I hope I never find out for sure but the padding designed to protect your tail seems lacking. However, there is form-fitting armor protecting your thighs that seems sufficient.
The brief is constructed of heavy gauge fabric that gives the look of fish net. It isn't designed to take the place of an undergarment but provides maximum airflow and flexibility.

these protective pro shorts are great. fit well under my tex lady drake pants. the shorts material is mesh/fish net - so best to wear boxer briefs or spandex underneath, but the breathable material helps you stay cool. the hard pads on the hips are excellent and cool with the perforation. the soft pad over the coccyx feels sturdy yet does not dig. therefore, they are surprisingly comfortable as well, barely feel them while riding or walking around.
i ride a standard bike (triumph bonneville), and my bf rides a sport bike (triumph street triple), so he purchased the dainese hard shorts. the main difference between the hard shorts and the pro shorts is the coccyx/tail bone protection. in these shorts, the protective pad has a hard shell, whereas the pro shorts have a soft shell over the coccyx padding. the hard shorts are good if riding in a more aggressive position, but are not comfortable when sitting upright on a standard bike, since the hard plate digs into your behind and lower back. the pro shorts are fine when sitting upright since the coccyx padding is softer - i don't feel it at all. the other difference is in the waist and thigh band: the hard shorts have a silicone rubber thigh band which the pro shorts do not have. the mesh lyrca is basically the same.
i wear a ladies pant size 10/12 and i have thick legs. i purchased the mens size L because the thigh bands on the size M were too tight around my legs. either would have been ok, but the large shorts are more comfortable and still do not slide around. i do have to wear pants that are slightly loose without the shorts, but they fit perfectly together.

These shorts are made of mesh, unlike shown on the picture, do they're great for the summer. The mesh is good quality and it actually looks like it would hold up well in case of a crash under some tear resistant riding jeans/pants.
My problem with these is that beside the thigh pad (which is way too short, therefore it's questionable how well it would perform) every other pad is very soft and the feel sugest it simply wouldn't do well if u go down.
Pros Quality Mesh, Comfortable
Cons Soft Pads, Too Short, Flimsy

These shorts are great and I would recommend them for anyone that would like added safety in anything they do.
They fit under my race leathers very well, and the only thing I might do differently is to buy the 'hard shorts' with the added tailbone plate.
Revzilla was incredibly knowledgeable and the fastest shipping I could have imagined.
I ordered them one morning from across the state of Pa. and they were on my doorstep before lunch the next day!
A+++

Don't get caught in a police lineup wearing these Dainese shorts. They may think you like fishnet stockings. The photo doesn't adequately illustrate their see-through quality. I still hope they work when the going gets rough… if you know what I mean. For modesty sake, I wear black shorts under the "netting."
Pros Comfortable, Black, Mesh

Good Fit, Inadequate padding

From DALLAS
These fit well and were quite comfortable, but the padding is too soft and this and is not CE certified. The manufacturer does not claim that the padding is CE certified, but I was hoping for much more thickness and density in the padding.
No, I do not recommend this product.
