The TURBINE pants are a must-have for the rider looking for a premium protective and waterproof mesh pant.

The detachable 3-layer membrane shields you from wind and water, but still offers full breathability. High-quality fabrics, including Superfabric, make the trousers as abrasion-resistant as possible. Great Pants, Very well made,

I orderd the 54 tall and they fit great.
I tried the 2XL Tall Cayanne Pant that was too small in the waist
3XL Sand Pant that was too big in the waist and too short in the inseam
Revzilla is the best online store I have found. They are always happy to get your order right.

Great for Summer Riding

By Scott F. on June 28, 2010
Sizing:
Fits true to size
Pros:
Comfortable and Fashionable
Cons:
Comments:

Does a good job keeping air flowing to your legs without feeling sticky, even in mid-to-high 80s weather. Wish they came with a slightly smaller inseam, but the kneepads cover my knees while in tucked position and the bottom part tucks into my boots.

Knee armor feels very secure and the the workmanship and quality of the pants is readily apparent when you try them on.

Fairing scratchers

Comments:

I was excited about getting these pants. They were my first pair of motorcycle pants and I paid a bundle for them. However, they are a disaster on fairings. I ride a sport-touring bike and now have to spend hundreds of dollars replacing fairings, because the material that covers the knee armor is like sand-paper to plastic fairings. At first, I thought it must be something wrong with my bike, because I couldn't imagine that supposedly high-end specialty motorcycle pants would damage a motorcycle. So I went to two dealers - who both told me they had never seen that happen before. I have been thinking of upgrading my bike and so I went to the Honda dealer to see if it was a positioning issue with my bike (Kawi Ninja 650R). I explained what had happened with my fairings and showed the dealership's owner my bike. He was quite surprised. I put the pants on and sat on a showroom CBR 600 to see if the body position or fairing layout differences would matter. When I got up we realized that the pants had already scratched both the fairings on the new CBR! He was furious! It took him a few minutes to settle down and I thought he was going to kick me out the store! He said burn those pants on don't sit on anymore bikes! He said that they are a disaster, because he saw for himself that all I did was sit on the bike and the damage occurred. So these pants cost him $150 x 2 fairings, and me $322 x 2 fairings (I'll discount one, becuase it has previous damage) - not to mention the cost of buying them in the first place and now shipping them back.

What a disaster! On top of that, I bought the Sirocco jacket and now have no pants. The irony is that what I really needed and still need are riding pants! I ended up buying the jacket and boots to go with or accommodate these pants. I'm very disappointed.

Turbine Pants

By Randall on June 01, 2010
Sizing:
Fits true to size
Pros:
Comfortable, Fashionable, and Rugged
Cons:
Expensive
Comments:

Make sure to know your size. After measuring myself I was in between a 50 and 52. I went with 52. I am 6 foot even and weight 185-190 lbs. Somewhat athletic build. These pants cost an arm and a leg, but they are worth every penny. The fit is spot on. Not too tight, not too loose. The knee pads line up perfectly with no adjusting. You can feel the quality as soon as you touch them. They'll definitely hold up in a accident at highway speeds. I rode with them in temperatures up to 90F. No motorcycle pants will be as cool as jeans but these are damn close. The air flow is wonderful. I was stunned the first time I rode in them. These are for hot weather only. I avoid the rain so I can't speak of the waterproof liner. Overall I'm very happy and highly recommend them. Revzilla also has great customer service, and had them shipped to my NYC address in 1 day. Ordered them on Thursday, arrived on Friday, for free. You can't beat these pants for the heat, and Revzilla you can't beat for the service.

Lower Temp Limit, Sizing and Features

By Paul W. on March 30, 2010
Sizing:
Fits true to size
Pros:
Comfortable, Sizing Chart Accurate, and Recommended for 60 degrees and Above
Cons:
Bad belt buckle and Need Suspenders Not Included
Comments:

I also own the Cayenne Pro pants in black for cool/cold weather riding but even without liners they get too hot in Carolina sun at anything much above 65 degrees on my BMW RT. Bought the Turbines in silver gray because I need something well vented and more reflective for hot and humid Carolina summers. Its too early in the year to tell how well they'll do in July/Aug but I have probed the LOWER end temps for these in March, searching for the "change point" where the Cayennes go in the closet until next fall. On my RT and with the liner in place, I'd wear these at any temp above 60 and would expect to remove the liner in the low 70s. Below 60 the Cayenne Pro are the better choice but the Turbine is tolerable into the low 50s if you're not on a naked at highway speed. You can always add a layer underneath, of course, if you really need to go that low or lower with these. But they're basically mid spring/summer/to mid fall gear here in coastal NC

I wear 38/30 pant size and used the Rev'It size chart. Size 54 is perfect in the hips and waist for me, knee pads in right place when on the bike, perhaps 2 cm short of ideal length when on the bike but fine if you use full height boots. Close enough.

