Quality boots
I have had these boots for a while now, and I am very happy with them. These boots are of very high quality. They are not designed in Italy and made in China, they are actually made in Italy.
I have been riding in pouring down rain and they haven't leaked a bit. Not smelly or nothing.
They run a bit big in sizes, but I am very happy.

2 pairs and not happy
I purchased these as all weather touring. They leaked and I rode in puddles. Gaerne did replace after a year (Good service) but the second pair leaked again from day 1 in the rain. They have continued to. I like this brand, but I could not have got 2 lemon pairs, so can only see it as a design flaw. I would not recommend these boots to anyone.

These boots are made for riding
These Italian-made boots are the most sport(tour)-oriented sibling of the non-racing family. They are high quality, made of leather with ample protection troughout. The boots are articulated forwards, with a strong thin sole and narrow heel. In other words, they are magic on the bike, but sep off and they are good for walking to your office; no more.
The boots are very comfortable (after break in). They have large flex panels front and back, easing movement, and good ajustment for tucking in pants. The mutiple reflective panels are a nice touch. The aquatech does its job well.
My only problem was sizing. I am a 9.5 us/43 European with a wide foot. The size 10 (marked 44 1/2) was however far too big. I now have the size 9 (marked 43), however with no room to spare.
These boots are recommended for the serious sports and sport-touring rider. They will keep you warm and dry in cold weather and offer great feel and feedback for daylong stints.

Nice waterPROOF boots
These boots rock. I've had them for a few months now. I've worn them in torrential downpours and my feet don't even get moist, they stay bone dry. They are nice for braking and shifting, and have a good grip on the ground while stopped. There is one problem. The insoles that come with the boot slip around, the solution is to use a $10 Dr. Scholls gell inserts. The gell grips the bottom and doesn't slide around, and it feels nice
