LOVE the features
I had my heart set on these particular riding pants and they did not disappoint. Wore them every day on a twelve day bike trip through cold mountain weather and smokin' hot days on the bike. The ability to add layers (inside rain-proof liner) or to quickly adjust airflow with the zip in/out panel makes it perfect for varying weather conditions. I also love the length as I'm 5'9 and 157 pounds and these pants cover my ankles when seated on the bike. I bought a size large and they fit a little tight in the waist but are still comfortable and perfect fit everywhere else. I did remove the small front hip guards to get a better fit in the waist but the larger hip pads are still there for protection.

I also love the style of these pants.. they do not feel like over-sized snow pants but have a sleek line with a tapered leg that I feel comfortable enough to walk into a restaurant or store without looking like the abominable snowman! The side seams zip open to allow more airflow when off the bike and I can take them on & off with my boots on, although it is easier to take the boots off first.

Have had a few compliments on the these Joe Rocket Women's Alter Ego Pants and I love 'em!

Leather-lover approved
I purchased these pants to wear on a 300 mile weekend trip I had planned; I only ride as passenger now and this was my second time on a bike. Because I'm so new I was very nervous purchasing pants.

After an exhaustive search for leather pants I finally purchased these. Despite not being leather they had all the protection I wanted and had an adjustable hem--a blessing because I had two weeks before the ride and have a 27.5 inch inseam.

About 250 miles of the 340 we rode had temperatures around 104 F. I wore a pair of tight running pants under these because I didn't like the way the liner stuck to my skin when I sweat. The zip off vent was fabulous. With the vent zipped on these pants did well riding into a cold, foggy San Francisco night, too. I haven't used the wet weather liner yet.

The knee protection and I had some discussions during the first half of the ride but I eventually broke them in and they stayed in place. I have a 27 inch waist and 36 inch hips. The XS fits well. Even my boyfriend, who loves leather also, told me these pants looked good.

These are worth the money and are a great first time purchase.

Awesome pants!! Well worth the money, great features!
I bought these pants in preparation for a three day, 1200 mile trip in spring. Turns out ¨spring¨ really felt more like winter - it was below freezing when I left each morning, and barely got above forty during the day. Needless to say, it was not a comfortable ride, but these pants definitely made it bearable. They are great wind blockers, and the liner made them feel warmer even though it isn't really an insulating liner. Functionally, the get an A+. Adjustment strap on the back allowed me to tighten them just enough to fit well, and the zipper attachment to my Joe Rocket jacket kept wind from creeping up my back.

They're very comfortable - one person had mentioned they felt that the armor dug into their hips, but I did not experience this. I'm 5'-6¨, 130 lbs, and size medium was a perfect fit over my jeans. These pants managed to fit over my jeans without feeling bulky, and still had a ¨feminine¨ look and feel.

I haven't gotten a chance to see if these are waterproof yet, but everything appears well sealed. I also haven't used the vent strip yet, but it seems like a system that would work well.

All in all, I give Joe Rocket a great big thumbs up for making a pant that's functional for us girls that really do ride, while still keeping a feminine touch. Way to go!

Sizing is unrealistic for a real woman rider
I know things run small but these are ridiculous. I wear a size 14/16 Jean ordered the 2xl. Didn't even get over my hips. I tried on Bilt women's XL and could fit snugly into that, their 2xl fit perfect over jeans. I just didn't get them because the didn't have vents, but guess I will be going back for those. These are cute but not for a woman with any curves. So if you are thick with thighs and butt, these won't fit.

Great As Overpants
I use these pants as overpants for commuting to work. I got a size up, large, as I do not want too tight and constricting movement on the bike while wearing dress pants/slacks/khakis whatever they are called underneath them, with the liner removed. I'm 5'5, about 138lbs. The pants are a little long on me but easily fixed by snapping up a hem or two on the pant legs. One con is when getting the pants on sometimes my foot will snag on the bottom snaps inside the pants, but minor irritant for major adjustability!

I almost always wear them with the vent floral zipper removed so there is better air circulation. Great to feel padding in the knees, hips, etc, which as made me a little more daring when driving, and actually a better driver!

Awesome product, awesome service, awesome price!
The sizing chart is true to actual measurements, so make sure you measure yourself! With that being said, when my pants showed up too small (completely my fault because I didn't measure!) the exchange process was fast, easy, and painless! When my new pants arrived (very fast turn around time!) they fit great! A little gapey at the waste (as I have that problem no matter what pants I wear!) but the velcro cinchers gave them a better fit (and who wants TIGHT riding pants, anyhow?) Getting on and off the motorcycle is a little clumsy as range of motion is lessened, however, I do have a taller bike and having it fully loaded with gear makes me less than graceful anyhow! Recent trip in the rain and they were great- they kept me warm and dry- and that's without added waterproof spraying! Would highly recommend this product for any rider looking for added protection!

Love these pants
They are great looking, have loads of protection, and have the zip out waterproof liner which will surely double as cold protection this fall. There's a panel that runs from the back of both thighs around the lower back part of the pants which unzips completely to reveal a mesh liner, great for extra ventilation. I wear a size 14 and they fit perfectly. I'm 5'6" 175 lbs.

Comfy, adjustable, protective pants that look good
Finally got to give these pants a workout with 10 days of serious riding (shortest day 3.5 hours; longest day 8.5 hours). I am 5'7" and 140lbs with a bit of excess in the middle; I chose the L as I wanted to add layers under the pants for some riding. I probably could have gotten away with the M, but with the way the pants sit high I think the L was smarter.