Pants lack any friction material in waistband liner and like all decent bike pants are a bit heavy so tend to slip down some, especially if you wear synthetic fiber layers at the waist. I suppose one could excessively tighten the belt to handle this effect but, like most bike pants, these really need suspenders if you want comfort. No, you don't need a beer gut to be more comfortable with suspenders.

Belt buckle is a cheap plastic bit that doesn't engage well and wants to "twist" out though it hasn't fully released accidentally yet. I plan to replace the belt with a similar web belt with a more effective metal closure.

These are a bit less stiff than the Cayenne Pro and comfortable even when new. General construction is in keeping with Rev'It's usual high standard. They have a similar rain/wind liner as the Cayenne but, of course, lack the insulating liner the Cayenne has. Unlike the Cayenne Pro that has two different length zipper tracks at the waist to facilitate zipping to various jackets, the Turbines have only a single track (the long one). This might matter to you if you already own a jacket that won't match. See specs- Rev'It indicates what in their line these zip to (my Scirocco, for example and current Rev'It summer jackets)

Hoping they vent well when it gets hot here. They look like they ought to work well but I'll find out for sure in July/Aug. and write additional comments then.

Right on Target

By Mark From , AL on March 31, 2009

Pros:
Comfortable
Cons:
Comments:

I couldn't pick an applicable comment for sizing, but this should help. I used page 216 from the Rev'it catalogue, http://www.revit.eu/catalogue/
I couldnt find my wifes tailor's tape so I used some painters tape to determine true length (per their diagram) then measured the tape with a tape measure and multiplied by 2.54 (to find the # in cm vice inches). Size 54 fit all the numbers EXCEPT the outseam (I measured 80). Since I always wear riding pants over my pants and riding pants tend to ride up, I decided to stick with the extra 2 cm offered by the 54.

I love the belt buckle, NO VELCRO! It's way more secure than my previous Frank Thomas pants, and doesn't twist.

Waterproof liners are great! I've worn them through an hour of driving rain at 1/4 to 1/2 mile visibility with no leaks. Removing or reinstalling them takes about a minute with the 3 zippers. There's about a 6 inch piece of rubberized fabric on the bottom inside of the pant leg too. NOTE: these liners are WAY different than anything I've used before. The exterior shell of the pants WILL SOAK, but inside the liner is TOTALLY dry, I took pictures and wiped down the inside with a paper towel to proove it to myself. Two important considerations: Because the liner presses directly against you, riding in the rain feels about 5-10 degrees cooler than other rainproof gear I've had. Also, because the outer shell gets soaked, it takes either about 15 min at 60 degrees to dry the exterior when riding OR hanging the pants up for about 8 hours.

Weeping water at the jucntion at your coat and boots will be your weakest link.

Knee armor is well placed for me (typical jeans inseam 34).

Venting is GOOD with the waterproof liner in and EXCELLENT with the liner removed. Comfortable thru 80F (the highest temp here so far). Breathability of the waterproof liner is WAAAAAAAAAAAY better than my other GORETEX or Aquapore garments, you can actually wear it against your skin w/o sweating.

I compared these pants to Cayenn Pro's (to match my jacket), but I've ridden in as low as 13F and never worn a thermal liner in my pants, so I decided to skip the extra cost and add the venting.

I compared RevZilla to Cusworths in the UK (where my wife bought my jacket for my birthday). With the current conversion rate, Cusworths had the better price, but they can't track shipping and a 2 week delivery took almost 7 weeks. For piece of mind, 15 extra bucks and some Zilla cash, I bought here.

The only thing I miss is the full length side zippers that let me step into and out of my last pants w/o taking off my boots, but this seems to ba a concession to better waterproofing/breathability these days.

REV'IT! Turbine Pants Videos

RevZillaTV

REV'IT! Jackets are European (slim) cut and generally more narrow in the shoulders than other brands. Please take this into account when choosing the appropriate size. Most riders with any body type other than "slim" would need to order one size larger than they typically might wear in other brands, if you are in between sizes, we recommend erring on the larger side. If you have any questions about REV'IT! sizing please call 877-792-9455 for help.
