Alpinestars Tech Aero Backpack
Shoddy quality, comes apart easily.
Alpinestars really screwed the pooch on this one. I usually buy all Alpinestars gear for quality but this backpack is anything but. The concept behind the backpack is great, it looks nice, it has plenty of space (modular). After 1 year of light use the straps are starting to fray in a major way. The zippers have all come apart, unable to zip it up anymore. Alpinestars should really recall this product and refund customers that bought this thing.

I got this bag as a gift and have loved it ever since. It's incredibly aerodynamic, stylish, and the size is perfect. I love being able to expand and collapse it as needed. The straps on the waist are great as well as the chest. I know some hate that, as well as the fact that the waist one isn't removable, but I love them. Plus, the pockets on the waist strap are perfect for keys, ids, etc without having to take the whole bag off.
Also, the rain cover is super nice in case of rain emergencies, and the helmet carrying system is fantastic., I haven't used it out yet, but I know when I do it is easy to use after testing it when I first got the bag.
I can fit a lot in this bag even before expanded. Change or two of clothes, shoes, flip flops, belts, etc, and even more once expanded.
I know a lot of people write negatively about the durability, but I have not had the same experience. I can say that I don't use the pockets inside nearly as often as others, but the use that I have had has been great. Everything is fine and nothing is coming undone/apart.
The carve out on the back for air works wonderfully. That combined with the chest/waist straps makes this bag super comfortable. I honestly forget I'm wearing it, even at high speeds.
I also love the fact that you can insert a back protector into this bag as an upgrade option.
Honestly, I can't say anything about this bag. It does exactly what I want and then some.
Also, Revzilla is wonderful to work with and incredibly fast. They will also talk to you for however long to answer any and all product/riding questions you might have like I did.
Highly recommend them and this product.

Zippers are complete garbage and fall apart after 2 years
I bought this two years ago to use for my college bag and for riding. It was great for awhile and really enjoyed alot of the features. After about a year I started to notice on the turns some tension on the zippers and over time they failed. I ended up sewing both sides up to the corners and just zipped straight across. Everything else is great and wish that was something they would fix

Bought this bag about 2 months ago and it's kind of falling apart. Inside there is a laptop sleeve with a Velcro strap and the square of material that has the Velcro is falling apart. The stitching has come off of 3 of the 4 sides. I might expect this kind of wear after a few years of constant use but I haven't even used that pouch. There are also some mesh pouches where the mesh is coming apart at the seams and again I haven't really used those pouches. The stitching is coming out of the seams at the base of the pack now too. Overall, great size and design, I loved the way it looked. Horrible quality. I'm a daily rider and I need a pack that can do the daily ride. After 2 months, spending $180 this bag is a huge disappointment. I've never purchased any Alpinestars products before and if this is the quality I get I'm going to be looking past this brand for any other products. Now I have to get back to shopping for a new pack.

Worse than the last generation
I bought my first in 2012 primarily due to the quick release buckle. That pack was ok but the zipper blew out after 3 years. Just bought a new one and it does NOT have the quick release buckle. Also, the zipper pulls are small so they have rubber attachments to make grabbing them easier, except one of them one missing and they look like they would come off real easily. Too much money for poor quality bag. Took it back to local store.

Really disappointed with the redesign
To start off I'm a huge Alpinestars fan boy. I have used my generation 1 Tech Aero backpack 4 years and it has been wonderful. It has over 50,000 miles and its just now starting to have problems. I couldn't be more happy with a backpack. So this year Alpinestars decided to redesign the tech aero. They remove the front ID pocket and the overall finish is just not what it used to be. I bought this backpack in hopes of replacing my old, worn out gen1 and within one week I took it back because it didn't live up to the Alpinestars name. It's cheaply made and I feel they removed a lot of functionality out of it. overall I'm very disappointed. I'll always be an Alpinestars fanboy but guys you really need to step up the game. Please bring back the front ID pocket and the other stuff that was taken away

No issues so far
The reason I got this backpack was because when I'm in my tucked position, the backpack does not push against my helmet behind my neck. All the other backpacks that I have tried kept pushing on my helmet and was super uncomfortable.
The only thing I don't like about this is the small front pocket at the top, I tend to use that the most for small things, and it's small.... I wish there was perhaps another pocket? But this is minimal complaint.
I haven't had any issues of where the helmet straps fell off, though I do think about it every time I use it to strap my helmet. I use this backpack for when I have class.
This backpack has done me well. You can unzip the back and it will hold a lot of things when you need it. :) One thing about this is that when you un buckle the hip straps, they start banging on everything if it's not buckled in, otherwise, I still like it very much!
