Scorpion Recruit Leather Jacket

The year is 1953; Marlon Brando hits the big screen as Johnny Strabler in the cult classic “The Wild One”. As leader of the Black Rebels Motorcycle Club (BRMC), Strabler and his gang disrupt a race competition in Carbonville by plowing through a roadblock, strolling across the track, and taunting officials of the Sage Valley Motorcycle Races. Accused of being an “outlaw outfit,” they are quickly thrown out of the competition by Sheriff Singer and told to “Hit the road...get goin’.” The sale of black leather jackets and motorcycles reached new heights after the film’s release, and motorcycle became a timeless symbol of youth rebellion. Hence the Recruit Jacket.

Scorpion Recruit Leather Jacket Review Overall a great jacket. The collar is a bit uncomfortable, but I'm sure that it will break-in in due time. Otherwise, the fit is spot on, and I get lots of compliments when wearing it. The jacket moves with me when riding the bike, which is a big plus. Great product from an even greater company. Thanks Revzilla!!! April 28, 2013
Great Overall Jacket Overall I really like this Jacket. I am 5'10 220 and I bought the Large. I Not riding: The fit is pretty good; little snug around the shoulders and elbows but that is because of the armor. I get compliments all the time on the look of it. If I put the liner in it makes it a good deal more difficult to wear, but I also think that an XL would be too much. I have a feeling it is this way because I'm at least 25 lbs over my desired weight and it will all fit better when I lose some pounds. I want to get out of it when the liner is in and the vents are closed up though. Riding: I have only worn this jacket in warm fall weather as I live in Colorado and got the jacket at the end of the summer. I removed the liner after the first time I tried the Jacket with the liner. I have felt pretty warm. On one of my longer 2 hour rides the high temp (not including wind chill from the bike) was 50 F. That was a little chilly but bearable. It would have probably been a bit more comfortable with the liner. With the liner out though, I can't even notice the jacket on the elbows and shoulders but the velcro neck flap pushes up into my neck very firmly with it all closed up. That is pretty aggravating but I have noticed that when I don't close it up all the way it feels better and I don't notice it. That and the leather has already started to break in a bit better. I noticed this when riding and took another reviewers advice and rode with good posture for a while and can't even notice the neck flap issue. Only one issue that I have with the jacket that I don't think any other reviewer has mentioned yet is that the lining is made of a light mesh and the velcro through out the jacket catches and rips it up slowly. I really started to notice this as my gloves have velcro straps that, when not closed, have started to fray the inside of the cuff on the jacket. Overall: Again, I think this is a really great jacket. I know this review seemed pretty critical but I do really like the jacket a lot. It fits well when riding and I think that is the most important thing (Doesn't feel so good as a passenger in a car). it looks great and I think has just enough storage via pockets for keys, wallet, phone, sunglasses, and something else small. Ventilation is surprisingly good for a black leather jacket. October 15, 2012
Looks and feels awesome. This is my first leather jacket. It looks and feels great! It is really heavy when holding it or on the hanger, but I don't notice it while wearing it. It is very thick and solid feeling, definitely seems like it would protect you in a crash. The armor is not noticeable while wearing it (except in small ways, like your shoulders are slightly wider than you're used to). I replaced the non-armor foam back piece with a real one (SAS-TEC back protector, which I cut to fit) and it's still totally comfortable. So far I have only ridden in cool weather so have had the liner in. The vents are fine for this sort of weather, but I imagine it could be a little warm in hot weather. I would strongly suggest following the sizing guide. I measured myself and the guide said I was at the very top edge of Medium. I don't wear a medium anything (I'm 6'3" 185lbs) so I ordered the Large. It was definitely not a tight fit to start with and leather breaks in so after a few rides I am starting to think the medium might have fit after all. So trust the sizing, and take advantage of the free exchange if you try it and it's too small. The neck velcro flap (mentioned in another review) is slightly aggravating on my neck if I ride with my head leaned forward, but doesn't bother me much if I have good posture, and also is getting better as the jacket breaks in and loosens up. Plus you can just not close it if it bothers you too much (it just covers the top of the zipper). October 8, 2012
Very satisfied with this jacket. I'm just going to do the easiest thing. Pros vs Cons. Pros: -Full sleeve liner is great. -Jacket is comfortable in upright seating position -Flows a surprising amount of air. (I've rode in 95 deg weather and been fine -Looks good on and off the bike. -I think is has good value Cons: -Back protector is wimpy. I upgraded to a SAS-tec that I cut to fit my jacket. That is the way to go for maximum protection at less than $350 all in new. -The neck tab is annoying, If you don't strap it, it stays out of the way, but I'm probably going to stitch rip it off. -little leather ties on zippers came right off in the wind, but I kind of like them off anyways. the chest vent zippers are a little more subtle now. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone in the tuck position because that neck really does ride up when your arms are up (at least for me). But if you have an upright seating position, it's a great jacket. June 29, 2012
Great Four Season Jacket This jacket offers pretty great protection while still flowing a ton of air in the summer. It is snug where it needs to be, but isn't too tight to be comfortable. The only thing that needs upgrading is the back protector. June 1, 2012
Great Overall Simple Jacket This is my first jacket for motorcycle riding ever, and my first leather jacket ever. I am not familiar with leather jackets at all, and am not sure if they are all this stiff and heavy when first getting them, I can only guess they are. I love the look of this jacket, and the feel. It's very snug, and currently I am trying to break it in wherever I am, riding in the car with it isn't very enjoyable. I am incredibly satisfied with this jacket however, and my fiance thinks it looks great and so do I. The zippers are very high quality, and the ability to hide the zipper tabs is awesome. I will say the arm length is just a tiny bit long, but it's not bothersome. The fully removable pads are great, gives me a great feel of protection, I will be upgrading the back protector however as the stock one is just a piece of foam. I would recommend this jacket to anyone, I love it and the only way I would get a different jacket is if I had the $800 to spend on the Dainese jackets. Looking forward to my first full season with this protecting my body. April 7, 2012
Beautiful Jacket - even better than I hoped for This is one good looking leather jacket - real retro style and very high quality. I followed the size chart and got one size bigger than I normally would get and it fit perfectly. This jacket would look good riding anything from a Harley to a BMW or just hanging out. Great Jacket !! I checked out a few textile jackets before buying this one. When a guy told me to check this one out. I am 6'4" 190 thin build I bought a X-Large, fit like a glove and looks great. I rode with both liners in, in about 87 degrees, airflow kept me cool. Did I mention it looks great. May 13, 2011

A shopper asked: I would like to upgrade the back protection to CE rated. Which back protectors fit this jacket? Dec 16, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Benjamin L: I purchased the Alpinestars Bio Armor back protector for Scorpion Recruit jacket.

This back protector is bulkier than others but it fits perfectly, is CE rated, and only costs $30.

Therefore, almost all back protectors will fit in this jacket.

Also remember, this jacket's sizes run pretty large. I would buy at least a size smaller. Its more of a touring jacket so it won't fit very snug anyway
