strain. I just use it every day as a commuter. A month or two later, the second zipper stopped functioning. It takes multiple attempts at zipping the bag for the teeth to line up and actually zip. It's a huge pain and at this price point, I think this bag should have sturdier zippers. It makes me hesitant to shell out for another AStars bag in the future. September 21, 2015
Great backpack but overpriced So just received this backpack and have been using it for commuting to college. So pro's: lightweight, looks great, very comfortable, stays in place, rain cover, strap management ( this is major if you have ever had to deal with straps beating you down the road), reflective, can hold clothing on bottom, easy to find anything inside of it, expandable, name brand. Con's: overpriced ( in my humble opinion), takes a long time to deploy rain cover, no helmet holder, small, lack of features. But overall Not a bad backpack I love it and don't like it in the same breath it's good in some instances bad in others. But for my needs it works just hope I don't need to carry anything large. Awesome product! The bag fits very well and is the perfect size for me to avoid over packing. I bought it before a 750 mile each way road trip and it was very comfortable the entire way. August 17, 2015
Worth the price. I couldn't bring myself to buy a $150-$200 backpack, so opted for the Roving backpack. I like the fact that it has the side, mesh pouches on the outside of the bag which are perfect for water bottles or anything else you need quick access to. The fit and finish seems to be on par with what I would accept for a bag in this price range. I've only had the bag for a few weeks, but so far I'm happy with my purchase. May 26, 2015
Great backpack for everyday use!! This backpack is very comfortable and very light weight. The material has a somewhat plastic-y feel which I was not expecting but should keep things dry if caught off guard in the rain without the waterproof cover. It is also thin enough that the bottom does not sag if it's not stuffed full any of my other backpacks have in the past. The chest strap is adjustable but also features a nice elastic section which keeps it comfortable when you're actuve. The shoulder straps are also shaped in a way that prevents them from rubbing your neck or helmet while riding. Overall I have to say that this was a very well thought out design, and has proven to be one of my favorite backpacks. For size reference: height 6'4" Medium build (225lbs) May 11, 2015
Great bag, thought it was a bit bigger I wear this bag about 90% of the time I ride because of my commute to school and work. I love everything about the look, as well as how it fits. My only wish is that there was a little more give with the space. I realize it is only an 18-liter bag but for longer trips it feels like I need to really play with how I arrange things. Amazing comfort in the shoulder straps, and the lumbar/chest straps offer great support when riding with all those textbooks.. Nice product. March 23, 2015
Love the bag, but it fell apart I love this bag. But the first one I bought had seams, at the straps, that were just falling apart after 6 months. A* replaced it for me, and after about 7 months, the zipper separates. So, unfortunately, I can't recommend it. March 1, 2015
Looks good and functional Laptop cargo area is great. Really like the waist clip and chest clip when riding. Does not bother when riding. Great vending on back. February 23, 2015

A s: Planning to use this for commuting when on the MV Rivale. I haven't found a tail bag I like that will hold my laptop, so going with the backpack approach, didn't need anything fancy, just enough to hold my laptop and some odds and ends. Sep 28, 2015

Bryan S: I wanted a waterproof backpack with fair enough space to commute and go on short rides. This item has been great so far and i've been using it for about 3 months. Plenty of space for spare change of clothe even shoes, the down side is that their is only one main compartment and the small pocket once it's filled, it buldges inward onto the main pocket but thats something you can go around. Allen R asked: Reflective material? Hi, does this bag got some reflective material? On the web picture, it has some 4 silver patches, not sure if they are reflective for night riding?

Mar 11, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Chuck L: Yes, the 4 patched you see are retro-reflective. That means they reflect light back towards the source. Those are the only pieces with reflective material though. The rest of the bag is very dark at night. Mar 11, 2015

Jose D asked: if I would put two full size text books, school supplies ,basic rain coat and pants would that stretch the bag to its full capacity or would there still be in case extra things can still be stored? Kinda want to use this bag for school but i don't want to be caught in the rain. Jan 19, 2015

James G: Hi Jose, This is a pretty small bag, I don't think you will fit all that you are describing. I can barely pack my gym clothes, along with a pair of sneakers inside. It is a nice bag, but overpriced in my opinion. Good luck.

