right boot, right choice I own a C109RT Suzuki and love this boot. My trips are on an average of 2 to 4 hrs and the S-MX2 is a good buy. No laces, just a zipper, velcro and a buckle lets you get in and out of this boot quickly. Very comfortable, so if needed you can stay in this boot all day. They're not heavy or bulky but still offer great protection. Alpinestars did a good job on this one. I did some research and commend RevZilla for the great video breaking down this boot. I had no problem with the sizing. For me it was spot on. Looking forward to many more cruises. September 27, 2014
Nice Boot! I did a lot of research before I purchased. I ride everyday as a commuter and spirited rides on the weekend. I wear a 10 1/2 US, a 44 fits perfect. Style is very nice goes well with my jeans, I stop at the grocery or convenience store on the way home from work and no one looks at me like I am Darth Vader! Felt great walking in them out of the box. Protection, Nice ankle support and toe box, shifting feel is positive. Kind of warm in the Texas Sun, not unbearable though. Overall Happy! August 6, 2014
Comfy and stylish boot The S-MX2s are really comfortable straight away. I was very happy with them on my first ride. Well done Revzilla I received my boots in Australia five days after I placed my order - really good service. July 14, 2014
Great low boot! I have a tough time buying shoes, boots, etc on line because I have wide feet. I wear an 11 EE-EEEE (depending on the make). I had a good buy from Revzilla with a A-Stars boot but had to send them back for the next size up. The EU 46 fit wonderfully and I love them, but I was in the market for something a little lower for commuting and shorter rides, a little easier to put on and take off. I ordered a different pair that were narrow then not available in larger size, had to send them back. Shopping again I found these and ordered a pair in the hopeful same size 46. The fit was perfect right out of the box! Definitely roomy and wide. Absolutely perfect for me. So much so I suggest a size down of you tend toward a smaller fit. I would have given all Excellents but can't yet say on the Protection and Durability. Highly recommend, especially for fellow duck feet :-) June 2, 2014
great boots I will make sure that I come back to this site and place an ordwe May 26, 2014
Great Short Boot I was wanting some boots to throw on when running errands or just cruising town without having to wear tennis shoes. These fit the bill. I really love the ankle movement up and down when walking. The ankle movement is actually what sold me on these shoes over all the others. Very very comfortable. The only downside to these boots is the airflow, but I guess that's why they make the mx-1. Still, a scoop on the side of this boot like the Sidi's would be a nice feature. May 10, 2014
good product if you remember these are a glorified tennis shoe I HAVE ADDED PICTURES OF FITMENT. first off the cheap plastic buckle on the shoe is just alpine stars cutting corners and thats always a bad sign. ive heard people refer to these as a boot. they are most definitely not a boot. there is no ankle support or protection. and these will not do you any more good than a pair of basketball shoes would do you in the event of a crash. my biggest problem with them however, was not being able to tighten down the shoe around my ankle. im trying out the JoeRocket 3.0 next. now, for a fair review. the smx-2 are a comfortable good quality product (besides the brittle thin ratchet strap) if you remember these are a pair of overpriced glorified tennis shoe; nothing more. order exactly 1 size smaller for a correct fit. Big feet?? This ones for you! I wanted a boot I could wear while riding aggressively on the track, but one I could also slip into the office without my coworkers thinking I live in the matrix. Comfortable and stylish the steel rod base and the incredible ankle support with rachet adjustment makes you feel safe and warm and cuddly... in your boots that is, because elsewhere you are an epic figure of dark awesomeness. But really with these boots on, walking is as easy as shifting. The shift pad helps a lot, I can't count how many shifts I missed last season but these measure perfectly. My biggest concern was sizing. I'm a size 15 in most shoes and really wanted a sleek look SIDI esque boot with slightly less flash and a comfortable for for a wider foot fit for a guy like myself. To my pleasant surprise the 50 needed no breaking at all. I'd have to say as a true 14Wide or 15Medium in shoe size these are spot on. Looks and cost are about on par for a boot with great breathability, durability, ridability, and safety features. My ONLY complaint is that the ratcheting system is scary secure sometimes almost feeling like I have to apply excessive force to open it. Though, not necessarily a bad thing. Hope I was helpful! Ray D: Because Alpinestars is a quality brand and these boots are highly recommended. Jun 25, 2014
MELVIN H: I chose these because of the prince, the reviews and the look. They are very comfortable. My only issue is they need another strap-down ratchet latch below the one manufactured--which should be up a little higher, which would really offer a tight grip. I bought another pair after these, which were discontinued on Revzilla but that I found on another website, which had a two-strap ratchet system and fit superbly with great support! May 1, 2014

A shopper asked: Measured on a Brannock Devise (foot measure) I am a true US 9D. However, I find that I often need an 8.5 in shoes without laces to prevent heal slipping. I currently wear a pair of AlpineStar One O One riding shoes. They are lace ups and the US size 9 fit perfectly. But since these shoes don't have laces and since the European to US chart doesn't shot a conversion for 8.5, I'm not sure what size to order. Should I go with the 42 which Revzilla says is like a US 8 or go with the 43 which Revzilla says is like a 9 to 9.5?

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

A s: Greetings,

I checked all of my daily wear shoes and I wear a US size 9. Each pair of shoes fit comfortably throughout the day. Having said this, I own two pairs of Alpinestars footwear.

1) Alpinestars miglia shoes - The tag says US 9 / EU 42. These shoes fit perfectly, as if they were custom made for me.

