One of the better options.
Gave it a 5 star b/c I don't know of another tire that's better for dual sport adventuring. I use them on a KLR 650 Long life, wears well, good traction on a wide variety of surfaces. Not great in slick mud/snow.

A great all around dual sport tire
These tires do a great job. I have them on my KLR650, which I rode to Canada and back last Summer, about 3500 miles. Whether I was on pavement or dirt roads I never worried about grip, stability, or handling. As for handling in wet conditions, I rode through a lot of rain, including a serious down pour with very high crosswinds in Eastern Idaho and the tires did outstanding. I have around 4500 miles on the set and have only used about half of the tread life.

Excellent choice of tires for the price
So far, very pleased with these tires. I have them on my KLR650, they look great and handle even better. I'm more of a conservative rider, but these tires have been great during the rain nonetheless. I'm hoping to get 8k-10k miles out of them.

Arctic Circle and Back
Just returned to central Californa from the circle in Alaska, 7500 mile round trip on one set of Gripsters on my KLR650. The rear tire is done, the front looks like it's got another 2000 mile left. Not having to change out tires on this trip was a big bonus. 1023 miles of this trip were on gravel roads, (Dempster, Dalton and Campbell Hwys). Certainly not a mud tire but they got us through those sections, too.

Great high mileage tire for a KLR trip to the Dalton Hwy in Alaska and back. Got about 9,000 miles out of the rear or mixed terrain which is fairly good for a heavily loaded KLR

I have used these tires a number of time on my KLR. My off-raod riding is limited to dirt roads with a little sand or mud and these tire work well in that format.
They last well on the street, even when loaded for touring.
Max (touring) 9,000+ on the rear.
Offer plenty of grip on California roads - I haven't ridden extensively in the wet, but I have ridden in the wet with no problem.

What is the weight loading and speed rating for the Avon Gripster 90/90-21 tyre offered on Revzilla?
Neil M on Jan 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Max load = 468 lbs at 36 psi. Not sure on the speed rating. I have a KLR, so speed isn't an issue hah.
I have a 2012 Yamaha WR250R. The OME rear is a 130/80 18. Will this 130/80 17 be compatible?
A shopper on May 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I had this tire on my kawasaki klr 650 it never made any loud noise and doesnt wear the tire out. Good tire for on road purpose. But for a dirt bike I would use a more off road tire. But over all the tire is a good tire
