went on 1200 mile ride the week two of us got the Scala Q2s. works great and well worth the money. holds charge for a 10 hour day on the road. FM radio is worthless. bike-to-bike and telephone work great. sometimes takes several times to reestablish contact with another Scala upon powering up, even after successful pairing previously. all in all, works as advertised.

After a 3 day, 1100 mile test

Pros:
Great Value
Cons:
comfort

easy to set up and install. Still trying to find the best location for the headphones in my helmet that is comfortable. Needed to download updated Garmin Zumo 550 firmware to get it to work properly and reliably. Does not always "sync" up with the Garmin when powered on. Paired easily with two other riders/Scala headsets. Am concerned about battery life and inability to replace the battery on the unit.

Nice, useful product

Cons:
Flimsy

I had initially bought the BTS-300, which is more expensive. I returned it after finding out that it took it 2 seconds to go from standby to talk mode. When hooked up to my TomTom Rider I would essentially miss most of the directions. The Scala comes on practically instantaneously and is easily paired. I got the (for one headset, the pair comes with it) optional clip which accept a MP3 wired input. I paired my bluetooth phone with the TomTom which in turn relays it to the Scala. This works great. The Scala's speaker are small enough to fit into my standard helmet (no speaker cups necessary). I have not yet tested rider to rider but the specs are better than the BTS-300. The Scala would not pair with my Insignia MP3 player in bluetooth mode as it uses the new A2DP protocol. The wired connection is ok for me as it is controlled by the sound hierachy, i.e. directions from the GPS will turn the music off, phone and TomTom are prioritized as well. I always have a tiny bit of a problem of exactly positioning the right speaker directly over my ear. I couldn't use the velcro on that side as it got stuck in my hair once (I have long hair) and it was a pain to pick it out of it. The speakers are left inside the helmet and are easily installed. The charge lasts a long time due to the fancy battery technology. Even with the music cranked up I have yet to have it run out on me. Charge time is very reasonable. M primary reason to get the Scala was the combination of TomTom and Scala Aand that works very well.

Love this thing!

I've had this for about a year and am still very happy with it. Volume is easy to adjust on the fly. BF says it sounds better than my normal BT earpiece I use in the car. Unit is showing some wear in the rubber coating, probably from my gloves. My only real problem is I keep losing the windsock on the mic. Communication is impossible without it.

Great product!!

Comfortable, Fashionable, and Rugged

Best comm system I've used. I have used hard wired and can't tell any diff. I have 2 helmets with bases on each and all I switch is module.

I wish stereo speaker short wire was longer due to limits speaker location(cheek; on modular helmet).

I put a hair-tie around boom mic shaft then around chin strap to secure incase clamp or adhesive fails(hasn't for 2 yrs but better off safe then sorry).

Great product. Description on site is wrong

By Blake From Grand Blanc, MI on March 19, 2009

Pros:
Comfortable, Great Value, Rugged, and Fashionable
Cons:
Comments:

Like the description says, I love it. My headset I just received did include the newer base unit which has the mp3 cable to hook up and the extra long boom, so site description was partly wrong.

I've paired this with my phone and can make and receive calls and no one even knows I'm on a bike. They say there is slight wind noise on the freeway, but they said its less than if you were outside talking on your cell phone on a windy day. Does not interfere with clarity of speech either. I ride a sportbike so no windshield protection and lots of helmet noise and still no problem. Only thing I wish this could do which they might do in their next series is more buddies to sync with since you are limited to 2. Then also add conference calls so everyone can hear you in your group and not just one rider. Other than that, very satisfied on purchase, well worth the money.

bta II allows more!!!!

By Timmy N. From DOWNERS GROVE, IL on March 16, 2009

Fits true to size
Pros:
Comfortable, Fashionable, Great Value, and Rugged
Cons:
Comments:

omg this thing owns set the ear pieces lil forward of the ear and ur sweet. I've had conversations/ radio/ music at over 90mph no problem hearing both sides. getting the bta II adapter allows ability to pair to that first then pair my phone at the same time. but can stream what ever to the bta II n bluetooth to the helmet. this product really works well. it is a dream no more wires and clarity unmatched without ear pain. But main point for this post. if you get this get the bta II adapter. the adapter opens a world of oppertunity. i personaly bta II my psp my Ipod my phone's music and someho can pair phone then pair the bta II n have the ability to listen to the adapter till phone call comes in then have to reset the pairing but omg it works exactly as I needed. With the ipod to the bta II its like having a remote for the helmet. most of the time i can pair either the phone or the bluetooth.like a choose one, but if i pair my phone then turn off the bluetooth on the phone and pair the bta II it works really sweet. allowing music till call comes in. If your looking for real adaptability get this product now

only problem i see at all is their is no way that i have found to get quick silence, have to hold button for few sec to go all quiet but the volume does go low enough to have a conversation with someone while sound in the hellmet still. but no emergency all stop that i can see. but for he capability who cares buy this product will be more than happy!!!!!!
