Nice bag, horrible zippers
I really wanted to like this backpack. So much in fact that I've purchased two of them. I originally bought the red version. I liked that I could fit quite a bit in it, it was lightweight, pretty comfortable, and the bottle holders, but the adjustable chest strap would frequently come loose from the shoulder strap and both zippers for the main compartment failed after a couple months. (Not at the same time.) I tried to make it work awhile longer (zipping it slowly would usually get the teeth to catch enough for it to stay closed), but had an off while wearing the backpack that put the final nail in the coffin.

I then purchased the green one back in March (six months ago). I have to say I prefer the colour of that one even though it has fewer accents then the red. About three months in, the first zipper came completely off the track in the main compartment. Keep in mind I don't usually stuff my backpack so I don't think it was caused by excessive strain. I just use it every day as a commuter. A month or two later, the second zipper stopped functioning. It takes multiple attempts at zipping the bag for the teeth to line up and actually zip.

It's a huge pain and at this price point, I think this bag should have sturdier zippers. It makes me hesitant to shell out for another AStars bag in the future.

Simple, solid backpack for a solid price.
Great backpack for sport riders who don't need to carry much.

My only complaint is the pack could be a little more comfortable (though maybe I'm just terrible at adjusting straps). Shoulder straps dig into my shoulder armor a little bit creating a sore spot even with both horizontal straps in place. I feel like the shoulder straps don't stay at their adjusted length sometimes, but nothing major. The material is a little thin, but that's to be expected a) at this price, and b) to save weight. Really glad a rain cover is included at this price (just in case). Good storage for such a thin bag, nice laptop pocket with a velcro strap so it's good for commuting to work/school (though the velcro strap is so long it doesn't feel like it's doing anything to hold the laptop in place).

If you want to get a bag to carry a few things around without feeling overburdened by a giant monstrosity but don't want to spend an arm and a leg, this is the way to go. Plus you get to show everyone that you're an Alpinestars snob even when your jacket is covered.

Great Backpack
Snagged it on sale, Great product.

Lots of compartments, Rather thin for a backpack tho. I wear a windbreaker jacket in the morning ride to work. On the way home stuffing it in this backpack leaves basically zero room for anything else...

Heh still happy with purchase tho.

SIde note. Alot of the straps like the chest and stomach clips have alot of extra slack once fitted. you have to get fancy with securing that excess or it slaps you in the chest endlessly during your ride.

Great bag for to and from work.
I'm only 5'3" and 115 lbs so I was worried this bag would be too big, but it's not at all. With all of the adjustable straps the bag fits nice and secure. It has plenty of room to fit what I use on a daily basis for to and from work which typically is only a change of shoes and lunch but, you could easily get a laptop and a few other things as well with no issues. Only negative I noticed is that It does have a tendency to get hot on your back after long periods of riding. I would definitely recommend this bag!

Great riding pack
Bought this backpack mainly to commute with before I bought side bags. I put gym shoes and my uniform in it. Occasionally I put my laptop which is a 15 inch ultrabook. I have also discovered how to carry an extra helmet on the back of it by using the side clips.

Great backpack but overpriced
So just received this backpack and have been using it for commuting to college. So pro's: lightweight, looks great, very comfortable, stays in place, rain cover, strap management ( this is major if you have ever had to deal with straps beating you down the road), reflective, can hold clothing on bottom, easy to find anything inside of it, expandable, name brand. Con's: overpriced ( in my humble opinion), takes a long time to deploy rain cover, no helmet holder, small, lack of features. But overall Not a bad backpack I love it and don't like it in the same breath it's good in some instances bad in others. But for my needs it works just hope I don't need to carry anything large.

Great riding bag
This bag, although not big on space, looks great and does the job. If all you're carrying is a laptop or some books it's great.
I can fit a squishable pair of sneakers, shirt shorts and lunch into this bag, but that's about it. Small for a commuter, but gets the job done. Think it's worth it for the price. Looks awesome.

Planning to use this for commuting when on the MV Rivale. I haven't found a tail bag I like that will hold my laptop, so going with the backpack approach, didn't need anything fancy, just enough to hold my laptop and some odds and ends.

I wanted a waterproof backpack with fair enough space to commute and go on short rides. This item has been great so far and i've been using it for about 3 months. Plenty of space for spare change of clothe even shoes, the down side is that their is only one main compartment and the small pocket once it's filled, it buldges inward onto the main pocket but thats something you can go around.

This is a great backpack with no frills attached that is just big enough for my daily needs (laptop, books, etc.). I was tired of big bulky bags that had way more than I needed, and this fit the bill.

How water resistant is the bag? If I'm carrying a laptop any water could be bad news. I see in the video is has a rain fly, but if it starts to rain am I going it need to pull over and out it on, or is the bag water resistant anyway?
Evan F on Jul 14, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Mate I'm yet to ride in the rain, but I would say your would need to pull over and cover with rain fly. The material itself is waterproof but I think you would have a problem with zip, water could seep through.
Hope this helps
Reflective material? Hi, does this bag got some reflective material? On the web picture, it has some 4 silver patches, not sure if they are reflective for night riding?

Thanks
Allen R on Mar 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the 4 patched you see are retro-reflective. That means they reflect light back towards the source. Those are the only pieces with reflective material though. The rest of the bag is very dark at night.
if I would put two full size text books, school supplies ,basic rain coat and pants would that stretch the bag to its full capacity or would there still be in case extra things can still be stored? Kinda want to use this bag for school but i don't want to be caught in the rain.
Jose D on Jan 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi Jose, This is a pretty small bag, I don't think you will fit all that you are describing. I can barely pack my gym clothes, along with a pair of sneakers inside. It is a nice bag, but overpriced in my opinion. Good luck.
Jim
Is the inside fairly large? I'm looking at this bag for my boyfriend who would be using it to ride to work and would need to carry his construction boots in.
Lindsay A on Aug 21, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hey could fit his boots in there but probably not anything else unless he can ball up a t-shirt
How big is the Laptop pouch on this bag? I have a 17 inch gaming laptop. Will it fit?
Arun U on Aug 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: i had a clunky dell 15.4" for work - this fit without a lot of room to spare in it.
Does anyone know if I could fit a spare visor in this bag?
A shopper on May 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Most definitely, although I suppose it really depends on how much other stuff you have packed in there.
is one of the shoulder straps detachable so putting the pack on over a jacket is not as difficult?
A shopper on Nov 12, 2013
BEST ANSWER: It's not detachable but it can be loosened up quite a bit. I have an Alpinestars Atem jacket and I just adjust one should strap all the way out to put the bag on and then sinch it up after I put it on.
In the previous question you stated it does not have the option to carry a helmet? but in the product info it says "built in helmet and jacket carrier? which is correct? thank you
A shopper on Oct 1, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Its not really designed for a helmet. You could use one of the straps to hook it through a helmet but it seems like it is designed for a jacket. The helmet would dangle from the bottom if you chose to attach it to the back.
is the helmet carrier just that dongle thing or does it have a cover?
A shopper on Mar 24, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The helmet just dangles, the pack is just under being big enough to carry a full-size helmet inside.
