Comfortable and waterproof
I bought this jacket mainly for its waterproof feature and its style. In both areas it delivered (i live in New Zealand) .

Its stylish and comfortable and i like its double zip feature (an inner waterproof zip up lining and the outer zip).

Its only downside was that it was shorter than i was expecting - im 6'1 and its length was slightly higher than hip level. This meant that despite pulling up my waterproof pants water managed to get underneath a little and wet the bottom of my shirt on the first major downpour (rest of the shirt was dry). Other wet days it was fine so maybe it was just in major rain it could be an issue.

I imagine that if you live in a warmer climate then this jacket will be very good.

Love the jacket.
As a new rider and this being my first jacket, I can't discuss anything that involves protection as I have no comparison and haven't gone down. I tried on a few jackets in a similar price point amongst my friends but none seemed to fit well. I do know that I have a hard time finding any clothes that do actually fit. I'm 5'7" 185 lbs, and what you would expect from someone that used to spend a lot of time in the gym. Shoulder and arms are generally tight or the torso is loose. I actually first ordered the XL from the reviews and the arms seemed to fit great, but the torso was loose. I ordered the Lg and the torso was good but arms were tight, but only until it broke in a little. Now it fits almost perfect. The airflow matches what the other reviews made me expect, and it's hot and humid where I'm at so, yes, I get hot when sitting in the shi$$y traffic. Otherwise I'm good with the temp. Not feeling like I'm wearing a jacket or wearing a space suit is important to me and that's what I get with this jacket.

M (Tall) FTW!
My size M (Tall) fits great! (6'4", 170 lbs.). I've tried plenty of other jackets and they look like kids clothes on me (torso is always too short) but this one fit. The rainproof and insulating liner are great, as are the pockets, and armor, though I doubt they will be used very much as I live in a very hot and humid area. Defends against random flying gravel and ventilation is great, as long as you're in motion of course.

Really Like This Jacket
I haven't done any long range rides yet, but in the sweltering Alabama heat and humidity I am amazed. Really like how the arm straps allow for adjustment and the fit of the XL Tall was very good for me. I am 6'8" and 250lbs. There is NO extra room so I can not put anything under it other then a thin shirt.

Outstanding all-around jacket
I have worn the same Fieldsheer model for three years, maybe 15,000 mi. Its is my go-to in the summer. Removed back armor and cut out a few pocket liners to give me the most ventilated jacket with some armor. It was getting worn and too many bug stains. This is the updated model with two liners, but still the same large hole mesh which is the only one I can find like it. So happy they are still making it.
Looks good, fits great and best ventilated. I've tried at least three other brands of ventilated, they are not as 'cool'.

Great three-season jacket
After quite a bit of research into what jacket to get for a newer rider, I settled on this jacket because of the zip-in waterproof liner and the included back protector. The jacket fit very well and I was perfectly comfortable wearing it on and off the bike. I live in the desert, so the mesh worked wonders for me in the day while the quilted liner helped keep me comfortable in the cool evenings. However, once it starts to get into the 40's and maybe even the 50's, you'll want to don a sweater underneath this, even with the liners zipped in.

While at a track day, I took a pretty hard fall - I bit on the front end at about 60 mph and was thrown off the bike pretty violently. Thanks to this jacket, I walked away with some moderate bruising on my ribs, light rug-burn on my elbows, and a very lightly scuffed shoulder. The jacket itself does not crash well (I'm buying a replacement now), but it kept me whole. I don't think I'd recommend it for track riding, but for commuting and touring (my usual riding habits), it's hard to beat for the money. Just bear in mind that it crashes pretty ugly.

Great jacket for summer riding
I ordered this jacket in black, wanting a jacket that would keep me cool for summer riding. This delivered. I have an older Fieldsheer jacket that is the same size (large), but the cut on this one is more form-fitting, and it flows a lot more air than my old jacket with zip vents. I'm 6'1'', 185 lbs. Bonus - the jacket has a two layer liner - the outer layer is lightweight and waterproof, and the inner layer is thin insulation. I normally ride with both liners out, but keep the waterproof layer in my riding bag, just in case.