Temps were from 19C (65F) to 35C (95F). I removed the vent panel for all riding and it did an ok job of giving me some relief when it got hot. I was perfectly fine with no extra layer at the coldest temps we rode in and the one day I rode with a light legging I about melted at 24C/75; I was, of course, seriously hot at the upper end, but it was workable. For me, these pants are comfortable-ish to about 30C (86F), but honestly I'm going to try to find another option for 26C/78F and above.

I did feel a bit like I was wearing snow pants, unlike some other reviewers. They did feel a bit bulky and made the swishing sound when I'd walk, but they do the job and have great protection. The pants look nice and fit well over my boots; I happily went in to cafes/pubs and stores while wearing them, but they are clearly built with purpose. All the adjustments available are excellent and elevate these pants.

Sometimes I undid some of the snaps at waist to make the pants sit exactly where I needed them to sit while riding - especially while crouched well down through endless twisties. I'd often forget to redo them, but the zipper alone did a fine of job of keeping the pants more or less in place with only a little sliding down. Zips and snaps are all very sturdy and easy to use.

Worn them for hours now on Honda VFR1200 through hours of tight mountain twisties plus suburban & highway riding and on Yamaha XT1200Z long haul straight roads & off-road adventure.

Overall, I'm very pleased with these pants and will put many more miles on them.

Works OK
I've had these pants for about 2 years and I just crashed in them going about 15mph. The knee armor gave me some protection, but slid out of place so my knee landed in the shin protector. They also tore. I bet these would have been totally shredded if this had been a high speed crash.

I'm giving these 3 stars because the knee armor protected me somewhat and so did the fabric, but not as much as it should have. The hip armor seemed to protect me the way it was intended, so plus for that.

I am 5'6" 125lbs and these pants are about 1.5" too long for me, but they fit very well in the waist.

Cut/Fit Not for Someone Who Actually Rides
I had such high hopes for these! They look great and I really like all of the features. When I first put them on, I was like "yay! These are awesome.", but as soon as I tried to sit or bend or get on my motorcycle, I found that the cut is horrible. As usual with women's "riding" gear, these pants are made for standing around, not actually sitting on a motorcyle.

As soon as you bend at the waist, the front of the pants pushes against your stomach and abdomin and the back of the pants gets lower (exposes your lower back) and sticks out away from your back and they are very tight through the hips/butt area. I'm 5'6", 125 lbs. I tried the XS, S and Medium and nothing fit right when actually in a riding position.

My wife has a Joe Rocket Jacket...these are the matching pants. Since they have zip-off panels to expose the mesh she'll be more likely to wear these in warmer weather than leave armored pants at home. ATGATT!
Besides, they have the 'girly' embroidery on them that matches the jacket, and are cut better for women than Tourmaster Flex pants. She also likes the snap-adjustable hem...she's 5'9" and they fit her (or someone shorter with the adjustable hem).

If you are only going to own one pair of riding pants, you might as well maximize the options and flexibility.

Price point but it turns out these are pretty poorly made. Within a few months of buying the seams started to pull and it also ripped under the right knee. I won't buy this brand again.

Love these pants. Fit is perfect and shapes for the women's body, Only disappointment is the zip out air flow which i love that it has it, but, the position of it, and because it's mesh allows your thigh 'skin' to kind of squish out of the zip out area when in a full riding position. looks weird. but i do love the pants.

I liked the fact that these pants were noted to fit as described by several reviewers. Also the length of the pants... at 5'10" it's important.

Is it comfortable to wear these over jeans or khakis?
Guest on Aug 12, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I would say only if you got a size bigger. They are really intended to be worn alone not at overpants. If you take the waterproof liner out you could wear them over shorts or maybe lightweight summer pants.
How does the hem length adjust? Where does the excess material store?
A shopper on Jan 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The hem length adjusts by a series of buttons, or snaps, if you will, on the inside of the lower pant leg. The excess material gets folded at the desired location (there are 3 or 4 length options) and snaps inside the pant leg. It's like how you fold and pin a pant leg you are preparing hem, if you can picture that. The excess material stays folded inside, so the leg is doubled up on the bottom and stays that way. You cannot visually notice the added material once it's adjusted, and it does not affect the fit of the pant around riding boots. It's a pretty clever system, really.
In the photos the black appears light, almost a grey/black. Is this true or are the pants a true, rich black?
A shopper on Apr 3, 2012
BEST ANSWER: pants are black. they do have a bit of a shimmer...so your probably seeing reflection from the flash.
I am a New Zealand size 10 normally, the waist for a small seems quite snug but the hips a little generous. Can anyone comments on that? Also are the thighs generous?
A C on Aug 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I bought a XS, my hips are 33" waist 25" my thigh is 18", I'm 5'7. I bought them for the length because it is so hard to find protective pants long enough. I had the same concern that the hips would be too big, but there is hip protectors inside so the extra room I felt was required. I find the fit a bit snug only with the water proof liner in around my hip bones with jeans underneath. This is because the liner is more of a rain suit material and does not stretch at all and that is only when on a my sport bike where riding position my knees are up more. Other than that I love these pants, I would buy them again. I may even buy a medium some day so I can fit really big warm pants underneath for colder rides. I like things to be on the bigger fit so I have room to add layers and still be comfortable. I hope this helps
Has anyone gone down in these? Would like to know how they hold up.
A shopper on Oct 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes I went down at about 15mph and they tore near the ankle. Also the knee armor did not stay in place.
Will the Forcefield 4-Layer Replacement Hip Armor fit in this pants? Is the hip armor in a pocket or is it Velcro type?
Melody B on Apr 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The hip armor is in a pocket. I am not familiar with the Forcefield armor, so I can't say whether it will fit.
I'm almost 5'11" with long legs. ~34" inseam. What is the inseam measurement of these pants? Also, I weigh about 168, wear a size 10 jeans, pants, skirts. What size do you recommend?
