Good protection, best for cool weather I bought these pants mostly based on fit. I'm 5'8" and wear a 34/30". There are a lot of good things about these pants. To start, they feel substantial and of good quality. The thought of sliding across the pavement isn't so scary with these on. Tough CE knee protection is complemented by some thinner foam hip protection. They fit easily over full length Cortech boots, and I really appreciate the velcros near the bottom of the pants that allow you to close the ends of the legs tight against your boots to prevent buffeting in the wind. I haven't tested the claim that they are water proof, but can believe it. The pants come with an inner liner that is removable, so you can just wear the mesh-lined outer shell in the summer. These are substantial, weatherproof pants. That being said, they are HOT. I really don't feel any ventilation on my legs when riding, which is uncomfortable on summer days. I always get a bit sweaty under them, even in shorts. However, I have only used them in summer riding. I bet they'd be ideal for the cooler months and would highly recommend them if that's when you plan to do most of your riding. May 14, 2015
Good, warm pants. Been wearing these pants since the middle of last season. Pros: Warm, very warm, never used the rain liner yet because they keep you pretty dry without it. Fitting is good, little bit loose, but not enough to warrant an exchange like I've done with other brands. Knee armor is plastic. I prefer plastic knee armor vs. kevlar for personal reasons. Cons: Warm, very warm, like extremely warm. Good for long windy rides on the freeway, not so good when cruising around the city on a 100° day. The rain liner is only good for sweaty balls. . Side zippers - All my other overpants were Alpinestars and they had a zipper that started from the side and gradually moved towards the other side and stopped right above the knee. The JR zippers go straight up and down. The Alpinestars zippers are much easier to get in and out of while wearing boots. The zippers also catch and frequently get stuck on the pant legs. Bulky - Material is very strong, but with strength comes bulk. They look like ski pants and the legs will rub against each other while walking to sound like ski pants as well. The material is thick enough that I bet these things would probably outperform ski pants as far as warmth and water resistance goes. Short rise - Crotch to waist ratio is a bit short and with the loose fitting, the chances of displaying butt crack to the world behind you is very high. Did I mention that these pants are really warm? Despite the cons outweighing the pros, I'd still recommend these pants for the long range rider. April 13, 2015
Great cold weather pants I have worn these pants without the liner into the mid 20s (non-highway speeds) and they have kept me warm with either jeans or thermals under them. I am a 34x34 in jeans and I got the LG. I wish I had got the long, as they ride up to the top of my 6" boot when seated on the bike, but the waist is adjustable enough I can wear jeans with a belt or thermals and they fit fine. My one complaint is the buttons and zippers. leg zippers can be finicky and buttons sometimes pop when i sit (especially the lower one). But for the price of these pants, it is something I am willing to overlook. The zipper flap in the rear to attach to my jacket was the wrong direction and the zipper teeth were not compatible with the YKK on my Triumph jacket. My jacket came with the extra side for the zipper, so I had a tailor sew it in the pants so I could use that functionality. April 13, 2015
Good value for my Florida Winter pant My inseam is 36" from crotch to floor, and my waist size (34"), so J.R. was about the only choice in my size anyway. (Large/Tall) I'm a full time motorcyclist, and bought these in the Autumn of 2013, and while they're not big on features, they've held up well, and show no real signs of wear yet. They're too hot for me in anything over 80'F, and with the water proof liner in that drops to about 70'F. I have no issues with the comfort, and don't find them bulkiy, though they're not slim either. I've had no poblems fitting them over street clothes, and they cinch down enough for wearing over Under/Armor or skivvies. The back cinch tabs are a bit flimsy, and found it best to adjust them first before fastening the front. (I think they'll tear otherwise.) The Leg zippers constantly catch on the seam flaps and can be a pain when zipping the full length. I haven't had any issues with leaks, but if it's really going to pour, even n January, it's generally too warm for me to wear these. They could use some reflective material, but overall I think they're solid for the price. March 26, 2015
Great Winter Riding Pants These pants are are heavy, warm, and waterproof! They offer great knee and hip protection. They fit slightly large on me, but I think that is because they are an overpant. The adjustable waist and ankle straps help control the oversized fit. If you don't want to wear them as an overpant, order a size down. March 23, 2015
Good pants! Really good pants, I love em! Usually I wear 36x36 levis, 6 ft 7 inches tall athletic built man, that pants in XLT sits on me perfectly. I like removable liner, I like material, I like style. Knee protection is no good for track-days, but if you commute in city - good choice. Not for warm days, but in middle and cold weather that pants awesome. Recommend for all-day riding. March 2, 2015
This product is awesome! I'm very satisfied with this product. I needed it for a trip and I'm very happy to have it now. Many thanks! February 18, 2015
Very good quality I'm 6'2" and have a 50 inch waist, finally found a product of good quality that fits a fat old bugger like me. Could ride a bit higher instead on on the hips though. Overall very happy February 16, 2015

