Sena SMH5 Replacement Wired Microphone
Great for the price!
I purchased the Sena SMH5 communications device package for my wife and I so that we could communicate while riding my motorcycle. The set came with boom mics that worked well, but took up a lot of room in our full faced helmets. I ordered two of these wired mics. I ride a 2005 Kawasaki Concours with a tall windshield and full fairing, so the wired mic works very well for me, but we might go back to the boom mic with my wife as the wind noise in the wired mic in my wife's helmet makes me turn down my volume so far that I have to strain to hear her even when her visor is down. We will try to move the mic up into her helmet further to see if that rectifies the problem and will update if that occurs. Revzilla's service was very fast.

Works for what it is
It's a replacement mic, it works, does it's job, but isn't the top of the line, but you expect that at the price point. I am happy with my purchase and will purchase more in the future for any new helmets I buy.

I bought the SMH5 but it only came with the boom mic. Since I have a full face helmet I bought this Wired Mic. It was easy to install and sounds good. I didn't have any troubles with noise at 55MPH with a full face helmet and windshield.

Quick to install
Needed a replacement mic for my Sena SMH5-FM. This was a snap (literally) to install and has worked wonderfully with no complaints from those I speak with.

perfect option for full face
When trying to decide on a bluetooh device I used price 35%, functionality / durability 50% and reviews 15%. with price as a pretty big factor I can only say WOW!! The SMH-5 is a great unit. for thoes with a full face there is only one way to go, wired mic. it is small and out of the way with great sound clarity on the other end. I do not have to bring yell regardless of the speed and it goes seamlessly in line with the rest of the unit. I do fell that over time grabing my helmet by the face will wearout the foam which is why I make a concious effort to move my fingers. When it commes to communication this will be the best $5-6 spent.

A good idea for full face helmets
Very compact; mounts easily and takes up little space in a full face helmet. I have little clearance between my mouth and the chin piece on my Arai RX-Q, and this mic fits easily without interfering. I would have preferred it if the SMH5 kit was available with these wired mics instead of the boom mics, but in any case, the price to add the wired mics separately is reasonable.

Connects to the headphone assembly and allows for use of a full faced helmet. A small piece of velcro holds the mic to the helmet. The sound is very good and I can make phone calls at 60 with no problem or complaints from the other party. On some helmets some fitting may be required to avoid wind noise especially when turning your head.

Alternative option for full face helmets.
The Sena SMH5 wired mic is the perfect option for those with full face helmets who don't want to use the boom mic or are cramped for space. I ordered two of these with the SMH5 dual pack as we both have full face helmets. Easy install and very cost effective!
