Scorpion EXO-500 Oil Neon Helmet
Very nice helmet
This helmet is great. The fit was accurate. The flip down sun visor is awesome.
The hi-vis yellow is great, too. After about 250 miles, still no issues getting noticed (knock on wood).

Awesome helmet, but OEM cheek pads are a bust
First off, if I could rate this a 4.5 stars I would because I do LOVE this helmet. BUT, let it be known that this helmet does fit rather small and makes your cheeks get pushed in. I had to order a smaller size cheek pad because it was unbearable to have my cheeks squished like that. After I inserted the new cheek pads, my cheeks are still slightly mushed but I understand it is for protection/sound proofing purposes.
This does not mean you will have to order a size larger, it does fit true to size, but the OEM cheek pads are too big for most people as far as Ive seen and tend to squish your face in, sometimes giving you a fish mouth effect. So be aware that you may need to buy smaller cheek pads to accomodate your face (they're not expensive).
Sound: the helmet does run pretty quiet. When I was taking the MSF course I actually had to use their stock 3/4 helmets because I really couldn't hear what my instructor was saying from 10 feet away with this helmet. When I do ride at 60-70 mph I do hear wind (duh) , but it doesn't bother my ears like the HJC CL-14 does. This helmet does a great job at sound proofing.
Airflow: though it does flow a good amount of air, sometimes it not enough for me. It only has 3 active (switchable) air intakes total with 2 passive in the back. But it still has pretty good airflow.
Style: look at this thing! The pics don't do it justice, the graphics on this is very bad as*. Hi Viz without looking like a dork.
Comfort: My crown area is comfortable in this helmet. It works with my head shape, I never feel tired or weaker after wearing this for hours. Though some of my bike buddies say that this helmet is pretty heavy, I think its fine. It doesn't tire me out. Other than the cheek thing I said before, it fits comfortably but can be a pain to remove/put on.
When removing I find it best to grab the straps and pull them to compress the cheep pads and simply pull up the helmet using the straps for easier removal rather than with 2 hands pulling up on R/L sides of helmet.
For putting on helmet, I find it helps to use the straps to compress the cheek pads one again to create more room for entry and slide into your head.
Features: the drop down sun shades is not enough for me (I live in Florida) but it does help. Changing visors on this thing is stupid simple, which is great. Some people complain about the visor locking mechanism. For me its fine, I can use both visor lever and sunglass lever with ease with gloves on, so maybe its just not to their liking. All the padding inside can be removed and put back easily for washing.
Other info: I do have a Sena SMH-5 installed. It DOES have enough space for the speakers ya hear. So if you are not sure if you can use a headset in this thing let me put that to rest and tell you that you can with no problems. I have average sized ears, neither too big or small.
So to wrap this up:
Pros: secure fit, air flow, sound proofing capability, internal sun shades, visor changing mechanism, removable guts for washing.
Cons: slightly heavy, can be a pain to take off/put on

always have liked scorpion helmets fit and style. Built in sun visor keeps you from having to switch shields when going from day to night riding.

Love the Hi Viz style plus LOTS of airflow!
I was looking for a Hi Viz helmet for a better safety reason but could not find one that looks "cool" enough to wear until this helmet on you tube worn by CycleCruza emphasizing how important it is to be visible out there when riding. I was sold by the looks alone but more suprizingly the features this helmet have for the prize was unbelievable.
There are 2 things that kept me from giving this product a 5 stars:
1. Keep in mind when ordering this product you will need to go 1 size up . . . mistake that I made order my true size Large (did not pay attention to other reviews) and it was very tight. So I called for exchange to XL and fits just right.
2. The entry point of this helmet is more oval of witch I have to push from the top of the helmet to get it into my head but once inside it fits very secure.
But beside that this is a great helmet especially the air flow you get i was pleasantly surprise. This is my 6 helmet from different brand and my 1st Scorpion helmet but the EXO 500 has the best airflow helmet I ever have. I was getting so much airflow especially from the top that riding on cold days i have to close the 2 top vent (never done that with the others). Also has the best and easiest visor removal plus internal tinted visor another plus.
I have not ridden yet on hot days but i would expect i will be going to have a COOL Ride this summer!
This is a good buy for the money and oh, it is ECE and DOT approved. Best Helmet investment I ever made.

This helmet looks great
Not as quiet as my other brand (sh03!, but not as expensive either. The inner sun sheild is rather useless. It does not drop down far enough to block sun completely. Hello scorpion you've been around how long and havnt corrected this yet? Make a longer inner visor not that hard! On a good note, the helmet is pretty light and comfortable for my small round noggin.

When it was time to upgrade, I decided that I want to stick to a hi-viz color but not plain solid color, which limited the selection to a very small amount. I fell in love right away when I see this graphic. Looking through all the reviews and the features it offers, I can't a better one for the price. I order a size up for a large, and it came fitting perfectly. It was snug while breaking it in but still very comfortable. The only complain is the neck roll is very tight, which is good for noise reduction, making it harder to put on and off. Overall, I am very satisfied with the helmet.

Nice helmet for the price.
First, the color and paint design is awesome. It is very bright but still has some style to it, not just a boring hi-viz look.
Seems to be a nice helmet for the price. But its not perfect.
Few things are very cheaply done, which is where the price cuts come in I guess.
The internal shield is cool, but I think it should be a little lower. When I use it, I either have to keep my head tilted down a little or try to pull the helmet down more so the shield is further down to block out the sun.
It is a great idea when just riding around and you need something to shade your eyes. On long rides or very bright sunny days, I still try to wear sunglasses, as the tinted shield is not very dark or optically clear.
the external shield needs work. The locking function is horrible! It is a small lever on the left side that has no feel to it at all. You can't tell which position it is in. It has a lock, open, and vent position, but the vent part doesn't open enough to let air in and the first position for the shield opens it to much. Just needs some work in this area. But I will say it is a nice touch that the shield has the opening lip on both sides, so you can open with either hand. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but when you have the clutch pulled in, you can use your right hand to open the shield!
For the price, this helmet is awesome. Fix the issues with the shield and it would be even better!

Not bad but not great.
This is my first helmet and I was excited about the features it had for so cheap but I should have known better. Nothing comes cheap; you get what you pay for. The helmet is ok, I'm not returning it, but it's just a helmet to get me through the first year of riding a cheap motorcycle before buying a quality helmet that matches the bike I buy when I get back to the states.
The internal sun visor, which attracted me, is half thought through. It doesn't drop down far enough, leaving a line in the bottom 1/3 of your vision between shaded and unshaded that is distracting and it is not adjustable. The tint is not nearly dark enough, I ordered a dark smoke visor so we'll see how that works out.
The vent-lock is terrible. It doesn't open far enough to vent any air you can feel and when you stop at a stop light and want to raise the visor to get some air you have to fiddle with this tiny little lever on the left of your helmet to be able to raise your visor. Try doing that while holding the clutch in. Because Scorpion is so proud of this little feature the first detent in the visor lift is way too far open to vent; again you get an awkward line in your vision.
Fit. I have a big head, I accept that. I wear a 7 5/8" fitted baseball cap and most helmets and hats are an XL for me. I had to return the XL for a XXL in this helmet because of awful pressure points on my forehead. The XXL isn't entirely comfortable either, the cheek pads push in too much and I still get pressure on my forehead. Probably should have exchanged for a XXXL but I got tired of waiting and wanted to ride.
