Shoei Qwest Prestige Helmet

The Shoei Qwest Motorcycle Helmet was built with a focus on minimizing helmet weight, optimizing fit for comfort and protection and lowering noise levels to bring a new level of comfort to touring helmets. Featuring a slightly round oval internal shape, the Qwest helmet is manufactured with 4 individual shell sizes to keep the helmet as low-profile as possible. The smaller the helmet shell, the lighter the helmet weight. The Shoei Qwest Helmet also uses the Shoei's CW-1 visor technology with the Q.R.S.A system. This system guarantees a tight seal at the faceshield  by pulling the shield back to contact the opening seal evenly. The Qwest also touts an extra-wide viewport for additional peripheral vision so you can more easily take in the world around you.

Aerodynamic Shell Design:

  • Aerodynamic properties are maximized through extensive wind tunnel and feedback from professional riders
  • Dual-Layer EPS liner enhances impact absorption and ventilation
  • Four shell and six EPS liner sizes increase fit options that help to comfortably fit most head sizes
  • Molded air spoiler reduces drag and lift as well as diminishes weight pressure on the neck while riding at high speeds

Ventilation System:

  • Upper Air Intake Vent is positioned to maximize air volume into the helmet interior
  • Large upper intake vent positioned to maximize performance in high wind conditions
  • Easy to operate large lower intake vent
  • Lower air intake/defroster vent reduces shield fogging and increases ventilation
  • Rear/neck outlets allow for effective air exhaust
  • Breath guard and chin curtain are included

Lightweight Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus (AIM+):

  • High performance fiber materials are combined with extremely elastic organic fibers to create a shell structure that is ultra lightweight, rigid and resilient

  • 3D center pad and multi-layered, polyurethane foam cheek pads
  • Cheek pads are replaceable or removable for maintenance
  • Eyeglass-compatible interior
  • Standard chin strap clip neatly secures chin strap

CW-1 Shield and Q.R.S.A. System:

  • Q.R.S.A. (Quick-Release Self-Adjusting) base plate allows for tool-less shield removal and installation
  • Spring-loaded base plate pulls the shield back to contact the window beading evenly and ensures a proper seal
  • Scratch-resistant coating
  • 99.9% protection from harmful UV A and B rays
  • Optional, CWF-1 two-dimensional Pinlock equipped racing shields with tear-off posts are available (sold separately)
  • Optional, CW-1 Pinlock prepared shields are available to accommodate Pinlock Fog Free Inserts (sold separately)
  • The CW-1, three-dimensionally curved shield is both wider and taller than the CX-1V it replaces
  • A pre-set lever can easily lock the shield in place to prevent the shield from opening unexpectedly, as well as prop the shield open to increase airflow

Additional Features:

  • Construction: AIM+ (Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus Multi Fiber)
  • Weight: 3.644 lbs / 1,653 grams (approx, for Size Medium)
  • Standards: Snell-M2010, DOT

Shoei Qwest Prestige Helmet 4.6 5 479 479
A solid helmet with beautiful design I had my eye on this helmet ever since it was on clearance here and was just waiting to save up the extra money to purchase it. I had an HJC CL-17 and wanted an upgrade, and also was giving my other helmet to my girlfriend so she could join me on my rides. The pros: - The design is amazing on this helmet. The pictures do it no justice. - With a light design, longer rides are less strain on the neck and it is overall more comfortable to wear. - Ventilation is good when moving (I have the CW-1 face shield that I purchased and haven't used the stock one based on previous reviews regarding fogging). A little fog when stopped at times but immediately goes away when you start to move again. - Fitment is excellent for a regular oval shaped head in my opinion. - A mesh wind protector is included. - Very simple to remove and install the face shield. - Many detents in the face shield allow different positions for various types of riding. The cons: - The head liner is not removable so wiring my Sena 3s was a pain. For this price point that should definitely be a feature. There are not many bad things to say about this helmet. Again, I purchased a separate face shield so I cannot comment on the stock face shield and it's fogging issues that other reviews have stated. Lastly, 'Murica - June 29, 2015
Best helmet I have ever used. I love this helmet. Add in Uclear 200 and it is the best I have ever worn. This is the second Shoei Qwest helmet that i have purchased, and the design... MERICA!!! Only fault I can think of it not including a wiper to get rid of the bugs that miss my windscreen... June 10, 2015
Nice helmet I'm glad I got this helmet on sale. I'm new to riding and all my friends said I should get a Shoei. I bought one other helmet when I first got my bike, and then this one. It's not nearly as quiet as I had hoped, but it's more manageable with earplugs than my other. I did notice a huge improvement in my ability to move my head without the helmet flopping around. All in all I'm impressed with it, especially with its looks. June 10, 2015
Amazing performance Great helmet. You get what you pay for, works well in heat/cold. Lots of lens options. Ability to open the lens at any angle, also can add a bluetooth system without issue. June 27, 2015
Beautiful helmet. Fits perfectly. Love this helmet. Great looking helmet with an exceptional fit. Great price for a Shoei. Good for novice or experienced riders. June 23, 2015
Excellent Helmet I bought the helmet after fitting at the retail store. The salesman was excellent, with great knowledge of the helmets and good advice on proper fitting. This helmet is a great fit for me, and the vision is excellent--I thought my old helmet had clear vision, this one is much better. Also bought a replacement tinted visor which I easily installed and it cuts sun glare without reducing vision clarity. A GREAT helmet at a great price, saved me $$ over what I had been considering. THANKS! June 22, 2015
Overall a great helmet I upgraded from a different brand's hi-viz helmet to this Qwest Overt. Things I like: 1. The brand name. 2. It is very comfortable and light. 3. It looks great with my hi-viz Tour Master Sonora Air Jacket. 4. I think the paint quality on the Shoei is very good. The paint on the competitor's helmet started to flake off after a few months but they said I'd been dropping the helmet (not!). Funny that another brand new competitor's helmet still on the shelf at the local bike shop where I bought my helmet had bubbles in the paint ready to flake off. 5. The shield stays firmly in place when I open it a notch or two. A few things I'm not too crazy about: 1. The Qwest shield fogs up pretty easily, enough so that at any temperature under about 60F I have to leave the shield open a bit. 2. The snap to hold the excess chin strap can be a bit of a pain. It always takes me a bit of fussing around to get the strap snapped. 3. Even with all the vents open the air flow feels pretty marginal. 4. The top interior padding leaves three deeps furrows in my hair at the top of my head by the time I get to work, which leads to a bit of wise-guy comments from some of my colleagues. Of course none of them wear a helmet so I can deal with the teasing. That's about it for the cons. Overall I'm glad I bought this helmet. June 16, 2015
Satisfied Overall, I'm satisfied with this helmet. It is my first one though, so I don't have much to compare it to. it is comfortable and I can fit my glasses comfortably under the face shield. I do get a whistling sound in the helmet and I find that the face shield fogs up frequently. The face shields are very easy to change out when switching from tinted to clear. The helmet is fairly lightweight and is pretty quiet (although my bike is not a very loud one to begin with). June 15, 2015

