Stlyish Product, good fit shipping from revzila was a bit late.but the product is good. January 13, 2015
Great Product! The order was accurate, delivered quickly, and the picture does not do it justice. I ordered the size 52 (I am 5'10" and 180 lbs.), and like others have said, it was a little snug, but it still felt great. I cannot give "Protection and Durability" a '5', because I have yet to be in an accident, but the padding feels like it would easily hold up. All other features of the jacket are wonderful as well. If you're looking for an over-the-top stylish, but efficient product with a medium-->small budget (there are some jackets I reviewed that were 2x-3x the cost), I would at the very minimum consider this product. awesome jacket Got a great deal on this jacket as a close out, absolutely love it. Used the online size chart and it fits spot on as it should. And arrived crazy fast to Aus, thanks Revzilla December 27, 2014
Crash tested on racetrack – bad results It is hard for me to write this kind of review as I was Alpinestars fan forever (I have A* boots, pants, several gloves and I was always satisfied with Alpinestars products), but this may save somebody from possible injuries. I had this jacket for 1 year, riding year-round; I rode ~18k street miles in it and completed 10 track days (with matching Alpinestars GP Plus leather pants and gloves). I wore size 48 and that was a snug fit, which broke-in after some time. Jacket is very comfortable (and stylish); was feeling like second skin. Perforation is a plus – never had any thoughts about taking this jacket off even during the hottest days. During last track day I got into an accident in high-speed corner after the main straight. I was going into the corner at around 70 mph, when I got rear-ended by another guy who was doing ~110 mph (he was riding recklessly and lost control of his bike). I was first sliding on my butt, then started rolling on the pavement and then rolling in the runoff. Long story short, I ended up with my shoulder (humerus) fractured in several places, had to do the surgery and now have a steel plate with 12 screws in my shoulder for the rest of my life. The important part is this: shoulder protectors in this jacket are located in pockets of inner mesh material; protectors are not fixed to the outer leather layer, you can easily move them around in those mesh pockets when the jacket is off. If you put on the jacket it becomes harder to move shoulder protectors around in those pockets, but it is still possible if you push from the right angle – from the front or the back of the jacket. And that’s what happened in my case – when rolling on the pavement there was an impact from the front of the shoulder that shifted protector to the back of the pocket uncovering my shoulder for subsequent hits from the pavement and injuries. When I was looking over my jacket after the crash, I found shoulder protector for broken shoulder way in the back of the jacket (somewhere over the top part of shoulder blade). I believe that if shoulder protector was fixed to the outer leather it would stay in place and wouldn't shift and that would possibly save me from having broken bones. If I had to choose again, I would pick a jacket with protectors fixed to outer leather layer (looks like some competitors have jackets with co-injected shoulders). October 2, 2014
This product was was well worth the price paid.... I liked the style and cut of this product. Air flow was great! If you're sitting for a few minutes in the sun, it gets quite hot, but jumping back on the bike takes care of that. A little difficult to get into, but fits nicely once everything is adjusted and zipped up. The protection is ridiculous, plenty of armor if I went down, plus upgradeable for more aggressive riding. Overall, this jacket is great! I would recommend it to others. D September 22, 2014
Great jacket Been riding in this with temps 90+ & all is good. Of course you'll bake while stopped but once moving air flow is good. 5'11, 195,(with a gut) - 54 fits fine with a t shirt. May want to up a size if you plan on layering. August 26, 2014
For athletic built men I'm 5'7 150 pounds n size 40 USA and it fit perfect. Rode with it on 40 degree n 85 degree weather and kept me warm n cool. For below 40 u need a heated vest n for above 85 u need some type of cooling t shirt. I get I lot of complements on the looks. So far it has been an awesome jacket. May 12, 2014
Preferred it over the JAWS Alpinestars I was stuck between this and the perforated JAWS Alpinestars jacket, so I had ordered both to try out in person. I'm 5'11", sometimes 6' if I go to the right mini-mart, 175lbs with a normal athletic build and ordered a Euro 50. The JAWS didn't sit right on my shoulders, the GP Plus did. The JAWS was a bit looser in the tummy, and it did not have side cinches to tighten the waist up. The GP Plus had a good 'slim' fit and also has side cinches. After a month with the GP Plus, I'm pretty happy. My left arm elbow pad does float out of it's position when I have the jacket off. It's a 2 second fix when throwing on the jacket though. I did notice a yellowing around the collar of my white GP Plus when it first came to me. A quick call to Revzilla confirmed it's a manufacturing 'defect' from where the leather and interior lining meet at the collar. They promised it would wash off with leather soap and it did. Riding with it has been great. I bought the extra internal Alpinestars pads and I always forget they are even in the jacket. Air flows very well through it, and it overall I'm happy I kept the GP Plus over the JAWS. April 24, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Quintin R: This is my second A-Star jacket and I love it. They do seem to run a size small. I saw it on sale and couldn't pass it up. Make sure you upgrade the back protector and you'll be good to go.

