Alpinestars Commuter Pack Backpack
This pack has plenty of space for a commuter. I can fit a change of clothes, my lunch, and my laptop with room to spare.
Pros: lots of space, good quality construction (Alpinestars), doesn't throw me off balance in the turns.
Cons: The waterproof zippers are take a bit more care to zip up than normal zippers.

Very impressive with a flaw
I was quite impressed with the quality of the bag and imagine i'll use it for a long time. The only problem i have with it is that it is pretty hard to open the primary zipper due to the waviness of the zipper as it intersects with some seams. An inconvenience I will take as the rest of the bag is great.

Daily communter backpack
This Astars backpack is the perfect commuter backpack for me. I normally use it as a day back and am able to fit in the following items with ease:
1. Gym shoes
2. Gym clothes + small water bottle
3. Clear/Smoke visor in a separate visor bag (not included in this purchase).
4.A takeout falafel wrap or sammich on my way back to work from Gym.
5. Important documents or a thin laptop in the laptop sleeve.
6. Electronics, disck lock, ipod, tire pressure monitor , basic tools.
I didn't think much of the looks when I purchased the backpack. But I've received several compliments on the finish and the aerodynamic shape of this backpack.
-The side pockets have this hardshell like cover. Full thumbs up for that.
-The zippers storage in the front is awesome!
-The interirors are all black. So eventhough there are so many, i stress "so many" pockets that you'll never be able to fill. When it comes to finding things , it could be quite a task if you lose track.
- The Main compartment zippers I've give up hope on. They're really hard to zip and unzip unless you position your hand tangential to the zippers. They could make the zippers a lot smoothers.

Excellent Commuter Pack!
I am a daily commuter and was looking for something that was better then the 3 normal laptop backs I had been using. I wear full gear to work over my business dress clothes, so I carry my shoes, belt, etc. in my bag. Normal laptops worked, but they were heavy and not comfortable when loaded down. Since I have started carrying this bag it's made a world of difference. I have it stuffed full and when I'm riding it distributes the weight so well I don't worry about how heavy it is. I have also been caught in a heavy downpour while wearing this "with my laptop in the bag" and when I got home it was bone dry on the inside. Honestly I expected it to be water resistant, but not actually waterproof, so I was pleasantly surprised!
Ride, fit and comfort, waterproof, design and looks are all fantastic features of this bag. Functionality of stuffing the bag takes a little bit to get used too. There are a TON of pockets in this thing! I've been stuffing it for a month and yesterday I discovered 2 new pockets. The large opening is nice, but like I said, it takes a bit of getting used too to pack. The base is the largest part and narrows as it goes up. Putting my dress shoes in they have to go heel down at the bottom, than start filling the pockets with the rest of your stuff. Yes, it will hold a lot of stuff too! The laptop pocket is nice too. I have my 15.5" laptop in the pocket as well as my portfolio, which is at least 3/4 to an inch thick.
All in all I would recommend this to anyone who is a commuter or carries anything in a normal backpack. It's really comfortable, aerodynamic, holds everything you need and is waterproof. I would buy this again and again!

Great bag for travel or everyday commute! Love the quality and the many internal pockets/compartments!! Zippers are stiff but that's understandable due to making them weatherproof and secure. Bag was bigger than expected but perfect size for traveling out of town or packing it with gym stuff. I also like that the waiststrap can be tucked away when not in use, making the bag easy to toss on and off!!... The tear drop shape is also good for sportbike riders and stops drag. Very aerodynamic!

Great commuter bag
This bag is everything I expected it would be, I live in AZ and commute 30 miles one way on my R6.
So far its held up great during an AZ monsoon even with the head phones coming out of the designated port, Iphone stayed nice and dry.
I have a 15in laptop and its fits great! its a bit trickey getting in, I do wish the opening was larger, you do have to slide in your laptop side ways then shimmy it in, taking it out is a breeze!... getting it in can be cumbersome until you get use to it.
i have all my work stuff in this bag including a hat and extra shirt. plenty of room to spare, people complain about the zippers but their waterproof...and might be hard for a child?
all in all its a great waterproof back pack for work, I've even came home pulled out my laptop and went and grabbed some small groceries.
I would recommend this to anyone with a laptop and commutes where it could potentially rain.

Excellent General Purpose Backpack
I've owned this backpack for a few months now and use it as a commuter pack (surprise). I wanted a backpack that met the following criteria:
-decent storage space w/ laptop compartment
-easy strap system
It meets these requirements pretty well. I've been through several heavy showers while riding and no moisture has seeped in, which was my biggest concern. I don't care for the rain, but I want to be able to ride without worrying about the weather.
The storage space is decent enough. I keep a clear visor, sweater, first aid kit, CO2 tire inflator, and a couple office utensils in the pack at all times, and there is a pocket or compartment for everything imaginable. Fortunately, the pockets and compartments do not intrude on the main space, and I can fit three days of clothes in the pack if I'm spending the night elsewhere. The laptop compartment is a separate padded compartment accessible from a zipper that runs along the side of the pack, so while the main compartment may be full, there is always space in there.
The shoulder straps are padded and comfortable. A feature I use a lot is the left strap has a quick pull/release tab that makes getting the pack on and off easier when wearing armor. Very nice feature.
The back portion of the pack has a padded, labyrinth-like design, which keeps the majority of the pack off your back and allows for cooling. It works decently well, probably much better than if it didn't have anything. On hot days you'll still sweat against the back, but you won't notice it as being uncomfortably warm.
The two things I would change on this backpack:
1) As mentioned by several other reviewers, the seals on the zippers make for a tight fit. This is not normally an issue, except when trying to zip around a curve (think main pocket). The zipper can sometimes get a little stuck, and you either have to just yank it, or use two hands and help it along. Not ideal, but I've become accustomed to it, and if that is the price for being rainproof, that's fine.
2) I wish it had a helmet carrier of some sort. I have not tried putting my helmet in the pack (it may in fact fit), but that would defeat the use of storage space.
All in all, great backpack. It is holding up very well to use, and I don't foresee myself looking for another pack anytime soon.

I've used the backpack a couple times, the zippers are a little tight but I guess that's the price for having it water resistant. I haven't tested the water resistance yet but it looks like it should be good. Straps a adjustable in every way so it can adapt to many sizes of people's build.
