Nice new set of shoes!
First I will qualify my no tread life response since I don't have many miles left on my NEW tire! Other than that my bike is a daily driver to and from work. Rain does not bother me at all and the wet traction is exceedingly good for my riding. I am much more comfortable going through the corners with the new rear tire. Much more grip! For a sport touring bike I would recommend this tire!

High quality, great grip
I'm running these on a 1975 Yamaha XS500. These tires came promptly; they are nice and heavy with good rubber. Installation was a little tricky, I think these tires run a bit wide. But once they were on the bike, they were a dream. Great handling, braking, and cornering. Nice and grippy and good in the rain. A good tire for people running older bikes and cafe-racer style bikes.

Excellent grip - good value
I'll revisit this review in a few thousand miles for tread wear. Aside from that i'm extremely happy with this tire as far as the grip and overall performance. I also got a rear tire and my bike runs smooth, quiet and handles extremely well. They're great.

Great tire. Fair price.
This will be my second (rear) AM26. My first is at 10,000 miles and still has a bit more meat until I reach the wear indicators. Great grip wet or dry. Recommended.

Awesome tires.
I've never rode on any tires other than Avon Roadriders so this is totally bias. I just got a new pair on my Bonneville SE and had to ride in the rain in NYC. Was nervous going over metal plates and sewer covers but these tires never lost grip in the rain. Excellent tires!

Changed my ride
These are a welcome change on my old Triumph. I was running "old style" tires and decided to switch to a more modern pattern. While these are actually a lower profile and slimmer than the old ones their grip is quite better, the bike feels nimbler and smoother and looks better too.

My Go-To Tire
I've gone through 2 pairs of these tires on my Bonneville. The only thing I have to compair them to is the stock Metzlers that came on the bike. These Avon's are by far the better tire when making that comparison. Grip is great, they look great, and I've found them pretty durable. They do wear a little faster than a harder, less sticky tire. But, that's to be expected when you trade grip for tire life. If you do good, well rounded riding, and keep the tire evenly worn, they'll last about 8000-10,000 miles on the rear, more on the front.

Great long life tire that never lets me down
The Pros:
When I bought my Bonneville, it had a set of Roadriders on it. After 12,000 miles, the rear one was needing to be replaced, and the front still had plenty of life in the tread, though the New Mexico sun and dry climate had began to crack the sidewall a bit. I ride all year long with little regard to weather, and I rarely have any issues with traction or grip, even in snow. In regard to sportier riding styles, I have been known to take corners with sport bikes and have been near the point of knee dragging with the Roadriders holding up swimmingly through it all.

The Cons:
These tires track on grooved roads. It is a bit unnerving at times, and becomes bothersome at around 85 mph. Tar snakes also result in tracking, wobbling, and instability at even low speeds. On wet roads, snakes are like slippery goo with these tires as well, so Avon hasn't solved this age old problem.

If you want a good tire for riding long distances and every day, the Avon Roadrider is for you.

touring tire
5000 miles so far, mix of twisties and 4 lane, just now showing wear in middle of tread, mounted on heavy touring bike towing a trailer, had been running Me880's and this Avon seems to have comprable wear durability, only been in moderate rain on straight roads so cannot comment on wet tractiion although wet traction seemed ok in those conditions

Perfect tire for an older classic race bike. Just wish they still made the front in a 16" so I could run a matched set of tires like I used to. Ran one of these with full luggage on a couple road trips. I have gotten around 6500 on a 1986 Honda VFR750. Great traction all the way over and fun on vintage bike track days.

It is the best tire for the newer Triumph Bonnevilles. It is going on our T100. It is better because it is bias ply and the Avon quality is built into it. In other words the tire is not lumpy.

Just bought a 1981 yamaha sr250 and need a new front tire. Currently has 3.00-18. Thinking I will need 90/90-18. Also needs to be a tubed tire. Any recommendations?
A S on May 31, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This is a great tire to upgrade older bikes, I run it on a 1976 Triumph Bonneville with a tube.
Can you put a tube in these tires to run on a spoked rim?
Jevon M on Aug 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I checked the Avon website and they say you can (can't post link here unfortunately). Read it and see for yourself, because I am no expert.
Is there a front or rear designation for these tires? i would be needing a 100/90-19 for my rear, and a 90 /90-18 for the front? If these are universal tires is there any special installation instructions or anything different that needs to be done for a tire to be ran in the front or rear???
A shopper on Nov 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: If it's universal it will be marked so. If so arrows on the sidewall slow the direction to mount for front or rear. Great tires BTW.
I have honda 71 cb750k rims, sizes:

Rear rim is 18 x 2.15
Front rim is 19 x 1.85,

which tire sizes would you recommend?,

originally that had
Front Tire Size, 3.25-19
Rear Tire Size, 4.00-18

i know a 350-19 tire size will still fit the front if you have.

appreciate your help.
thanks
A shopper on Dec 23, 2013
BEST ANSWER: There's a few guides out there to convert from old to new, a 3.25 is close to a 90 series and a 4 is like a 120. I would go bigger than the conversion as new tires tend to be slimmer and lower.
What compound dose this tyre come in?
A shopper on Sep 28, 2016
I have a '79 Yamaha XS400 with 18" spoke wheels. Which size would you recommend front and rear to replace?
- Front 3.00-18
- Rear 3.50-18