I've rode in 90+ degree weather in this jacket, with no problems. The air flow is great.

Tim S: Because it is a full leather jacket, perforated for summer riding (hopefully won't get too hot) and to zip on to Alpinestars GP Plus Leather Pants for track days May 28, 2014

Allison H: Style, protection, airflow. Nov 15, 2013

A shopper asked: what size of the Alpinestars Bio Armor Back Protector should I buy for the A* GP Plus Leather Jacket size 48? I want to know how deep the pocket is on the jacket? since I am planning to buy both together I want to get the right size of the protector! Thanks Feb 2, 2014

Jun P: I use a medium back protector(fits perfect) and the front pockets are about 7-8 inches from the deepest corner to the opening, enough to fit my hands, phone etc in. Hope this helps! Feb 2, 2014

Tim S: I also use a medium bio armor back protector for Euro Size 48 jacket (I should've read Jun P's answer before I tried and returned a small back protector ;p) Jun 14, 2014

A shopper asked: Have a 38 in. chest, but I'm 72 in tall... would the 48 work or should I go up? Have a pretty lean build. Sep 25, 2014

Elan H: Not 100% sure. I would try and go to a local shop ad get fitted for one then buy here, thats what I did. The fit for me is tight/snug but im short and stocky. Oct 7, 2014

Chris L: I'm 5'10 230lbs and normally wear XXL shirts. This jacket in size 50 fits me nicely, so if you're lean, I'd guess a 48 would fit fine. Oct 7, 2014

A shopper asked: What are the differences between this jacket and the GP-R? Sep 18, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The most striking difference between the GP-Plus and the GP-R is that one is titled "Plus" and the other, "R." The other differences are a little more subtle. Other than styling, the arms on the GP-R tend to fit more snug than on the GP-Plus giving it a slightly more aggressive feel. Sep 19, 2012

Axel: I don't know all the differences, but key thing for GPR is it works really well in warm weather riding, because it has a lot of perforation in the front as well as the back. Oct 20, 2012

Harrison H asked: How much difference between this jacket and GP Pro leather jacket in summer - like hot sunny day 85F? I feel super hot when wear my GP Pro. My shirt is all wet after couple hours of street riding.

My A Start GP Pro leather jacket is in US42 EU52 and in snug fit. Should I choose same size for this jacket? 52 from the drop down list?

David A: I have the GP-R perf jacket and its much cooler while moving than full leather. The perf definitely works. I'm in Australia where its riding weather all year round. Its warm for 7 months and hot for 3 months in summer. I still use my vented textile for the summer months thou. Dec 23, 2014

A S asked: My elbow protector is sliding away from my elbow. It looks like it came loose at some point. How can I take apart the jacket and adjust the elbow protection? Jan 29, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Daniel T: The elbow pad seem to float into the pocket somewhat, mine did the same and I would just put the jacket on and push them into place moving the cushion from my wrist area back to my elbow Feb 2, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi
Im roughly 163cms tall just wondering if you guys would stock any smaller then 48?
Nov 22, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Justin N: These jackets do tend to fit a bit short when fitted correctly; remember they can be connected to suitable riding pants. So, if we're talking 48 euro size (approx 38" chest) then it won't be extremely long on someone with your height. Maybe a 46 would be a better fit, but I'm 5'9" and my 50 was still JUST long enough. However, eveyone's dimensions and proportions are different so nothing beats trying one on... Nov 25, 2013

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Russell T: I'm 6'2" with long arms and weight close to 240lbs. Its a little tight in the gut for me so it should fit you much better. The length on the arms is perfect for me. Hope this helps.-russ Sep 17, 2013
