I've had the Air G Back Protector for a few weeks and it gives me great peace of mind! While I haven't crashed yet with it to determine just how good it is at protecting me, it's level of comfort and airflow ensure that I'll still be wearing it when that day comes. It fits in my jacket like a glove, articulates with me as I lean over and curve my back, and it does a good job allowing air to vent off my back on these hot August days. There are definitely less expensive options out there, but this one is really a great value from my experience so far.

This Dainese Shield Air G Back Protector fits my Dainese Air Jacket perfectly. I feel safer with it. Nice touches are: the protector has recess lines to make it more bendable instead of just a flat piece. And tiny holes can vent your body heat to increase the air flow also with it, etc.

The Shield Air G2 back protector fits my Dainese Air 2 Textile mesh jacket well. It's a perfect fit horizontally in the back pocket though the pocket is taller by about 3 inches vertically. I'm not sure if the G2 needs that space to travel or adjust vertically when in a more aggressive riding position(?)
The Shield Air feels sturdy and the build quality is exceptional. The protective hard components are vented throughout by it's small hexagonal perforations. Among the better features I like about this back protector are it's segmented construction and size that allow for easy bending and large surface area coverage.
The Shield Air coupled with the Air-2's included shoulder and elbow and forearm protectors make for quite a secure feeling jacket. The weight feels negligible when worn and though it's by no means a thin product, it does a great job being very discreet when inserted in the jacket.

I originally ordered the Wave G, on G1 size because according to the sizing my size 48 jacket was meant to go with this. As it turns out I went to my local Dainese store and tried the Air Shield G on size G2 and it fitted!, so I wear this instead on my jacket size 48, I would not recommend trying this on a size smaller jacket than mine because it barely fits inside the pocket. It provides a larger area of protection than the Wave G and its confty enough, it bends with the movement of your back. Overall very happy with this product.

I picked up the G1 for my Dainese Zen Leather Jacket (size: 46), and the fit was very tight going in. At first look, it seems like the back protector won't go in. I would suggest to bend it into a U form and have someone help slip it in.
The back protector bends very well. Once on the jacket, I didn't even notice it is there unless I touch my back.

If you have a Dainese or Ducati jacket with the large pocket size the normal back pad will be too loose in the pocket. This is what you will want, the Air Shield G. I was surprised with the comparative size difference from the Wave but the Shield is lightweight and flows air well. Mainly though it fits correctly and won't slide out of place.

I wouldnt risk it, my G2 fits pretty snugly into my Dianese jacket so if there is a discrepancy in the pocket size on the Shift jacket you will be out of luck. The G1 and G2 are specific to your height.5 months, 1 week ago

A G2 will fit 52 and up, while the G1 fits 52 and down. 52 is the cross-over size, so if you are a bit taller, go with the G2. It does cover a bit more then the Wave protector, however, it also feels a bit more bulky in my opinion.Age: 25-34
