Scorpion EXO-500 Oil Helmet - Hi-Viz Neon

The Scorpion EXO-500 immediately catches the eye with its innovative design, enhanced by a superb sharp ridge on the underside of the shell. Inspired by its older brother, the Scorpion EXO-1000, the EXO 500 Helmet is based on GT philosophy and is fitted as standard with the latest generation face shield. The EXO-500 also integrates the SpeedView built-in retractable sunvisor treated with anti-fog coating on both sides.

Comprising 3 shell sizes and a lighter, more durable shell than its predecessor, the Scorpion EXO-500 Helmets will drastically change your expectations of a standard full face helmet. Featuring a very soft KwikWick 2 inner liner and triple density foam cheek pads, the EXO500 is also equipped with the revolutionary Airfit technology and a state-of-the-art ventilation system. Chances are, this Scorpion will steal the show from much more expensive helmets.

Features:

  • KwikWick 2 liner: soft, moisture wicking, hypoallergenic, removable, and machine washable
  • SpeedView retractable sunvisor: treated with antifog on both sides
  • AirFit technology: inflate and deflate the cheek pads to make it fit perfectly for a better fit, greater safety and shock absorption
  • SpeedShift visor system: enables extremely quick visor changes
  • EverClear no-fog visor: optically-correct, aero-tuned shield with state-of-the art fog-free technology and anti-scratch hardened coating
  • Advanced polycarbonate composite engineered shell: quiet, aero-tuned designed and wind-tunnel tested
  • EPS-lined chin bar for additional protection
  • Triple density foam cheek pads
  • 3 shell sizes
  • 3 year warranty

Overall its really good! Overall its really good! Cons.... Sun Visor: It doesnt block the sunlight that much, however its better than nothing. Also when you are using the sun visor, the vibration of your body will make it not 100% retract , therefore the sun visor will sometimes kinda fall down and kinda in ur eyesight when you on the highway. I bought a gold mirror shield for the helmet and took out the sun visor. therefore its all good for me now! Pros... I have a sena SMH10R bluetooth attached to the helmet as well, lots of room for installation all the padding can be taken out for the installation and easy going back in, therefore, for someone wants to have a decent price helmet and other gadgets on their helmet, this is a really good choice! really nice looking, easily spotted by other riders and drivers. the Crack feature is really nice, I ride in an environment that temp rarely goes up to ~30 C therefore the little crack feature can give me a little more breathing room for me when i need it during city riding and not exposing a lot of my face which i really love. Overall i love it! been using it for almost 4 months, beside the sun visor, I have no complain AT ALL! August 11, 2014
Great helmet--great color I got this helmet because I was lookin for a hi-viz helmet with a visor that didn't break the bank. I really like the graphic on the helmet and the color is great. I feel like people see me on my bike. The smoked visor works very well and probably use it half the time I ride--the bottom edge of the visor doesn't bother me at all. The helmet flows a bunch of air and the clear visor has a 'cracked open' setting that is great. I haven't had any problems with the helmet fogging even though I love in a very humid area. This is a great helmet and it fits very similar to other Scorpion helmets. July 28, 2014
Dahlia 2 Love the design on the Dahlia 2 helmet. It has just a hint of sparkle that makes this helmet stand out. Love the features like the drop down sun shade and the easily changeable visors. This helmet does run small. I recommend ordering at least 1 size larger, maybe 2. August 11, 2014
man this was tight So I have an hjc helmet and it fits me percect xl. However when I ordered the xl it didn't even fit on top of my head. Went 2x and first week or two it was tight kinda hurt my jawline. but now its ok and I recommend getting a size up from usual August 8, 2014
Runs small Usually a large, got an XL based on others reviews. Even that felt tight at first but it's been perfect after break in. Other than that this helmet is perfect, the sun visor rocks, the air flow rocks, it looks nice, the cheek pump works and might be useful if the fit was a bit large, but mine is perfect for me. TBH, I don't know what else you would want from a helmet. Gettit! August 5, 2014
Great Helmet Got this helmet for my girlfriend and she loves it. All the features you could want at a reasonable price. I'd purchase one for myself but I have a long-oval head and this helmet is not comfortable in my size. August 4, 2014
Good helmet, but a little noisy. Pros: Looks cool, high visibility, built in sunglasses, quality windscreen Cons: definitely on the louder side (so much that I rarely wear it because my HJC helmet is far quieter) In all other areas it is about average. It fits small. June 16, 2014
Very Nice This helmet replaces the Scorpion EXO1000 that I have. It's very much the same helmet with improvements. First thing I notice was the weight. It's very light compared to the EXO1000. Also they improved the inner drop down sun visor. They added a small tang which prevents the shield from coming out of its track. Something that did happen to me using the EXO1000. If you like Scorpion helmets this is a good one. July 28, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Grace O: I chose this helmet for the hi-viz color and graphic, also for the many cool features (fog-resistant, inner sun visor, removable, washable pads) and also for the good reviews it has received. Seems like a great value for the money. Aug 13, 2014
Raymond S: I watched a review on youtube by Cycle Cruza and ordered it and still use it and love it. Jun 24, 2014
Christian O: Epic lookin' high viz! Apr 28, 2014
David M: Like the oil design and hopefully helps in getting car drivers to see me as they are apparently blind in Western Australia Apr 1, 2014
Larry M: I always have liked scorpions look and fit. I choose this one just because of the neon and oiil spill look. Easier to be spotted by the cagers and looks great. Mar 18, 2014
A shopper asked: just received my exo 500 oil neon in size lg. sized it according to chart. I measured at 23 inches at the widest point checked it several times. came out same at 23 an a quarter. had my sister check it. she got 23.so by the chart I ordered a large. tried to put on would not go past my ears. also made sure it was deflated.so now I have to return it. didn't come with return label. my question is since lg was so tight.should I go xl or 2xl.? Alfredo R: The entry on this helmet is really tight. After the pads wear it will be easier but its a snug fit going in. Once its on however, its comfortable. I wear this helmet with glasses no problem. I like that's it fits snug, even after breaking in. My last helmet fit just right at first but then I felt like a bubble head when the padding broke in. If after wearing for a while around the house you feel like its to small, you can always exchange it easily. This is a great helmet, I've had two of them and I wold keep buing it over again. Amazing features and excelent quality for a good price. Aug 23, 2013