A shopper asked: I am looking for a pair of pants that I can wear by themselves, without putting them over jeans. It looks like these are overpants though.

Is anyone wearing these as a regular pant?

Sean B: I always wore these alone or over long johns. it's a tough cordura fabric. you could fit jeans underneath but there's no reason to. if you're looking to wear these to the office, they're a little too serious for that, but otherwise they look pretty normal for working and walking around. overall highly recommend them. JEAN-PIERRE M: I have these pants and I would not wear them as regular pants because they're pretty bulky and they're HOT. They look and feel like snow pants and also make a lot of noise when you walk and the legs rub together.

These are great over pants though and keep you very warm and dry.

jameson a: These pants work fine as regular pants. They come with an inner liner for cold weather, but I have been using the pants without the inner liner (I do wear basketball shorts underneath for a little confort) ever since I purchased them. Apr 12, 2015

Jack A: They work well as a regular pant. I have never used the liner, but have worn tights under them in cold weather. Great pants! Apr 13, 2015

Jeramey J: WEATHER
I have been wearing these since last year. There is a zip out poly liner that I leave out for the summer. Winter time I put it back in so I can travel in the rain.
WIND
These pants are great for wind-block and I traveled all winter last year in them, rocking sweats or jeans underneath.

SIZE
Im a big dude, so wear a 5X . My pants waist size is 50. And, I still have room for my jeans no problem the the pants slide well on them. The thing for size is that, with a big waist, they seem to think I should have a 36" inseam. So, I got them hemmed up from a friend and trimmed the zippers. But, thats because I've got stubs for legs.

TEMP
I have not been cold in this pants yet, even on 500 mile days. With the liner in and a base layer, I get no wind through the material or water. They are thick and provide good protection. In the summer, I remove the liner and just wear a base layer (under armour stretchies / thermals) against the internal mesh liner. Works for me. I will continue to wear these all winter in my case.

Kevin L: I wear 34/35 pants and brought the XL. I wear them as overpants and have plenty of room in the waist and legs. With the liner in they keep me pretty warm. I have worn them in the low 20s and felt no chill. I have to take the liner out when it's above 40 or I get pretty hot in them. I've only used mine as winter over pants. Oct 22, 2013

Vir N: Well I have not ridden in them in the winter to start with but I have ridden in the rain in the higher parts of the Himalays. Where it got pretty cold. I was wearing the pants with the rain liner and a pair of thermals inside and that was good enough for me. I have not tried to wear them over clothing but I think they would fit pretty well. All in all I am very happy with them. They are the only pair of riding pants in my kit now and I have used them all year round http://helmetstories.blogspot.in/search/label/Pangi%20Valley Oct 23, 2013

Otis M: I bought these to wear over work clothes for rides into the office. They are a little tight in the thighs and hips for over jeans. I bought a large and have a 36 waist. Plenty of room in the waist, not much in the hips and upper thighs. I think an XL might have been better.

They are very warm and have become my cold weather pants. I have not worn them with the liners because of the tightness in the hip and thighs. I ride in temps in the 20s in dry Colorado.