2) Alpinestars S-MX 2 Boots - The tag says US 6.5 / EU 40 These shoes also fit perfectly, as if they were custom made for me.

So, my conclusion is that the Alpinestars sizing chart for the shoes differs from the boots. I would go for a size EU 40 / 41 in the S-MX 2 Boots...

Hope this helps.

James M: I'm a US 9.5 D to 10 D depending on the shoe style, consistently a 42 Euro. If I remember correctly, Revzilla recommends going up one size which I did. A 43 fits me perfectly with no slippage. The buckle strap adjusts to pull your foot back in the shoe...no need for laces. Once the buckle strap is adjusted, the shoe goes on and comes off by only unzipping the side zipper.

Probably a 42 would fit you just fine.

Hope this helps.

Saed Z: These boots run small !!! I wear a size 10.5 shoe (US) and ordered the size 44 which according to the conversion chart would be a 9.5 (US) and the boots fit me perfectly. I'm glad I didn't follow the conversation chart or I would have ended up with boots that were too large.

Jeffrey H: I think you'll find the 43 to be the best fit. I've had problems with heel slippage in other shoes, but no problem with these. I wear 9 in dress shoes and 9.5 in tennis shoes. I have a narrow foot. Hope this helps. I've really enjoyed these boots Oct 16, 2013

Saed Z: Sorry in my previous reply I meant to say the boots run large not small. I would order 1 size down from what the Alpinestar chart recommends. Oct 15, 2013

Alejandro R asked: To those of you who are a size 13 shoe, what size did you order these boots in, 47 or 48? Apr 14, 2014

Dan C: Dude. Order both and return one. It's Revzilla, bro. Apr 15, 2014

James M: Don't know whether or not this will help, but Revzilla recommended 1 Euro size up from my norm...43 when my norm is 42. The shoe fits perfectly and very comfortable. I would buy again.
Based upon my experience with the smaller sizes above and where a 13 US size falls on Alpinestars' chart, I think you need to order a 49 (since a 13 falls between a 48 and 49 on the chart).
Hope this helps.

Datwan H asked: SMX 1 or the SMX 2?? Looking for something that's comfortable on and off the bike but also has a good amount of protection. I live In Florida and the SMX 1 seems like it would have better air flow but SMX 2 appears a bit beefier thus being more productive. Thanks in advance. Mar 20, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Saed Z: The SMX 2 is a much higher quality boot. The entire boot is leather and has an ankle buckle like a ski boot instead of the cheaper quality leather/mesh combo and cheap velcro strap found on the SMX 1. It will also offer much better protection if you get caught in the rain. Sizing runs big so keep that in mind when you order. I am a true size 10.5 (U.S) and I ordered the size 44 and they fit perfectly even though Alpinestar chart indicates that it would be equivalent to a 9.5 (U.S) so make sure to order a full U.S. size down from what you would normally wear. Lawrence H: I went through the same thing. I bought the S-MX 1 for the same reason -- I live in Florida too. You do feel the airflow on the top of your foot where it's the "mesh" material on the S-MX-1. I did try the S-MX 2 on and they are beefier (I do like the moto-X type buckle) but the airflow on the S-MX 1 was the winner for me. Walked around during Daytona Bike Week with them, no problems, at least for me. Bottom line, you can't go wrong with either boot. Mar 20, 2014

Marcelo F: I never tried the SMX-1 But I am very please with the SMX -2. I use them the whole year summer or winter. They are very comfortable and provide a good feeling (very close to the feeling of a competition boot). Of course you would prefer a boot with better air flow for the summer but this one can stand hot weather acceptably. Mar 21, 2014

A shopper asked: Is this boot fine for wide feet? Nov 2, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
AliB: Alpinestars boots tend to run slightly narrow and especially in their sport-boot line up. If you have very wide feet, you might want to look at a TCX boot, which tend to run wider than Alpinestars. As WallE replied below, if your foot width is no wider than a 4E, these should work for you. Nov 11, 2011
Reply to AliB Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
KenS: Absolutely. Compared to other A-Star boots I would say this one has a wide width which forced me to go down one size. If you have wide feet you should be good to go. Jun 5, 2012

WallE: yes this boot works well for people with wide feet. I usually wear an 11 2E up to a 4E in shoes and I have had no problems with this boot being tight. Nov 8, 2011

derek h: The boots do run a full size larger. I wear a size US 10 1/2 so I ordered the euro size 44.. The box says the US size in the 44 is 9 1/2. but they fit perfect so in actuality they are a 10 1/2. Hope that helps.... Jul 19, 2014

A shopper asked: I wear a 7.5 to 8 in woman's sizes. What would the equivalent men's size be for me? May 1, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Chris K: A 7.5-8 in womens would be a 6-6.5 in mens, so that converts to a 38-38.5 in European. Typically mens shoes fit wider than womens, so even though the 38 is on the small side, it should compensate for a thinner foot. May 2, 2011
Reply to Chris Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Jake D: Normally the size difference is about 1.5 sizes. So you're 7.5= a 6 in mens. Unfortunately I doubt that you would fit them! May 4, 2011

A shopper asked: Is the Buckle on the SMX-2 Boot metal on metal or metal on plastic? Jun 9, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (1)
Matt01SS: The buckle is metal on plastic. There is a metal cylinder within a plastic latch that locks onto another tough plastic piece to hold it in place. Oct 10, 2011

KenS: The buckle is all plastic but very robust. There is no major stress on it so I don't suspect that it will fail over time. Jun 5, 2012