Great jacket with plenty of features.
The first time I really wore this jacket on a ride I was on a gravel road with some large rocks that gave me "whiskey throttle". I ended up going down hard on some unforgiving rocks (twice). My elbow and shoulder took a couple of hard hits. I escaped with only a little rug burn.

Very nicely designed jacket. It seems to give a little as you wear it so it went from being perfect to a little too big. I am 6'4" 245 lbs with an athletic build and got a 3xl tall. If you are a big guy you should look at this.

One feature I really like is the dual liners. One is for rain. The other for colder temps. This gives you a lot of versatility.

Very good workmanship too.

You might not like the fit
Here's the deal on sizing, I'm 6'1" 180 with 42" chest & 34" waist. I bought a Large and it fits perfectly in the sleeve length, shoulders, chest. But the torso, I'm left with lots of loose fabric around the middle. I'm used to a much trimmer/Euro style fit when it comes to motorcycle jackets. If you've got a little fullness thru the midsection you might love it. It impresses me as a quality jacket, nice liner and sleeve cinches. It's gray - not silver. I've got FS gloves in silver, but again this jacket is gray if that matters to you.

Got baked again this year rolling to and from the Sturgis 75th. My gal has a mesh jacket and swears by it. I decided to breakdown and get me one. Did my research and found Fieldsheer to be one of the best out there. I like the armor and the liners. Plus, they have the larger AND tall sizes. That's a HUGE PLUS in my book.

Need a warm weather jacket. Looked at them all. This is one good looking piece of gear. Good reviews.

Already own a Fieldsheer textile jacket and am pleased with the fit and quality, so I figured I'd stay with the brand!

One of the few that meet all the needs plus had the back armor already installed. Most I had to buy extra armor so for price/protection this was the best option

UPDATE: I have used this jacket during the summer months without either internal liner and during this 2014/15 winter and it has proven to be a very, very versatile jacket.. The versatility comes in strong with the removable dual liners. The thermal liner really does do a great job of keeping me warm with it's full length sleeves and torso, and there is little to no necessity for additional layers down into the 40-50°F range. It's proving to be one of the best jackets I've owned.

I'm also a tall, slim guy, at 6'4", 190 lbs, 40" chest. I'm considering the M-Tall, because I want a trim fit, but I was wondering if the tall versions offer a longer torso length in the jacket, not just longer arms? If its a longer torso length as well, than it'll probably work for me.
A shopper on Oct 14, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, torso as well as sleeves are have ample lenght as with anything found in a TALL size... I love the jacket. It's no so cool in the summer unless rolling down the highway without the liner, but in 70° weather it's great!
Does the armor still work on a cruiser? Have seen several mesh that the armor doesn't fall correctly in the cruising bikes position versus the crotch rockets positions. Thanks
A shopper on May 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes - the armor on this jacket works for street/cruise riding positions.
The Sleeve length on the sizing chart does not seem to make sense, it says to measure from the neck to the wrist - but the measurements listed won't match anyone but the strangest of sized people.

Measuring from the shoulder seems to produce results that are in line with the chart.

So i'm trying to confirm if you should measure from the shoulder, or the neck like outlined in the sizing chart?
Morgan K on Sep 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Answering my own question here but i contacted Fieldsheer and they did say that the sizing chart was wrong and that they would get it updated on their site, but you do in fact measure from the shoulder.

To clarify with what Fieldsheer said to me about measuring "Please note that when measuring the sleeve, we measure from the drop of the shoulder down to the beginning of the wrist."

Hopefully this helps anyone that was looking.
Is there anyway to replace the liner?
A C on Jan 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Call fieldsheer, they are very helpful, sent me a new liner for free.
Can you help describe the Navy blue color? The photo shows it as a dark blue in the mesh but I have seen other photos showing more of a light/faded blue color.
