Great protection BUT....
I've used this "jacket" for about 3 years now and we have a love/hate relationship. Things I love: protection. This thing is a beast. I put it on and feel like I can go to war. Have crashed in it countless times and it's always saved my bacon, which is the overall/main point. Things I hate: the fit. I suggest a size larger than normal. I'm 6'2", 185lbs and wear an extra large in just about everything, including this thing. Fits great in the pits/staging area, but once you put a few miles in the kidney belt starts riding up. Things I love: style. I can wear this without a jersey and it looks cool. Things I hate: breathability. Even when I do leave the jersey at home, you still have to wear a shirt underneath or it will chaff. I go to a moisture-wicking long-sleeve workout shirt by Nike or Underarmor, and the kidney belt velcro chaffs the shirt instead, ruining it for any other use other than riding (your workout shirt is now your riding shirt.) Things I love: materials. Plastic/padded elbow/shoulder/chest/back is durable and works. Things I hate: materials. Tying it all together is some elastic/meshy material that grabs tree branches pretty easy, so careful if you go jerseyless. If you do get snagged, you're going to tear the material, and it's pretty easy to do so, which is why I pretty much never go jerseyless if there will be trees involved.
I would recommend this only if you needed something heavy duty or were new to the sport like I am and crash a lot. Seriously, it's like suiting up for a football game. But with that protection comes the price in poor ventilation, and weight. And the riding up of the kidney belt is annoying, but it still provides midsection support.

Not as bulky as I expected
I'm a 6' 187 lbs, regular build, guy. Arms a bit longer than average for my height.
Fit is OK, I bought a Large, and highly doubt I could squeeze into a Medium. The reason that I say the fit is only 'OK' is due the armor being a little bit loose. Even tho there are tightening-straps, they're still a bit too loose for my taste. However, having a hoodie or the like with a snug fit over the armor solves that problem.

The best jacket for quick trips!!! A+++
Can be better if for extra money yo can add something to secure neck also, it's really a bang for the buck, I love it.

You get what you pay for..
This is a little more expensive than similar options, but it is worth the extra dollars. The protection is great. The BNS system is a fantastic added bonus. This will fit a wide variety of body types, so you don't have to be too picky with the sizing. The kidney straps act as a corset, and can really squeeze you tight if that is what you prefer. My favorite feature is the removable sleeves. Just two zippers and this becomes a short sleeve shirt. It leaves your elbows and forearms expose, but it's great for those super hot Florida days. My only complaints are the wide neck opening. it feels like a stretched out t-shirt, so i wish the neck opening was a little smaller, but it doesn't effect anything other than feel and appearance. There are some internal seams that are a bit rough and can sometimes feel a little itchy on the bare skin. Very minimal complaints...

I am 6´4" / 200 pounds and usually wear 2XL in REVIT jackets. For that reason ordered the Alpinestars BNS Bionic Jacket size 2XL. I am happy because it fits really snug and a smaller size would have been too tight.
I feel protected and as it is very flexible I can move my shoulders and elbows with no restrictions. Great item for the adventure/off road driver.
I also use the alpinestar bionic neck support and it is great to know that the jacket was designed to use with the neck brace. Good Joob Apinestars!!!
