Shark Race-R Pro Stinger Helmet

The new, high-end SHARK Race-R Pro is constructed from carbon/aramid fibers, was initially developed for Shark's top level racers: Moto GP, WSBK, Moto 2…. Can you imagine the level of requirement these riders have? Shark therefore had to ensure top level performance, giving the utmost importance to functionality and ergonomics: lightness, stability, comfort, precision and aerodynamics. Because the requirement from top racers is two-fold: safety and leading-edge technology. Shark must protect in critical situations, and must also contribute to their riding performance. The Shark Race-R Pro gives you the same level of excellence as it does to elite riders.

Shark's mantra is simple, "Just race! We care about the rest."

The Race Pro-R is Shark's new high end composite fiber helmet. Totally designed through a reverse engineering process, the Race-R Pro has been developed from technical data as close as possible from human head specifications. Shark has therefore taken into account your own constraints before considering its own. From the very first track tests, riders have acknowledged its stability, even above 300 km/h, its comfort and the precision of the wide angle vision field as well as its optical distortion-free shield.

"The Race R PRO concentrates all what I am looking for in a helmet when riding my bike. In fact, it contributes to my riding performance." Randy de Puniet, June 22nd, 2012.

Thanks to wind tunnel testing, Shark has minimized unpleasant cyclonic airflows on the Race R Pro by adding a double blade spoiler. Result = Stability. The Race R Pro ventilation system is a synthesis of the most efficient ventilation:

  • 4 air scoops: chin (with integrated anti-pollution air filter) + front + 2 top vents
  • 7 extractors
  • 3 possible positions: closed, intermediate, fully open
  • Optimization of venturi effect thanks to Formula1 wind tunnel testing

  • Sharktooth-ready
  • Shark Easy Fit glasses system offers wearers a comfort lining which has a pre-fitted system to accommodate all types of glasses
  • Spoiler CFD

Just what I was looking for. I was determined to get this helmet by any means possible once I tried my buddy's helmet. Good luck finding one to purchase in your local area, if I remember correctly there is only one authorized distributer in the states. Yeah sure the helmet is a bit pricey, but so is your head. If you are looking for a helmet there is no excuse to not get the maximum protection. I love this helmet, it's super light weight, aerodynamic, quite and comfortable. Once it's time to get a new helmet I'm buying this exact same one again. RevZilla had the best price listed and shipped quickly. June 30, 2014
All Objectives Met My first new helmet in years. I wanted safety and protection first, then style. What I got was a secure fit, great ventilation, a terrific 'optically correct' face shield and I love the fact that the helmet was built to accommodate wearing glasses. Then there is the style...incredibly sharp! June 16, 2014
Shark Race R Pro motorcycle helmet XL NEW RACE-R Sweet Sweet helmet.. I highly recommend.. Looks great and with great protection.. February 17, 2014
Very Good helmet Very comfortable and aerodynamic. Makes high speed riding more comfortable and the air flow through the helmet will keep you cool even on very hot days. December 30, 2013
Helmet with great features Just got this helmet yesterday and tried this - oh boy, this is an awesome helmet. I was using the HJC CL-16 on my Gixxer earlier, which was heavy, bending my neck and crouching was really painful. Riding in tuck position is so easy with this helmet. At really good speeds, when you turn your head, you'll hear a nice whistle, which you need to get used to (This is because of the various vents on the helmet). Its fit is spot on, the only flip side is - just like any other race helmets, you need a pair of earplugs to stop the noise. December 23, 2013
This is a race thoroughbred Got this for commuting in dangerous LA traffic because it's the highest SHARP-rated helmet available in the states (Five stars, but more importantly, "Green" rating for all 5 impact zones). While it's solidly built, looks good, it should be known that this girl is not made to be the most comfortable helmet in the world, it's made for protection on the track. Noise: she's loud. Coming off a Scorpion 500 she's only a tad louder than that helmet. For $600 you'd think they'd pay a bit more attention to noise. Before I go into fit let me explain my beautiful head shape: From front to back: my head is wider at the back, and slims as it approaches my forehead. From top to bottom: my head is wider at the top and narrows as it approaches my jaw line. I'm a Large in this and the Scorpion 500-- which is the best fitting helmet I've had for my head shape. Helmet fit: pretty darn close to perfect, but need a few millimeters more more front to back-- I can feel some uncomfortable pressure on my forehead after about 20 minutes, which as you'll see in other comments here or on forums leaves a red mark and two mosquito bites (from the 2 vents holes in the liner--bad idea shark). I may dremmel out a milli or two from the eps, which I had to do on my previously owned Scorpion 700. I've read others complain about the big cheek pads, and while they do hinder smiling, they aren't bothersome to me. Also, the helmet does not cover as much of the back of my head as the scorpion, it basically begins coverage right where my neck ends and my skull begins, but again this is a race helmet meant to live in the tuck position where your head is kinked backwards slightly. Liner: Good, but not as good as the scorpion kwik wik material. If my head is hot, it feels the same temp when I put on the helmet-- the scorpion has a cooling sensation (may sound weird but it's true) Ventilation: crazy good. Especially over the top of the ears if your shield is open because shark leave a millimeter for sunglasses to fit, that tiny opening suck air in, which is good for me and my big ear that get hot. Shield: Incredible. Easy on easy off mechanism that's very solidly built, far superior to Scorpions quick change system. Optically it's astounding, very clear. Anti fog works well so far. But mainly, she's a beast of plastic. Feel VERY secure when shut. Misc: love the air filter that's in the mouth vent. Killer idea shark designers! Sharktooth: was easy to install, really sexy design, sound is just OK. Loud enough-- and yes position is everything. Music sounds the best. Podcast are OK. Phone calls are almost unbearable poor sounding -- voices sound crackly. Best thing is it does work with Siri, which I read one reviewer say it didn't, either they are just plain wrong on apple updated bluetooth capability with Siri since then. Main appeal: design is flawless and don't have to wear earbuds. Had to remove neck liner to install which is a pain in the buttocks to put back in. Here's how: start at the back and as you move forward, pull the liner back toward the rear. So first you push it in between the eps and shell and then pull back to the rear. December 13, 2013
Amazing Helmet I just bought my 4th helmet this year and its the Race R Pro from shark. All my helmets were from good brands but unfortunetly was not good for me. My main concern in a helmet is to be quiet and light in weight and finally i can say i found my helmet which is the race r pro....I advice any rider who rides a sport bike to get this helmet. Its the first time i feel the vents in a helmet works...it feels like i have an air conditioner inside the helmet with the amount of air passing by inside out. The quality and finishing of the helmet is a high standard and you feel that your head is really safe in that thing. My friends which i ride with are now considering to get the same helmet ....So offcourse i send them the link of revzilla to start buying there items from there. Revzilla thank you very much for the videos which really help the buyers decide in the item they want to purchase and for the best customer service and fast shipping. Regards M September 24, 2013
Nice bang for the buck. reliable. I have a Shark for 12 years. Had maybe 50K miles on it. Great helmet. Comfortable, and reliable. After 12 years my shark started asking for retirement. I'm having a little more than desirable air flow due to the paddings getting slacky, what makes it not too good on a colder day. But hey, 12 years...It's payed off big time. August 31, 2013

