Shoei Qwest Prestige Helmet

The Shoei Qwest Motorcycle Helmet was built with a focus on minimizing helmet weight, optimizing fit for comfort and protection and lowering noise levels to bring a new level of comfort to touring helmets. Featuring a slightly round oval internal shape, the Qwest helmet is manufactured with 4 individual shell sizes to keep the helmet as low-profile as possible. The smaller the helmet shell, the lighter the helmet weight. The Shoei Qwest Helmet also uses the Shoei's CW-1 visor technology with the Q.R.S.A system. This system guarantees a tight seal at the faceshield  by pulling the shield back to contact the opening seal evenly. The Qwest also touts an extra-wide viewport for additional peripheral vision so you can more easily take in the world around you.

Aerodynamic Shell Design:

  • Aerodynamic properties are maximized through extensive wind tunnel and feedback from professional riders
  • Dual-Layer EPS liner enhances impact absorption and ventilation
  • Four shell and six EPS liner sizes increase fit options that help to comfortably fit most head sizes
  • Molded air spoiler reduces drag and lift as well as diminishes weight pressure on the neck while riding at high speeds

Ventilation System:

  • Upper Air Intake Vent is positioned to maximize air volume into the helmet interior
  • Large upper intake vent positioned to maximize performance in high wind conditions
  • Easy to operate large lower intake vent
  • Lower air intake/defroster vent reduces shield fogging and increases ventilation
  • Rear/neck outlets allow for effective air exhaust
  • Breath guard and chin curtain are included

Lightweight Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus (AIM+):

  • High performance fiber materials are combined with extremely elastic organic fibers to create a shell structure that is ultra lightweight, rigid and resilient

  • 3D center pad and multi-layered, polyurethane foam cheek pads
  • Cheek pads are replaceable or removable for maintenance
  • Eyeglass-compatible interior
  • Standard chin strap clip neatly secures chin strap

CW-1 Shield and Q.R.S.A. System:

  • Q.R.S.A. (Quick-Release Self-Adjusting) base plate allows for tool-less shield removal and installation
  • Spring-loaded base plate pulls the shield back to contact the window beading evenly and ensures a proper seal
  • Scratch-resistant coating
  • 99.9% protection from harmful UV A and B rays
  • Optional, CWF-1 two-dimensional Pinlock equipped racing shields with tear-off posts are available (sold separately)
  • Optional, CW-1 Pinlock prepared shields are available to accommodate Pinlock Fog Free Inserts (sold separately)
  • The CW-1, three-dimensionally curved shield is both wider and taller than the CX-1V it replaces
  • A pre-set lever can easily lock the shield in place to prevent the shield from opening unexpectedly, as well as prop the shield open to increase airflow

Additional Features:

  • Construction: AIM+ (Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus Multi Fiber)
  • Weight: 3.644 lbs / 1,653 grams (approx, for Size Medium)
  • Standards: Snell-M2010, DOT

Learning As I Go Starting from scratch on a motorcycle has a very steep learning curve. All that staying upright, using one hand for clutch, the other to brake while the left foot changes gears while the right one is busy doing some braking, takes a while before it comes naturally. Signaling, counter steering, tight slow turns, loose gravel in tight turns at speed, and my favorite- wet, scored roadway under construction in a heavy crosswind. Then of course there are lots of other vehicles, most of which contain distracted drivers without a clue who, or what is around them. Then there is gear. What do I want? What is mandatory? How should it fit? How much does it cost? What level of protection am I comfortable with? Where should I buy it? How much does it cost? What size do I need? How much does it cost? I am leaving out completely what bike I shall I purchase, another whole paragraph. Turns out through trial and error, through my developing comfort level, that I am ATGATT. And I want good gear. That fits. Here is where I get to the Shoei Qwest helmet. I didn't know what size helmet to get. An XXL seemed to fit fine and the GMax I got was fine. Until I was told it was way too loose. I moved down in size and up in price to a Shoei Air in XL. Again seemed fine, until it wasn't. A State Trooper checked my fit and declared it too loose again. Bigger cheek pads didn't help. This Shoei Qwest uses four different shell sizes to allow a better fit. I got a size L and it fits great. Tight but not strangling. And the Qwest is light, quiet, and comfortable. Now I know what a motorcycle helmet is supposed to feel like with a proper fit. I feel secure with this helmet on. I recommend this helmet heartily. I recommend proper sizing even more. Well-Rounded Helmet - They did a good job of making a hi-viz product stylish. - I found that the visor fogs up easily in the cold, but there are many solutions to this such as using the visor lock to crack it open a little bit. - The shape is definitely a little rounder than my head, but this is as advertised. Really loud and only good for upright sitting for some reason its really loud and has alot of wind noise. if you ride a sport bike I don't suggest you buying especially in the tuck. its honestly not worth the price at all. I don't suggest you buy this helmet. I've been riding 4 years. good helmet for its comfort and safety but you can get so much more with a different helmet that costs less. November 12, 2014
best bang for your buck I have 2 shoei quests, also have a new rf1200, the quest is hands down a better deal. it is quieter, just about as light, it feels more aerodynamic at speed, not quite as good of venting , but still plenty for hot weather, face shield system is easier to use that the new system on the rf1200. GoodLooking Protection I had a Shoei RF700 in the old days and more recntly was wearing a 3/4 HJC. I wanted to go back to a Shoei as I knew the fit, sound protection, visor system, and flat out protection are superior. I had an unfortunate get off while wearing my RF700 and it for sure saved by noggin and life. This helmet is no different. The fit is exactly what I had expected with it being snug but comfortable. The padding is also excellent at supressing the wind noise. It handles this better than my old RF700. The shield system is the best I've seen in the helmet market. With a simple push you can crack the bottom edge of the shield which will keep fogging at bay during cold temps. The shield also easily stays in place with each of the ratchet positions. Speaking of cold temps. On my ride this morning to work it was a cool 38F and this helmet kept my head comfortably warm. On the ride home it was raining and the helmet stayed nice and dry inside.. I am also pleased with the color. As I have gotten older standing out in traffic is a bit more important to me. Having experienced a pretty major get off makes it that much more important. The colors are really nice and tasteful, yet gets you noticed. When I opened the box for the first time I thought that it looked better than what you see in the online pictures. The yellow is very bright against the black but in a nice way. I was very glad that this was my choice in color patterns. Overall this has been better than expected in every way. I am looking forward to putting many thousands of miles on my bike while wearing this comfortable helmet. Great value for a great helmet. October 28, 2014

Rocke K: I have a smh10 mounted to mine. Went on easy and the speakers fit well without pinching my ears. The boom mic fits inside the chin piece well also.
I have had no issues with the setup for over a year now.

A shopper asked: Does the helmet fit like the Rf-1200? May 4, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kevin B: Similar fit but the shell of the Qwest is a hair larger or bigger around in the front jaw and chin area. It's just enough that my communicator mic sits in the helmet but out of my mouth. The RF1200 is just enough different that a mic doesn't fit in there correctly. Also, the vents on the RF1200 are for riding in a more "aggressive" position. I ride a geeser glider and sit upright. The vents work great!

One more thing: Stock Harley MoCo communicator speakers DO FIT into the lil hollowed out speaker hole (I read about another rider on here that had problems w/ it). Both me and my gf use the quest and our MoCo speakers fit perfect.

Comfortable. Quiet. & Light. GREAT HELMET!!!
