On first impression, the Distanzia is aggressive looking and has a much different profile than a street tire - obviously. They also appear very heavy. Getting them out on the road during the break-in period did not inspire much confidence because they felt obnoxiously slippery and handling felt hindered by my slightly wider front tire - Mag Wheel Bonnies will need this. I was not impressed. I remember telling my wife, "I don't know how I'm going to like these tires."

After about 50 miles on the Distanzia I started to feel more grounded. Almost as if a switch flipped, these English beauties felt so sticky on the road and handled the same as my Metzler street tires in the corners. Overall, a win. However, I didn't stop here. The Distanzia handled perfectly on gravel and dirt roads, there are many in Oregon, and did splendidly in torrential downpours during freeway and city riding.
Overall, the only gripe I have is that long and funky break-in period. It is almost enough to make you say NO. But if you're patient and wait out those minuscule first miles, these are a match made in English rubber heaven.

I've gone through a few Distanzias and have always been impressed with its offroad capabilities. The tread life is pretty good and traction is excellent on and off the road. The tire preforms very predictably and provides enough confidence to push the bike through corners with speed. Great sumo tire. My only complaint is it seems like some batches run wide.

After these tires are broken in they are very sticky on the road in any condition and offer enough tread off road to hooligan around in the dirt. Great for an all around supermoto tire.

Great DO-ALL tire.
Tire does everything great so far.Commute to work from city, through country, and back into another town.
Have been in a couple rain storms and the tire stuck like glue.
Short 200 mile touring session for nachos-nice ride.
Overall the tire has given what I asked of it so far.

Good value for money
I recently bought this tire and I am happy to say that is great. Although I haven't used it too much (less than 1000 miles on it), I am extremely satisfied with it and I would highly recommend it to street adventure riders.

Bruce L: Riding my DRZ400 SM mainly on 'dirty', bumpy back roads (my favorite kind), I needed a sporty, street biased dual sport tire. The Distanzia fits the bill about perfectly. Slides are predictable and gravel at the apex of corners no longer causes the kind of anxiety that I sometimes felt with more aggressive sport tires.May 5, 2014
A S asked:I see that this is listed as a tubeless tire. Can it be run with a tube on my DR-Z400SM?May 7, 2014
A shopper asked:Do you have a video break down for the Avon tire for a supermoto? If not do you have any recommendations? Not looking for a track tire. Need for hard riding on paved mountain roads. Drz 400smMar 6, 2014
Adam T:I've had a couple sets on my 06 KLR650. They are a great tire for the pavement and last well. A lot of super moto's run these tires if that tells you anything. I would highly recommend these tires for your style of riding. Hope this helps you!Mar 7, 2014
STEVE E:'06 KTM 625 SMC-Have it on the rear and it works great. Will be getting a front in the upcoming month.Holds the road while on the throttle in all weather conditions.Dry,wet, and yes, even snow.Mar 7, 2014
A shopper asked:I have a question about fitment and sizing. I have a 2014 DRZ-400SM and my stock tire size is 140/70/17 and i was wondering if running the 150/60/17 I would run into fitment issues? Would this make any difference with changing from the stock size?May 25, 2014
Eric C:The swingarm has plenty of room for the 150/60/17, but some Avon's do run wide and can lead to some chain rub with a 150. Usually this is on the 400S, with the 400SM doing a little better since the chain slider has fins to keep the chain in line.May 29, 2014
A shopper asked:Hi Has any one fitted these to Versys 650? I ride most on tarmac roads 95%, but some times cut through on dirt tracks. I'm not an aggressive rider but do get a move on when I can, need confidence in a tyre in the cold +2 ~ +10°C and wet. Original Dunlops D221 (Dunflops) front let go in wet damp and below 10°C. (Brown trousers sir?: no they were blue!)
Other options: Conti trail attack, Road Only: Conti road attack, Avon storm 2 extreme, storm 3D XM, Michelin Pilot road 3 / 4, Pirelli Anget ST/GT.
Any opinions would be great.