A shopper asked: I have an Arai Signet Q in XL that's fits like a glove. It appears I have a long oval shaped head. Would this Shoei helmet fit good for me? Jan 10, 2015

Ventura G: Probable, but i can't tell you yes or no, my recommendation to you is to buy the helmet and tried, that's the only way my friend if it's not comfortable or it didn't fit you, you can always returned, but not only that thy have a size chart so you can size your self and it's pretty accurate. good luck Jan 11, 2015

CHRISTOPHER G: that is a tough question to answer , each helmet fits differently , my best answer would be to try them on to see which one fits the best. I have the Arai Signet Q in an xl and i have the Shoei in an extra large they fit me fine Feb 9, 2015

JOHN L: Thanks Derek, great advice. Jan 10, 2015
A shopper asked: Am considering the Prestige or Overt, primarily because of pretty good prices on close-outs for a high quality helmet. My concern/question though is HOW OLD are the actual helmets on close-out? If my reading/research is right, five years is the safety cutoff, past which point it's possible (probable?) some of the materials can begin to delaminate or degrade in some way, compromising protection levels. Overt was new in 2011; Prestige in 2012. If the Overts are actually four years old or the Prestiges three years, not sure they're much of a value regardless of discounts. Thx in advance for any info ... Feb 5, 2015

Michael S: I bought the quest prestige helmet in December 2014. I can't speak as to the safety or degradation in the materials used, but as far as the finish is concerned, there is no delimitation and the helmet looks like it just came off the assembly line. Maybe the folks at Revzilla should take one of these older helmets and put it through a crash test for us to find out! That would be a good video. Feb 9, 2015

Dennis M: You have a good point. This is one reason why stores will blow certain products such as helmets out, because of this supposed shelf life. On my Qwest Prestige I found a sticker that indicated a manufacture date of 09/12. But I did not hesitate to buy this helmet. The materials are flawless, the finish is flawless and I have no doubt that it will protect me if it ever came down to that. I would take this SNELL 2010 Shoei over a made in 2015 LS2 or HJC any day!

Frankly I think this 5 year shelf life thing is more marketing than anything. I think if well cared for an excellent helmet like this Shoei Qwest can last for 7 years. Having said that, if I were to drop it from a height of 4 feet or higher I would be replacing it. But the same could be said for a helmet made in 2015!

Bottom line, I am so glad I bought this lid! I have a RF-1100, a Neotech and this Qwest Prestige and the Qwest is my favorite by far. Hope this helps.

Demetrios V: Mine was 2 years old and if you average it out it's about $100 a year. So if you buy a new one at $500 for 5 years it's the same. Buy what fits you perfectly first then what you like, then what you can afford. Feb 10, 2015

A shopper asked: Does the helmet fit like the Rf-1200? May 4, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kevin B: Similar fit but the shell of the Qwest is a hair larger or bigger around in the front jaw and chin area. It's just enough that my communicator mic sits in the helmet but out of my mouth. The RF1200 is just enough different that a mic doesn't fit in there correctly. Also, the vents on the RF1200 are for riding in a more "aggressive" position. I ride a geeser glider and sit upright. The vents work great!

One more thing: Stock Harley MoCo communicator speakers DO FIT into the lil hollowed out speaker hole (I read about another rider on here that had problems w/ it). Both me and my gf use the quest and our MoCo speakers fit perfect.

Comfortable. Quiet. & Light. GREAT HELMET!!!
