Klim Baja Pants 2010

Quite possibly the most durable fully-ventilated pant on the planet, the Baja Pant is able to protect the rider fully while allowing massive amounts of air to cool the rider, even in the hottest conditions. Flexible, articulated patterning and moisture-wicking fabrics ensure maximum comfort whether the ride is long or short. Ballistic nylon is placed in high-wear areas and leather panels line the inner leg to protect the leg from pipe heat.

Well-named Klim Gear Got the in-boot style Baja pants in the on-line clearance section at Revzilla. A true bargain given the quality and features. Fit Waist fit was my main concern - my 34 inch waist matches the 34 sent to me nicely. Inseam wasn't a problem - these are plenty long enough for my 36 inch length since they slide easily into my boots with the elastic bottoms holding tight but not so tight that they constrict around thick socks. The good This was my first experience with a Klim product. The heavy Cordura nylon used for most of the seat and leg has been tough and abrasion proof/resistant. Stitching is consistently good - heavy thread, double reinforced at stress points and in the crotch combined with quality mesh fabric has yielded no wear so far. I got these for hot weather and the ventilation doesn't disappoint. They aren't meant to wick per se but if you wear a thin thermal (wicking) layer they will take care of most any perspiration, especially if you spend time standing on the pegs. The good fit extends from seated to standing position. A nice touch are the leather panels sewn into the inside of both legs - these do double duty by adding grip and going easy on the paint work. The armor takes the form of thin foam hip pads and double thick knee nylon. It is well-integrated, flexible, and comfortable on and off the bike. A decent adjustable web belt and inside hangar loops and quality zippered slash hip pockets are nice touches as are the bits of Scotchlite applied around the front of the upper legs. I have ridden the Baja and these pants would fit both the climate and the riding conditions Not so good The waist is an unpadded nylon band, wide in the back tapering to narrow in the front. Without a tucked-in shirt or jersey, it tends to cut into my skin. A rounded edge or some padding might be just the thing. Were I to call these into heavier off-road service, I'd make the switch to better armor either as an add-in or in the form of another layer. Finally… …Klim on sale is the way to go; a great product with a reasonable price = motivation. February 16, 2014
Best pocket pant I would recommend that if you wear knee braces you watch the wear on the inner knee. Mine wore out in only 4-6 rides. Klim offered to replace but I had already sewn leather on the worn areas. Since then, I have leather sewn in the inner knees on all my new riding pants. January 5, 2014
nice riding pants Rode with them on a cool day, had no problem with getting cold. Pants were comfortable all day riding. Recommended for all riders, September 23, 2013
Awesome duds! These pants are just brilliant. The mesh construction is perfect for tropic climates (like Malaysia/Singapore) where it gets super hot. These pants keep you cool. I like the pockets, useful for stuffing some money into for fuel/drinks. Solid build. September 6, 2013
This product is perfect Best value perfect fit all around can not get better August 19, 2013
Great Pants These pants are made so well they will last me for several years. They are tough in material and take a tough beating yet are very comfortable to wear. August 9, 2013
Like air conditioning for your testes. Have not had to put them to the crash test yet but otherwise awesome. Lots of airflow and a true to size fit. All the quality and attention to detail that I have come to expect from Klim. July 15, 2013
Baja pant review. Summer cross country ride. I wore these pants for a ride from El Paso, TX to San Antonio, TX. Eight hour highway ride. Wore a pair of name brand synthetic boxer briefs under. Average temperature 95 degrees. Humididty between 10% (El Paso) to 90% (San Antonio). These pants performed as advertised! Stayed as cool as could be expected in the Texas heat. Never felt hot or sweaty. Great airflow! Highly recomend! July 8, 2013

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Michael M: First exposure to Klim was through a pair of gloves. They were of such high quality the pants had to be the same and they are of high quality and will last me many years giving good service. Jan 29, 2014
Jeff T: I have a pair already but my GF needed some protection for her rides. She tried mine on and loved the fit and the quality of the materials, so ordered a pair. These Klim products are the best! Jan 17, 2014
TIM S: love these. my pods wore out the inner knee leather pretty quickly, but nothing different to what i do to every other pare of pants ive had. Dec 18, 2013
Silvia Esther B: I ride the bike on the weekends, usually in the countryside, in the mud and sand, are very comfortable pants and jersey contrast, low klim pants allow rolling on asphalt as they are made with ballistic fabric providing safety on all terrains.
Very recommended and fresh. if the weather gets cold thermal breeches are used below and go.

Christopher M: Good price and I really like the Klim gear. The added bonus is the orange will match my KTM. Aug 14, 2013
Kasper S asked: I'm looking for a pair of in-the-boot pants from Klim for street use. Does any of the Klim models have knee protection? The hot weather features on the Baja model is neat, but im not sure sure if there's enough protection for the harsh asphalt. Aug 26, 2013

Michael M: These are not armored pants. The mesh panels are on top of the thighs above the knees. There is padding in the knees but it is soft padding not hard padding. There is definitely more protection in the knees than a pair of blue jeans with the material of the pants being much tougher than blue jeans. The seat and hips are reinforced also. Aug 28, 2013

Dicky B: I don;t think the lining is strong enough for protection on asphalt. you will have to consider knee guard under the pants. The pants are loose enough at the knee to accommodate those. I like the fact that they are well ventilated and have pockets on the thighs. Aug 26, 2013

Richard S: There is not enough protection for street use. I wore the Baja pants in July on a desert ride to the North rim of the Grand Canyon. They were very comfortable, but I still wore armor under them. Great for the dirt, not so much for asphalt. Just my opinion. Aug 26, 2013

Fbio S: Use these pants right in the heat of the trails here in Brazil, perfect ventilation, mandatory use of kneepads, but very durable, for use on road not recommend. Excellent product. Aug 26, 2013

Dougald M: There is some light padding around hips. Knees are broad MX style made to typically be worn with a hinged knee brace underneath the pants. Definitely not a street pant. Aug 26, 2013

Kevin F: They're durable but no CE armor or any armor for that matter - best summer pants ever though.... Aug 26, 2013

A shopper asked: I wonder if the pants have an area in where install protections?
or should I use with separate velcro knee pants
Aug 6, 2013

Chris KStaff: There are areas for removable hip protectors, but nothing in the knees. The Baja pants are designed to fit over top of stand-alone knee braces. Aug 7, 2013