A S asked: I am choosing between Scorpion EXO-R200 which is positioned as 400 dollars helmet of 600+ dollards quality and Shark Race-Pro Stinger which is 600+ dollar by the 400 dollars price (due to discount). How would you compare them? Mar 9, 2014

David E: No question the Race R -Pro is the way to go. Race is in the description for a reason. The technology is there and you'll find this helmet on many racing pro's all the way to Moto GP. I have the stinger myself and couldn't be more pleased. Even the face shield is significantly thicker and optically correct. I put the dark smoke shield on my helmet and it's like wearing a nice pair of sunglasses. My advise, go for as much technology as you can afford. After all your head is worth it. Mar 10, 2014

Andrew C: I don't know much habout the scorpion but the rce-r pro helmet is worn by a couple of racers on the most elite level of racing. Randy de puniet and Scott Redding, both wear the Shark helmet and trust their lives with it at very high speeds. I personally use this helmet for racing and find it is very good!! Mar 11, 2014

A S asked: Will this helmet work well with a naked bike? I ride a Honda Hornet and i'm concerned of stability and noise, since there is no fairing on the bike. Will it be comfortable in that position? Jan 13, 2014

Christopher S: Yes. I own two bikes: a Ducati Monster 1100 Evo and a Ducati 1098S. I initially bought this helmet for track and canyon riding, on the 1098. However, the helmet is so good that I use it all the time irrespective of the bike that I'm riding. In fact, the helmet tends to make my Monster a whole different riding experience. I tend to ride fast (not something I'm proud of, just a fact), and riding fast on a naked bike is fatiguing. This helmet dramatically reduces the fatigue. It's a must have. Jan 13, 2014

Andrew C: I also ride a naked bike. An SV650. It is quite stable!!, It is noisier than they make it seem with their advertising, but I typically wear ear plugs. Although riding without the earplugs wasn't terribly uncomfortable. This helmet was designed for a full tuck body position, yet riding it in a normal seated configuration was perfectly fine for me. Walter W: I ride a naked bike with clip ons. I haven't been able to do a lot of riding since I got the helmet, but I haven't noticed any stability issues. If you hit about 30mph with the visor all the way open it whistles pretty bad, but that's a good reminder to close it. This helmet is seriously the best helmet I have ever owned. Jan 13, 2014
