Tight fight, poor ventilation. It's a very snug fit as the previous reviewers have stated. The chest and back protectors are solid and do not allow air to pass through the vest very well; on hot days your chest and back will get HOT. Aside from that, can't really complain. It does it's job. Protection feels good (haven't tested), and it looks good. August 6, 2014
Not very good. I have Alpinestar's Bionic 2 jacket. Wanted to "upgrade" to this as it looked a bit less bulky in the shoulders and supposedly better impact protection. First things first, it fits very snug, especially at the arms, as previous reviewer has mentioned. The padding on the chest is very thick and stiff as a board. From technical description it is suppose to mold to rider's body, but mine never did. It just stayed very stiff, and was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. Back, elbows and shoulder protectors were very nice and very comfortable though. This jacket is also a bit harder to get into, compared to Bionic 2. Sleeves at the forearms as you can see are made out of straps of material, instead of being one continuous sleeve as it is with Bionic 2. It might provide a bit more air flow (I doubt its noticeable compared to Bionic, as its all very open mesh as well) but getting into those sleeves is a hassle. The material bunches and twists as you put your arms through it, and then you have to fix and adjust it. With the fact that its pretty snug, the donning of this jacket becomes a major pita. I also missed a belt around my belly. This jacket has kidney strap adjustments, but front is all mesh except for the chest pieces. Without any sort of a belt, the jacket kept riding up on my chest in a sitting position. Another flaw are those lace snaps on the forearms. It has a system with two small plastic hooks on the laces, for quick and easy lacing if you have thinner arms and want to secure elbow pads even more. Unfortunately those plastic hooks are pretty fragile, and I snapped one in the first five minutes of putting the jacket on. For a part that is supposed to be used over and over again, and which is going to be stressed, it is a very bad design with current materials. I can not recommend this jacket based on all of the above. There are better products out there. April 8, 2014
Sleek Armour I was looking for armour for my daily commute to and fro work as my textile jacket would keep me too hot at times. This armour is sleek and fits snug, just what I was looking for. I am 190lbs athletic build and I went with a size 52. The forearms in particular fit me very snug, so much so I have to release the red strings to get it on easier (but I'm sure it will stretch a bit over time). I love the added benefit of being able to remove the sleeves. The top part of the back protector is also removable, I assume to provide additional venting. All in all I love this armour. RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Margaret G: because I wanted too!! Is that ok with you??" Apr 29, 2015
Andres P: Vented, motocross fit with CE-rated armor for those road sections to and from the trails. Nov 17, 2014
frederic b: Summer weather can be hot. This seems versatile enough with the removable sleeves. Cannot wait to try Jun 8, 2014
Tittha P: I needed something that has lots of perforation for those hot summer and CE approve if I go down... This has the most perforation and is CE approved. New England summers are hot and humid hear... I already have a jacket that is good for the other seasons, but not summer. This is perfect for summer; can't stand "squids" riding unprotected... ^_^ They don't know until you go down. Jun 5, 2014
Luis R: 1st because I need a ventilated jacket for summer and 2nd this jacket looks stylish and has the protection needed. I will probably leave more comments once I receive it, hoping I'll be happy with my choice. Feb 25, 2014
Mark L: Super light and skin tight. Could easily forget I had this on under my jacket. I bought this, as well as the Dainese Wave Pro. While this doesn't provide the same level of protection as the Dainese, it's much more comfortable and much easier to put on and take off. The reason for this is the Dainese chest protector is one solid piece like a baseball catcher. The Alpinestars is split with a zipper down the middle.Easy as putting on a hoodie. Dec 23, 2013
A shopper asked: And also what specific levels of CE ratings have been achieved with the shoulders, elbows and back protector? Astars have been very cadgey in the past regarding CE ratings especially on the bionic for BNS Sep 5, 2013

A shopper asked: I'm debating between getting this or the Leatt 5.5 body protector with their corresponding neck brace.

Does anyone here have experience with both? Recommendations either way?

I ride mostly in the California dirt and sand and am looking for an upgrade to a new protector + integration with neck brace combo.

Tittha P: I prefer the Alphinestar Bionic Tech Jacket over the Leatt 5.5. My reasons are as follows:

1. It has a YKK zipper in the front which is great to unzip for a few minutes to cool down, or let your gut relax for a little while (after a slice of pizza or something). The jacket is much easier to take on and off because of this zipper.

2. The strap on the stomach found on the Leatt 5.5 and alot of other jackets is a nuisance, even for me- 6.0 slim built.

3. The collar and the rest of the material is not cheaply made; very well made unlike many China products that you can find on Ebay...

4. Unlike the Leatt 5.5, the CE shoulder armor fits more to the contour of your body; don't notice too much because of the great fit!

Overall, great purchase; I highly recommend it! I purchased this to for my summer riding gear on my 03 gsxr1000 so I can ride safe and ride hard!^_^

Mark L: I can't offer any insight on the Leatt you mentioned but the Alpinestars Bionic Tech is incredible. Very light and comfortable. At times , I literally forgot that I had it on. If I had one complaint , and it's a minor one , I would have liked for them to elongate the back protector a bit to give some tailbone coverage. Had they done that , they would likely have had to compromise comfort. I really appreciated the zipper right up the center. I purchased the Dainese equivalent at the same time and the chest protector on that is one solid plate rather than the split design used by Alpinestars. Dainese went followed Alpinestars' lead in the next model year and went with that same split design. Easy on and off , super light , comfortable , and if memory serves me I believe Alpinestars has CE 2 certification. Feb 10, 2015

Andres P: Hi there, although the quality of construction on the Alpinestars Bionic Tech Jacket is great, as is the protection, I would probably go with something with a slimmer profile if I had to do it again. The chest and back armor on the Alpinestars is quite bulky so it makes for an awkward fit with neck brace and backpack - on me at least (190 lbs. muscular build). In addition, although the sizing chart suggested a Large for me, it is too tight in the chest. If the Leatt jacket is designed to fit with the Leatt brace, that sounds like it will have a greater chance for fitting jacket and brace together properly. Feb 10, 2015
