Joe Rocket Ballistic 7.0 Pants
Good commuting pants
I've been wearing these pants for the past week everyday back and forth to work on a 30 minute ride each way and I can't find anything seriously wrong with these pants other than 1 of the snaps will pop open every time. With the rain liner in these pants will get hot fast but rode in light stuff for 15 mins and didn't have a drop come through. Without the liner in I don't feel like I'm going to burn up in these sitting in traffic at 70 degrees out. All the pads fall naturally in the right position and there is a ton of adjustability in waist and the legs. Easy on and off as long as you don't snag the knee armor pocket with your boot.

As a beginning Rider, we all want the best protection, and since we spent money on a nice bike, we dont have much left over. Good to pair with an applicable jacket that zipps together, and with a pair of shorts underneath, a not too hot. Nice movable protection in the knees and fit nice and snug in the waist. A little bulky in the ankles but it definately pays off in the rain with the underliner....CHEERS

I feel safer with these pants on... The knee pads provide excellent protection and the inside rain liner keeps me dry. Great item.

Good protection, best for cool weather
I bought these pants mostly based on fit. I'm 5'8" and wear a 34/30".
There are a lot of good things about these pants. To start, they feel substantial and of good quality. The thought of sliding across the pavement isn't so scary with these on. Tough CE knee protection is complemented by some thinner foam hip protection. They fit easily over full length Cortech boots, and I really appreciate the velcros near the bottom of the pants that allow you to close the ends of the legs tight against your boots to prevent buffeting in the wind. I haven't tested the claim that they are water proof, but can believe it.
The pants come with an inner liner that is removable, so you can just wear the mesh-lined outer shell in the summer.
These are substantial, weatherproof pants. That being said, they are HOT. I really don't feel any ventilation on my legs when riding, which is uncomfortable on summer days. I always get a bit sweaty under them, even in shorts. However, I have only used them in summer riding. I bet they'd be ideal for the cooler months and would highly recommend them if that's when you plan to do most of your riding.

Good, warm pants.
Been wearing these pants since the middle of last season.
Warm, very warm, never used the rain liner yet because they keep you pretty dry without it.
Fitting is good, little bit loose, but not enough to warrant an exchange like I've done with other brands.
Knee armor is plastic. I prefer plastic knee armor vs. kevlar for personal reasons.
Warm, very warm, like extremely warm. Good for long windy rides on the freeway, not so good when cruising around the city on a 100° day. The rain liner is only good for sweaty balls. .
Side zippers - All my other overpants were Alpinestars and they had a zipper that started from the side and gradually moved towards the other side and stopped right above the knee. The JR zippers go straight up and down. The Alpinestars zippers are much easier to get in and out of while wearing boots. The zippers also catch and frequently get stuck on the pant legs.
Bulky - Material is very strong, but with strength comes bulk. They look like ski pants and the legs will rub against each other while walking to sound like ski pants as well. The material is thick enough that I bet these things would probably outperform ski pants as far as warmth and water resistance goes.
Short rise - Crotch to waist ratio is a bit short and with the loose fitting, the chances of displaying butt crack to the world behind you is very high.
Did I mention that these pants are really warm?
Despite the cons outweighing the pros, I'd still recommend these pants for the long range rider.

Great cold weather pants
I have worn these pants without the liner into the mid 20s (non-highway speeds) and they have kept me warm with either jeans or thermals under them. I am a 34x34 in jeans and I got the LG. I wish I had got the long, as they ride up to the top of my 6" boot when seated on the bike, but the waist is adjustable enough I can wear jeans with a belt or thermals and they fit fine.
My one complaint is the buttons and zippers. leg zippers can be finicky and buttons sometimes pop when i sit (especially the lower one). But for the price of these pants, it is something I am willing to overlook.
The zipper flap in the rear to attach to my jacket was the wrong direction and the zipper teeth were not compatible with the YKK on my Triumph jacket. My jacket came with the extra side for the zipper, so I had a tailor sew it in the pants so I could use that functionality.

Good value for my Florida Winter pant
My inseam is 36" from crotch to floor, and my waist size (34"), so J.R. was about the only choice in my size anyway. (Large/Tall)
I'm a full time motorcyclist, and bought these in the Autumn of 2013, and while they're not big on features, they've held up well, and show no real signs of wear yet. They're too hot for me in anything over 80'F, and with the water proof liner in that drops to about 70'F. I have no issues with the comfort, and don't find them bulkiy, though they're not slim either. I've had no poblems fitting them over street clothes, and they cinch down enough for wearing over Under/Armor or skivvies. The back cinch tabs are a bit flimsy, and found it best to adjust them first before fastening the front. (I think they'll tear otherwise.) The Leg zippers constantly catch on the seam flaps and can be a pain when zipping the full length. I haven't had any issues with leaks, but if it's really going to pour, even n January, it's generally too warm for me to wear these. They could use some reflective material, but overall I think they're solid for the price.

Great Winter Riding Pants
These pants are are heavy, warm, and waterproof! They offer great knee and hip protection. They fit slightly large on me, but I think that is because they are an overpant. The adjustable waist and ankle straps help control the oversized fit. If you don't want to wear them as an overpant, order a size down.
