Better for a full face This wired kit is better than the OEM G4 as the microphone is on a thin wire rather than the thick spiral bendy arm thingie. This allows you to fit it better in a full face helmet without having the large spiral hanging out the bottom. June 25, 2012
Good where it works, poor for modular helmets The wired mic was ordered as an option for my modular helmet when it became quickly apparent that the boom mic that is standard with the kit did not allow sufficient room under the chin. The Cardo advertising online and on-the-box described the optional wired mic as a "special version for full faced helmets." When I attempted to install the microphone on the face, I found that the wire from the control unit to the mic was too short. This short length did not allow the modular face to be flipped up. When I called Cardo the customer support rep said, "We do not recommend the wired mic for modular helmets." I feel this is a significant failure in the unit description and the marketing. A modular helmet is simply a sub-set of a full faced helmet. Eventually, I learned to first put the helmet on, then attach the mic lightly (and awkwardly) to the velcro tab: firm enough that it will stay put in use and light enough that if I forget it is attached when I raise the modular face, the wire detaches easily. On the plus side, the wire allows me to store the mic out of the way on the back part of the helmet for the 95% of the time I am riding solo and using only the bluetooth function of the earphones to hear music or the GPS. Easy way to use Scala with a full face helmet. I installed this on my Shoei Qwest full face helmet. Took me a little bit to figure out how to get the clamp to work, but it does indeed fit. Was easy to install the two ear speakers and microphone. Calls are clear and loud enough to take, even at speed. Sound for music is fair. May 7, 2012
Great product! Easy to install, a great alternative for those of us with more than one helmet. Just take the cardo from one and put it on the other. This version is specially designed for full face helmets and the small mike does not interfere with anything inside the helmet. Great product! April 2, 2012
good good good Initially I though that's pricey for just a speaker and MIC, but after I received the kit I realize the price is justified. Good quality product, and needs to be water proof, so of course its gona cost a bit more than the knock off version. March 28, 2012
All G4 products have worked great for me. Clamp is a tight fit on the Fly Trekker helmet but it will work. February 20, 2012

Easy to install on Arai helmets I wear an Arai RX-Q helmet and the wired mic fits much better inside the helmet than the boom mic that came with the G4 power set. November 21, 2011

Answer: 
It can fit, but it is not an ideal swap. You will notice lower sound and microphone quality running the G9 on the G4 clamp kit than with the included speakers and microphone.