Tyler S: This baby is TINY. You would not even be able to fit what's listed above in there. while I love this bag, it is a struggle to even put my riding jacket in there on a hot day. Feb 3, 2015

Andrew H: That will pretty much max it out, it won't be TOO much for it, but you won't be adding much else besides a laptop maybe. Feb 3, 2015

Morgan B: Jose, that would definitely reach the maximum of this pack. You might be better off with the Krieg 20 Feb 3, 2015

Lindsay A asked: Is the inside fairly large? I'm looking at this bag for my boyfriend who would be using it to ride to work and would need to carry his construction boots in. Aug 21, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Jeremy D: Hey could fit his boots in there but probably not anything else unless he can ball up a t-shirt Aug 21, 2014
Reply to Jeremy Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
Brian B: construction boots may be tough - i can fit a 15" laptop in mine - a small lunch and sneakers - but hightop boots or sneakers would be close to impossible.

If he's just putting boots in there - they may fit - this is a small pack though - Kriega and Ogio offer bigger volume bags you may want to consider.
Aug 21, 2014

james b: Hey Lindsay,
The bag is large enough to fit construction boots. Having said that though you wouldn't be able to fit much else once the boots are in.
Hope this help

Arun U asked: How big is the Laptop pouch on this bag? I have a 17 inch gaming laptop. Will it fit? Aug 7, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Brian B: i had a clunky dell 15.4" for work - this fit without a lot of room to spare in it. Aug 21, 2014
Reply to Brian Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
Samantha V: Honestly I don't think it will fit. From inside the laptop sleeve to the top of the bag is about 17". The width of the bag goes from about 11.5" to a little over 10" at the very top. You could possibly get it to fit if you really tried, but it would be a struggle getting the bag to zip closed. Aug 9, 2014
Reply to Samantha Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Samantha V: I will have to measure the backpack. I use a smaller laptop and it fits fine. It is 17in diagonal? I will get back to you when I measure it Aug 7, 2014
Reply to Samantha Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Arun U: Hi Samantha,

the exact dimentions of the laptop taken from manufacturer site is 16.46” (L) x 10.61” (W) x 1.54” (H) Aug 9, 2014
Brian H: I have a 13 Inch MacBook Pro and there is a lot of room left when that is in there. I am pretty sure a 17 in laptop would fit. Aug 7, 2014

Evan F asked: How water resistant is the bag? If I'm carrying a laptop any water could be bad news. I see in the video is has a rain fly, but if it starts to rain am I going it need to pull over and out it on, or is the bag water resistant anyway? Jul 14, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
james b: Mate I'm yet to ride in the rain, but I would say your would need to pull over and cover with rain fly. The material itself is waterproof but I think you would have a problem with zip, water could seep through.
Hope this helps

Yendis B: I have yet to ride with it in the rain. However, the texture of the bag feels as though you would be fine for a short period of time. The bag is solid, I like it alot. Jul 15, 2014

A shopper asked: Does anyone know if I could fit a spare visor in this bag? May 22, 2015

Andrew H: Most definitely, although I suppose it really depends on how much other stuff you have packed in there. May 22, 2015

Marc S: You shouldn't have any problem fitting a visor in it. It's reasonably spacious. May 22, 2015

A shopper asked: is one of the shoulder straps detachable so putting the pack on over a jacket is not as difficult? Nov 12, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kevin C: It's not detachable but it can be loosened up quite a bit. I have an Alpinestars Atem jacket and I just adjust one should strap all the way out to put the bag on and then sinch it up after I put it on. Nov 12, 2013
Reply to Kevin Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
jamieson h: No the straps are attached. That's one of two negatives to this bag. Other is it needs to be a little bit bigger. Other than that it's a great bag I wear to work all the time Nov 12, 2013
Reply to jamieson Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Maxx L: No, but you can easily adjust the straps to make them large enough to easily put over a jacket. Nov 12, 2013
Reply to Maxx Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
A shopper asked: In the previous question you stated it does not have the option to carry a helmet? but in the product info it says "built in helmet and jacket carrier? which is correct? thank you Oct 1, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
JEFFREY G: Its not really designed for a helmet. You could use one of the straps to hook it through a helmet but it seems like it is designed for a jacket. The helmet would dangle from the bottom if you chose to attach it to the back. Oct 1, 2013
Reply to JEFFREY Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Yendis B: At the bottom of the bag it has straps to connect other items. You could roll and attach a jacket no problem, but not a helmet. Oct 2, 2013
Reply to Yendis Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
A shopper asked: is the helmet carrier just that dongle thing or does it have a cover? Mar 24, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
PandaSlapCat: The helmet just dangles, the pack is just under being big enough to carry a full-size helmet inside. Jun 1, 2013
Reply to PandaSlapCat Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The "dongle thingy" keeps the rain cover in place. It does not have the option to carry your helmet. Mar 27, 2013
