Its not comfortable The quality is good but the design is not nice and its too long from down also from up is too tight July 6, 2015
Waterproof, great air flow, need hip protectors I'm 5'4" and 128 lbs. Ordered a size small, and it is a little on the long side. A little baggy. I wish they made a slim version of this. These pants have kept my legs waterproof! Takes a while to dry, but that goes with every waterproof pants. The bad things about these pants are that it only has pockets on the left side and not on the right side. Who knows, maybe there are no right side pockets to prevent riders from using their throttle hand to reach for the pocket. I definitely recommend buying the hip CE Armors. I can't imagine the soft foam pads saving my hips much at all. The knee/shin CE Armor is great. Air flow is great on the back side of the legs. I wish it had CE Armor compartments for the tail bone if such thing existed. I'd hate to land on that bone. Overall, great product. April 22, 2015
Alpinestars AST-1 WP Pants Background; used in Oregon heavy down pour and snow / ice / frost / sleet / transitional season weather. The pants are great, waterproof, fit is great if you follow the guides. I am a 35 waist @ 5ft 6in and I selected a XL so I could wear it over under layers. Waist adjustment is great. Leg pocket is great. I had trouble with the crotch zipper, it would become undone because it was not sewn in properly such that the bottom teeth could spread apart (remained water proof because of the gaiter protecting the opening). I had trouble with the leg zippers at the bottom of the legs. They would get caught on the water proof gaiter (remained water proof because of the gaiter protecting the opening). Just need to use it carefully. Not top of the line but gets the job done, some headaches but solvable with careful usage. November 9, 2014
Nice Pants The quality of the pants is good. The size is exactly as you show in the size table of the site. Maybe it’s a little long but it fits perfectly. I recommend the purchase of this product. I think that is the right one for using in cold weather because it hasn’t ventilation for using it in hot weather I have two things to object about the product, one of them is that it hasn’t ventilation and the other is that maybe it could have more pockets. Anyway I think that the product has an excellent relation price - quality March 20, 2014
These pants are NOT waterproof DO NOT BUY If you want some quality waterproof riding gear I recommmend that you look elsewhere. I only have a 10 mile commute, but the pants did not manage to keep me dry. Believe me it is no fun sitting at work in wet trousers due to the cr*p that is Alpinestars AST-1. Complete waste of money. Fit is snug I bought these pants for a waterproof alternative for dual sport riding. I am 6'2" and about 205#. I prefer pleated, relaxed pants to let the twins breathe. I bought the XL thinking it would be 36-38 and I could put a light layer underneath if needed. Wrong! These fit like a pair of dress pants with little room in the crotch/waist. Mind you, they fit. But they are not able to contain a layer underneath. Besides fit they are warm, waterproof, etc. I'd buy again but 2XL! November 25, 2013
Great all around pants! Purchased these to have some more protection and mainly to be warmer on cool days. The knee armor is in just the right place and they are baggy enough you can wear normal pants under it. I got a large and I wear a 31x32 pants size usually and they go on easily over my dress slacks I wear to work. They seem very durable, can't comment beyond that as I hope to never test them in a slide! Would like to see you to be able to tighten up the ankles a little more to get a better seal around boots, but really hardly any wind gets in there. In the colder temps (40-50) they are perfect, they keep you very warm. Have yet to test them in a rain, but I did get a little bit one day and they held up just fine and kept me dry. Great 3 Season Pants I've had these pants for about 3 months now. 3 day ride in the Washington Cascades with Touratech and several summer rides in North Georgia. No complaints about these pants with regard to fit, comfort and protection. I do wish they had just a few vents for the really hot days. Suppose that would compromise waterproofing. September 9, 2013

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
David D: I wanted simple WP pants for Pacific NW riding selected Alpinestars because I love their gear. Dec 21, 2014
Joshua K: Would like something more casual yet offered protection for myself while commuting. Oct 25, 2014
Patrick M: I have no riding pants and I needed something warmer for fall spring, (potentially winter, with thermals) figured why not water proof. Also, I am thinking about getting the gunner WP jacket for fall/spring.. I am excited. Oct 13, 2013
Michael R asked: I have two questions about these pants: 1) How would you rate these pants in temperatures exceeding 80 degrees? 2) Is the one and only pocket on these pants big enough to hold a wallet and a phone?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Nicolas L: Hi Michael! Respect the temperature, in my opinion a confortable use for pants is more or less until 83 degrees considering that you are driving the moto. If you also want to use it in a journey, walking for example, i think that 80 degrees or less it would be de limit temperature for using it. Because it has the waterproof membrane (not removable) and it hasn't ventilation at all.
Respect the pocket, you could use it for one of both thing because when you are in driving potition the pants fits you more

Jonathan P: Honestly, I would not use this riding in temps exceeding 70 but this is great around 40-60. It is waterproof, giving you wind protection as well and is non-breathable. If you get hot easily then I do not recommend this. The pocket has sufficient space for an iPhone without those bulky cases or something similar, it also depends how big your wallet is really. But I would not put anything in there while riding, it tends to hug your lower extremities more when you're operating your bike. May 9, 2014

A shopper asked: In the video review, it's mentioned that the AST-1 WP Pants come in standard and short lengths. But the sizing options only show S-3XL and do not mention lengths. Was the video review wrong, or are you not carrying "short" length AST's yet? Sep 1, 2011

Chris K: Alpinestars does make these pants in the short sizes, however, the US distributor is unfortunately not bringing them into the states. Sorry for the disappointment! Sep 29, 2011

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: Dress pants themselves should be thin enough to fit underneath, however, be careful with having lots of things in your pockets like wallets, phones, or even a belt. Dec 6, 2012