Raymond S: I read before buying the helmet that I needed to go one size bigger than what I measured. My measurement told me to get an XL so I ordered a XXL and it fit perfectly. So, if the L is too small then the XL should be fine. The helmet is a great choice. I love mine and it gets lots of looks. I live in Florida where it gets really humid and hot and every part of me will be sweating but my head. =) Aug 23, 2013

Devin W: Same as a above, I am usually a Medium in other helmets but when I tried this on I had to step up to Large. Scorpion seems to be tighter than HJC on the sides of my head/cheeks, which I prefer. You may want to try XL and XXL in a local store to see which fits your head shape better, just keep in mind the padding will settle/break in a little bit. Aug 26, 2013

A shopper asked: Is this helmet Snell M2010 rated? May 4, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: In order to accommodate the internal sunshield mechanism inside of the helmet, the EPS liner is cut out and therefore compromised as it will no longer offer the same amount of impact absorption had it been a solid piece. Aug 27, 2012
Reply to RevZilla Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: No, this helmet is not SNELL M2010 rated due to its internal retractable sunvisor mechanism. May 10, 2012

A shopper asked: What model year is this helmet? Is it a 2014 model year, was it just introduced? Does the year matter, or are there minimal changes on these helmets from year to year? Aug 16, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Raymond S: I bought mine last year (2013). I don't know if the year matters but I would think one year is no big deal but if it were 2-3 years old then I might look for something newer. Technology is always changing but I really don't think a year matters. This is an awesome helmet and I really enjoy mine. It doesn't matter how hot or cold it is the helmet is comfortable and really easy to clean. I live in the panhandle of Florida so it gets plenty hot and humid here and the helmet is fine for 1-2 hours of riding I have not done more than that in a day. Aug 17, 2014
