Not your average neon helmet!
I purchased this helmet late last year for commuting. I initially looked at getting a white helmet then I ran across the neon colored ones. They are very bright and when riding so they stand out. I searched and found different neon colored helmets till I stumbled upon the Scorpion EXO-500 Neon Oil Spill. Here is my review.
Fit - The sizing runs small on Scorpion brand helmets. Every other helmet I had tried I was a medium. In the scorpion I am a large. Out of the box it was a little tight on my forehead. I have a round oval head shape which is pretty much the standard shape. After about 4-5 times riding in the helmet the tightness was gone. I like the adjustable cheek pads. Gives you that custom fit. The interior padding is about a medium density.
Noise - I have ridden in several brand helmets (Icon Alliance, Speed and Strength S1000, Bell Vortex, Scorpion 500, 1000, 400, 750) and this is one of the quietest. I am able to reduce some of the wind noise by adjusting the cheek pads tighter. I also ride with earphones and it helps to reduce the wind noise as well.
Appearance - The graphics speaks for itself. The paint scheme is a very nice quality. I use it mostly to commute to work and every time someone sees me with it they have nothing but nice things to say about it. Like the title says it's not your average high visibility helmet.
Features - Scorpion has a couple of nice features with this helmet. One is the drop down visor. This comes in handy riding in the early morning or afternoon with the sun is right in your eyes. Just hit a switch on the side of the helmet and you are good to go. No sunglasses needed. The only down side to the visor is that it's not polarized so the clarity is not the greatest. The other feature is the speed shift system to change the visor. You can change your visor in about 15-20 seconds easy. The first couple of times it's a little cumbersome. Once you practice taking it off and putting it on a couple of times you get use to where things need to be for it to lock in. I purchased a mirror tinted visor for sun up riding and it makes a huge difference in clarity.
Value - For the price this helmet is a winner. I have seen other helmets with some of the same features for almost double the price. I found this on Amazon for a little less than some of the other online retailers and couldn't turn down the price.
In conclusion I would have no problem with purchasing this helmet again. I hope this review helps if you plan on making the purchase. Safe riding!!

This helmet is great!
I've had this helmet now for about 5 months, and let me tell you it works great for me. I love the color & design and the fact that it has a secondary lens, one of my best purchases so far!

nice street helment
This is my first street helment.that's the only reason for the fair air flow rating. coming from off road helmets its a bit on the warm side nothing I can't get used to. Very bright especially in the sunlight .

Love this helmet
I love this helmet so much, after I dragged my face all over the pavement, I bought another one. I low sided my bike on a turn and slid 20 ft face first and got up without a scratch. I love the pump chin and the sun visor (I will never buy a helmet without one). doesn't in cold mornings, and has awesome graphics. Its a little loud and has a low hissing sound when the vents are closed but only in 3/4 tuck. If hi-viz is not your cup of tea, the black and red versions look hot too!!!

Favorite Helmet
I bought this to replace my AGV. It has more features but is a little bit heavier. It has awesome design and is very visible. I especially like the tinted internal visor and the visor lock. It was initially a little too tight, but I wore it riding for several trips and now it is starting to loosen up a little, and I actually use the inflating cheek pads. Overall a great helmet with a lot of features for not a lot of money compared to AGV or Shoei.

Be seen with the Neon Oil Scorpion helmet!
I can tell you this.... I see more tires stop rolling coming out of side streets at greater distances wearing this helmet than my older HJC blue n white helmet. (Bought neo oil)
Got medium, but was too tight.
Fortunately, all I needed to do was get the large liner and now it fits great.
The drop down sunshade should b standard on all helmets. What a great idea.
The only minor thing is a slight whistle when both top vents are open.

fantastic helmet
love this helmet, its fairly light, well vented, doesn't knock your head around too badly at highway speeds which is nice , sun visor is excellent, but this is definitely a great helmet for the money and the hi viz and oil slick design is awesome.

Super Bright! Hi-Viz but Stylish! Light weight
This is my first helmet. I measured at the top range for a medium and ordered a large. It was a little tight out of the box but it feels pretty good after about two weeks. I have no extra room in the cheek pads to need the air pump. It seems a little loud when the top vents are opened but I don’t have anything to compare it to. The drop down sun visor ROCKS! That has to be the best feature of the helmet. Great first helmet! I have had multiple people tell me that they could see my helmet a mile away! The white camo liner is super cool looking but white on the inside of a helmet during a Georgia summer will not be white for long!
