short glove but with a little extra protection on the sides. fit great, good protection, lots of attention to detail, and seem to be well made. i normally get a medium, and the medium fits right. i can get them on with glove liners on too. they broke in after a long afternoon ride. the palms bunch up less than other gloves i've had when holding the grips, which helps with comfort and control. that may be where the extra $50 went, b/c these are pricier than similar gloves. i'm glad i spent the extra $$$.

As soon as I put these on, I knew I wouldn't need to break them in. So I promptly did a 300 mile ride. These are by far the most comfortable motorcycle gloves I've ever worn!
They do get clammy in the humid, 85 deg F summer heat -- but that's a compromise worth making for the protection these gloves will hopefully offer in a crash. On the other end of the thermometer, these gloves are too vented for air temps below 70 deg F. Moreover, because they don't have full gauntlets and are half-open at the wrists, they do allow air to flow up your jacket sleeves.
Like all the AStars gloves I own, I had to order at least 1 size up to accommodate the length of my fingers. With other brands, I'm a solid size M. With AStars, depending on the model, I wear L or XL. My fingertips still touch the inside of these size-L gloves, but the material and internal seams are so soft, I don't find it annoying.

I wear an XL in a similar Revvit & a L in this AStars glove so it runs a little bigger. Great glove, slightly more full fitting than a tradaitional short glove.

Impressed w/ the fit and finish of the glove. Previous reviews of this glove were spot on. Took about a week to break it in and now it fits like a second skin. All of the features of a full glove in a 3/4 short glove. Padding on wrist doesn't get in the way and comfortably rides over any sleeve cuff.

I have owned these for a few months now and are pretty good gloves. I got these because I wanted a short glove but didn't want crazy short for the summer time. These are the perfect length and really wish more companies would make a 3/4 glove like this. For air flow the vents are functional, but the flap they are attached to has another layer under it so they are not really moving any air in the actual part that your hand goes in which is kind of a bummer.
Quality wise they seem to be holding up pretty good, I have seen people complain about the velcro system which does seem like it would be a pain if you had bigger wrists or skinnier, but I always wear a jacket and with the jacket on they gloves go over the cuffs and takes away the little extra room I have without a jacket on.
Other than that they are the typical quality glove you get from Alpinestar. I am hoping they last me a few season, but we will see after this summer.

Received my S1 gloves today... All I can say is WOW! I wore the SPX previously, I opt for one size up because the SPX lasted me 6 months only before the seams started to break apart. these are BEEFY!! time will tell.. Feels stiff from new.. I guess after a few sessions of rippin, they'll be fine..
